[Q] ACMEInstaller3 How to power off? - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When using ACMEInstaller3. I accidentally put a space in the cminstall (cm install) folder that I created. Since ACMEInstaller3 could not detect the directory and did not install Cyanogen and reboot it prompted me to power off when ready, but when I hit the power button on the touchpad it just shows [[4~ and does not power off. How do I power off so my computer will recognize the touchpad is connected so I can rename the folder? Thanks!

[Guide] Full Tutorial To Install Custom ROM [GT-P6800]

thnxs to sk806,(go and thank him first)
First, you need to root your device. Download the link from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21584547&postcount=1.
Put the file "root.zip" you just downloaded onto your EXTERNAL SDcard.
Then, power off the device.
When it's off (it'll buzz), press the volume up key (the one closer the power button) and the power key at the same time.
After a few seconds, the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen will come up. When it does, LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON, BUT KEEP HOLDING THE VOLUME UP BUTTON.
Soon you will see some yellow writing on your screen saying the device is copying apks, etc. What is happening is you are booting into the tablet's stock recovery. After a bit, the yellow writing will go away, and then you will arrive at a blue menu.
Using the volume keys, select "install from external storage", then press the power button. You will arrive at a menu of your sd card.
Using the volume keys, select "root.zip" and press the power button.
You will again see some yellow writing and your device will be rooted.
After it's done, reboot the device by selecting reboot and pressing power (it may reboot automatically, I can't remember). You are now rooted!
Now that you are rooted, you need to flash the ported Clockwork Mod Recovery for this tablet onto your device. This is a custom recovery that will replace the stock one you saw before and allow you to flash custom ROMs...You can download the recovery .tar file in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21957277&postcount=1.
You can flash the file your just downloaded, "P6800_Recovery.tar" one of two ways: with an app on the market called "Mobile ODIN", it costs a few dollars, or you can download a windows desktop version of ODIN here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19760431&postcount=1. THE MOBILE ODIN METHOD IS MUCH EASIER, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! If you choose to use Mobile Odin, proceed to the next step and skip steps 14-20, below. If you decide to go the desktop way, skip ahead to step 14.
If you are using Mobile Odin, you just copy the "P6800_Recovery.tar" file to your internal or external storage. Then open Open Mobile Odin. You will see a menu. Toward the bottom, you will see an option to "Open file". Select this and then navigate to the "P6800_Recovery.tar" it will load it up (you will see it in the "recovery" slot). Then hit "Flash Firmware". Wait while it does it's thing, and it will reboot automatically. When it reboots, you have successfully flashed Clockwork Mod Recovery onto your device.
If you use the desktop version, you need to first install Samsung Kies (Google it) to get the proper drivers for you PC to recognize your tablet when plugged in via USB.
Then, copy "P6800_Recovery.tar" to your PC desktop.
Then, you need to unzip the ODIN 1.85.zip you downloaded from the link above onto your desktop, go into the unzipped ODIN folder and run the Odin 1.85.exe.
You will be shown a GUI with a list of buttons on the lower right side (PIT, Recovery, CSC, PDA, Phone, etc.). You want to click the button that says "PDA" and then, in the file selector, choose the "P6800_Recovery.tar" file.
Next you need to put your phone in "download" mode. To do this, power off the device. When it's off, press the VOLUME DOWN and power keys at the same time. When you see the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen, let go of the power button, but keep holding the volume down button (so, it's like booting into recovery, but with the volume down button, instead).
You will then be shown a caution prompt asking if you really want to enter download mode, hit the volume up key to select yes. Now, plug the tablet into the USB cable that came with your tablet and wait for windows to install the drivers (as noted above, this is why you installed Kies). You will know your device is properly connected when one of the windows in the upper left of the GUI has a yellow bar at the bottom of it and says COM:3 or whatever port you are on.
When you are sure your are connected, click the big Start button and it will go through the process, and your tablet will reboot automatically. You now have Clockwork Mod Recovery flashed to your tablet.
Once you have Clocwork Mod Recovery Flashed onto your device, the last step is to flash the custom ROM.
Download ROM zip file from the thread, then place it somewhere on the internal or external storage of your device, then power off.
Once your device is off, you will boot into recovery like you did above, press the volume up and power keys at the same time, and when you see the "Galaxy Tab 7.7" splash screen. let go of the power button, but hold the volume up key until you boot into clockwork mod recovery (you will see a blue menu again with a little logo of a hat on a gear.
As you will see, this is a different recovery from the one you booted into before, it is a custom recovery that will allow you to flash custom ROMs!
Using the volume keys and selecting with the power key, first perform "wipe data/factory reset". When that's done, perform "wipe cache partition".
When you have done these two wipes, select "Install zip from sdcard". You will then be shown a list of your sdcard's contents. Navigate to the ROM .zip file and press the power key. It will then ask you if you are sure, and select yes then press the power key. You will now see a little progress bar and a description of what is happening. It takes a while and your device will reboot automatically when it's finished.
That's it, you have a custom ROM on your tab!

If you hit the "Quote" button below, you can copy the properly formatted text from the reply window (it will start with [QUOTE: blah blah], have "[*]" instead of numbers, and end with [QUOTE/]), and then copy and paste to your OP. first question:
Why you can flash this ROM with your stock recovery, i look inside the script steve made and found that
-script mounting and unmounting /data and /system partition
-deleting file system from /data and /system partition
-moving file from zip to /system and /data partition
-making busybox symlinks
-installing kernel
-set some permission
All above process is support with edify script from stock recovery...( until now, i dont know if samsung lock it someday) thats why you can install steve ROM...

This is correct. The tutorial was for all custom ROMs to come, not just my tweaked stock one. The fact that you can flash my ROM is because it is nothing too exotic (it's stock...) and the bootloader and recovery on the tab is not locked down. These things may change, and it is better to have the CWM recovery for that reason AND, especially, as noted in the post above, you can make NANDROID backups which you really should do before you flash a custom ROM...
Steve
thx for the explanation !
i now use CWM recovery, flashed with Odin mobile
great tut, but my CHINA P6800 will not accept any other ROM install for some reason. Yes, I have a brain and others confirm it's somehow locked. No f-ing idea how; more research after (endless) travel.

so in a nutshell, we're bootloader unlocked, I can get my brand new HK galaxy tab 7.7 and root/CWM right away (like my OG tab) without having to do any Bootloader unlock method?

[Q] No Rom on phone, USB broken only have TWRP - any fixes?

Hey guys,
The USB on phone ONE is borked - the only thing it will do is charge the phone, it can't communicate with a pc (tried a few, over different cables) and it won't read USB OTG either. I accidently erased the OS AND the internal storage of the phone while trying to fix the usb issue (using TWRP).
So I'm now in a position where I have no OS, no ROM zips on the device and no way to get any data onto the device. Short of sending it away to get the usb fixed, are there any solutions to this pickle?
Thanks for any help!
Hmmm... Die you tried to install HTC Driver again?

Recovery
Are you able to boot into your bootloader
On your PC or Laptop - reboot the machine. Once booted press the windows key + E. Navigate to your sdk folder and highlight the "platfor-tools' folder. once hilighted (single mouse click to highlight) hold the SHIFT key and left click the "platform-tools" folder. Select open command window here.
On your phone - Power down then Hold the Vol down button and press the power button. Hold both for a few seconds > release the power while continuing to hold the vol down button until the bootloader screen appears.
If this does not work try holding the power button untill you see the Back and Home soft keys flashing. Continue holding the power until they stop flashing. Immediately release the power button and push the vol down button. do not release until you see the bootloader screen.
Select 'Recovery' from the list to boot into TWRP.
Select Advanced
Select SideLoad
Plug in your USB cable
On your PC or laptop copy the viper rom to you platform-tools folder. Now right click the rom file and rename it sideload.zip
in the command window you opened earlier type > adb sideload sideload.zip
here is a link to a sideload thread.

[Q] [Need Help] Can't boot???

Hi all
Now,I'm using Note 3 AT&T (N900A). When I am using Odin to go to Recovery, then press Fail Odin, then I can not turn it on. Now, I can not use any buttons on the machine. When I press the Power button, the machine does not vibrate. The screen is dark. Anyone can help me? Thanks so much!!
P/s: sorry about my English.
Follow instructions word for word, take your time and go slow
1.Download the (alreadykitkat.zip) if you haven't done so yet.
2. Extract it to somewhere on your desktop or PC
3.Copy “Safestrap-Custom.apk” to your phones internal memory, and install it. Make sure you install recovery from within safestrap app, or verify that it is installed
4.Next copy the rom to your phones internal memory(it’s called XNote Port.zip)
5.Boot into download mode (power off, then hold-Volume down, Home and power button at same time
6.Open the “Togetsafestrap” folder and open Odin (win 7 and 8 users may need to run with administrator rights). Add the correct partition Files,
Make sure the files or AP_N900AUCUBMJ5.tar.md5 and BL_N900AUCUBMJ5.tar.md5 and verify your Odin window looks like this picture
7.Click start. Now when the phone is booting up make sure to click “recovery” on the safestrap screen.
(If you missed it just hold down, power button until phone reboots)
8. You can wipe before flashing (Optional) if you want a clean install. Flash the X-Note Port.zip to Stock slot,
But don’t reboot when done,
9. Keep hitting the back button until you see the reboot menu button
Press reboot menu button and select download mode button. Or if you messed up and rebooted just Press Volume down, Home and power button at same time until your back in download mode.
10. Now open the folder “togetbooting” and open Odin. Select the correct partition Files, Make sure you select AP_N900AUCECMGL.tar and BL_N900AUCECMGL.tar and verify your Odin window looks like this picture
11. Click start
done, enjoy the ROM

Lost Options screen when long pressing power button

I always remove some of the apps from folders like root/system/app and root/system/priv-app. So far everything is going good. Recently after I flashed MIUI 11 (Android 10) from xiaomi.eu weekly build, I removed some more system apps after finished flashing.
This time I may have overdone removing system apps. Now, when I long press power button the options screen is not popping out (i.e Reboot, Shutdown, Airplane mode, Silence options window). When I long press power button it hot boot (quick boot) the device and keep pressing power button still longer is fresh rebooting the device.
Can anyone help which system app that I may have removed. The apps I tried restoring root/system/app are, MiGalleryLockscreen, LiveWallpapersPicker, MiWallpaper and ThemeManager. No luck on this.
Can anyone help me please.
Solved. I deleted root/system/media/theme folder. I extracted from MIUI 11 firmware and copied in to my device. Start the device in to TWRP and copied "theme" folder in to root/system/media and set permission to 755. Once rebooted my device I can see long press power button has all the options in there.
