I just did the update to 2.2 on my bone stock t-mobile N1. Worked perfectly.
Next I went on the app market and downloaded flash 10.1.
Decided to try out new flash capabilities on the internet.
Except every flash video or game i tried on multiple websites failed to load. I either got the same old little blue flash box or a message saying I need flash player.
Am i doing something wrong?
Oh and on top of the above flash let down my swype keyboard no longer works...

Try to locate the app on your phone
Try to licate its shared library .so
Try adb logcat

Ok think I solved both my own problems. Uninstalled swype and reinstalled and it works fine now.
As for my flash problem.
I had ADW launcher running as my default launcher. I decided to take off the default to try the stock 2.2 launcher. Tried flash again and suddenly all flash was working fine. Reset ADW launcher as default launcher and flash still working properly.
Not sure how launcher default was preventing flash from kicking in, but temporarily switching back too stock launcher woke my flash player up.

Indeed.. i find this strange.
But good that you solved your problems.
Maybe report to anderweb?

Does anyone know how I can get the apks for a couple apps that I cannot get in the market since I've updated to Froyo? I tried app brain and fast web installer, but for some reason, when I try it, it opens in the market. I've got the app installer, of course, but I don't know how to get the apks and my phone is not rooted (I'm afraid to bite the bullet).
I need the apk for
the Square app - squareup.com
Pure Calendar Widget - I have paid for it
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You have to edit the fingerprint in build.prop to pretend you are still on Eclair JH7, for which you have to be rooted. Bite the bullet man.
I'm so nervous about it. I rooted my old G1 without a problem, but this phone was a lot more expensive. Have you rooted yours? Was it pretty easy?
There is a One Click out there. Super easy and painless! I have done it several times without issue Root with reckless abandon!
Running Cog v2.2 beta 6 these work, maybe they will for you?

Easy as pie. On 2.1 it's one click. If you are on 2.2, it's slightly more involved, but if you were able to flash Froyo successfully, you can root it in your sleep.
appbrain
theres an apbrain app that allows you to push installs from market via webbrowser but Im still on eclair so......... but it works great you just enable it and browse the market from appbrain website, even from your phones browser pushed angry birds on today
This has been resolved in multiple forums
for everyone with this problem all you need is root explorer or something else that lets you view and edit the build.prop file. you need to replace the part that starts with ro.build.fingerprint to this:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys
Good luck.
You're willing to install unofficial leaked firmwares (FroYo) but not root?
What?

That was so easy, thank you for your help.
So I've used root explorer and found the build.prop, but I can't do anything with it since it is a read only file (can't edit, rename, move, etc)...any ideas?
Did you actually look and tap the button on the top of root explorer as soon as you open it that says "Mount system as R/W" or something along those lines?
Long press on the file, that will open up a bunch of options.. Scroll down to open with text editor. Edit and save. The root explorer will automatically create a back up of the original

I'm using Universal Androot, Ti Back Up Pro, Root Explorer, SetCPU, Ad Free Android for Root, Launcher Pro Plus, QuickBoot(not sure if this works with the phone yet) and I used Uninstaller for Root to erase all the bloatware and BS. Did a great job too, didn't have to track down all the files individually. Anyway I wanted a place for everyone, especially noobs like me to have a place to come and get advice about things over our heads. Oh yeah and I have a custom startup sound thanks to the Boot Screen thread. Working on getting all the images to replace the Cricket screen now. This is my first android, and WILL NOT be my last.
Awesomeness!
I had attempted a root on my Zio when it was stuck on 1.6 but my prayers were answered with this weeks update! So, thanks for this thread man. I'm already loving 2.2 and I'm about to try your root process and see how it goes. I'm so happy I can finally use this thing! I actually parted ways with my iPhone today. I'm just going to invest in a bigger sd card.
Anywho, I'm still hoping for some custom Zio ROMS in the future.
I'll let ya know how the root turns out.

Yeah I have an 8GB and it's not going to be enough soon, especially when ROMS start coming out, that is if we ever get clockworkmod support. Until then rooting and using custom launchers is about as good as it gets. Tons and tons of reading helps. The more the merrier.
just installed a custom boot screen over the Cricket one. With a custom boot sound. Got the boot screen from fate43 over in the Boot Screen thread. Good work and much thanks. made the boot sound with a music file converter I DLed from Google here on the comp. Freakin kid in a candy store I tell ya........
Done!
So I ended up using Universal Androot to root and Super Manager to get rid of the bloatware. So far so good.
I've got the stock 1G sd card now and I never wanted to bother upgrading since I had 32G on my iPhone. I don't miss that thing at all now. I'm finally freeeeeee!!!
Now for boot screens and beyond.
This is far more rewarding that jailbreaking any ....other....devices.
Which version of Universal Androot did you use?
1.6.5.2 beta I do believe were the numbers. I go to look to be sure and it's just gone from my phone. So look around, just type it in to the search bar or google it. I'm almost certain of the numbers though.
hmmm thats the only one ive been finding id post a link but it wont let me because im so noob on this forum. Im new to android so i'm hesitant to root it until I know I can return to stock. Any recommendations for being prepared to do this? would I need to rip the current stock rom?

rooting your phone does not alter the "stock" rom in the way you're thinking - once you root, you can never go back - this is not true. All rooting does is give you super user access, so you _can_ use apps that require root access (like widgets for rebooting, root file explorer, setcpu, task killers, etc...), as well as other benefits.
Universal androot makes it way too easy to root/unroot your phone (one clickety to root, one clackety to unroot).
Once you get a little more familiar with android, you'll be able to really see the benefits of having root.
Thanks for the info

when using 1.6 androot and root explorer worked perfectly now with 2.2 when i goto root root works fine (im taking it does as it said woot your phone is rooted but then goto bring up root explorer it tells me to force close it. i restart my phone and i dont root it root explorer works fine leave root explorer running then root my phone then go back to root explorer and refresh it just sits there at a black screen can any one help me fix this so i can root my phone again as i had to get a replacement phone and lost my boot up scrren i made.
Sounds to me like you flubbed up somewhere. Unroot, factory reset. Reinstall. Make sure you're still rooted(should be). I had same problems. Only factory reset helped. Make sure you back up first!!!!

b4 you reset the phone and go through that whole process, try wiping the data cache of all of your apps that use root. Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Apps>Root Explorer>Clear Data
I probably needed that. Taken care of now and forever more. Thanks fate

Did what you said fate and it still wants to fc even with the new version of root explorer i even did a hard reset like i just took it out of the box with 2.2 on it and still the same and the only 2 programs i installed was root explorer v2.14.1 and androot v1.6.2 beta 5 and im doing the soft root btw but i doubt that would make a differnce. I do know that when i soft root and have wifi enabled my wifi meter on the task bar will disappear and when i goto settings to turn it back on under wifi it says error in small letters the only way to get wifi back is to reboot the phone. Fixing pcs and windows is alot easyer then phones lol.
I tryed to use another program that you need to have root access the program is root uninstaller and it fails to install while the phone is rooted restarted the phone that root uninstaller installed fine and did a soft root with androot the program will come up but wont let me uninstall anything but yet androot is saying woot your device is rooted. I'm starting to think universal androot dont work right no more on android 2.2 as it worked perfectly on android 1.6 and all my apps worked perfectly to root now i can't root at all any other way to root other then androot?

Ok, I finally got myself into a corner that I can not find an easy way out of.
I wanted to try the 5 slot TW launcher available through SGS tools.
After installing it, it had no "phone" icon so I could not figure out a way to get to the dialer. So I went to the location were SGS Tools made a backup and clicked the .APK - it "installation failed" so I rebooted. Upon reboot all I get a a twlauncher force close loop.
is this recoverable, or am I flashing?
Thanks
delete the twlauncher.apk in system/apps.
Likely flashing, maybe try a factory reset in recovery, or if you can mount sd in recovery maybe push another launcher apk and boot.
But once again I think you are flashing
CM7
Try taking the tw launcher apk out of whatever rom you have first and copy it over to see if it fixes the issue first. If not, probably need to reflash.
Ok, let me make sure I got this:
Connect phone to PC
Use Droid Explorer to browse to system/apps
delete twlauncher.apk
reboot phone
Is that right?
I just need to make it through tomorrow with a usable phone!
Wanted to add, current set up is AT&T 2.2 ROM with SuperCurio's KB1+Voodoo kernel
Anyone have a link to a stock twlauncher.apk

I'm pretty sure he does. He said he downloaded twlauncher from sgstools. The other launch will automatically become the default.
Better check if you have 2 launchers in the folder. I think the one you downloaded from sgstools is TouchWiz30Launcher.

Yes, I can browse to it on my PC using Droid Explorer. In system/app it is called TouchWiz30Launcher. However, it must be R/O because I can not delete it. Is there a way to mount R/W using Droid Explorer?
There is another file called TouchWiz30Launcher in the sgstools folder...
Ok, I might have just caught a break. A "you have market updates" just popped up in my notification bar.
Should a DL and install Launcher Pro and Home Switcher?
Sounds like a good time to upgrade to Gingerbread launcher. I use it and I loved it. And sgs told you to make sure you had a back up launcher (like launcher pro) before you did that.
why not flash the older launcher again using CWM?

simply go into settings, applications, then manage running application then search the launcher app currently running then select remove defaults after that click force stop the launcher it will bring you back to your default launcher. do not install yet another until you solve the force close. if you install many launchers in your phone force stop other launchers in your all application setting as it will cause battery drain, memory and incompatibility issue since you are running other launchers in the background even if you are not using them.
Ok, I'll try that out. I did not think I could get into settings in the state the phone was in. Good to know that the capacitive buttons should still work without a running launcher.

It should be there it's impossible to know you're running the app but is not present in running applications. Try to open the apps that has a word launcher in it and see if it is running with the option to clear defaults if it has that is the one you should force close.
first off, I've seen fixes for this (I think) but I don't understand what they are saying to do...and whether or not it is a fix for my problem. Been working on this for a couple of hours now and no mas.
So, I have the latest versions of aospCM7, gapps, and clockwork. ( at least I think I do, I dled them all tonight.)
I followed the instructions at the aospcm7 wiki from stock.
The rom runs seemingly fine until I go into the market and try to dl an app (specifically either titanium back up pro or rom manager). Then it will dl and say it has successfully installed then app and immediately force closes. The app does not show up in the drawer, and the force close message pops up randomly afterwards. I have tried a simple reboot, alltheway down to reflashing the rom w/ gapps twice now and trying to reflash gapps alone. As well as re dling the file and replacing the gapps file and reflashing it.
If anyone knows of a solution to this and can explain to me how to execute said solution it would be very appreciated. Btw, this is my first root/ rom so I'm still a super noob Be gentle? lol
EDIT: And now that I tried reflashing them together one more time I'm stuck in a bootloop....
EDIT2: Am now restored back to stock thanks to nandroid back up. thank god. Anyways, I'd still like to figure ou the issue and give it another go ,so if anyone can shed some light, please do.
You using Firerat?
The fixes never worked for me. A few downloads then I had to apply the fixes again and reboot.

I feel ya. What I had to do was recovery, fr recovery, install ROM, fr boot, load the ROM, use the terminal fix, recovery, gapps, fr boot, boot the ROM and skip the automatic search that Google tries to do.
Then virtually the same mess of events to nand restore after a prl update for mms. Too much bs...
Try deleting the market updater apk.
