I have a Telus One, 1.44 hboot, htcdev unlocked and can't get s-off through revone, moonshine or hasoon. They all give a various error message; revone: [-]Failed to map memory (updated sdk and now revone gives me error 2) moonshine: unlock through htcdev and try again hansoon: revone failed(error code = 2). So I decided to try and lock the phone again thinking I would later unlock again with revone and still got the same error messages. Should I unlock, flash recovery, then try again with a rooted rom? Stock rooted or any rom? Thanks
I had similar issues, with my bell phone, I was unlocked but i wasn't rooted, I rooted it, then tried, it worked straight away, try rooting it

Tried to, did it through the All-in-one tool kit, says it worked tried to root but no joy. After trying to get to recovery to flash su I couldnt get into recovery, it would just load android. Tried to flash recovery manually but that didnt work either, same thing just loads into android.

Got passed the first step in revone but when I rebooted to gain s-off gave me error 1. I guess I just have to keep trying maybe it will work one day????
Go into setting when you phones booted normally, go to power or battery, and de-select fastboot.
Now you can use your recovery.
I would try rooting, but revone should use its own root exploit.
And sometimes it takes several attempts.

Power off the phone, instead of rebooting.
Instead of rebooting, make sure to power off the device AND make sure to remove the quick boot setting before rebooting or Power Off.
hey, did you try to get into recovery thru the AIO Tool?
Well I got into recovery and got root, now to try and s-off again once I get home from work.

can you get into hboot/fastboot? if you can then use the HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit to flash a recovery (cwm)
if that doesnt work the use the HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit to relock the bootloader (assuming its unlocked)
once bootloader is relocked flash the HTC AT&T Stock ICS RUU in order to flash the ruu you must first download it on a pc, make sure you have htc drivers-then run the ruu like you would any other pc program...it will walk you through the rest of the way...if for some reason you cant download the ruu from the link above, i got the link from here http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-vivid-att/software-updates
let me know if any of that worked and/or didnt work...
i ran the ruu, rooted again and i am still s-off, can u tell me how to proceed

Have you reflashed the boot.img?
Successfully gained S-Off and Unlock via Revone. Needed to revert to return phone. Successfully locked and gained S-On, although "tampered" appeared on the b/l screen...
Problem now is WiFi no longer works. I cannot flash a complete ROM via RUU, it fails at updating signature. I cannot flash an OTA zip for the same reason. I cannot enter recovery - all I get is the red triangle.
I cannot regain S-Off, or Unlock (via Revone). Error 2.
I've tried firmware.zip - many parts fail. Although my ROM version is now dated April 12th not May 3rd.
Other than WiFi and tampered, the phone works.
I'm stuck!
You should have done s on only when everything else is stock, your lucky your phone even turns on.
I would try to re unlock it, flash a custom recovery and flash a rom get it working again. Then s off and try the whole going stock procedure again.

Done that. However, if the bootloader's knackered, or partly so, a Custom ROM won't flash a new bootloader. Not sure why I need the interim step. My idea was to S-off now unlocked a try RUU again

You can't take an OTA on an unlocked bootloader. You must have stock bootloader and stock recovery.
Yes. You just have to relock the bootloader with fastboot oem lock, grab the OTA, then send the unlocktoken to re-unlock. The firmware update will update your hboot and whatnot, however, and you won't be able to downgrade with a RUU. In theory, you could use a RUU for the new OTA but one is not available.
Good news, however, is that revone s-off does function with the updated hboot. I just s-off'd about 5 minutes ago with the new hboot and revone 0.2.1.

That's the way I did it earlier today. Failed in a terminal window on the phone but worked fine using shell via adb. Took about three minutes with zero errors. Your results may vary, but I successfully installed the OTA from Sprint, installed the stock rooted rom, then revone s-off with no errors.

Did you HTC DEV Unlocked before you S-Offer and which version of Revone did u use 0.2 or 0.2.1?
I get a "segmentation fault" fail/error...
Thanks for you help man...

Omg people stop spreading that you have to relock the BL to take an OTA. You do not need to relock the boot loader, you only need to have stock recovery and stock system apps
I always run all my phones with rooted stock and take every OTA with an unlocked boot loader just fine
If you are relocking the BL then you are adding unnecessary steps to the process. You also do not have to s-on for an OTA I have seen some saying you must s-on too... Let's stop spreading the incorrect info

I unlocked via HTCDev, and used 0.2.1. I used it via ADB shell, I did not use it on the phone itself.
Also contrary to what the guy above me said, I had to RELOCK THE BOOTLOADER to accept the OTA, it failed otherwise on two seperate Ones.

That's weird, my sprint one and two friends with T-Mobile also took ota without relocking it, also never had to relock my nexus7, galaxy nexus, evo4g, evo3d or evo shift. I do know that you must relock it to use an RUU tho
I guess there is no telling what variables are out there... I have also seen people say you must be s-off to flash recovery which should only require unlocked BL go figure....

Unlocking the bootloader and SOFF are different. Unlock through HTC then use revone with adb shell and you shouldn't have any problems.

Yep understand they are 2 different things. But my understanding of the REVONE exploit was that you could unlock the boot loader and achieve root access w/o HTC DEV Unlock and of course S-OFF. At least you could before the .31 update.

I can't comment on revone before 1.31, but it does fail for me without being dev unlocked.
I currently have a stock rogers htc one on 4.1.2 and hboot 1.44 with stock recovery and s-on.
I've gone through the steps for s-off using revone but it always fails after ./revone -P command. It gets root access successfully and then eventually just reboots the phone. Revone successful is not shown and no error is given.
I have waited 2min or more and restarted the process and it will reboot the phone again after revone -P with no errors.
Weird thing is if I continue with the steps after the reboot and do ./revone -s 0 -u it says successful but it doesn't really do anything as I'm still s-on.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If your boot bootloader is unlocked via HTC dev, try installing a custom recovery and rooted ROM and then s-off. Revone failed for me when I didn't run revone in su adb shell.

might have to bite the bullet and hope warranty goes through even with tampered in bootloader.
T-Mobile HTC One 4.1.2/1.27.531.11
HI
I am trying to covert my TMO HTC one into the GPE and I can't mange to get S-OFF.
I am on the last TMO version of 4.1.2/1.27.531.11 and hboot 1.44.I am boot loader unlocked, TWRP and rooted.
When I try either with root toolbox on the phone or adb from computer to apply revone I get the following error at ./revone -P
"revone failed (error code -6)"
Please let me know if anybody has any suggestion as to how to fix it.
Thank you so much
Gabe
Hi
Any luck getting your HTC One running 4.1.2 to S-OFF? I've just picked up a Rogers HTC-One which is also running stock 4.1.2 and I'm avoiding the OTA update so that I can S-OFF...but seeing this thread gives me some concern.
Thanks

Because people have lives and don't just waste their time going though hundreds of posts. The mistake was not to search for specifics like : can you s-off on 531.11? However, I accepted the OTA before I even thought about S OFF. And I only thought about S OFF when I wanted to covert it to GE. After I played with GE I am back to leaked htc 4.3 with sense 5.
This week sound silly, but just keep repeating it until it works. Revone works on the Rogers stock firmware.

After trying for hours to s-off, I have nothing to show for it. My boot loader is unlocked and I'm on 1.56 with viperone. I've tried firewater and rumrunner and neither have given me anything.
Firewater just gives the whelp message for whatever reason and rumrunner just runs through the 8 things and says reboot and run again and it keeps doing the same thing.
What has worked for you guys? The last time I did this I was able to use revone but now I have a new One that I got from at&t warranty.

... FireWater has been known best for 1.56 hboot. You should try some more even if you are already tired of doing that. Never let the device sleep during the process cuz it asks for superuser permissions many times. Even if this doesnt help, download another copy of Firewater and then try again :good: ...
If Firewater says whelp this sucks Firewater won't work blah blah then no amount of changing roms will help. You're stuck
