Where is LT30p's vibration module - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi Guys,
My phone's vibration has becomed very annoying, it sounds like something is loose and it's making a horrible rumbling sound.
Since i don't have warranty i decided to open up the phone myself and see what's going on in there, this is where i got lost, i can't find the vibration module on my Xperia T, all i can say about it is that it's somewhere on the motherboard (i was holding in my hand and had the vibration is coming from it), and i'm guessing that it's in one of the sealed compartments... but which one?..................
Since the device is not using a traditional vibration motor i'm almost sure that this can't be fixed without a replacement.
Any ideas???

It is the part on the right side of camera. It is covered by metal cap. The cap can be removed and you can try to bend the metal bars, but it won't most probably help. And you could break those plastic slots where these bars are sticked. Just like me. I've broke them. But vibration works.
Some of the parts on T are just crappy.
Vibrator, battery, rear speaker, GPU (heating), back cover and maybe I forgot something.

Very cool. I dropped my phone some time ago and it doesn't vibrate any more. If I put the phone really close to my ear, I can hear it buzzing though... so I imagine something got loose. Thanks for that.

Yo guys!
I got some solution for the vibrator problems:

I repaired my own T so i havent done any photos of it..
but u have to dismantle the housing mentioned in the 2nd post
then move the "thing" with your finger, and put some drops of that hot juice called wd40 on every piece that "moves"
fixed it for me instantly!
First it just maked a sound and NO VIBRATION, i moved it for some time and then wd40 - works now like a charm!
It looks like the housing was made for keeping some fat inside or something.
this fat disappears after a waterdamage, or just after some months of using.
Hope this helps you!

I'm having exactly the same issue - no vibration but I can hear it working.
But how the hell did you get the metal cap off? Did you have to remove the PCB completely to open it from the backward? I can't see a gap where I can put a screwdriver in...
Thank's a lot!

Hi derecklatino,
thanks for your response. It seems like it has fixed it self. I tested the vibrator a lot with Z-DeviceTest and only could hear it working but didn't feel it. But sometimes I startet to feel it again and after let it work more, the vibrator is back to full functionality now.
I also used the app "Vibrator" where you could run the vibrator for a longer period of time.
For the moment my vibrator is working again without opening it

I used thexruss's way with one difference. Instead of wd40 I used olive oil! It works great finally. Thanks guys

Bad idea.
Olive oil is organic and will decompose soon because of the phone temperature.
It's good for a door but not for a warm piece of technology.

Is this location you are taking about?
From what side should I start open cover?

Here's the answer for you bro!
I hope be useful!

Wow! I appreciate your effort! Thank you for such explanation. [emoji106]

I'm 95% happy with it, although the paint has a couple of chips where I put it back together when it wasn't 100% hard and/or had not adhered to the surface. I didn't sand it down first, which may turn out to be a mistake. If the paint starts to chip I will sand it down and re-apply it. I used Plasti-kote Satin Black (2 coats) then Clear Acrylic (2 coats), which is supposed to dry in 30-40 minutes.
All in all the paint worked pretty well - it came out pretty smooth, and the paint remained reasonably thin.
Nice work.
I can see that you had very sterile painting conditions. I once painted my amiga500 outside and it got all dusty.
I've never understood someone wanting to do something like this, but wow, after seeing how yours turned out, that is Really nice! I really like how it looks (but not sure I'm ready to pull mine apart to do that)
Great job!
I have to say that look really nice...I want to do something like that...
Damn dog. That's pretty sic. I like it. Impressive!
Looks damn good! I don't think I have the cajones to do something like this though. Great job.
Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
I understand (and promote!) being reticent about taking your beloved Wizard apart. I've damaged it in a few ways because of it. Thank god I got the Wizard reasonably cheaply so it's not so painful. (I might put together a horror stories post. )
I can provide a day #2 upload that the paint is holding up in an ok fashion. There's may be 5-6 tiny specks where the paint has come off, so I'm likely to hold out and see how it holds out over the next week.
: \
sorry bro but I am not a fan of the look of the qtek/mda/xda models...but this makes them look a lot better and not as feminie, cheers
Nice black wizard. We have a white and a black The back panel's paint job is better than I've expected, with all the grooves, which may cause problems if thick layer of paint are applied.
BTW, I think you ought to have your stylus's "butt" painted as well
Very nice!
I've been wanting to fins a spare 8125 case to try and paint black. In case I mess it up, it would be just a spare so I wouldn't have to use it, haha
Looks good though!

You can find a service manual on the net for it. Search for 'prodigy service manual'. You will need a couple of tiny screwdrivers:

If you do I'd be interested to hear your experience with it. I asked my father about it (retired auto/car painter) and he suggested using scotch bright for the sanding. I've yet to try it though..
is there anywhere where i could find a through tutorial on how to do this?? it looks awesome!
Looks very nice
I have an extra and am thinking about painting it. I used to build model cars when I was younger, and we would always use a very fine sandpaper. I don't remember the grit on it. It was a silicon carbide or aluminum oxide. Those papers both work great for plastic. I may give it a shot. If I do I will post the pics.
Peace,
Hmmm Waiting for the tuto!
Can someone make one?
How is the paint job holding up? I'd like to do this to mine, but I'm waiting to see if I need to sand it down first.
That's gorgeous. Very inspiring. I might have to hit up some painter friends of mine.
Hey its gorgeous but can you write a guide how to do that. THNX.

But my phone hasn't got that wet at all?!?!?
Also when we returned to our apartment each night it was VERY VERY warm in there. I'm not sure if that's caused the issue or not.
Anyway, I'll ring HTC tomorrow.

I was doing a clutch replacement on my car last Feb and I accidentally got brake cleaner on the back of my G1. If anyone felt or has/had a G1 will know the back has a rubber feel to it almost like the Nexus One. The cleaner was only on for a few seconds and the result was exactly what your picture is showing. It caused it to wrinkle and bubble up. I peeled it away and ended up buying a new cover.
yep, brake cleaner'll do that lol
had you tried to clean the trackball at some point recently?
if so, what did you use so i dont use it lol
I noticed a small raised area on my bottom cover that could be the start of something similar. Did you get a reply from HTC?

I will be doing it first thing Tuesday.
Hopefully they'll repair it under warranty because to be honest I ave no idea whats happened.

They also didn't ask for a CC to charge against.

I tried taking a photo of it, but it's near impossible to capture. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I didn't look for it after reading the OPs post. If it progresses I'll take one and contact HTC. Right now if I run my fingernail lightly across the front where the bottom half meets the metal frame I can feel a bump on the "teflon." Also when held up to the light and viewed at the proper angle I can see a very small line or crack.
If I posted the photos I doubt many people would be able to see it. Hopefully it stays this way and if it gets worse HTC will fix it.
Update:
Phone was collected Wednesday at 3:30pm.
They rung today to say it had been repaired and had passed final test and will be shipped either today or monday!
Not a bad service at all.
I'm presuming because of the speed they will send a replacement.

Supposedly it's military grade stuff so I bet it wouldn't even affect it. At the very least, I guarantee the effects of what the OP posted would at least be minimized greatly, if not prevented entirely.

LOL! Brake fluid and brake cleaner can look at plastic and it will dissolve. I don't care what grade it is, I promise you it will not hold up to it.
I tried taking some photos under sunlight to capture what could be the start of this problem. They are more difficult to see in the photos than with the eye, so I'm not entirely crazy about this and I'm posting these photos in case this can be used as an early warning sign of a more serious problem for other users. As I mentioned before I probably wouldn't have noticed for quite some time if I hadn't read the OPs post. The darkened spot circled in the photos is raised and can be felt when running my finger along it. When viewed at the proper angle there also appears to be a small crease/crack on the bump.
I had kept my phone in a full phantomskinz before and have since moved to a flexible TPU style case, so there's very little chance of me having bumped it somewhere.
Possible reasons this could be happening? Heat? Moisture? I'm really not sure, but if it turns into a problem like the OPs it could be trouble. Anyone think I should just contact HTC or should I wait and see what becomes of it?

Cleaning the speaker mesh

Hi all,
due to using my phone out and about in generally dusty places my speaker mesh is basically fully clogged up with dirt and the sound is drasticly reduced. Has anyone here cleaned their speaker mesh or got any advice on what would be the best way of doing it? i dont really want to start prodding a pin when i dont know what it could do!
Thanks in advance....
if you use a pin, the dust will fall in further.. so i wouldnt do that, but if thats ok by you then go ahead, nothing will happen as long as you dont push it in much further than the mesh ends.
blowing the dust out is the best solution imo.. only question is how to do that without diassembling the phone
I have similar problem I've used a piece of blue tack, just press it in and pull it out a few times to remove the dust and muck.

Tried a vacuum cleaner? Obviously the grille is a little small for it, but there might be enough air movement to lift the crap.
Here's what i would do:
Find a SMALL paintbrush... as stiff as possible...
Take Your vacuum cleaner hold the vacuum nozzle close to your phone (as close as you can get it..
Gently start brushing the speaker and let the vacuum cleaner take care of the stuff that are coming loose..
If the brush is to soft, try to cut it shorter to get a little more "power" on it...
Have'nt tried this, but i should work (i think... )
PS (If You are out in dusty enviroment a lot, I would cover the speaker holes with a bit of clear tape.. shouldnt affect the sound to much, and would
keep the phone healtier

Don't go to close with the vacuum or it will bust the speaker inside the ear piece, like he said above use fine clean paint brush and have a slight suction there from the hoover.

Just stick it and remove it... as scotch isn't very strong tape, it only removes the fat and leaves the transparent plastic in perfect clean state!
use it on all surfaces, try out on the screen first, you'll see how it works!
That's the old trick with our optimus There are threads mentioning this, some people got better results some don't see any difference

With the plastic clean the picture is as good or maybe better than without the cover, it's amazing!

Yes, old discussion
With the plastic cover of the sensor (why LG did it??) we have to take care (clean) of:
1) external side of the plastic
2) internal side of plastic
3) external side of sensor
P.S. plus... scratches/abrasion in the transparent plastic cover (internal and external..).
Doing this, there are no doubts: the qualty improvement is a fact.

Why not use a Drill or something and drill some random holes from the back of the phone all the way to the speaker enclosure. This seems like a pointless thing not to mention that that dust filter is there for a reason. If you wanted better sound there are other things to mess up with (and that requires adding extra holes in the speaker enclosure by taking the phone apart).

There's no such hardware revision. I've had both 310K and 312K and they sound the same.
boys little mind wants! the new version Grow more holes .. and I did too!.
Trial and error engineering at its best. Unfortunately with that approach there's more error than success.:silly:
So what you're saying is.... the sim tray tool is making the speaker holes bigger?
Not likely. Not sure how the plastic tool is supposed to make the holes bigger...
Looks like you're just poking at/moving the filter out of the way so you're more susceptible to getting dirt and dust in your phone.
Sounds like a placebo at best...
Well I just got an RMA device and wow are the speaker holes gigantic! They're about 2 times as big as my original one. Sounds sooooo much better.

I can post a picture, but I don't think they're any bigger than the ones that other people have posted. I was comparing it to my original device which had really tiny ones. Sorry for the confusion.
