Locations is now available for HTC WP7 devices for offline navigation. You can use Wi-Fi to download maps for many (most) regions around the world. You must connect to a charger to download.
The description is "Find your way with directions or voice guidance. You can download maps to your phone for offline use, or search and browse online maps when you're connected."
Current version is Locations_v2.1.0.0.xap
Rename files to:
Locations_v2.1.0.0.7z.001
Locations_v2.1.0.0.7z.002
ie take .7z from end of filename
.002 is giving me a 404 File not found...can you re-up?

if you have HTC device, or dont know how to handle with attachments, no need to download this, simple go to marketplace, HTC Apps and download from there
or for other devices, use wAppStore for PC or WP7

After renaming how do I copy to HD2? It's not a .xap file.
Extract with WinRAR or similar on PC then deploy. Id suggest you take dxdy's suggestions above instead though.

Yes, extra with a compression program WinRar, Winzip, 7-zip
Then deploy using a .xap deployer such as XAPDeploy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016766
Connect USB, fire up Zune, then deployer and load xap
Having a free GPS app like the one in Lumia phones, was my only reason to have an unlocked ROM. Now i think i'll keep my actual ROM (XBmod-Yuki). Congrats to HTC for having this app available to all.
As dxdy said if you have HTC device the easiest way is to go to market.

Depends I what you want.
I prefer to have an .xap that I can load if/when I change to a different rom. I don't always want all .xap apps installed right away.
Downloading a file this each time from the marketplace would take considerable time.
That's why I went to the effort of making it available
is many tools to download xap from marketplace to PC....
i also suggest one...
It works, just need to decompress to get the .xap.

I have an LG Optimus 7. Is there any way that I can install this app? I tried installing aAppStore from the link mentioned earlier in my Windows 7 laptop but I keep getting an error message before the app starts and it closes instantly... I also tried visiting the wAppStore.xap using the web browser of my mobile phone but I got a message that this type of file is not supported by my phone.
Any detailed help would be more than welcome!

Sorry, cant help. That's why I put this in the HD2 forum. It's a HD2 release, so I guess it will need some work to get it to work on an LG

why not install xap file with XAPDeployX? XAP install via IE is only for HTC devices with DFT custom ROM....
did your phone unlocked (Chevron or interop)? did you have .net Framework 4 and WP SDK installed on PC?
did your Zune running and synced with phone when try run wAppStore on PC?
P.S.
my advice: use Nokia Drive 2.0 if you can use this app.... is much better than Locations....

Thank you for the detailed reply. I just got the phone a week ago, so I am not familiar with all these apps and ways to install xap files. The phone is not unlocked.
I guess I will have to do a research on the apps that you mention, hoping that they would work (for example Nokia maps is bot available for my Optimus 7 through the marketplace).
Thanks again and apologies for the off-topic!

Hey guys. Have a problem with Skype. Recent update makes Skype only to Microsoft Account Sign in but I`m using different Skype accounts and don`t wanna merge them. So Is there any way to sideload old version of Skype? Found 2.13.0.290 but can`t sideload it. Application Deployment says "XAP file is invalid." and WPV XAP Deployer 2.0.0 says "Cannot read that as ZipFile". Same with current version available in store.
I have Lumia 620 with Black update and free unlock (2 apps I think).

You can't sideload XAPs from the store. Just connect one of your Skype accounts to a Microsoft account and problem solved...
You guys sideloading YouTube, right? Because there was good app. I need to use an older version of Skype whose allows me to login with my Skype creditenals instead of Microsoft one. I have found and tried "unlocked" Skype xaps with versions of 0.2.0.0, 1.0.0.0, 1.1.0.0. The most older version closes immidately after start and newer ones crashing when the cyan background appears. IM+ allows me to login with Skype but I can`t make voice calls through it.
So I need any version of Skype from 2.15.0.154 and lower that works with Lumia Black/GDR3 update. Maybe @AlvinPhilemon can help... And for sure I need non-interop version.
My point was that XAPs from the store are encrypted and thus can't be sideloaded, as you can only sideload plain unencrypted XAPs. How AlvinPhilemon obtained the unencrypted YouTube XAP is beyond me, but AFAIK the store encryption hasn't been broken yet, which leaves only the possibility of using either the XAP after it was installed (because they get decrypted after download) or taking the pre-installed one from the ROM (because those are also unencrypted).
Why is signing in with a Microsoft account such a problem for you in the first place? You need it to use most of the phone anyway, and as you've already experienced, older versions tend to have problems, so you will hardly get anything to work. And even if you do, there's always a possibility that Skype login still won't work in case MS changed something on their side.
Sadly I have no success with that
When I`m tricking a response with Fiddler, there is a c00cee3b error. I also tried to replace updated xap file on my SD card to outdated when install button is available on the SD card menu into marketplace. There is a constanly error during setup after 3/4 of the installing bar.
On interop-unlocked phones, it is possible (with some hacks) to extract the files for an app and re-build the .XAP archive. That's how the older YouTube version was resurrected.

I know. But there is also a problem with Skype xaps. Versions 0.2.0.0, 1.0.0.0 and 1.1.0.0 that I found unlocked are not working. v0.2.0.0 crashes immidately and newer ones shows cyan background before crash. There is also version 1.3.0.0 that have ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES string. Actual version 2.0.16.266 was "cracked" too and it also has that string.
I can`t install 1.3.0.0 and 2.0.16.266 versions on my Lumia 620 due to INTEROPSERVICES restriction and I can install 1.3.0.0 when ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES string is removed but it fails to work. It also crashing after the cyan background appears. 2.0.16.266 still gave an error after no ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES string but there is no reason for sideloading it - it`s available on the Marketplace and lacks of Skype account signing in support (people report that they still using their Skype account if they has been logged in in previous versions).

If you can successful install a skype without Interop Capability, then you succeed !!!
Just follow my steps to add Interop capability again.
Move skype on the SD Card.
Remove SD Card from the phone.
Insert SD Card on PC through card reader.
Now go to an Installation directory of skype in WPSystem\Apps\{***}\Install
Delete the DRM Encrypted WMAppManifest.xml file.
Now put your decrypted.xml which is an enabled Interop Capability.

I was little skeptical because of WMAppManifest.xml file. An idea to replace it and get some good things was discussed long ago with FAIL.
But anyway I did tried his method. I had successfully replaced that file but just didn't get needed result. App still crashes after the blue background appears for a second or less. Then I tried to move an app back to internal memory and then weird thing happened. Looks like it was failed to transfer my app back with modded file and an operation stuck somewhere between. Skype has disappeared both from Internal and SD card apps list of the Data/Storage Control ("Контроль памяти" in Russian) and it`s icon on the regular app list (one with all apps listed, opens by start screen swipe) turns into grey with no logo on it. When I tried to start it there is loading... ("Загрузка..." in Russian) sign with dot animation appears. I has leaved it in that state for the whole night but nothing happens and the phone was even half-charged after it.
Finally I have found new xap "for Lumia 610" which is WP7 xap and successfully sideloaded it but it crashes after the blue background like the all I tried before. FAIL
you just cant replace files and hope for the best.
sometimes you can trick apps with changed icons but not with complete xml codepages.
WMAppManifest.xml is used at installation of the application, but not to start the application.
Has anyone managed to install the official XAP files from windowsphone.com for example:

Here are the instructions for phone with an SD slot:
How do I install apps from an SD card?
It's easy to download apps and games from the Windows Phone Store and install them on your phone, but you can also transfer, or sideload, them from an SD card to your phone (if your phone supports an SD card).
To sideload an app or game, you'll need to have an SD card that contains one or more Windows Phone app files, also known as .XAP files. You can download .XAP files to your PC, and then move the files to the phone's SD card.
To download .XAP files from the Windows Phone Store on the web
Open a web browser and go to www.windowsphone.com.
Click Apps + Games, and then click the app you want to download.
Scroll down on the webpage, and then click Download and install manually (below the app requirements and supported languages).
When prompted, save the .XAP file to a location on your computer, SD card, or storage device.
Note
If you download the .XAP file to a location other than an SD card supported by your phone, you'll need to move or copy the file to an SD card to install it on your phone.
For information about moving or copying files using Windows Explorer (called File Explorer in some versions of Windows), go to the Windows website and search in the How-to section.
To install apps and games from your phone's SD card
Insert an SD card that contains one or more .XAP files into your phone.
On Start , tap Store , and then tap SD card.
Note
If you've just inserted the SD card or added the .XAP files, you might need to wait a few minutes before you can access your SD card from the Store.
Select the apps you want, and then tap Install.
Notes
Apps that can be installed are listed under Compatible apps.
You'll need to have the latest version of the .XAP file from the Store on your SD card before you can install it. If it isn't the latest version, it'll be listed under Incompatible apps.
Installed apps appear in the App list and games appear in the Games Hub. Depending on the specific app or game, you'll be able to use them as follows:
Free apps and games can be used immediately.
Paid apps and games that have a trial will be available as a trial version that you can purchase later.
Paid apps and games without a trial must be purchased before you can use them.

Running HTC HD7 with Deepshining v8 ROM.
I must add this is to play delisted legitimately purchased games and nothing to do with piracy!
Respectfully I will answer this...
But first: IDIOT!
those instructions are for windows phone 8, It can't be applied to wp7 even with the unlocked ones.
About your intentions: Humm... I'm the idiot, because I haven't thought of that...
The solution is to get the app decrypted from Chinese sites, and then you install then with whatever way you want, I already do that to crash test some really good or bad games and apps, I like them I buy the app, if it sucks, I remove the crap and forget about it.
If you payed for it and they won't give it to you anymore, you have the right to get it in any way you like, even if they call it "illegal".
Good day, if you need more info PM me.
why does Microsodt not mention wp8 anywhere in that description?
I am even logged in to their site and it still shows my HD7 as my device in the top right corner.
And which model wp8 has an SD slot? (I have a HTC 8X)
Upper left windows phone 8, is highlighted also the link says
en-us/how-to/ wp8 /apps/how-do-i-install-apps-from-an-sd-card
about the phones:
Lumia 620, 810, 820, 822
HTC 8S
Huawei Ascend W1 and W3
Samsung I8750 and I930
ok well that sucks, heres hoping wp8 gets hacked to sh*t soon
Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to view the file system of a Windows Phone 8.1 device? I have a phone that is developer unlocked and would like to the file structure of the device or access files that are hidden away from the user. I can see the downloads, music, photos etc using the new Nokia/Microsoft Files app, but can not get into something like the windows phone equivelent to C:\Users\xxx\AppData.
I came across this post on the forums which is an xap file for allowing browsing over a network (converts phone to a webserver) but could not deploy to Win Phone 8.1 using the deployment tools due to the file having a missing manifest - I suspect it works for Win Phone 8 rather than 8.1.
Are there any native tools in the Visual Studio environment to browse the device on a dev unlocked device?
Many thanks,
Simon

Yes, you can not deploy AllCap, because you are not Interop-Unlock, etc... only the ativ s allow.
You only have access to C:\Windows\... (It seems to me), that is why I said it was limited.

Hi...
I am having problem with my Lumia 535 in installing application from SD card. I manually downloaded many apps from Microsoft site & copied it to SD card. But when i try to install it, it shows ("Can't install company app. There's a problem with company app. Contact your company's support person for help"). Also when i try to install any app from Microsoft site directly, it takes me to the login page saying "Because you're accessing sensitive info, you need to verify your password." after login when I click the Get App button i get the msg "We tried sending a download request to your phone, but we did not receive a response from your phone.
Re: Lumia 535 App installation problem
Hello there arun_9847,
I think that the type of SD card that you are using might not be supported by Lumia 535 unless; it’s a class 4 SD card. Nonetheless, I hope these below-mentioned links can help you sort your problem. I would also suggest that you keep the Mobile Network activated and your phone connected to the PC or Laptop using a USB cable while installing the apps from your SD Card.
appsforlumia.com/how-to-install-applications-from-my-sd-card/
windowsphone.com/en-in/how-to/wp8/apps/how-do-i-install-apps-from-an-sd-card
microsoft.com/en-in/mobile/support/product/lumia535-dual-sim/smartguidance/?action=singleTopic&topic=GUID-16ADFF26-E34A-429F-A6BF-9D9826C1D7BF-8_10_1
In case if these above links do not help, you should visit a nearby Lumia store.
If the apps are Store apps (i.e. you downloaded them from windowsphone.com) just use the Store on the phone. You can download apps right there, or you can install them off of the SD card from there too (expand the App Bar at the bottom, choose "install local apps").
If they are company apps (from your employer or something), you need to open them on the phone. If they're already in your phone's SD card, use a file browser (there isn't one built in, but there are a bunch of free ones on the store) to open the .XAP files (same way you'd open a .doc file in Word). Alternatively, visit the website on the phone and download them that way; this will let you open the apps (and install them) directly. You could also email them to yourself, and open the attachments on the phone. Again, this only works for company apps.
If they are developer apps (i.e. not yet published), you have to use the Windows Phone Application Deployment tool (it's free, but it's part of the Windows Phone SDK, which is a big download). Connect the phone via USB, open the deployment tool, select the .XAP file to install, and hit the Install button.

If you manually download apps from microsoft store then copy it to your sd card and then open store then open menu in menu select install local apps it will show the apps compatible with your device.
If the app you are trying to install is of older version it will detect it as not compatible.
And when you try to install from windows store it ask for your password cause someone might try to download paid apps from your account and which might cause you money.
and make sure you turn on "send apps directly to my phone via push notification" this can be found under find my phone setting
