[Q] MTP folder syncing via USB - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know the One (and 4.x devices in general) don't support connecting to a PC as a MSD. But does a solution exist to the sync the Internal Storage to a folder on the PC?
I've tried PureSync and that only picks up files on the root. Syncing via WIFI isn't suitable for the place I need to do this.

[Q] Unable to select USB mode and do file transfer

I was wondering if it is possible to transfer files from my Z1 to a linux desktop without installing any softwares?
Currently I think I am unable to do so because the option of USB Connection Mode is greyed out, rendering me unable to do anything about it unless I install the software (as depicted here)
And thus, are there any 3rd party apps that I can install or tweak some settings in my phone so that I can transfer files?

Most devices nowadays (if not all of them) use MTP to transfer files from and to the device. MTP is not well supported under Linux as far as I'm aware, there are a couple of guides out there to get it working, you shouldn't have too many issues finding those by using Google.
Personally I prefer to use ADB to transfer files between my device and my desktop, you'll have to have some experience working with the terminal, it's not hard though.

MTP - Can't copy files to device

Since I upgraded my Z3 Compact to Lollipop I'm unable to copy files or folder from my PCs to the device.
I plug in the USB cable, it informs me that it's connected in MTP mode. When I open explorer in Windows I can
Copy data from device to PC.
Delete files on the device from Explorer.
Create Folders on the device from Explorer.
Copy Folders to the device from Explorer.
But I CANNOT copy any actual files to the device.
I've tried the usual things, different USB cables/ports, various PC and OS variants. No joy on Win XP, 7, 8, 8.1, 10. Tried installing PC companion software, various versions of drivers and nothing seems to work. I don't have an SDCard installed (don't ordinarily need it or have one) so I can't use MSC mode.
It's incredibly irritating that something so basic no longer works. Anyone have any ideas that don't involve going back to 4.4? Thanks.
Have same problem on Xperia Z1, no clue what to do. Just using ShareIt for now...

Usb/adb connection issue

I am having a problem when I connect my N6 to a computer.
I can use fastboot commands and I can connect when I check the 'Camera PTP' but when I select MTP to transfer files it isn't 'seen' by my computer.
I have tried everything (well not 'everything as the problem is still here )... changing USB cables, deleting drivers ect wiping my phone and reinstalling stock rom but all to no avail.
I have read about this fault http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/82059/adb-not-working-but-fastboot-is but I can't find a solution.
Any help out there ?
What camera app are you using? I would try a different camera app, or uninstall and reinstall the camera app, sounds like that's the issue. The fact that you can run ADB commands tells me the computer see's the phone, give that a go. I use "pro capture" it's like 3.00 but it is one heck of a snapper.
I only have stock camera at the moment. The problem isn't with the camera as the computer sees 'PTP' and I am able to transfer files that way.
The computer doesn't see the phone when I select MTP file transfer.
I am on Windows 10.
FYI - I have the same issue with Windows 10 not seeing my N6 via MTP, but I still can use adb/fastboot commands with it, and use adb push to push files to it. To move files to/from my phone, I use AirDroid.

HELP!! Cannot access files!

Hi guys I reaaly need your help!!
1. so basically what happened is my screen is dead but phone is not! i managed to connect the phone to my work pc via usb cable and copied all the data i needed.
2. then somehow the pc hard drive died and i installed a new SSD one but unfortunately i accidentaly deleted a cruical partition on the faulty hdd so all the copied S6 contecnt is now gone.
3. dont ask me how but now, on my new freshly installed OS on my new ssd, i connect the phone again and try to access its folder but nothing is there!
** could i have somehow deleted a samsung partition as well through the windows 10 installation process? (seems unlikely i think).
** could the phone be displaying a question about how i would like to use the usb cable (charging only or data transfer)? if so why would this suddenly happen?
** I tried connecting to another pc but same issuer persists. the driver installs but cannot see files.
** could it possibly work on my home pc because it was previously connected there?
** the icon on the pc is that of a media transfer like an mp3 player. when i access it there are no files but when i right click i dont have an option to add folders so i'm guessing this maybe a permissions issue?
how can I access the files on the phone?! THANKS!!!
just to update i got it all sorted out trying to press randomly on the phone apparently i managed to access the files so what i can understand is that the phone keeps a list of all the pc's its ever been connected to and a setting of which connection type to allow this pc.
As soon as i formatted the pc, the phone recognized it as new and probably asked my if i want charging or data transfer. somehow i managed to chose data transfer!
Thanks a lot anyways and have a great day

File Transfer

I have Redmi S9 with broken screen. Is it possible to transfer my files to PC? That phone also has PIN lock screen.
If the USB debugging on your phone is opened, and your phone can be detected by the computer via USB cable, you can transfer files to PC easily. Usually, you can do that via Copy & Paste. Or you can also ask for help from Xiaomi data manager tool like Coolmuster Android Backup Manager, etc. Its free backup function can help you do that easily. It also support WiFi connect. You need to make sure your phone and the computer are in the same network. Hope this will be your help.
