I would constantly have issues with a disconnect from my network. If I lost a signal, I would have to continuously reboot to get back on. With the 4.3 upgrade, these issues are gone.
Anyone else experience this or am I the only one?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
4.3 made those issues appear. Didnt have those issues in 4.2.2
On 4.3 my data is 3 to 7 times faster, but my wifi speed has been cut in half. Reception or signal cutouts have never been a problem for me on either version.
Reception for 3G was great on 4.2 but now lousy with 4.3.
I have to switch to using 2G only at home now to get any phone signal.
I may go back to 4.2 unless there is a way to put the baseband/radio version for 4.2 into 4.3?

Yes, you can flash older baseband on 4.3. I am using stock 4.3 with .48 baseband. You can get them here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227
Okay have flashed back to the .48 baseband radio on 4.3 so will see what happens. Had one drop out but seems a little more stable than before.

thanks for the link. i have collected the thread for later use.
On 4.2.2 I had problems with my home wifi (but nowhere else, so I blame my config) and the 4.3 update fixed them.

Hello, I recently bought an unlocked and rooted galaxy s i9000 from someone. Its running Dark Knight 5.5 and Devil Kernal. I have little to no network signal, wifi works great though. It has a rogers sim card in it that works fine in other phones. I have never had a connection issue and no matter where I go with this phone I have extremely bad service ! If anyone has some ideas that would be appreciated.
Thanks
Could I just flash another modem too it , one that might give it better signal?

What baseband version are you on?
System Settings - About phone - Baseband version.
I am having signal issues also.
I get maybe 2 bars then none then none sometimes.
I am running Team ISGS ICS4.0.4
This is really unreliable now.
My phone started doing it on Rel 4.2.
I used the KG3 modem and I now get FULL bars.
Here is a list of modems:

Sorry dude, i clicked the thank-you button by mistake. Have a freebie on me.
JW4 doesn't work in Canada. Here we need 850 & 1900, therefore KG3.
Flash the kernel again
I guess its due to the kernel.Dlash the rom.See to that you clear the Dalvik Cache too:angel::angel:
Hi guys,
I just want to ask if it is possible to flash any 4.2.2 Rom over a 4.3 one without changing the Bootloader or Modem (as far as I know kernel there are no other things updated in 4.3 except some features in stock Rom and kernel). I'm sorry if there is a thread like this one out there but I couldn't find it on my phone app
Thanks in advance for your time and help

It's because I like to have all the possibilities to personalise nz phone, and Roms like MIUI won't get 4.3 support in the next time it's just my opinion

4.3's stock kernel sucks hard. I've experienced "unexpectedly closed" errors with certain apps and the device sometimes reboots itself without apparent reason. Had to flash the latest franco's nightly kernel in order to get this faulty release somewhat stable.
Nice GoinGoogle.

It is possible with custom recovery, not possible with fastboot without updating the bootloader. You may use any modem. You need 4.3 kernel.
EDIT: my bad, it was other way around. Yes, it is possible.
4.3 stinks like hot garbage. I'm not upgrading, and I'm going to downgrade my new N7 to 4.2.2 if possible. 4.3 is like windows ME.
I still have 4.2.2 on my N4 and have only tried 4.3 on my Kindle Fire. From my experience I have little interest in upgrading my N4 for the time being, since 4.3.x will likely fix all the JSS and JWR issues.

I think your problem is caused by your usage pattern / apps which are not updated for 4.3, combined with unstable root. Don't blame Google unless you experience the same behaviour on unrooted stock.

Wrong.
I experienced those crashes while on stock, even with google applications. that's a faulty release, not faulty device nor usage. for god sake, even "settings" menu has "unexpectedly closed" on me once.

I have had totally different experience with 4.2.2. To be honest I didn't like it at all. I didn't find it as "rock solid" as many other users here. (I came from Galaxy Nexus. Android 4.2 compared to really rock solid jzo54k 4.1.2 was imo buggy as hell. It didn't bring any performance boost but rather did the opposite: BT, WIFI issues, mem leak etc.) Plus I found this low touch sensitivity extremaly irritating. I use rooted stock 4.3 and so far I haven't noticed any bigger issues. Even if I do I really don't see a point to go back to still buggy 4.2.2. I think my device performs much better on 4.3. Maybe it's just a placebo effect, but it feels snappier and smoother. Just my subjective opinion.
Of course I do understand people that miss their favorite custom roms, whose 4.3-versions are still unavailable.
4.2.2 had and has clearly wifi/bt issues (major data stalls, difficulties in re-enabling bt after 20-30 hours of uptime).
These issues were solved. however, I'd expect 4.3 to be as stable as it can be, especially when it took more than 5 months for its release. Unfortunately, that's not the case. not even close, which is rather embarrassing.
I really was expecting for iOS-like smoothness and stability by now.

Maybe that's been your experience but my experience has been the exact opposite. It's made my N4 even more of a pleasure to use. It's smoother, snappier, and battery life is amazing. Mind you, I've never really had any problems with 4.2.2 except maybe GPS locking problems, which 4.3 solved. The only real problem with 4.3 is this whole JWR/JSS nonsense.

Not sure what's going on your end but my phone has been rock solid with no FCs at all since upgrading to 4.3 using the factory image (I never go the OTA route)
In case you're both running a stock 4.3 (unrooted), you're more than welcomed to run "angry gran run - running game" by ace viral and watch it boldly & proudly crash. If not on beginning, after few minutes. Just only one example out of many.

Not sure if this is the right place but here goes.
I am on AOKP milestone 1 might update to milestone 2 soon. But what do I have to keep in mind when making the jump to 4.3? Will I be able to downgrade later without problems? I dont understand the modems and bootloader stuff. Plus if I flash 4.3 I will lose root, so how do I flash 4.3 without loosing root? do I root the phone again after flashing? or is there a shortcut?

You can flash a 4.3 rom in recovery, but its recommended to flash radio and bootloader in recovery.

Android 4.3 ROMs require radio version .84 (or a hybrid 27/84 or 33/84 radio) and bootloader version makoz20i. As Thibaultvw points out radio version .84 and bootloader version makoz20i are both available as flashable zip files and should both be installed before installing a 4.3 based ROM. In addition, Android 4.3 requires SuperSU version 1.51 for working root privileges.
After upgrading the radio and bootloader for Android 4.3, you can restore or install an Android 4.2.2 ROM without changing the bootloader or radio.

Give it a hard go bud lemme know how it works!
I have an AT&T Version HTC One, I just flashed a few different 4.4 ROMs (Revolution HD, One Droid, Beanstalk, etc) and I'm having the same frustrating issue- my WiFi speeds are horrible!!! I can't seem to do more than one thing at a time because the WiFi takes forever to load anything. It seems to be only an issue with the download speed topping out at 3Mbps (every other device gets around 45Mbps) but the upload speeds are still fine on my phone.
Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated! Is there a Wifi radio I should flash? I'm curently on Android Revolution HD 4.4 with Sense 5.5
Happy Holidays!

all the KitKat roms are based off the developer edition release, and if your like me all the developer edition files do not get along with my AT&T One. I have always had horrible WiFi and Data service on all developer edition versions. I went back to InsertCoin 6.0.5 (3.62.401.1 - 4.3 base) until AT&T releases their KitKat Update.

I can't stand this anymore! Anyone else running a Kit Kat ROM with Wifi speed issues? I've gone through countless ROMs now and I still have the same issue.

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 and ever since going to 4.3 my signal strength for mobile is weak, very weak.
I have re booted phone, taken battery out, tried different modems but all with no luck.
Has anyone else had this issue and successfully fixed it?
Cheers
Got the same issue, as I flashed the new Alliance Rom on my S3 LTE. Most time I had just one of five network points.
So I did another Full Wipe, and used the Boeffla Kernel with stock modem.
Got slight better results, but there are always lil interferences while talking. Probably its the bad network by german T-Mobile.
Regards

I am in Hong Kong with the following
JB 4.3 XXUEML8 rxtreme JB 4.3-V2.0
Hong kong modem ZHUCMK1
Stock kernel of XXUEML8
My house is at 35/F of a building, my phone will have signal as stated below:
LTE/WCDMA/GSM signal with 2-3 out of 4 bar
WCDMA/GSM signal normally full 4 bar
Hey everyone I am back developing again haha Noticed this myself with 4.3 so I have looked into it and noticed something very different with 4.3GSM RIL class files. They are are all reverted to the standard GSM ril type files, where as on all previous generations have used QMI based RIL.
I have created a patch that I am about to test and if I have any luck I will upload it here for you guys to try out for your selves. It should work for other countries as well so long as you have noticed a difference in the RIL types between 4.3 and 4.2 or earlier? If not then I would suggest leave things as they are and flash a new modem.
I am on Optus and I am comparing the first 4.3 release to a stock Optus Android XXALI5-OPS, does anyone know what the version number is called from the OTA update for Optus?

I have the same problem. My wife has an I9305 and I have an I9300, both with 4.3, my signal is way better and usually get H+ internet and she just gets Edge.
Any progress on the fix? I would love to have the patch, or even just the information on which files to change and what to change.
Thanks
Recently got one of these phones and I love it, it really stood the test of time and I want to keep it for a while. But, the one I have is running android 4.4 kitkat. I got a custom kitkat rom installed, omni 4.4, and I can't install anything more recent. If I try to flash anything newer than android 5.0 it'll work just fine, but, I'll have no cellular connection. My guess is it's a radio issue. How can I fix this? I have a C6906. It's a Canadian phone, but I'm using it in the US on ATT.
