I am going to buy a galaxy camera but I've some questions about this product.
1) I live in Italy and I found a galaxy camera imported from another country in a shopping online site (so I can save money).
If I buy it, can I use an Italian sim card? So is the camera sim/region locked?
2) Is 4G/LTE supported? And has anyone tried how fast it is?
3) I saw on sammobile that latest Italian kies firmware was released this month, January 2013. Can I flash the Italian firmware also if galaxy camera is not an Italian product?
4) Does flashing a new firmware with Kies increase the download counter? So do I lose my warranty in this way? And can I reset counter with jig o triangle away?

1) I live in Italy and I found a galaxy camera imported from another country in a shopping online site (so I can save money).

2) Is 4G/LTE supported? And has anyone tried how fast it is? Only on the EK-GC120
3) I saw on sammobile that latest Italian kies firmware was released this month, January 2013. Can I flash the Italian firmware also if galaxy camera is not an Italian product? Flash away! You can flash what you like
4) Does flashing a new firmware with Kies increase the download counter? So do I lose my warranty in this way? And can I reset counter with jig o triangle away? It only increases if you put something custom on there, like if you root it, but it can be reset with "Triangle Away"
1: if it's unlocked(usually is) you can use any(micro) SIM, but 4G might not be the right frequency.
2: there are 3G and 4G versions, so for 4G you need to get the 4G version and check if it supports the frequencies used by your carrier.
3: only if it's the exact same model.
I used the UK update on my Dutch camera and it works fine.
4: flashing a firmware with kies should always be safe.
if kies increases your counter Samsung made a mistake and can't legally void your warranty.
kies however can only flash updates for the region your camera is from to my knowledge.
you can use Odin to flash a different region rom, which is safe as long as the rom is an unmodified stock rom.
depending on which rom you have installed triangle away may or may not work, it should work on older roms and will most likely receive updates(if it didn't already) for newer roms.
a little note on region switching though: there really is not much need if it's a European version.
all European roms include a very large list of languages in settings, which includes Italian.
the only region that really has any advantage would be UK, because they got the last big update before anyone else.
R: Some questions...
Thanks for your answers. So is the latest UK firmware the best? I thought it was the Italian one because I think it's the latest released in Europe.

Can't really comment on that as I've not personally tried the Italian one to make an informed comparison. Usually firmware released around the same time, are essentially the same firmware just with specific region changes.
But looking at the change list numbers, there maybe enough of a difference to say there are more code changes in the latest Italian release.
Only way to know which is "better", is to try them both out yourself, unless someone here who has tried both, can answer that question for you.

Hi,
is there a way to backup the efs-folder ?
I heard Vodafone got theirs yesterday. Just wondering if any of us Three users knows when we'll be getting it too!
Cheers,
Andy.

Im asking what CSC three uk e.g. hutchinson three uk
GT-N7000's run as far as im aware they dont have a custom rom for the uk
I've always been a little weary about flashing roms. I just like having the ability to update via kies. I'll probably look into soon though. My little Note isn't even a year old yet D;

Hi Guys I'll be getting my RAZR i soon so I wanna clear some things out if you don't mind helping a newbie
NOTE: I am experienced with root, ROM, CWM and other stuff because I am currently owning a SAMSUNG phone.
1. I'll get my phone SIM Unlocked already, if I flash other ROMs (Official and Custom), would it still accept my SIM?
2. It will come with US Firmware, if I change it to Europe or any other country will it accept my SIM?
3. Is it worth rooting? I mean going into alot of trouble for just this.
NOTES: I am living in Philippines, means no service center for Motorola, if I get bricked, then it's gonna be hard.
4. Updating the firmware on an unlocked bootloader will brick my device, does the Custom ROMs have a feature that removes the OTA Update?
5. Are there any CM 10/10.1 ROMS? Or any famous Custom ROM? If not, can you provide me the "best ROM" for Razr i? I am browsing some ROMs but I'd like to see more.
Thank you all.

I have the stock rom with no root (C6603) running android 4.1.2 on build number 10.1.A.1.434, it refuses to update to 4.2.2 over the air or using sony pc companion, I avoided rooting this time because I have apps the don't work when the phone is rooted (banking), I'm with virgin media but the phone is unlocked, is there a way that I can get this update without having to root the phone??
thank you for your time
There is no update to 4.2.2 for UK unbranded handsets. I assume that is what Virgin supplied you with.
Enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler then look in Service Info -> Software Info. If your Customisation version is 1270-7689, then you have a UK unbranded device and cannot officially update yet.
You can download one of the many ftf available in the general section and flash it with flashtool however. That does not require root.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
Here is a link to change the customisation number of your device (root required) that will make PC companion believe you have an available update to download. I tried this amd it worked first time
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311211
However if you do not want to root the devixe, then simply using flashtool and your stock 4.2.2 .ftf file you will have no problem achieving what you wish
Hope it helps

Unbranded UK users are being completely ignored by sony
I'm in the same boat as you, haven't found the time/patience to flash a stock firmware that actually receives updates. Unbranded UK users are being completely ignored by sony.
I'm already feeling bad for buying my phone via expansys on release.

Why not just flashing an 4.2.2 rom via flashtool. No root required.

I live in Portugal, should I flash the Portuguese unbranded firmware or the Spanish which is in the latest version?
Do I have to delete my data to flash the new firmware?
... sorry for asking, I know that somewhere in XDA there are adequate answers, its just that it would be much nicer if Sony would just release the unbranded firmware for all unbranded Xperia Z's! I'm a software developer myself, and cannot think why, after Sony releasing the latest firmware in the UK (branded), would not release the unbranded version since the only relevant think is the country customization which must already have been achieved in the branded firmware.

Well I don't know of there is a Portuguese one. I honestly flashed a Chinese stock rom and i just check I have Spanish and also Portuguese languages. U really can flash any stock 4.2.2 rom u like. I don't know why unbranded devices don't get an update mine is unbranded too and I had to flash a stock firmware. But it wasn't a big deal. And u don't lose if u don't choice wipe data ur data but there some ppl that had severely issues flashing without full wipe. My flash went without any issues or data wipe. But I can't 100% promise it will work by u without issues too.

Flash tools for mac or linux
If I have the time, I'll flash my phone this weekend...
Do you know what tools I can use in mac or linux? The official stuff only works well on windows. I know there's a flash tool for mac but there are no up-to-date tutorials, maybe I'll risk it, this 2 firmware updates behind is not a comfortable place to be.

Sadly for Mac I have no clue to be honest. And yeah the 2 softwares below make a difference they slightly calibrated the screen even more and also camera a little bit more. This how the phone should had been released.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
yeah, my version is
United Kingdom Generic UK 1270-7689 10.1.A.1.434 R14A 10.1.A.1.434 R14A
basically the unbranded and yes I bought it pre-paid from virgin media as I had a contract with them and could get the phone cheaper than I could get it online, find this pretty insulting that they have just ignored a huge portion of their consumers again, they did this with the last phone I had with them which they actually canceled the updates past android 2.1 even though people had 2.3.7 running on it fine at the time and even have jb 4.1.2 running (partially from the sd card of the phone) on that handset, sony release great devices and just leave them with little to no support, I'm tempted to boycott them in the future if this is the legacy they wish to leave behind, very sad since they have well polished hardware, any news on a possible release date for us ?
Im in the same boat and have a generic UK device stuck on 4.1.2 , what stock ROM is recommended to flash onto UK devices so they still receive OTA Updates etc? , really do not want root on the device at the moment due to Sky Go apps etc.
Cheers
Gavin

well global firmware(if there is such a thing) would be more towards the n960f since it is more popular and also the same same chipset as ure phone. its sold in UK, greater asia, india, Oceania etc...)
the n9600 is a snapdragon chip. and only sold in china and south America.
but regardless you cant flash stock firmware on different model devices. its a known fact.
if you root then u can flash custom n960f roms no problem on the n960n.(i have it too and been flashing all sorts of custom roms made for the F variant)

u cannot flash any other stock firmware than n960n with odin.
if you want to flash a custom rom.zip , you need to install twrp recovery and root. this will void warranty and also trip knox and some services will no longer work:
samsung pay
might be others.
please read the guides and discussion forums for more information on rooting.

what do you think, because I am a beginner I better use the current stock ROM (N960N) or have to replace another ROM? actually I just don't like Korean accents and Korean network operator logos when I turn it on or trun off my device because I'm already outside Korea. then what is the ROM recommendation for me?

As a beginner the best and most important thing you need to do is research and read up on these topics.
Head over to the development forum and see what each rom offers and choose the one which sounds most suitable for you.
None of us can answer whats best for you dude only you know that.
The nice thing is you can flash and try out as many roms as you want!

ok. then yeah just check the dr. ketan root oem fix guide in the guide and dicsussion sections.
I too want to flash the Spanish stock ROM, so as to get rid of d the bloatware and also to use Samsung Pay. A friend of mine told me to buy the Korean version and then flash the Spanish stock ROM, which he did with his note 8 and didn't trigger Knox. I'm getting the Secure Check Fail: Bootloader error when trying to flash with Odin, it's stuck at SYSTEM flashing. Don't know what to do anymore, tried rebooting everything, changing USB ports, running Odin as an admin, and flashing different versions of Android.
Can anyone help?

I know for a fact that the Korean variant of the Note 9 and the international variant both run on the exact same hardware. With the only differences being in the bloatware included with the Korean variant. So theoretically speaking installing the Spanish N960F/D variant's OS onto the N960N should work perfectly without any issues

it work only if you flash a custom ROM, even thought they are the same but you cannot flash a F/D firmware with odin in N model, it mos be a bootloader thing or something else.
by the way the n9600 is a snapdragon model so that is even more impossible.
