I got these headphones Pioneer Steez (SE-MJ7211) and they work in EVERY SINGLE PHONE, every single everything with a headphone jack, except my phone. However EVERY other headphone I've tried works on my phone.
I work at a place where I have access to many mobile phones for multiple carriers and many computers and tablets with headphone jacks. The headphones work in every phone except my phone and the Droid DNA, Tried multiple HTC One's and Multiple Droid DNA's with the same result. It also doesn't work with the HTC 8x, however with the Rezound that has beats audio it works fine.
Anyone have any clues as to why and how to fix it?
No idea why but let me play devil's advocate here.
1. Could it be the amp that the HTC one has in it that the head phones might sense and because of that they shut down so they don't blow the speakers?
2. Could it be the physical 1/8" jack not quite in sync compared to the location of the HTC one's jack port? The connector not letting it go far enough in or the location (4 wire for stereo and mic or 3 wire just for stereo (no mic)) of the metal separators throwing it off? Maybe trying an extension cord???
Best of luck, hopefully you figure it out.

What are your thoughts. Seems like a good product. Be able to use some decent headphones for listening to those mp3z . . .
Anybody used one of these?
is the answer/mute button only for those 2 functions or is that module also acting as a microphone (don't think so)? looks good to me but i use the headset adaptor i bought from this internet site based in hong kong. check out:
http://pc-mobile.net/pxdaa.jpg (the website is http://pc-mobile.net)
it comes with a standard 2.5 mm jack for the xda. the wire is on a retractable mechanism to avoid tangling. at the other end is the stereo phone jack which serves as an answer/end button and as a microphone as well. there's a single headphone jack connected which uses a 3.5mm plug. when you want to listen to the toons using your 2-headphone set; you simply unplug the jack and insert any 3.5mm plug-based headset. in effect you can use any 3.5 headset as handsfree.
costs 26usd but services are 5-stars for me.
cheers
Anyone tried this adaptor from pc-moblie.net? The sound quality is good or bad?
i doubt that it could damage the quality so you can hear it unless you connect it to a stereo's lineIn and play it out using real speakers
those headsets are too limited imho to take much damage from a few connectors
However, all these things are not suitable for xdaII.
I bought one from pc-mobile and the quality is good. However, since the new xdaII got 2 buttons in its handsfree design, this product from pc-mobile is not fully compatible. You can hear from it but you can't pick up or end call from it as compared to xda1 you can.
I hope they can produce another product which is fully compatible with xda2. Otherwise, I may have to go for bluetooth but really worry about the battery.
Also, can I or is there anyone using the bluetooth handsfree for mp3 playing????? I doubt that very much.
I do really like the pc-mobile handsfree which is retractable and handy.
Any alternative in the market?? You got the adaptor but I think its only good for audio MP3 listening. If you attach another headsfree to the adaptor for business use (don't know whether we can...), you will have 2 buttons (one for the adaptor and one for the handsfree) which is quite funny !
Does somebody else have this problem and find a solution?
Do most people use bluetooth?
*Damn* !
Been creating a cable myself, tried it yesterdaynight late....
The damn thing didn't answer the phone when i pressed te button.
I cut the audio-out cord and trew the cable away, because i tought the mic didn't work....
Now i read this.... Guess the mic did work, but the answerbutton didn't.
Now i hope i can rewire the audio-out cabels again, so i haven't been soldering for nothing last night
Headphone adapter for HTC magic
Hello.
On the HTC magic, there isnt a 2.5 or a 3.5 headphone jack! there is only a mini USB jack. Does anyone know where i could get a mini USB jack adapter to turn it into a regular headphone jack?
Even if anybody knows what kind of mini USB jack comes on the HTC then that would be lots of help! because ive already purchased one that fit, but didnt work so it must have been a different type.
Thanks in advance!

There is one reason why I have never used my Kaiser as a music/media player - the lack of a headphone jack. I am now look at upgrading to a Rhodium, but again HTC fails to include the most basic of requirements. pfff
I know that I can get a headphone adaptor, or even use bluetooth, but the problem for me is that whenever the usb plug falls out, as it invariably does, or the bluetooth signal drops, I instantly upset everyone within 100m by blasting crappy tinny sounding music at them through the phone speaker. Of course, 3.5mm jacks don't have the same habit of just falling out.
Therefore, is there any way that I can set up the phone so that when music or media is playing (usually through Coreplayer) the phone speaker is disabled?
Thanks
Plug in headphones? Otherwise if your not using the speakerphone how would you hear anything?
I've used a 3.5mm to mini usb cable and adapter, they both worked fine. I liked the cable better since i worried less about it breaking in my pocket. Its not the exact same one i am using right now but this one is only a penny.
http://www.amazon.com/Stereo-Headset-Speaker-Adaptor-phones/dp/B0013URK04/ref=pd_cp_e_3
but therein lies the problem - because the headphone output is mini-usb, it is always at risk of falling out (far more so than a 3.5mm jack).
Yea life is tough that way. I've yet to have anything just fall out of my mini usb port myself.
I suppose you could write a script that detects if anything is plugged in to the usb port ala Audio Booster, and auto mute if nothing is detected. But i don't think i've seen an auto mute app or anything like that.
Here's a kind of work around. I found this doing a google search for Auto Mute for PPC. http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=277
You could fire it up set it for an hour or so and listen away w/out fear, in theory at least.
that's a great idea - I'll give it a go. Thanks for taking the time.
Hope it works for ya! I can't get to the site and test it myself. I'm at work
Looks like the link is broken, but the idea is worth spending some time with google for
Damn.
This one says WinMo 5 ver 1.1, but i would think WinMo 6 is backward compatible. What about this one?

Dongles. In-line adapters. Proprietary headset ports. If it’s an audio port on a mobile handset and it’s not 3.5mm, it’s junk. As we declared back in May, we’re done with all of it. Now HTC, sire of the T-Mobile G1, myTouch, and countless other smartphones plagued by non-3.5mm jacks, is done with it too.
If you’ve been keeping up with your Android handset news, you might already know that the HTC Hero will be the first HTC-made Android handset with a 3.5mm jack. As it turns out, it’s just the first of many; beginning with the Hero, HTC is moving away from requiring users to pump audio through their modified miniUSB port.
We’d heard this mentioned as a possibility at past press events. This was HTC’s response when we reached out for comment:
The vast majority of devices we launch after Hero will have a 3.5mm jack. Devices that we have already announced but that still come out after Hero will not necessarily be a part of this change.
So it sounds like we may still see a few handsets hit the shelves with worthless audio ports - but aural salvation is on the way. This is a hugely important move for HTC and, seeing as they’re the most fruitful supporter of the platform so far, for Android. People like using their own headphones, but hate carrying around 2 extra inches of an oh-so-easy-to-lose adapter cable. If you make using headphones a pain, the media playback functionality of the handset/platform tends to be abandoned. Long live the 3.5mm port!
I prefer extUSB.
It's smaller, allows for remote control for music and also can be used for tv out with sound.
3.5mm ruins the looks of the phone and is unnecessary... Just use a small adapter or HTC E100 which has remote music controls.
I also prefer the usb over the 3.5mm jack...been using it for over two years.
why do you prefer extUSB over the normal 3.5mm Jack ?
I think they will not only implement the standard 3.5mm Jack, but the one with 4 Contact Layers that also enables you to use a Remote.
did they say anywhere HTC was eliminating the USB port?
agreed about the 4 contact jack.
I don't think they will "eliminate" the USB Port in general since it's the easiest way to charge & sync our devices both at the same time.
Either they will go with the 4 Contact Jack or maybe a composite of USB & three Contact 3.5mm Jack... although the latter would take more time to develop/implement into the existing Software (TouchFLO3D & HTC Sense).
well i think the devices comes with less conectivity
IRDA, BT,wireless carrier services, WIFI, USB, EXT-USB, miniUSB, 3.5, 2.5, and all the variant for the audio jack.
and now the devices comes with BT Wifi and EXTUSB... what da?
hehehe if the device only has ext-usb without 3.5 how can you listen to music or videos with earphones HQ (neodimium magnets) by AIWA or SONY, Yamaha Bose or so much more!.... and cradled to the wall...????
I think:
With a Extended Adapter all in one! larger and ugly...
Its better to get separated 3.5 only for listen music and EXTUSB for hands-free wired, charge and sync.

This is interesting because I noticed that phone manufacturers have agreed to make a common standard charging port so that chargers can be used for many makes and models of phone. They have chosen Mini USB for this purpose.
This means that if the above stories about a 3.5 Jack for sound are also true, that phones will not be able to share the same port for sound and charging. i.e. all phones would require two separate ports. This may sound ok, but ports are relatively big and gobble up sizable hunks of space internally - not ideal when you need to maximise the use of space. Ports, whether USB or Jack Plug styles are crude "ironmongery" compared with other parts of the ciruitry and it s wasteful to have two, when one port (USB) can fulfil both functions. USB is capable of many more functions and connections that Jacks; although I do understand however the desire to have Jacks for audio for compatibility with a wide range of headsets.

The problem with having extUSB type of slots are because they increase the chances for accidental detachment of the plugs. Every device I ever used that required an adapter really sucked because the headphone always got disconnected easily.
Furthermore, the configuration is not practical for people who charge their phones while listening to music.
People don't use blue tooth for music and videos because of the battery issues and the occasional connection drop.
Next, having a splitter adapter is annoying because you have to carry it with you.
Furthermore they need to create lockable extUSB adapters in which the adapter will snap on the phone and never ever detach which makes the adapter a more practical and plausible idea.
Hell..... it's about time....
P.S. +1 to whoever gets the reference.
I hate making new threads but I can't seem to find an answer. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords.
I use my N1 in my car alot. It's my main source for my music and hand's free calling while driving. I use the aux jack on my stereo to the N1 for music.
When I get a call it would ring though the speakers and I would touch the slider to accept the call. The caller would hear me crystal clear and I would hear them though the speakers just fine.
Now when I get a call, they can't hear me. They say I sound like I'm far far away. I can hear them just fine. But I look like a madman in my car screaming and yelling just to be heard.
So what I have to do now, is answer the call, and touch speaker, which only plays the voice though the speaker phone. They hear me crystal clear but sound is no longer going to the car speakers.
Anybody have this problem or know what's causing it or even a push in the right direction?
I have this excact same problem.
I came from a milestone using a standard 3.5mm audio jack and calls went really well. But when i tried my nexus, i got the same response, "sounds liek your far away".
I tried a few AUX cables but they all seem to do the same thing. So my solution was a aux cable with a built in mic.
I ended up modding the headphones that came with my nexus to get this working. Removed the earbuds and soldered a 3.5mm jack.
Now when i talk using that cable with a built in mic, ppl hear me very clearly. So i've jsut been using that cable since. I'm sure you can buy a premade aux cable with a mic at any local mobile audio store. I saw one at a BestBuy mobile here.
Hope this helps.
but the issue is that at one point it DID work normal with his nexus. i think what is going on here is the phone originally read the aux input as just standard audio output. but now its reading it differently somehow, i just dont know why. its almost like the difference when a phone thinks you have headset connected vs audio out connected with no mic support. no idea on a solution though...

I was thinking on buying the Belkin one with the mic right at the aux jack.
Hope this helps.

Exactly, it DID work. I can't pin point when it happened for me. I was thinking maybe it was when I went from Eclair to Froyo?
I'm almost positive that using the phone over Aux out broken with the update to Froyo. Has anyone tried this yet with Gingerbread on the N1 or with an NS? I'm hoping they fixed this, it's a really, really frustrating problem.
My fear is that everyone at Google got free car docks so they won't ever fix it because it's never a problem for them.
I also have the exact same problem. Thought it never worked for me, I only recently sets up my car mount with aux. Anybody found a solution?
My wife has a Lumia 920. She's tried 2 different headphones and each has the same problem. If the jack is pushed all the way into the 920's port, the headphones do not connect properly. There is no audio in the headphones. Pulling the jack out of the port ever so slightly makes the connection and the audio is heard.
We're going to try a third set of headphones on her 920 and go to an AT&T store to try another 920 but I'm beginning to think this is a problem with this particular unit. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

Only had the issue with the original headphones, not a different brand/kind. Called Nokia and they told me to go to the place I bought it at ..

we have two 920's and I tried three different sets of headphones (over ear, and in ear). There is no problem with connection to my Sennheiser and when I plug it into the phone it makes a noticeable click at the last stage of insertion. However, it seems not as tight with my Logitech and I can see that some may have problems. When I press the connector into the jack it disconnects sound, but as soon as I let go it's fine.
if I had the same problem you wife is experiencing I would probably return it.
edit:
I noticed that it is rather tough to push it all the way in. The last stage only snaps in with some more force. If you see any metal from the connector then it is not all the way in. In this state it's rather erratic depending on how far it's in.
