Recently I noticed that my phone is losing charge while charging, yes im using it but I still think I should gain charge and not be losing it. Is anybody else have this problem?
I get this problem the most when using MHL adaptor, I can be watching a film, from the sd card, and lose almost 60-70% of battery (screen brightness at lowest, and stock charger) is there a way to turn the screen off and use hdmi that I have missed that can help?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Probably the MHL adaptor only accepts 500mAh input. The USB standard, instead of the rated 1500mAh the original charger provides.

Try that to turn off the screen. Needs root.
Thanks, I'll give that a go

If you use non sony cable, stock charger will charge with only 500mah.
Use proper charger and usb cable.
I have afew micro usb cables and, every one of them have different charging current. Find the best cable and charger with nova battery monitor application from market.

Thanks but it isn't compatible with my device

Wrong
Daniel ! You need to ensure your adapter isn't charging on SSM3 mode. This was the case with me, I disabled it and it fixed the problem.
Are you the guy that is **** at basketball ? thought so ...
What do you mean SSM3? Are do I know you?? Haha

losing charge can happen on a proper charger too depending on the use of the device - obviously, aside from trying to get the battery hungry screen turned off you can also turn all radios off that isn't used. kill very battery hungry tasks (normally killing tasks for battery purposes is no good idea, but if one have gone crazy, go ahead and kill it ) you can also try to lower the cpu's max frequency, but of course not so low that the movie can't get played.. hope this helped a bit

Dear XDA tribe,
My dad recently handled me his Samsung Galaxy Tab P-1000.
It has been on my desk for a long time without turning it on, like it hasn't been used for over than 5 months.
Now I got an adapter and I wanted to charge it and use it.
I plugged in the charger and the battery appeared and it was charging a bit green. I gave it an hour then tried to power up the tab, it did not work.
Now when I put it in the charger it gives me the following, and it keeps appearing and disappearing. On and on.
I would really like your help, thanks in advance.
What is that white cable?
Do you have the original cable and charger?

Thanks for the fast reply, it feels good to have someone helping.
Don't mind the white cable, they're just headphones.
I have attached a pic of my cable charger.
Should be right charger, doesn't look like mine but mine is USA plug.
The symptom you describe, it is as if the connection isn't good.
Try plug it snugly and leave it for 5-8hr and see how it goes.
Edit: is the charger rated 2A?

It used to charge with it, like I could see the battery getting more greener and all. But it doesn't do that now.
I tried getting it into the download mode, ODIN finds it, and looses it in 2 seconds.
The charger says as follows;
OUTPUT: 5.0V = 1.0A
Well, his charger looks different as he is from Riyadh. Priyana's method should work
But mine is 2A. I think this charger is a bit underrated. Should be ok still. But charge slower. Don't go flashing until it is full.

Well, I don't really think it is charging.
I left it for an hour now, it's still doing the same thing.
Would it be a good idea to open it apart so I can remove the battery and let it work straight on the electric plug?
Hhmm..
I think the circuit doesn't work that way.
But you can charge using a PC USB port too albeit slow.
I still think you don't have the right wall charger.
Sure it isn't mixed up with some other Samsung device?
Edit: attached picture of my charger, with the removable bit to change the pin plug, I suspect a UK plug is available.

So you still think I should get another charger. Although this one used to charge it.
So you don't recommend opening the device?

Yes, just keep charging. You know that car charger may work better? Those that goes to cigarette lighter.
Car batt has higher amp and the DC charging is more pure than AC to DC.
I don't recommend opening and I don't know if it works.
In my HTC magic, if I take out the battery, the charger won't power up the phone.
The point is, just keep charging if you can, on PC, USB 2/3 or car.

Alright, I fixed it. Here's what happened;
I thought that since the connection seems to be interrupted, I thought that it was time to change the battery since so much time has passed on and the device didn't work.
So I got a new battery, installed it and WA LA !
THE GALAXY IS BACK TO LIFE AGAIN!
Thanks for your help everybody!
Thank you Priyana
hey folks noob here sorry to say, first off glad i stumbled across this very informative site. will be seeing/ learning more here thats for sure.
i dont know if this a common problem or rooted to my own phone but, when on charge if you use the phone whilst charging the phone, it will not charge (id imagine charging the same level as whats being sucked from the battery) but i was always of the understanding when phones are on charge they don't really use the battery, surley this is a bug? The phone itself is amazing coming from an iphone 4. cant really say a bad word against it otherwise, loving xperia and my first android otherwise.
on a side note is 0.1m/ps the going rate for 3g or H as stated on this phone? im pretty sure i got 1meg with my iphone.
cheers for any input lads.
Anyone of you 39 thats viewed not charged your phone yet?
Yes that's normal to loose battery percentage using the phone while charging especially if you charge it by usb port.
How much your charger output in mA?
Mine is 1500mA

hey mate thanks for the reply, no thats with wall socket charging not via the usb port on comp etc. ill see if i can fine out the charger output. :good:
the Sony charger just can't provide enough power to hold up the thirsty quad core CPU when it fully loaded like playing games. My experience yesterday when it was low on battery ~5% and plugged in with the bundled charger, the battery level kept dropping while I was playing candy crush and eventually it shut off itself. I tried another charger from Note 2 and it holds up better and the output current is 2A for that charger.
Use a tablet charger ora note charger as said

If you use bigger charger and play games than the phone will heat up and will explode.

Paranoia?
Not too sure what games might cause that, but I charge using the Nexus 7 2A charger AND do compute intensive tasks (games, benchmarks, etc) at the same time - got a wee bit warm but if it blows up i'll definitely be the first to know.

How did you install candy crush? showing up on store as incompatible on my Xperia Z
I don't have the iriginal charger, so I use a 1amper charger I used on my Sensation. The charger of the One seems to be the same, so why does my phone charge so slow? For the first time today I played a game and the battery discharges while the charger us plugged in. Maybe the input is limited, cause the phone knows it's not the original charger? Please help

I put my phone on the charger last night at 1%, went to sleep. Woke up this morning and it was off. Turned it on while it was still on the charger and it was at 6% Notice on the far right of the screenshot it got fully charged then died on charger.

Also sometimes my phone likes to turn off by itself. Have to hold down volume down+power then let go of volume for it to come on.

Check for corrosion and gunk in your charging port and connector. If none found try a different charger. The picture you submitted shows a quite odd report. Also could try wiping battery stats... but I think you might need an unlocked phone for that.

I have a similar problem. It just started recently. I had 19% and then I dropped to 1%. I charged it and had to reboot my phone for something when it was 14% and when it turned back on, it was at 3%.

Has anyone tried another charger that has higher amp output, I use iPhone @ 1.5 amp charger and works great, also AHD phones need minimum .750 amp chager.
Has anyone tried also to re-calibrate battery?

I have. I had this issue just once, but after that, my battery life its been worse. I feel like I have a 20% of unused battery or something. I have calibrated it multiple times with no luck.

I am hoping that someone out there can help me. My sgs i9000 does not charge when using the mains charger. It charges when plugged into a laptop is in the USB cable okay though. I have bought, both a new battery and a new charger, but the problem persists. Has anyone had or heard of this problem? Better still, does anyone have a solution?
I thank you all in advance.

Thanked you by accident when I went to quote you there
It probably isn't his USB port on the phone if it's charging fine from a laptop with USB cable.
I'd be checking that the charger definitely works by charging another device with it, if you have one. The voltage pins on the phones socket are the same whether you're charging with a charger or plugging into a computers USB, so if one way wasn't working then nothing should be working.

The charger charges my wifes phone with no problems. The battery charges in her phone using the mains charger too, so not a battery related problem either.

Could just be the plug on the charger possibly, I've had that happen before. There are two little sprung prongs on one side of it. I've had well used chargers before that I've had to get a pair of pliers and pull them out a little..
The fact that it works on your wife's phone doesn't mean it can't be the plug on your charger. Could just be that your USB port is a tiny bit more worn than hers. Doesn't mean that your port is totally screwed.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have tried three different chargers and none of them charge my phone. I'm very interested in your comment about the USB port being slightly more worn.
I am constantly flashing different Roms etc across using ums/ mtp so that does make sense. Also the USB cable that I use to charge my laptop is an old Nokia cable and the USB connector (phone end) is a little tighter.
Thanks.

Hi @sbnaul Unfortunately I haven't had much progress at all. My device connects with Odin & PC etc with no problem, it is just the charging issue using the mains charger. I have discovered that if I push in and hold the usb connector of the mains charger it will charge. Obviously though, none of us have the time to sit there and hold the phone for its charging process. If I have any further progress I will post here. Good Luck with your own problem, that must be a headache.
