Did I miss something? Was there an update in the last day or two that removes root access?
I noticed today that I couldn't access G Play Store, and couldn't delete hosts file because I couldn't mount r/w. Then supersu said there was no binary installed... hence no root
WTH man. Any advice? Do I need to re-root?? I use KFFirstAide, so I guess it wouldn't be that bad... still...
Thanks all
I heard that x.4.6 got released, root I think works, I'm not a amazon stock user as my signature says. Just go for it, it should work, if kffa doesn't try binaries root.

I know bin4ary's method works, because that is what I used.
Mine came with 7.4.6, and I am having difficulty determining what will work with it. If the update just went out, that makes sense.
Ok here's what worked:
Re-root using KFFirst Aide. Used the auto process, worked great (did not have to wipe device first).
Then followed KFFirstAide guide to installing Google Play manually. Works fine and I don't have to reinstall anything.
It appears that the latest update removes anything not stock in system/apps, which would explain why gplay stopped working (no logon services or framework)

Hey Guys,
I recently rooted my Kindle Fire HD and installed Go Launcher onto it and everything was going perfectly. I then installed Google service and Google Play store which worked perfectly too but this seems to have triggered a Kindle Fire update which now seems to have removed Go Launcher from my kindle...although I can see that the apk file for it is still present. I was wondering if this means that my Kindle Fire has somehow un-rooted itself or if I just need to install Go Launcher again? I am a little baffled as to which way to proceed next, I could re-root but don't want to unless necessary since it is risky and I dont know the affect of re-rooted a machine.
Thanks,
Emmz
I did the same (rooting, play store, go launcher) and i didn't have an update and i still have root.
If i were you, i would first find out if the root-rights on your device really disappeared. For example you could use the ES File manager to find it out. Check if the root-settings in ES are set respectively can be set.
Did you install the go launcher correctly as described in the forum? Copy the apk to /system/apps, set the permissions and install it from there. Be careful!! Everything you do is at your own risk! Read the related thread before you start.
Good luck!

just reroot it would be my suggestion, update gets rid of root but ive read in some instances where people were still able to use their launchers too tho. i havent received an update yet but after i rooted mine, i renamed the otacerts.zip file to otacerts.zip.bak and i also checked that ota keeper box in superuser.
As others have said, OTA updates will unroot the device, and anything else you may have moved to the system folder will also be removed. This usually means launchers and the Vending.apk for Google Play too. It's safe to root again and reinstall your apk. This situation happened to me twice (OTA'd one day, and a few days later, another surprise OTA), and I've already rooted again and reinstalled my launcher.
Hey,
i have a really strange problem. i rooted my KFHD some time ago. everything worked fine, superuser, google playstore, es-fileexplorer with system and so on. some days ago i wanted to install the app kindlefree (posted here in forums). but when i opened the app it said, it would need a rooted device. root checker from the play store also says "no root". superuser lists two apps with full permissions: es-fileexplorer and sixaxxis (use ps3 controller for android). both apps work fine and with the file explorer i can go up to the system files of the KFHD.
Maybe this problem has something to do with the amazon update. systeminformation says im on 7.2.3_user_2330720
so my quastion is what has to done, to fully root my device again? is it only some sort of bug or do i need to do the whole root-process + installing vending.apk etc. again?...i dont hope so because the rest of my device works really great but is was a long process
Does anyone else the same problem? thank you guys
If you were updated then you will have to re root all over again.
I recommend turning off the ota updates after you do it all again.

hi I have just followed the method to root my kindle fire hd running 7.3.0. i followed the manual guide.
i have also just installed vending, gplay and phonesky. Play is working fine. Also moved the marketintentproxy to the sdcard from system/app.
Here are my issues:
1. How to i disable OTA updates that amazon push out? Guide says to "open Kindle Fire First Aide - Select Option 14 to Disable OTA" cant find this?!?! maybe me.. long day..
2. When I rooted, I didn't restore my kindle to factory settings so I am still left with the apps I downloaded from amazon. Will these be ok to use still? Assume I won't gt updates for them?
3.During the rooting process I chose to restore my kindle but didn't enter the encryption passsword above. Does this matter?
Last thing is to do with ROMs. I have only ever rooted android handsets that requires booting into recovery and you can then flash a rom. Is the kindle completely different to this an the only was you replace amazon's awful interface is by installing and using Go Launcher?
Also, is this the latest link to get flash on a browser such as dolphin?

Thanks in advance!
I used the Kindle Fire Aid utility and it appeared to have worked fine. Which Binary V # do you have downloaded? It is definitely number 14.
Hi all,
I've rooted my Kindle Fire 7" HD but I'm unable to install any apps via the Google Play Store. SuperSU has been install successfully & I've also upgraded it to v1.3. Root Checker Basic confirms that I do indeed have root permissions. I followed the tutorials posted by @prokennexusa & the app loads up fine. But when I attempt to install anything, the Play store closes. When I attempt to reopen it, it will close straight away. I have to clear the app's data before I can load it up again.
I had done this previously on a different Kindle & all was fine so it's probably me missing a step. Anyone got any ideas on what that missing step might have been? I'm running v4.1.10 of the Play Store. Is this the latest?
Cheers for any tips you can give me,
Lee
Make sure you're using the right GAPPS for your OS. I recommend flashing Kinology ROM, as it includes GAPPS and SuperSU. It's just stock with extra features, so it works really well.

Reboot your kindle some times GPlay hasn't configed
Hi All,
Sorry for being a n00b here... I have a Kindle Fire HD 7, with Sytem Version 7.5.1. I'd like to install the Google Play Store. I should be able to, right? I used the SuperSU tool that roots your device. I had installed Google Store and thought it was working. Then when I tried to install an app from the store, App Store crashed. Now if I try to install the app store apk it just crashes over and over... Not sure if it's relevant, but since then I've done a factory reset on the Kindle. I was glad to see that SuperSU seems to have survived the reset. Anyway, the first question is, where is the best place to get the app store APK file? I don't remember where I got it last time, but I remember not being sure if it was the latest version. What is the latest version. And more importantly, how do I make it run on my Kindle? Many thanks for any ideas. -steve
