I signed up for AIO Wireless on Friday (Aug 16) here in Houston. Just for that day, I got LTE reception from AIO.
Starting Aug 17 (next day), I am not getting any LTE reception. When I go to Network app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network), it displays that I am on WCDMA band. Interesting thing is that I can not change that band.
When I was on AT&T, I was able to move from WCDMA to LTE/GSM/WCDMA and vice versa.
My question is - if there is anyone who is not getting LTE on AIO in Houston/Miami?
Also - any help on getting my phone provisioned to LTE would be great !
You can't change it in your phones network settings or the secret phone menu?

I am on stock AT&T rom (with root and unlocked b/l). I tried *#*#4636#*#* but it is not working from phone app.
There is no other setting to choose band or carrier in settings.
Is there an alternate way to execute secret command?
It sounds like a bad sim card. Also, download an app called lte on/off for thunderbolt. It will take you to the secret settings menu that AT&T blocks access to from the dialpad. It works on phones other than the thunderbolt.

Hmm...but my phone and data (HSDA and HSDA+) are working...
Hmm. Try the phone settings trick from my other comment. It's also possible they are just doing network updates or something.

I tried that without luck..Network app that I used is same as that...may be that's the secret menu that AT&T blocks...which is accessible from Network or LTE ON/OFF app...
Get pimp my rom and under tools there is access hidden menu which will get you there also. You don't have the network mode option under mobile networks?
Sent from my PACMAN MATRIX HD MAXX
It should take you to a testing menu the first of which is phone information. It is the same as you get by dialing *#*#info#*#* if you can get to that menu and it won't let you switch to LTE/GSM/WCDMA, then it probably is a sim issue.

All is well...phone got automatically re-provisioned and now can log on to LTE when available.
One thing to note though, LTE speeds are capped at 6-7 mb!
Thanks anyone who responded.

Right around early May, my droid 3 and my mom's droid 3 stopped gettinng 3g. Ihave switched in and out of airplane mode, switched from cdma to global to gsm and got nothing, and even called verizon about it. No one can tell me why our phones have suddenly lost 3g capabilities. I also checked 3g availability online and double checked with my Nexus One, which still gets 3g. Does anyone know anything about this?
Sent from my DROID3 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2
If both phones lost it at the same time, it sounds like a possible local Verizon tower issue. Have you tried traveling to another area to see if the phones gain a 3G signal or try with another Verizon 3G device to see if it gets signal.
Go to ##program and use the 000000 and set it to EVDO only

Or just do it from *#*#4636#*%* That is easier.

what does EvoDo only do?
Disabled 1x and makes it so your only speed is 3g.

And lose voice connection. Exellent advice!
Had similar issue and fixed it by going back to stock, updating via System Updater method in the About Phone System Pref (wording of that may be incorrect but its there in the stock load out). After phone updated I re-rooted and reflashed the rom I was using and problem solved. I should mention that prior to doing that I had verizon customer support stumped and they had shipped me out a replacement phone before I realized how to fix it.

By forcing it to 3g it may force it to work.
You cannot have voice if switch to EV-DO only. It's CDMA. It is not just like GSM/UMTS, where you can switch to UMTS only and continue to have voice service.

I don't think he's suggesting it as a permanent solution, however if there is a hardware problem causing the 3G not to work, then you should be able to confirm this by setting it to evdo only. If it's having some sort of problem switching something on, then maybe the switch to evdo only will enable it and it might work when getting switched back to CDMA auto prl.

Thanks for clarifying. That is exactly what I meant but it was early in the morning and so having the clarification from someone more awake helps. Also I was aware EVDO only is just data.

It doesn't work with every operator.
For example here in Kazakhstan you can subscribe to 1xRTT only with simple handset or to combined 1xRTT + Ev-Do rev.A with smartphone or modem. In case of using service with smartphone switching to "EvDo only" leaves user off both networks.
have you tried a fastboot back to stock? it may be a software issue....
I am sure it is totally NV-item problem. Radio hardware is another issue.
I have changed NV-item 8035, rewritten all NV-items by those from whiterabbit, but still Ev-Do login being tried by MDN plus actual Ev-Do login.
I haven't seen anyone else ask so I shall do so. lol
I know it is capable of recieving the signal, but I'm asking for those of us with LTE who want to force an HSPA+ signal to save on battery, keep the device from heating up so much, etc.

You can download phone info from the play store and go to phone information and at the bottom there will be a list of modes to use.
This setting will reset when you reboot the phone.

I couldnt really figure it out with the phone info app.
And I used to get HSPA+ (10-15mbps) fine on it before I got an actual micro sim. But they made me switch my data to lte at the at&t store. That's AT&T for ya though.

WCDMA Only would be the 3G+. It'll kick over to HSDPA for a couple of seconds then to HSUPA.

When i try to switch bands my phone always reverts back to LTE
So my question is, and correct me if I'm wrong. But, I can still unlock the att atrix HD to be used on tmobile , correct? Reason for leaving the nexus 4 is the eb40 battery. I had the atrix HD a few months back that had the eb40 in it and got 7 hours of actual screen time with 30 hours between charges. That alone is good enough of a reason.

Yes. You can unlock it and use it with T-Mo. You will get full 4G (if in your area) as well as LTE. (again, only if its in your area)

Do it bro. I unlocked mine and so far no problems. The only rom that have me problems was that miuiv5 port. It would ask me for my unlock code every now and then but LiquidSmooth working powerfully and perfectly! I paid 20 bucks for my unlock code and had it within 2 to 3 hours. No signal nor lte problems although i prefer h+ on T-Mobile due to lte being a batt hog

YUP. Welcome to the Matrix HD T-mo club.
After unlocking, make sure you set the fast.t-mobile.com apn which gives you access to LTE.
Otherwise if you're in an lte area, you'll have no access to internet (the 4g lte icon will be shown but cant turn on).
Mexica retail will allow you to manually select between 4g/3g/2g modes if youre feeling like saving battery/MB
I got LTE 13 on T-Mobile with stock rom and epc.T-Mobile.com apn

Looks like I'll be using the mexico ROM. Apparently there are no custom kernels for this thing yet? Or am I missing something?

There are, but they're for the 4.2.2 custom roms. Without an actual kernel dev working on this device making a custom stock kernel, the best we could do is add in a few patches to the stock for CPU/GPU overclocking, some IO schedulers, and maybe some of the patches used by the dev team. I've even thought about doing a full merge of the dev team kernel and our stock JB kernel just because I can, don't know what that'll do or if it would even boot.
What's included with the mexico ROM? I'm assuming the barebones stock kernel.
Is there a way to force HSPA / disable LTE? *#*#4636#*#* doesn't work.
Being in an area that constantly switches between HSPA and LTE is a battery killer and I'd rather be able to simply force HSPA.

There are various apps that allow you to access the same menu as *#*#4636#*#*. The one that i've used is called LTE On/Off for Thunderbolt. It takes you to that menu, and works fine on phones other than the thunderbolt. Select WCDMA Preferred from the list and it goes to HSPA+.

If you have an AT&T Moto X then you don't have CDMA so you shouldn't be able to select that option. Try selecting the WCDMA only or WCDMA preferred option.

Yep, that is it.
So I picked up an unlocked XT1053 GSM developer edition a month or so ago. I got on Net10 and everything seems fine except for one issue.
When I am in an HSPA+ area and come into a known LTE area the phone doesn't seem to switch to LTE right away. If I toggle airplane mode on and off I get full LTE with good signal and it holds strong until I'm back in a weak area. If I am in an LTE area for a while after about 30 min or so it will finally switch on it's own, but I would think it should be much faster without using airplane mode. Anyone have any ideas?
Call your service provider and provide them your IMEI so they can provision your device.

LTE works on my phone though, it just doesn't switch right away. It seems like if HSPA+ is even one dB better then it stays on it. If I toggle airplane mode I get strong LTE. Is that a provisioning issue?
Is there a way with APNs or anything to make LTE take priority if it's present?
It could be the provisioning. You sim may not be fully provisioned. If that doesn't fix it.
You can change it to lte only.
Install a app called any cut. Create a short cut for testing. Select the first option and at the bottom change it lte only. See if it works. If not then the network isn't allowing iy

Well I ordered an actual nano Sim from net10 since they just got them. It will be here tomorrow so I'm sure that when I transfer my service to it my account will get provisioned. If I still have problems I'll try what you mentioned.
