Kabooot - it looks like your /efs folder is corrupt. If you have made a backup of that folder, you can try restoring it. There are some pointers on this thread.

Since you can get to the downloading screen I would suggest you reinstall JM9 following the instructions carefully.

If following all that stuff from the link does not work (I hope it does!), then you might try to flash a firmware with Odin, and select the option "Phone EFS Clear".
NOTE: I am not entirely sure this is safe!
But when I had the EXACT same problem you are having, I reflashed my phone like 20 times with many different firmwares, and a few times I selected that option. Then one time... just randomly... my phone started working, and I even got back my original IMEI and stuff.

I think he is a young kid & may not have a lot of experience/patience of many of us here, I think some patient soul here can guide him to flash an official ROM over Kies. I think Kies can see the phone in download mode & can update the firmware.
Have you solved your problem yet?
My Optimus Black was working fine for about 3 months. Not sure what happened, but it started showing no network/signal. It's a completely unlocked phone. I tried a friend's SIM card and the first time it wouldn't work, but I tried again a few days later and it worked but had a pretty bad signal. Now it won't work no matter how many times I try. I even bought a new SIM card/number (I live in Asia) and it won't work.
I had Android 2.3 and thought maybe something got corrupted, so I wiped and reinstalled, but same problem. I wiped again and installed Mokee OS, and same issue. (By the way, after using Android 2.3, switching to Mokee is so much nicer, although it's in beta and still has some bugs.)
The 6 gold SIM connectors look fine. I used a SIM app and it recognizes the SIM card and its carrier, so I think the card is being read OK.
I live on a small island, so sending the phone back to LG or taking it back to where I bought it (Bangkok) would be a huge hassle. Does anybody have any ideas on things to try to fix this? I'd really appreciate the help.
Can you return to stock rom (rooted or not, as you want) and then tell me if you see something write in LG lockscreen (I'm thinking about LG Security Error) ?

The first time i wiped the phone i went back to Android 2.3, but all that the lock screen said was "No service". Usually it says "DTAC" when I have service. Is that what you mean?

I think everything is normal. It has an IMEI number. It is 15 numbers. It also has an IMEI SV number that is 16 numbers.

No if the SIM card isn't used that phrase is normal. I got a problem like you but it was written "LG Security Error" and I had to use Smartflash tool erasing cp and then recover my imei. But it doesn't seems that you have the same problem. "/

I flashed the new rom and erased the CP data. still no phone service but i haven't reset the IMEI yet. having trouble with that step. i'm not sure if this is going to work though, my problem seems different. my phone can see my SIM card, but i just don't have any phone service with any SIM card. the sim cards work fine in other phones.
try a sim without pin code

i don't think my SIM has a pin code? I'm not sure though? There's only one type of SIM you can get here in Thailand. You buy the SIM from a phone shop or 7-11 and add credits to it. I've never seen any other type of SIM card.
Yep, I used smartflashtool and erased the entire CP (had to enable with Windows Enabler). Now there is no IMEI and still "No service".
Retry or by changing baseband now...there was a tutorial in optimus3D threads i think
Or in this one itself
Change the baseband

Yes, I do it a lot of times and the problem persists!
I'm new to this.
A totally random event. I restarted my phone one evening last week and it show no sim. Using the LG support tool I had multiple failed attempts to update the software. Then as sudden a the sim registration had disappeared it came back to life. All fine until again the phone just stopped registering the sim.
Phone is secondhand. And I have tried numerous times removing, cleaning and replacing the SIM. Tried another active SIM on the same network with no luck.
I've never had a 'bricked' phone so don't know what to expect but I imagine the phone wouldn't even boot up!
I have now rooted the phone and installed CWM recovery, still no joy and have in desperation performed a hard reset. Nada!
Software is V10h. I read something about EFS folder to backup but all I could find is a text file. The IMEI is not registering on the phone. It could be a very simple answer but currently I'm stumped. I have requested a replacement SIM but have little hope this will resolve the issue.
I hope someone has an answer...

re-flash 10h or 20a kdz. look for various tutorials on the forum. (btw, your phone isnt registring on network cuz your imei isnt being read, probably due to failed upgrade process
(or some other bug). it should be fixable though)
also, replacement sim wont help. its your cell phone that's faulty, either hardware or software, not the SIM itself
also, i'm not sure how it goes if your IMEI is blacklisted by your cell phone company - is it possible the phone was stolen? perhaps the original owner reported it stolen to his carrier and they blocked the IMEI?

If the IMEI is blacklisted, the phone will still show it correctly in the settings and the carrier will just block based on this. This is why changing an IMEI is illegal in most countries and why discussions on how to change it aren't allowed on XDA as it can get the site in serious trouble.

check if ur gapps are fine. reinstall all gapps. maybe u deleted some app that u shouldnt. happened to me too 2 weeks ago and i had no sim so signal , i couldnt see my imei, etc. if that doesnt help , then reinstall ur rom or install a custom one. I mean maybe u must be sure to check if u deleted some system app that u shouldnt. Since u have double checked with other sim , if its not from an app , then the above thread is right, the owner could have reported the phone stolen

Okay, strange happenings with this phone. I've not hd the opportunity to re-flash as suggested but by the by I put my SIM back in and it worked fine. There have been some problems with this, but normally due the the RIL on CyanogenMod-based ROMs. I would suggest that you find the time to either reflash v10h or upgrade to v20A/B/C (as appropriate for your region) and see if that fixes it for you.
you still havent mentioned anything about gapps. this means you checked and you are sure that they are fine ??
So I have tried flashing software V20A using the LG software updater and now all I get is the phone booting into 'S/W Upgrade please wait while upgrading'
I can get into any other screen, despite pressing all combination of buttons together.
I have attempted reflashing back to V10H and try and get it back to how I had the phone. No luck there
And also tried again with V20A. No joy.
Is there anything else I could try?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780274&page=165
Earlier today after the installation of a music player from google play(i include the music player part because the incident occurred about 2 hours later), my phone has been doing constant boot loops.
It was working perfectly until it just suddenly blacked out, restarted itself and it makes it as far as samsung logo until it restarts again.
This was a pure stock s3 mini. When i came home, i decided to flash TWRP and change to a reputably working PAC kitkat. However the boot loop persists.
Any ideas? i'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance.

multiple times. Unless TWRP isn't getting the job done, which im sure isn't the case. I read a few threads where people had similar problems and it was suggested to do a battery change so ill try that and see what happens.
Guys i need some answers for a few questions please, or if possible, a link to thread(s).
1. Phone versions: Is there a way to identify your phone's version, example "I8190XXANC2", without having to turn on the phone. Im trying to locate my stock 4.1.2 JB.
2. I found a guide to unbrick soft-bricked S3 mini's. My problem matches one of the characteristics which is rebooting on its own after samsung logo. The guide includes the files, (and the stock ROMs hence why im trying to find my phone's version) and a param_I8190.tar file, which they say is to be used should the phone be stuck in a boot loop. My question here is, should i try the param_I8190.tar with Odin without flashing the stock ROM (i never rooted or customized my phone by the way)?
Again...thanks in advance for any assistance.
Just leaving this here...
The phone is apparently constantly unmounting the system and efs partitions. Whenever i reboot in recovery they are always unchecked. Is that normal?
Also it appears the phone works normally WITHOUT a sim card.....but i obviously need it to work with it.....i am baffled here and desperately need some assistance...any assistance.

EFS is a folder that is saved in our smartphones. It controls IMEI number, serial number, WiFi MAC address, Bluetooth MAC address and many more. it means it's a very important folder and if you delete this folder then you can't call someone, turn on WiFi (because you don't have a MAC address anymore), Bluetooth etc. Only Samsung devices have an efs folder

flash the official firmware through odin. it should fix your problem. if it doesn't work then i don't know what to do else
ok thank you both. i also just found the official stock rom for my firmware. I did some digging myself and i believe i know what the problem is now. It appears the phone is missing it's nv_data.bin file, which i read induces a bootloop if it isn't present.
I will attempt the flash with odin and report in later. Hopefully it works.
It doesn't seem to be a problem with param or cache because the phone bots without sim.
Most likely is't something wrong with baseband or modemfs-folder.
Try to flash stock rom first and report back please.
DON'T do anything with your /efs. i8190 does not have NV_data.bin in efs like most sumsung devices do.
