[Q] Moving an app from stock rom to safestrap slot 2 - Motorola Droid 3

I'm new to android and would like to know if I am able to put my swype app (licensed in stock) on a custom rom in a safestrap slot.

you can use titanium backup pro, or rom tool box, to backup app, then install titanium in 2nd rom, and restore app

I used titanium backup pro, but swype complains about the license. Is there a way around that? Are there other files that need to be transferred besides swype.apk and libswypecore.so?

how did you install it the first time?

Ok, thanks. Do you know of a similar keyboard that uses swype-like movements that is free?

TouchPal Keyboard
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cootek.smartinputv5

lucky patcher app
Use the lucky patcher app to make it yours or download swype 1.5 from kickass torrent site and use lucky patcher on that.

[Q] Best way to back up?

I flash a lot. I'm getting sick of manually reinstalling apps. I used mybackup pro but it seems like it would forget apps. Right now I'm using AppBrain. Is there any way to back up all apps then reinstall them from the back up and have them run like nothing ever happened?
android should install them automatically once you link your phone with your google account. Other then that not that I know of, unless you move all apps to sdcard.
I think it only does that on the stock rom.
nope, did it for CM6 and Enomthers rom (sorry i cant remember how to spell it)

Installing apps after flashing new rom

Hi ppl
Is there any way to have all apps installed the way it was before switching to a new rom ? I mean when I try out new roms I have to install all apps again. I've tried my backup pro and titanium but they only restore all apps. Anyone has a faster way of doing this??
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA
I'm using MyBackup root therefor. Here you can restore all apps with the data in batch mode. But I think MyBackup pro should also do it.
Did u backup your apps along with all their data? There is an option in Titanium Backup to do so in the batch option. I still have my high scores of Temple Run
MyBackup Pro seems to be the best bet considering Titanium does create issues for some folks.
But do remember restoring apps can produce errors in the working of the ROM which otherwise wouldn't exist.
Safest best is to clean instal your apps again.
Tx guys but I cannot get all apps installed . It only restores them with their respective data. I don't wanna install all apps again one by one after flashing a new rom

Titanium backup has a batch restore mode where you can restore more than one app at a time. If this is not what you mean, I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
I haven't used titanium but I'll check it out. Just to make sure do the apps get installed or just restored? I mean do I have to hit the install button for every app?

Listen buddy, this is a community here. Respect others to get respect for yourself.
Your posts are quite inconsistent.
In the same thread, at the start of the post you mentioned you have used Titanium & a couple of posts later you state you HAVE NOT yet used titanium.
with incorrect/incomplete info no one would be able to assist you correctly & your frustration levels are going to rise.
@letmedanz I didn't mean to disrespect anyone but the way nonverbose responded wasn't cool.
Anyway what I meant when I said I used titanium was that I installed it and removed it within minutes. But I'm not here to prove anything so am gonna forget it and apologize to whoever I offended.

That's cool buddy..
Anyhow, a couple of options are available...
at most times when you install a fresh rom, android automatically installs the apps you had on earlier.
This happens when you run the new rom for the first time, in the initial setup.
Provided you have synced your phone with your gmail account.
once you provide your wifi and/or apn details android will automatically download and instal all the apps.
your second option is as you mentioned, third party apps like titanium & mybackup pro.
personally, i prefer MBP cos titanium has given me more than one problem.
MBP is a neat app, you can either backup/restore all apps or just select a few.
howevre , i still believe it is best to reinstall all apps after a new rom instal, cos restored apps may force close or have other issues specially if you are changing between GB & ICS etc
+1 for Titanium backup !!!
You can backup personnal applications, but their settings and your system settings too !!!
The retore process is quicker than google process because you haven't to download applications from network.

I have titanium backup pro and have not figured out how to restore all the settings. Maybe I'm confused, but I have to spend hours setting all the preferences, screens widgets etc each time I flash a new ROM. I've heard you can "Image" backup. Does Titanium do that?
Go backup and go backup pro is best..It don't prompt to install each and every app every time..batch restore with data..easy than titanium backup..

Make sure you know what you're talking about before you post. Titanium backup pro HAS batch restore mode in which you don't have to INDIVIDUALLY install every app.

What Is The Best Method For Backing App + App Data Without Root

So my charger is kind of wonky and I have to exchange my One since they can't just replace the charger due to company policies. What is the best method for backing up everything for a non-rooted device? I am mostly concerned about my save data from games and app configurations as well as the stuff that the apps installed onto my storage.
Thanks.

You could try Carbon Backup App from the play store. That works for non rooted phones, but you'll have to connect to PC to set it up properly.
Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en
More info here and PC download: http://www.clockworkmod.com/carbon
Agree with the post above, Carbon is the best for non root, it backs up to your sd card but you can choose to back it up to the cloud and it's easy to restore it as well

Best method is to use the HTC Backup app. It comes on the international and unlocked variants and is also in the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.backup&hl=en
Come on guys... I expected better.

Hmm, wonder if it only backs up app data for HTC apps. From the description, it sounds like it backs up all of your apps and data though. That would be pretty misleading if it doesn't.

Well HTC Backup doesn't backup all your app data, just the apps that HTC have preloaded, TV, Mail etc
How about
adb backup -apk -all
?????
Adb backup *.apk
This is the right command

Carbon backup is the best.
It does the same thing as wifi adb, but turn it into graphical UI and easy to use.
I moved my apps and data as well as sms in i9000, which is an old smart phone, to my new HTC ONE within 30 minutes.
YOU SHOULD REALLY TRY IT!!

i tried to restore cwm backup, but it says md5 mismatch.
what to do now ?
I think you can't restore stock based rom from cm because of the diff kernel. Not sure though.

oh yeah. just remembered that as you told. and that is true..

I had trouble restoring some MI9 system backups to MJ5. When I tried to restore them via TB, the process would just hang or say "The app is from a different ROM version..." or something like that. Maybe the problem you are having is because the apk is from a different build then the one you are running.

I would if I could, but I'm back on MI9 (warrantied my first N3 and they shipped me one with MI9).
If your rooted, maybe you can flash an MJ5 Rom (that hasn't been debloated) w/SS and backup the apk from it. Flash back to your stock nandroid and install the backup apk.
