I will try to por some roms to our device. Since I request one time someone to port Slimbean (since is pretty fast) to our s3 mini, also will try with any MIUI. But no luck. So I am planning to start porting, but 1 thing that is needed:
First of all you need to choose a porting rom of phone with similar spec's as your phone have i.e Processor,Ram,internal Storage, size,Camera and same android version otherwise it will not boot up
But I need help to know wich model will work.
Thnks for any help

Hi everyone!
I've been an android user since the G1 and have had many different devices since then(htc magic, sony ericsson xperia x10, lg eve-yuck, htc desire, etc) and I have now just jumped on board with the Galaxy Tab!!!
I'm totally stoked and very happy to be joining everyone here in samsung tablet land, and I just wanted a litttle helping hand to speed things up for me a bit
So basically, I have a GSM tab thru rogers that I have just rooted and installed clockworkmod recovery on. I decided to flash the MoDaCo custom rom on and play around for a bit with no problem. What I need some help with tho, is maybe a brief explaining of the differences between the very few roms available right now for our tabs.. overcome v1.2.3, MoDaCo, etc.
I know for example, when dealing with my desire, there are a bunch of roms all catering to diff needs/wants/etc and they have diff looks and features not to mention diff versions of android-2.1/2.2/2.3
Whats the deal with the galaxy tab? Any help is much appreciated. Opinions are all welcome.
(if 3.0 honeycomb was available I wouldn't be asking this right now lol)
THANKS EVERYONE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO KEEPING UP WITH THE TAB SCENE ALONG WITH YOU ALL!!!!!!
Hi!
i needed some help from you.As you said u have installed the clockworkmod recovery.I have been trying to do that from the past 2 days but im not able to.i have unrooted my samsung tab, and i have checked if the bootloader is locked and it is not.and i have installed the Rom Manager. But when i try to click "FLASH CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY" i get and error " error while downloading from server. Please make sure that you have a stable internet connection, and that your SD card is inserted and has free space!" Can you please help me with this?
Hey, sorry for the late reply..
I had a few problems starting out with rom manager as well.. You have probably figured it out already, but I would grab the overcome rom that has cwm attached already.. Super easy. Once you get it installed you can easily use rom manager to boot into cwm whenever you like..

Will CyanogenMod roms for the Galaxy Mini work with the Dart (t499)?
No. But in madteam forums there's a cyanogenmod development going on for the dart

CWM is fixed and working on this phone.
CyanogenMod 7.1 is mostly working, there is still a delay in the screen turning on with an incoming call, and the buttons at the bottom don't light up. But so far it is looking pretty good.
Also if you are planing on doing the network/sim unlock, it requires the original rom, so you might want to do that before switching to CM7.
Unfortunately the forums are down right now, but see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19936092&postcount=100
I am thinking about buying a dart soon and I want to make sure I got this all right. In order to flash CWM you need to flash the recovery madteam has made because it cannot be flashed through ROM manager? ALso after having CWM on the Dart, does a specific version of CM7 have to be flashed that was specifically made for the dart or can any Galaxy Mini rom be used?
continue developing
ive noticed that development seems to have dragged to a halt on the t499 and i was wondering if someone would be interested in making a project out of this, perhaps continue developing on the cm7 that has already be started, or the cm9 that the thread has been closed on, im not too experienced in development on android but id be willing to help any way possible
Hello All,
I"m having a Galaxy GT-I9000, which was originally from Europe. The last update I got from samsung is 2.3.3 (GINGERBREAD.XWJVH). I dont think samsung will publish any updates for this model anymore.
I would like to go with the custom ROM, I know It's not so easy to as I say.
Is there any easy way to decide and install it ASAP. Plz guide me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance

Actually this question was asked countless times already. I'm not trying to be smart or something like that but there are several similar threads already.
Try to look within this General Forum and in the Question & Answer Forum and you will surely get an answer.
Install slimbean. if unsatisfied try flashing others.

Just search a bit... http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=665.
Make a clean install of ICS333 2.0.1 ROM. The most stable and memory friendly ROM so far (ever). It's very fast also.
The JB roms are on par - try SlimBean or CM10 (but flash Semaphore 2.6.0 kernel on CM10). Don't try JB 4.2 - tt's very new . Wait 1-2 months for good releases.
without creating a new thread, but along the lines of this subject already, can I ask, if there are any custom rom's that include the official samsung email application? I know that's specific, but its for some testing..A port from another samsung device maybe,,,tia
I am very happy with Slim Bean. It is "slim", and very battery efficient. I could use a full battery charge on 3.5 days, with mail, sms and few phone calls.
Just be careful with the last version, 3.0, that has a battery drain problem. I can only get 2 days from a load.
I used RemICS 1.3.1. very good, but lags at times.

Hello ,
few days ago i updated my gf's s2 to new JB that was leaked offical samsung but from odin, then i got an idea, cuz i have Captivate Armani I9010 and i was using Remics JB as last rom, cuz it was look rly nice likly s3 rom, but i didn't like aops dialer layout and some more staff and i got idea of porting S2 or even S3 rom to captivate, and i was playing with some tutorials and android kitchen but without lucky, as I have rly bad knowledge of programing thinks , but I'm trying and want to learn more, my point was that maybe its posible to use some custom aops rom as base(ofc if developer agree) and port s2 rom over, i know that to port stock apk's form s2 that i like i need to port aslo framework, but what else?
Is someone with knowledge are up to help me or take this project if it interesting?
Or if this is totally wrong , what is real way to go of port s2 rom to captivate? I'm sure that its posible i saw some video of s2 rom on i9000 with is pritty much same as capativate. (it was GB i think because video is old) but if it able to port one rom there is no difference but what is good way to start.
I am really sorry about my English , its not my main language, and I am interesting in learning as much as i can about android dev.
Ps. OR mabye it would be easy to just port some of apk instead of porting whole rom. (secphone seclaucher secmms seccontacts systemui etc etc)
Greetings.

The best way to go about porting a ROM would be to ask one of your fav dev and read one hell of a lot!
Theming is fairly easy, you open the app with something like apktool and work your way through (or can use kitchen). As far as porting apps, it would mainly be the framework but you gotta keep in mind functionality that the Cappy doesn't have.
Reading and guides are really your best friends here. It can all be self learnt but it requires a lot of patience, gotta expect some good old headbanging lol
Here's a thread that could help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916814
Thanks,
I will probably start with port some apks but, as its not that hard job, but should like to learn how to port rom really i was reading some guides with was like its ok for any phone from same generation cpu like armv7 ported and base rom need to be same version, used same manifecture of device . and what i did used deo-dexed s2 rom JB 4.1.1 official one (aslo found one slimed s2 rom 4.1.1 aslo) and tryed few different as base CM10 for cappy was one of them its 4.1.2 but i think there is no big difference i tryed some 4.1.1 roms as base with was work on phone ok but when i made rom trought those guides its stack on bootanimation and logcat just spam that like every apk die
That was one of guides where it's says that it will work for all stock/cm/aokp roms ICS and JB updated.
There are few really easy steps and what i expected is that phone will boot and will be buggy as **** till a lot of tweaks but it didnt even boot ((
PS. I was looking around and i found that there are some custom rom (this was for s2 ) that are based on samsung base not aokp or cm. And they have all features of custom rom with all stock samsung look witch i like and stock phone/dialer/contact/tw/systemui/ etc etc/
My questions is there mabye that kind of rom for captivate or at least i9000 since i think its easier job to port from i9000 then from s2. And what would be base because last fw for cappy or galaxy s is GB, is there any posiblilty to get ISC or JB samsung based rom on this device?

They can all be ported, it's mostly framework. Although, I never ported a ROM so I'm not the best one to guide you through this. If I'm not mistaken, there are guides in XDA-U. Also, there are quite a few nice Devs around here that could help you through it.
Thanks, I saw some of those guides some are generic some are on example but i for porting samsung (s2) based rom i need to use some jb base for captivate cm or aokp but there some difference when porting roms even if both base and port are same version JB . Cuz they are not on same base. And i hope it is not difficult to make. If it's not hard I would please ask some od dev to give me some guide. On what i have to take care . What to do and i will gief all effort and time to make it working.

There's ports for the Galaxy S2 and Nexus S so I would assume it's possible. There's things not working though such as Wi-Fi, vibrate and so on.
I don't know how much you would have to change doing a port of Flyme OS but in all fairness, unless you are extremely proficient with Android and Flyme, I wouldn't recommend it.
If you still want to go ahead though then check these links out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...vatives/port-flyme-os-1-0-5-27-10-12-t1958726
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-s/development/rom-flyme-os-1-0-5-10-20-2012-t1946065
Again, I don't know how much you would have to change (libs etc) in these ROMs to get them booting on the One and get some of the non-working components working again.

Thanks for your reply but this one is based on kitkat 4.4.4 and no one till now did try to port to htc one so i decided to port it and try it out on our htc one and those wifi vibrate etc can be fixed but first i need to get it booting
Closest port to the One I've found is the One V
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292536
I'm no dev so I don't know how much would need to be edited apart from updating the base from CM9 to CM11.
There's people better qualified than myself who could help though I just thought I'd try and give you a little push in the right direction
