That is because you have an unlocked bootloader. A stock ROM that you got via running an RUU won't boot up because of the unlocked bootloader. (that or you didn't flash boot.img) I would suggest running Android Revolution HD or tpbklake's stock ROM. Both can be found in the development section for the Incredible S.
Thanks or can i download one from hdev and install will it work ?

If you download the RUU from HTCDEV.com, you will need to relock your bootloader before you run the RUU.

I apologize if this is a repetitive post but I urgently need to know how to get back my first ROM ( unrooted, no cwm or anything ).
Details about my phone :
-Asian? lol I live in a country called Brunei, next to Malaysia.
-When I unboxed it, it was froyo and it had an update to gingerbread so I did it straight away
- gingerbread before rooting
And about unrooting it, do I just flash one ZIP file which removes superuser or something? Can someone link a guide or something? Thanks in advance!
Well, i think this is it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359555
@Nu11eR thanks! Do you know which RUU should I use if I'm from Asia tho?

No I don't know of any other mirrored site for this ROM. I can only share what has been shared via the posts on this forum.

What is the difference between the Asia_HK rom (assuming it is HongKong) and the Asia_WWE rom ?
I tried installing the Asia_HK rom and I couldn't get any OTA updates (from 2.3.5 to 2.3.7).
Also, I had to change the language from chinese to english. Basically, followed all the steps given in the tutorial, but it just didn't work .
my main aim of going back to stock was for the OTA updates. currently, am back to Virtuous Quattro RC3.

Help needed.
I have unlocked the bootloader via htcdev.com and flashed a recovery and flashed a custom rom.
Now When I tried to restore back to Stock rom(from the backup which i took before flashing new rom), It takes me back to recovery all the time after reboot.
I manually flashed boot.img from the back up folder too.
Still it takes me to recovery all the time. I mean, After restoring, It will just reboot and take me to recovery. Even logo "HTC Quietly Brilliant" wont show up.
My phone is S-ON.
I really need to get back to stock rom.
Please help me.

Are you manually flashing the boot.img file while recovery mode, or are you rebooting into FASTBOOT USB mode and flashing it?
When you restore a backup in recovery mode, the boot partition cannot be written to. You must reboot into FASTBOOT USB using the command:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
You must copy the boot.img file from you SD card to your PC to run the Fastboot command.

You should relock the bootloader first before you flash the RUU by using the computer.

Hi all
I have rooted and unlocked the bootloader but haven't taken the jump and stuck a ROM or kernel on as yet, as am actually quite happy with the stock ROM, and also rely on the headphones, amongst other things - which appear to be a problem on some of the ROMs.
If I do stick a custom ROM on, can I easily get back to the stock one, is there a stock ROM of that which I can flash via CWM ?
I understand that with CWM I (currently) have to instantly stick a ROM on, so presumably cant do a backup of the stock ROM at that point..before putting on FXP or some such
I presume I can use the sony update service, but would that wipe the root ...?
could someone enlighten me
many thanks

Take a backup of what you have now in recovery, and you can always restore.
Also there are plenty of stock .ftfs in the allin one thread in Q&A that can be flashed in flashtool
No.
if you flash cmw from the thread then yeas, but you have unlocke your bootloader, so just flash the advanced stock kernel and then you have recovery without having to reflash a rom...

HTC Pushed an update to my HTC One Dev Ed tonight..
1.29.1540.16
When it tries to flash the update it just goes into TWRP recovery. No other actions.
I then drilled down to the directory that it downloaded to /data/media/downloads and tried to flash with TWRP.. no dice.
Here is the update.. but honestly I don't know what it does.
any Idea on what is preventing the flash?

You must go back to stock recovery in order for the update to successfully flash on your device.
You don't need the update from HTC, just go and flash the latest revolution 10.2 rom, it is running 4.2.2 and it has some nice performance tweaks. And it isn't modified so it's running sense 5.

For some of us, going to a different ROM is not a viable choice, and frankly a solution to load a different ROM does not answer the original question.
Hi I have the same problem here.
When I try to install stock 4.2.2, the phone reboot & automatically enter TWRP & thus stock update was unable to run.

None of the HTC direct updates will work while TWRP is installed.
you will have to
Fastboot flash (stock recovery .img)
then the updated from HTC works with no problems. pst if you can't find the img

hello, you can't flash recovery with cwm. or i don't know how to do. you have to push it into your phone with sdk ,nothing complicated, just follow step by step tuto for flashing recovery with android sdk.
Enjoy
Hey, once you flash RUU you dont need to flash stock recovery since it already exists
Seeing a red triangle in stock recovery is very obvious as you cant get into stock recovery
Infact thats why we need custom recovery!!!
You getting my point??!!
So do nothing mor
You are perfectly stock after RUU
Get sON if you want to so that you make your phone as it was on its first day

There is no ROM installed on your deivce or you have flashed the wrong img.file..If im not mistaken u have flashed it over and s-on device was it dev unlocked? . If u can boot into recovery try to mount the sd card via the recovery and install a stock rom and flash the boot.img (extracted from the rom) via CMD
If your device says RELOCKED in bootloader just got to htcdev web and unlock the device again
thx for quick answer

i just installed the boot.img of the rom. not the rom. After that i tried flash data, dalvik... and did the restore but the phone is still blocked
i tried to install an other stock rom but all the rom i found from htc are CRC rom and i don't know how to install them (the is tar.gz file).

Ok
1. Post exactly what it says in the bootloader screen. (Take a picture or just type it all out)
2. Follow through the entire guide to the bottom. You will need S-OFF for some ROMs.
3. The stuff you find in the downloads section on htcdev.com is mostly kernel sources.
4. You need to flash the ENTIRE ROM through recovery. The boot.img just contains some kernel parts while the ROM contains the apps and the framework, bootanimation etc. (you didn't actually think an android system could be compressed down to about 1mb did you ._. )

What you downloaded from htcdev.com wasn't a ROM or an RUU. It was a kernel source...
And to find a flashable ROM, go to android development section for the HTC Incredible S here on XDA. Find a ROM, and click download link in the OP of the respective ROM page.
