N oE Hello everyone this is my first post please tell me that is it safe to include 16 gb class 10 card for our ace
I mean will the phone slow down or not if not then will the speed remain good if i create a ext partition of 1 gb out of it
No worries bout the speed but ext partition reduces the health of the sd card. So becareful n hit thnx if helpd.

so a 1 gb partition should be ok or not should a small partition should be made

whether u make 1gb or 512mb partition reduces the life of sd card. I prefer and am using 1gb with 0 swap is enough for use. All the best for partitioning. hit thnx if helpd
Actually 1GB of partition is not at all necessary. It is just a mere waste of space as ace cannot persist so many installed apps. 512MB is more than enough & for me, just 256MB is enough.

As someone said the ext partition if use to only save in apks is totally safe and will not demage your sd card in any way. Apps will run maybe faster than on interal memory. Remeber to keep apps cache clean and to relink apps and cache in order to keep performance as high as possible. That's all I think. Good luck and for any question I'm here, you can send me PM anytime. Peace!

Hi guys
Could anyone explain to me what it does when you have partitions on your SD'cards ?
And in the Eye candy rom, there's something about "Hard Coded 2MB SD cache"
What does all this means ?
Sorry for beeing a noob in this area
(using SwiftDroid V2.0 RC3)
I think this is the hard coded SD cache, but without this app. Install, set to 2MB, check the box and apply.
Im using an 8gb sd what is the correct partition ext value
Sent from my GT540 using XDA Premium App
the exit partition number isn't important you can have two or three what's important is how much cache you give the sd or how big swap partition is for your card I would say ext 3 512 mb swap 256 mb and 2.5 mb sd cache should be good hope this helps also you can check your memory in terminal just type su then free

your welcome also if all that sounded ab it hard use clock work mod to partition and create swap then use sd booster from market and set value to 2500

Hey guys hope someone have experienced it but i want to know what would be the best storage location for apps? Would the phone run faster if they are in phones memory? Or the sdcard?
Is there any differece about it??
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
It depends on your sd card class a. Class 10 would be faster than internal memory
Thanks for reply.! I currently have 8gb class 4 what would u think? Keep apps on internal memory or on sdcard?
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Class 4 is enough for smooth running from sd card, but faster is better!

mine's 8gb class 4 too and it seems fine for me,well apps which has widgets etc shud be installed on internel memory, other apps and games to sd card, install app2sd,it will notify automatically whether the app can be moved to sdcard or shud be left on internal memory

With class 4 there is always problems with your phone recognizing the SD card. Class 4 will work on stock but most of the time it wont work on a custom kernel. I always suggest people to get a class 10. Search the internet you will get it for cheap
Stuff that you have running the whole time you need keep them in memory. With games i suggest putting them on an external SD card. Even if its a slow SD card you save space with your internal memory.
Thanks for the reply guys hey have someone ever tried partitioning the sdcard, and would the phone read the 2 partitions as external storage? Might be a noobi question
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
With app2sd app u create 2 partition, one for storage and one for app2sd.U see one partition(for storage),other is "invisible" because it is for moving apps to sd card.

I have a class 4 16 gb. Its is ok for running games and other stuff. For important stuff, like things that need SU and things you use daily, it is best to keep it in phone memory.

Use ext2 for the second partition. And use app2sd script to make it work =D

Does using scripts like a2sd dartremor and apps like swapper and swapper2 for the purpose of swapping damages the memory card??? N does swapping really makes any differences in performance??
Lilttle yes and yes
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda premium
Makes difference in performance, but the impact on it is negative
Depends on your SD card if it is high class then it is possiyive else it can lag your phone I use swapper and have created 512 MB swap file on my SD ext and my phone has become so smooth

what about affect on memory card ..is it positive or negative??
You just lose the anmount of space you use for swapping ofc
I tried swapping on many roms and system tends to lag a bit, but i f you want to browse for hours without browser FCing then you can use swap.
The effect on sd cqrd obviously isnt positive but it is not even negative cause you are just ising up.space on your sd card. I have used swap on many roms i.have felt it become smoother.

ya i know it takes some space on sd card while using it,,, i want to say does swapping degrade the life of sd card and damages it??

i was going to use swapper2 from the market,, it says that it damages the sd card,,, so i want to know only this app damages the sd card or all apps which does swapping example a2sd darktremor script and swapper??
I wonder which how much mb should we allow for swap partition and swappiness value :O?

Don't worry about it too much, sd cards are cheap anyway

I wonder if swapping works in cm9. Maybe we could get some free Ram then ....

please dont use swapper 2 from market it doesnt support our device. i lost my 8 gb sd card due to that (got a new 32gb one) our mini not supported in the list given a2sd gui i have not tried i used swapper but system lags so switched to swapit my mini is so smooth and so awesome.
Swapper for Root
Swapper for Root user
I've tried Swapper 2 and it's just worked fine, but you need a kernel that support swap partition of course.
And I recommend you to up date your busybox.

The S3-Evolution-Beta-3-Ultimate needs Ext3 or Ext4 partition on SDcard, but how much space do I need to create on a 2GB SD Card and what's the difference between Ext3 and Ext4.
Thanks to maxx35000 for creating this ROM :good:
make it for 500mb. .only ext 3 will work for 2gb card.

Best & safest way is backup memory card and format from setting !!!!

You can't physically increase the phones internal memory size, but your SD partition can be any size you wish. I assume your looking to use your SD card to store apps?
