Kernel flashing on custom ROM question - Motorola Atrix HD

Is it possible to flash a different kernel to a stock ROM ?
I will like to over clock it jus a bit and to test

Your question contradicts itself. Do you want a different kernel on stock or custom? If on stock no. Unless you run a stock based rom like holo blur.

That happened to me a couple of times while trying to root HoloBlur ROM. I did a couple of full wipes/reinstalls until it came back

That's not completely correct it depends on how custom or what the base is,now if your stock based you can use stock kernel with say holoblur, but that's it.
Exactly what echo said still. Doesn't work on custom roms.. It'll work on modified stock.

[Q] How is this possible? Miui on locked BL

I know this is for a different Sony device but I thought you couldn't flash custom kernels with a locked bootloader. Could someone tell me how this is possible? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2138098

You cannot flash custom kernels. After a very quick look I found that that Rom is not a pure MIUI Rom, but mixed with stock which is why it works. Please can anyone with more time to investigate current me if I am wrong

It is not based on CM but stock ROM.
