Xperia Sp Dual boot/custom roms - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello i would like to know if Xperia sp is Dual boot enable yet... and if you can flag any custom roms on it..
thanks

Dual boot requires a custom kernel that supports dual booting.
And for custom roms, there's the development section. There are a couple of stock based roms in there if you are interested.

You can use any Rom that is based on a stock firmware and kernel.
Make sure you have cwm recovery to flash Rom

Not unless someone manages to find an exploit to unlock it.

i heard you need to be on stock based firmware to install the recovery,
but you can flash on other roms and manually flash the kernel or something like that
im not too sure,

BL is already unlockable, one unlocked u lose all DRM, there is no need for exploit.
Root was needed just to push the recovery to the stock kernel.
And CM uses a completely different kernel than the stock and the only way to flash it by unlocked BL

Exactly. I'm not sure of the chances that non-unlockable devices will become unlockable. If I said any amount if time I'd be making it up :/
One of the devs said that Sony bootloaders are locked up tight though...

[Q] Why do we need to flash boot.img for non stock roms?

Hey guys, i came from a HTC incredible S
it had AOSP roms as well and you just flashed the zip and it booted.
however here on the xperia z forums, i am reading that you need to flash the boot.img manually for AOSP roms
is there a reason for this? thanks
I think because the recovery is not working 100%

Yes because Sony's phone doesn't have a special partition for recovery that's why it's integrated with the kernel.
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
Boot.img is the kernel, you can only write to the boot partition in fast boot mode for Sony devices. Regardless of model, its the same for x10, arc, P, S, Z, etc

Just look in the title for [LB], or if it's based off stock Sony FW it should work.
You'll find all roms for locked bl in the development section.. Original android dev is for custom roms. Go explore. It's not a hard job. Plus there aren't many. Just a few brilliant ones.have fun.:thumbup:

Try this working for me unlocked bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60185391
Wish a developer to create boot image with custom recovery (such as Philz Touch) for LBL, of course.
Here is the unofficial update of DooMKernel https://mega.co.nz/#!PsJxWLwY!R21s7H4x1fKpE5sM0XU483G4HMi1vRaM20_EIk3eyNU

Try flashing kernels that are actually for lollipop and not for kitkat... or maybe you should try installing a different ROM(personally I have installed DstrikerZ1 Kai lollipop rom with RockZ1L kernel and it works just fine!)
