just tested while using a wiimote but playstation has 8 buttons excluding the directional pad and start and select. what bluetooth remote will work perfect with this emulator using the wiimote app from the market? is there a wiimote classic bluetooth controller roaming around or is there another remote that will work just as good.

I would definitely also like to know this.

The Bluetooth Game Gripper is a great way to play games on your iPhone, Droid X, or other supported smart phone. The various app stores are full of tons of fun games, but what about the greatest games of all time? *Super Mario, *Contra, and *Sonic the Hedgehog (to name a few) can also be played through emulating programs on your phone. The on-screen controls just don't work or feel right. This is where the Bluetooth Game Gripper comes in; it gives you all the buttons you need and holds your phone securely in place while you play.
This project started in March of last year when I was trying to play games on my phone. I had an idea for the original game gripper (can be found at game-gripper . com) it was a gamepad that worked on phones with slide out keyboards. Since then, we've received countless requests for a game pad that would work for phones without a keyboard such as the iPhone, the Nexus one and the Droid X. I started working on it right away, and this is the result of months of work.
In the end I decided to pair up with a company that manufactures bluetooth Keyboards. They are supplying me with circuit boards that have already been in production for a while. It works out great for this project because the CE and FCC certifications are done and phones can hook up to their standard HID interface. Button presses come across as letters on the keyboard so they are easily mapped with any of the existing emulators on the android market. I dropped an email to one of the major iPhone emulator makers and he agreed to team with us to support the game gripper.
Supported phones:
We have successfully gotten the Bluetooth Game Gripper working on these devices and will be avidly testing it on more in the coming weeks.
I-phone 4
Ipad
DroidX
HTC Touch Pro II
Nexus one
Nexus S
Motorola Click
Galaxy S tab
HTC Evo, if rooted with Cyanogenmod
With these phones, it does not work with the native bluetooth application or the Blueinput driver but we will continue to try to get them to work using other drivers
HTC Hero
Samsung Epic
Palm Pixi
If you want to volunteer to help identify phones that work with the Bluetooth Game Gripper, please email us at [email protected]. We would also like to know of any games you find that allow for key mapping.
Our goal of $30,000 only represents a small part of what it costs to get something like this into production. We set the goal low so that we can easily hit our target in the short, 2 week time frame we have set, get funded, and get into production. That way, you can get your Game Gripper as soon as possible. We hope to start shipping in late April or sooner. Thank you for any and all donations, support, facebook posts, and tweets to help get this product off the ground!
*Note: Using a backed-up game ROM is only legal if you properly back up a cartridge that you own, which I do. I do not support or condone illegal downloading.
Project location: Salt Lake City, UT
seems like some good alternatives. i like playing ps2 on my phone but some games cant be played with a wiimote which is pretty much my only option now.

Hello,
I was sitting in my office today with my new Xoom in its charging dock next to my decent array of monitors and I thought to myself, hey, wouldn't it be cool if I could just drag my mouse over and use my tablet?
So I started investigating the potential for uses of Synergy with android and it seems more feasible with tablets in the market now more than ever, especially with the dock and it's nice resolution
I mean, checking and composing e-mail, small web surfing or using it for RDP or something of the nature for some quick tasks, or just for some media.
If you're like me and feel this could be a great idea, post in this thread and I'll see what I can do about getting the word out.
I know there is a smallllll project somewhere out there, but it doesn't seem to have any progress since last year.
Lets get the ball rolling!
iDisplay is already available on Android:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.idisplay.virtualscreen
Bad reviews for that app. Great concept though. I will try it.

This is already an accepted feature request by the Synergy project:
http://synergy-foss.org/pm/issues/572
If anyone decides to work on this, they should probably talk with the Synergy developers so that it's added as an official part of the project.
I cant get iDisplay to download from Market. Gives me an error. Both from phone and online market.
I looked at iDisplay, but after initial and subsequent read-throughs of the OP, I'm not sure that's exactly the concept he was talking about. To me, it doesn't sound like he wants to use his tablet as an extended display, but rather be able to control his tablet (and its ANDROID OS) using his computer's mouse and keyboard, but without the use of a program that simply duplicates the tablet's display on one of the PC monitors, but have the cursor and focus shift to the tablet as if it WERE just another extended display

Right-o good friend. Why would I want to use windows when android can do the little tasks I'd like? I think it'd a cool concept and have downloaded and tried the beta software for it on my Xoom, but its pretty early stages and doesn't have a mouse icon or much keyboard support.
Just trying to get people interested to further develop this awesome concept.
Thanks for the backup =)
No problem....this is something I could see myself using daily

Does anyone use their Xoom for taking handwritten notes?
I want to use the device for school and got a great pen that works with it, but I only found a drawing app that MAY work.
What does everyone else use for notes? Does anyone hand-write their notes?
I did purchase evernote, but may opt out due to that they have access to your notes (crazy). Plus it is "typed" input only.
Thanks in advance
I'm looking for something like this as well.
I bought the T9 keyboard hoping to be able to write quickly with my stylus, but unfortunately the handwriting recognition is far poorer than my writing allows. Could never be useful in real life for me.
There were several good ones for the iPad when I had it - I'm sure a good android version will come around soon.
Try Handrite and Excellent use case review for stylus note apps
You should try Handrite. It has the beginnings of the iPad apps reviewed in the link below. The fact that it integrates to Evernote is a plus. I think I have found something that will work for me for now.
But for the Holy Grail of stylus based input apps...
I ran across this review of the note taking apps for iPad. The review uses the specific context of a medical professional; but I think it does a terrific job in highlighting the features that will be important to any stylus based app written for Honeycomb. Notes Plus looks like a winner with Note Taker HD a close second. Both developer web sites have very informative videos introducing their applications. I would recommend that we all lobby these developers to be "first to market" for their Android Honeycomb versions. Some of you older readers may find it interesting that Note Taker HD is written by Dan Bricklin. Dan was the author of VisiCalc, the original spreadsheet and precursor to Lotus 123 which was blown out of existence by MS Excel.
Link to the review: http://www.imedicalapps.com/2011/03/ipad-stylus-review-note-taking-apps-best/
Link to Notes Plus: http://notesplusapp.com/
Link to Note Taker HD: http://www.softwaregarden.com/products/notetakerhd/index.html . Videos at the bottom of the page.
One additional point... When asked about an Android version, Dan Bricklin (Noter Taker HD) commented that he wants to get the backlog of features in the iPad version completed before he begins an Android port. He also commented that in order to get the required performance for the app, he needed to do a lot of system level and direct hardware coding... so it is likely not a trival porting effort. Viet Tran (Notes Plus) stated that he wouldn't begin looking at an Android port for another 6 months. Viet probably will need to address the same performance coding issues that Dan speaks of.
Along that vein, can someone point out the holy grail of styluses?

Great write-up...Thanks! D'Oh---Ipad gets all the goodies! Handrite is pretty good..will try it out in class!
I purchased the Pen/Stylus from Amazon - it is noted as "Kensington 2nd Generation Apple iPad 1 and 2 / iPhone / iPod / Motorola Xoom Tablet / Galaxy / Blackberry Playbook Virtuoso Touch Screen Stylus and Pen (Black) Newest Model"
It is a solid pen plus the back side is a stylus!
I use WritePad with a Targus stylus and it works wonderfully. What shocked me was the fact that it has a built in function so that if you write " 1+1= " it will work as a calculator and type out 1+1=2 (not that I am actually using it for simple math but i though that was cool. Check it out online and see if you like it.
I have the Kensington. I like it because it is about 1/2 inch longer than the other capped pen stylus. It feels more like a standard pen in your hand. It works well with the Handrite app.
Don't get a pogo. I have a boxwave that is awesome and it appears to be the way other companies are making them now. Also there is a project on kickstarter called cosmonaut that I have ordered one from. If I ever get it and remember I will report back on the quality.
Ok, so of the 180,456,192 Note taking apps for android that I have installed on my Xoom over the last 2 weeks. This one seems to be the best (I Think my Crap-tastic Griffin stylus has a lot to do with most little issues)
One request I would have for the developer is to come up with a way to detect the hand being placed on the screen to allow more natural writing position.
Even if the dev where to maybe add a box or an area of the screen that is not part of the drawing canvas. possibly disable the lower half, and do and auto-magic scrolling when the text reached that far?
I do like the app. It has a way to go but it is a good start. And thanks for the stylus suggestions.
I haven't tried it yet but something like Writepad by a company called Phatware used in conjunction with Evernotes might be a useable solution. They just released a new version.
Just Google "phatware writepad for android"
Simple Overview of a Targus Stylus. Works and feels pretty standard. I also take a look at Handwrite App and text highlighting.
Writepad has a 24 demo apk available. I tested it out and I feel it is by far the best solution I have found.
How is writepad for other things than text?
If all I wanted to write was text, then I would just used a keyboard - a very important feature for me is to be able to seamlessly switch back from figures (mathematical in nature, not detailed sketches) to [hand]writing. How well does Handrite do this?
i use this for notes at uni. Wicked app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cerience.reader.app&feature=search_result
EzPDF Reader has freehand annotations now, too. It's only a buck and looks/works fantastic on the XOOM. It's my favorite PDF app by far, and the freehand annotations made it even better.
ezPDF Reader
I just need a good stylus now.

FreeNote
I do not have a Zoom, only a Droid phone - but I tried out a bunch of handwriting apps including Handrite and Genial Writing on that and found that for me, the best is FreeNote. I was so impressed that I wrote a review/user guide on it over at Droid Forums:
droidforums.net/forum/app-announcements/183513-app-freenote-game-changing-hand-writing-app-keeping-notes.html
The developer of FreeNote is from China.
ICS Note has both the old S Memo and the new S Note.
I have tried both. The S Note is very similar to S Memo, but has some extra new features of the Premium Suite.
I would say use S Note is good enough, but I am lost to see the reason for Samsung to include both apps. May be I missed something.
Can someone with good experience shed some light here?
Differences compiled from replies:
1. S Memo has a S Memo Lite (double tap with pen button pressed to quickly bring up app),
2. S Memo has widgets.
Unfortunately SNote does not have the double screen tap while pressing the SPen button to pop up a S Note Lite version ontop of any application running (pretty convenient for me actually). So in order to conserve that function they had to leave it installed.

OK. that counts one. Anything else?
S-memo has a widget for home screen, the other app doesn't have it.

Any others?
If these are the only two features, I would say Samsung shall really merge the 2 apps into one. It should be an easy task for them.

I totally agree... in fact, yesterday morning I searched the forums and couldn't find any threads relating to this so created my own:

They say great minds think alike!
My biggest frustration is the functionality with Evernote. S-Note syncs, but uploads as an attached file.

I have read the other thread of yours. Your shared experience and others replies enhance my thought: Samsung did not think twice before launching S Note, may be it was in a rush to get out the Premium Suite.
My frustration is similar to yours: I do not want to use all three apps (and spend time on riding through the learning curves), but just one primary note taking tool. If I have to use all three apps with complimentary features, they should be easily synced and shared.
The app is preferred to be/have:
Nice features of S Note and the S Memo Lite (the quick double tapping feature),
Manageable. With all the different file name extensions and folder locations, I have problems in finding where the S Note, S Memo, and S Memo Lite files are.
Portable. Will S Note and S Memo still be around in a year time after the current hot Galaxy Note phone is superseded? May be Evernote is a better choice in this regard.
Also once I saw a record button over top of the app... Donno in which app but it's not there!!! That's for recording the onscreen activities right?

When opening the s note application choose idea note out of the 6 templates. Thats where the recording feature is found. And yes it does record everything done on screen.

open S note notebooks in my desktop
Hi,
is there anyway to open the .snb notebooks in my desktop and edit them ... i love the app and use it as my daily diary ... but cant continue if i cant edit them and save them on desktop ...
please help
I have not found one.
S-features are nice, but not really suitable for notes that are to be kept and used in future.
I am going to use something like Evernote.
I am too a bit underwhelmed and puzzled by those two apps, the fragmentation and lack of critical features (like seamless sync to online with full editing support, not only picture edit) makes all this pen thingy little more than gimmick.
I installed mostly everything that was mentioned on xda (like quill, skitch, floatnote, etc) but still nothing clicks for me.
It looks like the companies develop such software just to have something nice to put on your home screen or to make some enticing marketing videos. It's a pity, especially that some features are very nice and surely there was some serious work put into them (like handwriting/ecuations recognition).
In the end even if I would really like to use more then notes and such I can't find myself using more than the following two features:
- screen shot editing
- handwritten formula for calculations (via search->wolframalpha).
Both because they are mostly self-contained and once the activity is over I'm done, so no further editing/sync/open format/ future proofing is needed.
The best app for your HTC ONE has finally returned to the play store!!
Smart IR Remote http://8xvb.qr.ai
No I don't work for them. This app simply blew my mind after trying so many other remote apps on my One. Every other app had such an ugly GUI, but this one is beautiful. I have replaced all my remotes in my home with this one app. It's also useful for trolling at bars.
BTW their support is awesome! They will quickly add your device to the app of its not in there (I did not have this problem), but I can say they respond to emails quick as hell.
Anyways, go check it out! It's a must have app for HTC One owners!

Aside from backing up your remote layout and the automatic volume-lowering-function, what else differentiates this application from the remote application already on your HTC One?
Just curious in case I should switch over.
The TV application is useless, at least for me. My country isn't listed and I couldn't get my TV to work. With this app I configured my 2 TVs at home in seconds, you just have to select the make

The TV app just doesnt allow for much customization of the buttons. In smart ir remote you can also create macros. I have one that turns on/off my tv, audio system and set-top box with one button. Smart remotes are useful too. I can take all the important buttons from multiple remotes and combine it into one remote.

Right now it doenst seem to work with rooted devices, or at least non sense roms like mine (running Beanstalk 4.3.1001). But I emailed the developer and they claimed they will be working on solving this problem, but I was looking at all the functions it had and now I'm SUPER excited to see if they can get it to work, I would love to put this bad boy to work.
