Returning to stock

Hi, I am running ARHD 10.3 with the new updated firmware, should I wish to go back to stock to take the official 4.2.2 update when it arrives (made a backup using twrp before I flashed twrp recovery) do I just restore my stock backup and do I have to relock my bootloader?

I believe you'd need both a stock recovery as well as a locked bootloader. Flashing an RUU would be an easy route, or restoring the Nandroid Backup, flashing stock recovery and locking bootloader. I am not so sure you actually need a locked bootloader, but do it just to be safe.

Thanks I have stock recovery in my backup

Well then all you need is to relock the bootloader and unlock it after receiving the OTA update. Again, I am not sure if you actually need to do that, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Unroot Hboot 1.54 S-on

Hi,
My camera had problems focusing so I tried flashing the GPE ROM in hope of it would fix my camera - no luck. Now I need to get it back for repair so I need to get it back to complete stock.
Got my bootloader relocked, and i'm back on the 4.2.2 stock sense 5 ROM since I did a nandroid backup before flashing the GPE ROM. The only problem is now that i'm rooted and have hboot 1.54 with S-on so I cannot run any RUU's.
Is it possible to unroot it and get the stock recovery ?
My version is:
Baseband 4A.17.3250.14
Version 2.24.401.1

Flash the Mike1986's stock rom, and the stock recovery, after relock your bootloader and you will be stock

If you flashed the stock ROM you're not rooted.
The problem is probably that you're relocked, with no way of becoming locked.
The best you can do is HTCDev unlock and install stock recovery, then relock again and hope that's close enough.
Or wait for S-OFF on 1.54 or, if you really are "locked" vs "relocked", find or wait for the 2.24.401 RUU.

you are right, just checked with root checker and I am not rooted. But how do I know which recovery I am running? As of right now nothing happens when I try to enter the recovery in bootloader. I guess it is becaused I just relocked the bootloader?

Not sure how to check which recovery. Normally a nandroid has the custom recovery, unless you fastboot boot recovery.img with it stock (which you should, but is usually left out of the guides).
However, somewhere it will say "tampered" (hboot?) if you have unsigned software installed. If it doesn't say tampered, you have stock stuff.

It says tampered and as far as I can understand from other threads, it will keep saying that no matter what I do.
But I didnt fastboot any recovery image, just restored the nandroid backup in my custom recovery.
So I guess I have to unlock the bootloader and flash the stock recovery.

I'm pretty sure tampered goes away when all the partitions have signed software, but I'm open to correction. Where does it say that?
Nah, the fastboot boot is the first step after unlocking, before you flash custom recovery, you should boot it and then nandroid and then flash custom recovery and ROM or root. That way your nandroid is actual stock.
Anyway yeah, unlock, flash stock, relock (unless you're "locked" vs "relocked") should be fine.

You can only remove the tampered flag when you are S-Off, obviously not an option at the moment on Hboot 1.54 .. Same goes for changing the relocked back to locked, S-Off needed. As Guich said, check mike1986's threads as he has the stock recovery image to install using fastboot.
When you did your Nandroid backup, did you check to backup recovery? if not you will need to install it again using the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"

[Q] stock with out Suitable RUU

i just finished S-ON and locking back my device because i need to my warranty back.
and i discovered there isn't RUU that suits my phone.
now i am on bootloader with no room and i want to restore a original room or any other RUU that won't leave any other cellular compeny sign
i tried:
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4
and
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed
and they aren't working .
what do you think i can do?

You should've got everything back BEFORE going back to S-ON, as there is no RUU you'll have to unlock the bootloader using HTCDev and then flash a CWM backup

I did all from a guid "How to Unroot the HTC One to Complete Stock [S-on] [Locked]"
and it says i need to lock ,s-on and then install the RUU.
i do have a backup i did before i rooted my phone for the first time with twrp recovery
how can i use it?

If you're S-ON and have HBOOT 1.54 there is NO choice but to unlock, flash CWM and restore a backup. You cab't do anything else

apparently i dont have any CWM backup i somehow can't flash it.

my rom is: Viperone 3.1 rc2
and i want to go back to stock rom to get my hboot update to 1.55
i download Guru Reset M7 2.24.401.8 and my cid is: htc_001
what should i do now? flash direct from recovery? or flash the boot.img first?

I googled it, it looks like a flashable rom via Recovery, but i will look into it after the download ended...
Because i never heard of it...
Try flashing it direct via recovery, the homepage says:
I have started to construct some stock ROM zip files that can be flashed in recovery (CWM/TWRP) to install the HTC One stock ROM for many different versions of the phone. You can also choose to install the stock Radio and also the stock Recovery. The part about the stock recovery is important, because if you want to get OTA updates you will need the stock recovery.
Remember in order to be able to flash a recovery (stock or otherwise) your bootloader needs to be unlocked.So if you want to flash the stock recovery during the install you will need to make sure to have a unlocked bootloader.

Flash Guru Reset using recovery (like any custom ROM). If you then want to receive & install OTA, you have to select Stock Recovery in the installer (note: this may wipe your internal storage!), then you should be able to receive and install the OTA.
Just curious, but why don't you get S-Off using rumrunner, then you can flash firmware (includes hboot) without having to use reset to stock.

for OTA you need stock rom and stock recovery (ie Guru Reset, and select stock recovery)
but for rumrunner, no need for stock recovery, just a matching ROM and firmware (ie Guru Reset 2.24.401.1 RUM you are using) and check bootloader (or "fastboot getvar all") to confirm firmware is 2.24.401.1) then you can use rumrunner just fine.

right now i am using VIPERONE 3.1 RC2 but my bootloader showing that my firmware is 2.24.401.1
whice firmware should i download to do s-off with rumrunner?

you're good :good:
1- make a nandroid of your current setup, so you can restore later.
2- flash Guru Reset 2.24.401.1
------ select WIPE
------ unselect stock recovery (otherwise there's a high probability internal storage will be fully wiped)
------ radio also not needed
3- use http://rumrunner.us/ to get s-off using the 2.24.401.1 package
4- restore your nandroid
5- flash latest firmware package (includes hboot), from here (in the firmware section): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506
(remember to follow the instruction, in particular you have to "fastboot flash zip <firmwarename>.zip TWICE!!)
NB: I would personally back up everything to my PC first (including the nandroid), just in case

Hey everyone,
I have looked everywhere but havent found a way to return to stock. I simply want to return to stock so that i can update my firmware. My details are as follows:
S-ON
Hboot: 1.56
OS-4.19.401.11
my bootloader is unlocked, obviously
I just need someone to direct me in the correct path.
Ive searched a lot but havent gotten far,please, I appreciate any help i can get from.

You can follow nkk71's guide in my signature.
If you don't want to go completely back to stock just to get OTA you can flash this Guru Reset 4.19.401.11 in TWRP. In Aroma just select stock recovery and radio, when you reboot you will have stock recovery, stock rom. To get the OTA updates, you will have to relock your bootloader. You can use this command in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:

Thank you so much! i searched a lot for my versions reset tool. Just one last question. When i update my firmware and OS now and make a nandroid backup, will that nandroid help me revert back to stock after i have rooted my phone again?

Yes, it will make it a little easier. You will need to make the nandroid backup the first thing when you boot into recovery the first time before you root the phone. Save it to your computer for future use. If you are able to get the stock recovery from the firmware you can use it with your nandroid backup to get you close to stock. You would flash the stock recovery with the same commands as you flashed the custom recovery.
