[Q] What are we using for notifications/LED? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I gave Lightflow a try a while ago, and kind of gave up on it....
Having come from a Nexus 4 (Galaxy Nexus before that), I'm really used to a stable and dedicated LED notification light. So I'm trying to get a handle on this HTC One and what it can do for me as far as showing me I have notifications.
What are you guys using to ensure you dont miss texts, missed calls, voicemails.....?

I'm using knock2+. It works like a charm.

Wow, thank you sir, this looks very promising.
So do you not really utilize the LED notification anymore?

Program that lets led light flash when getting a call

I had this on my evo...does anyone know if there is one available on the sns?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
you mean NoLED ?
that's the one that most people uses.
there are no LED in SNS, unless you are talking about the camera LED flash
I can't remember the name... but when someone calls the LED flash goes off when someone is calling...
Give me some time, I'll remember after lunch, once I get some energy going.
I'm taking about when someone is calling, not for a missed call

Flashlight app for XOOM (camera LED as a torch)

Hi guys,
I'm the developer of Tiny Flashlight + LED. I believe that it should work on XOOM (be able to use the camera LED as a torch), but I don't have the device and can't test it. Can someone test it and tell me whether it works on XOOM? Also, test the widget.
Thanks!

Both the app and widget work and it nearly blinded me! lol
One thing you might want to consider is to not force portrait mode which is common with the phone apps. Most people use the tablet in landscape.

Great! Thank you. I'll work on a Honeycomb update and add a landscape orientation.
Tesla LED works great on the Xoom also.

As stated already, works great. No complaints, but you've already said you're going to work on the layout so keep up the good work mate.
Fantastic. I was hoping Motorola would update their own proprietary app to support Xoom but that haven't yet. I'll have to look at this.
so... blinding...
any chance that the update will include brightness settings?

Just added the widget Flashlight like you add any other widget.
Wasn't able to add a widget to my homescreen, although app works fine

Try adding it to a blank screen that you are not using, I just dragged and dropped it on that screen. Then went to that screen and tapped it. Maybe there is some issue with how your screens are configured.

Nice to have since Moto dropped the ball on adding Xoom support to their own app.
Anyone notice the Xoom's flash has a weird yellowish tint to it? It's also like three times brighter than my Droid's flash, which is kinda neat.
I'm the developer of Flashlight + Led @ https://market.android.com/details?id=droid.pr.coolflashlightfree and let me know if it's working with xoom? I don't have the device so I can't test it.

Almost everything working. Maybe I am doing something wrong, the LED turns on, but to turn it off or make it blink doesn't seem to work.

Incredible 2 Notification LED?

Is the notification LED on the Inc S/2 RGB?
No .. so far all i ve seen is orange and green .. i ve had mine for about a month
Unfortunately not, I tried a couple apps to test it but it is only green and orange.
The apps probably need to update to support the dirc2

I am thinking the LED itself is just a dual LED... Orange and Green, no RGB.
No RBG on a newer android phone, in a world where led notification color options are almost a basic... doesn't seem logical. My girl just got the I2 after having a blackberry for the last two years, and THIS is her biggest disappointment with the phone so far. It HAS to be RBG!!! :/
Im pritty sure i seen the deadly color red... Or was that orange as well?
Will keep an eye on it

I agree. I think the more impressive part about it is that they stuck two LEDs in there (Green and Orange), but didn't bother to just put a single RGB (which I realize is actually three LEDs) for a much better experience. It seems a little lazy.
Hawkysoft - Pretty sure it was just orange.
^Lol. Lazy seems to be like the only possible solution here.
Quite Incredible, that a phone with the capabilities of an incredible s has no RGB led(s).
wat do u think HTC would have lost by adding this
go figure

It actually makes sense ... Morons are forgeting what is important and focusing on what they want ... What do they expect us to do with only two colours?

I would guess it's 99% certain that it only has amber and green as all HTC phones since the HTC desire seemed to have been like that.
If anyone wants to confirm, install my app (light flow lite) from the market. Run the app with an SD card in your phone and PM me with the details of the /sdcard/lightflow/tmp/led-ls-output.txt
I don't think my app actually works on the latest htc phones such as this one so I'm guessing they may have changed their permissions on executing the led files.
Pmed you.

Thanks. I can confirm the led's that it has:
green
amber
lcd-backlight
button-backlight-portrait
button-backlight-landscape
flashlight
Obviously out of that list only green and amber are used for the notification light and the rest are for controlling button lights, the screen and the flash.

Sorry, forgot to subsribe to the thread. It seems that they've changed the permissions of getting access to controlling the files. I've got a test build at the moment that may work with it, but only for rooted users as it needs to "su" to the unix shell instead of "sh" like the current market version does.
If anyone wants to give the new dev version of light flow a try PM me and I'll e-mail a version to somebody with root access to try.

Razr i messages

Hi i am the proud owner of an amazing Razr i but i have discovered one issue as it may or may not be. When recieving emails or sms messages the screen does not light up does anyone else have this issue i find it quite annoying
Mine doesn't do this either, I assumed it was normal...

Although i am very impressed with this phone i think this is quite a flaw the phone should definetly light up on incoming emails texts etc. I hope they bring out an update to fix it.

It`s not a flaw. There`s a LED to notify you, no need to waste battery using the screen.
You could also use the new active notifications app, it works very well.

I've been on Evolve since it came out (I still had my S4). It would crash constantly and I would never be able to send/receive pics and the Dev is a d!ck. Got my S5 and been on the stock messaging app and haven't looked back! Might try out Hoverchat (previously NinjaSMS).
I'm finding stock to be really sluggish with a lot Of lag. I uSe textra. It's very fast.

Only had the phone a weekend, so take this with a grain of salt. . .
Started stock obviously, but I got sick of Touchwiz on day 1 so switched to the Google Launcher.
When I did that, Google tries to take everything, (msg app included) so I started using Hangouts.
It is horrible. Really bad. The basic functionality is OK, but it is the other garbage that they stick in the way that annoys so much.
Sure- I could send this message using G+, but why would I, and now you've made me waste time telling you that.
Back to standard app, which seems better than previous Samsung versions. Open to suggestions though

I'm using Go sms pro. Found the stock app to be really laggy especially with large conversations. I think it was trying to load all the convos or something, as go sms only loads a handful at a time. Also has nice themes etc

I'm using Handcent as I like the level of customisation, the missed text reminder, different missed text tone options, plus able to give different contacts different LED colors, flash rates and vibration patterns. I've been using it for years and haven't come across anything better...

Galaxy S does that by defaut (excepted led color + flash rates) since S3 i think (i was using Light Flow for that back then).
Yes, i'm using defaut app, best to keep things simple imo.
I only install google keyboard to get better recognition while swyping.
I wonder how some people could crash it as i had some history of several years of messages imported and never seen any messaging app crash on any of my Galaxy S.
