Long press power button to toggle flashlight when screen off - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if I can use that in the custom 4.3 gpe roms? It's one of the feature in vipers, but I just tried like 3 different xposed mods (gravity box, modaco, and tweak boxand) none of them has it, be a great help if anyone can point me the right direction thanks

It would be great

There is an option in gravity box that toggles it by pressing on the lockring.

i already tested this option but it's not exactly what we want.
With gravity you have to push the power button to go to the lock screen and then push another button (e.g home or volume down) to switch on the Flashlight.
the wanted option is also on the Sense 5 Toolbox xposed modules but i don't think it will work on the GPE

Well i use a custom kernel with s2w and that makes it a lot easier. So you want to toggle it without turning on the phone?

Not sure about toggling without turning on the screen, but Cyanogenmod ROMs support this from the lock screen.
Under settings >Lock screen > Button actions > Long press Home button, set this to Flashlight.
Hopefully someone else can post more information regarding doing this while the screen is switched off.

Got you PM and I have thrown the parts of Sense 5 Toolbox responsible for this mod into a new tiny mod. Can you guys test it please and if it doesn't work send me the Xposed log? Thanks

Thanks, I have just tested it but it's not working. When I press the power off button to switch off the screen, the screen is going off but push it again, the screen stay black. I had to long press the power button to reboot the device. In xposed I only have two lines :
Code:
2 janv. 2014 22:29:23 UTC
Loading Xposed v42 (for Zygote)...
Loading modules from /data/app/de.langerhans.xposed.powerflashge-1.apk
Loading class de.langerhans.xposed.powerflashge.XMod
For now, I have to de activate the module in xposed

how did you get it to workl?

Same here. Not working on GPE

Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch. No root required.

[MOD]Enabled soft keys/Disabled Cap buttons **7.29 update posted**

This mod enables onscreen soft keys (THANKS TO LEONARDOARAUJO for the modded framework-res) and disables all cap keys except for menu. cap keys still are illuminated, but home, back, and search are disabled as well as haptic feedback for the 3. as i cannot as of yet get a search key remap working i decided to try n make this.I kinda like it btr even tho i lose a lil real estate cuz soft keys are cool..tested and working fine.

Until the backlight params editing is backported to CM10, you might want to try Screen Filter. I used that app since CM9 to disable the backlights on the capacitive buttons. Cheers!
Edit: Scrap that. It seems that it doesn't work (yet) on CM10. I'll try searching for something else.
Edit 2: Success! Adjbrightness works flawlessly!

Yeah, I noticed you left the menu button enabled. I've edited mine to disable the menu button as well, so it's all off for me.

i left mine on cuz there are times and places i need to enter menu but the 3 dots aren't there. maybe leo can add menu to the soft keys, ill ask.
In what app(s) does that occur? I haven't checked every app on my phone, but it's all good so far. The 3 dots show up either next to the soft buttons or on the actionbar.

actually now tht im paying attn, i think its mainly from home screen using apex. i can set a shortcut but i jus kinda like having menu access rt there. works for me
edit: ur right..menu 3 dots thing is there anytime there is a menu to access, EXCEPT apex home screen. but sometimes its up on top. i thought about disabling menu but decided to keep it as its nice to have rt there, i guess for the same reason i like the search key to recents remap..more easily accessible.

[Q] Sweep 2 wake issue

I have a small issue with S2W function. Im using my rooted IncS, s-unlock, Revolutionary, CWM, Sabsa Prime 8.5 with @Nonverbose kernel .7. I also have Trickster mod installed with S2W enables. When I swipe from home to search, voila, sure enough it wakes. But when I do the opposite to go into sleep mode, search to home, it will take a screen shot and not sleep. Has anybody else ran into this?
it's a known issue. s2w and screenshot feature conflicts. you need to disable screenshot to use that. need to add a parameter to build.prop, dont remember it though, search arnd on forum and you'll find it.

Appreciate the input. I like the screen shot feature so I will just use the s2w for just that, sweep to wake only.
add ro.htc.framework.screencapture=false to your build.prop
now, to take a screenshot, press power + vol-down at the same time for a second.
You could also not "sweep" all the war to the home button, or just above the actual keys.

I'm new to this game and editing scripts is a little advanced for me ... but always willing to learn. First, where to I find the build.prop and secondly how do I edit it?
Appreciate your input too as well

I tried the short sweep but still takes screen shot. However swiping just above the keys DOES work. Thanks again! :good:

Possible to remove on screen menu "icon" button?

Since I'm using bulletproof kernel (double tap htc log for menu) I do not need the on screen menu button. Anyone figured out how to remove to get back some screen real estate?

I am pretty sure the option to disable 3 dot is in the aroma installer when you install the BP kernel.
EDIT: Just checked again, Yes the option to disable 3 dot is there when your installing BP kernel.
Flash tranquil rls4 it has the option to remove 3 dot menu, as well as a ton more options.

MoDaCo was also able to get rid of the thing for me using the long-press back as menu option.

Home button flashlight

Hey this might b a dumb question but.. i know along time ago you could hold down the home button while on the lockscreen to turn on flash light is there any way we can set this up on our phone? i use that flash light app a ton and i hate having to unlock phone or try to drag my finger up on a app to start it

Wanam xposed. Tweak is available to turn flashlight on by holding volume up when screen is off. Works well

Wanam works as mentioned, but personally I had better experience with XuiMod. The lock screen torch in XuiMod works during the lock screen and let's you choose which button you would like, I have mine set to the Home button. Lot easier and more responsive than Wanam from my experience.

I've got my set up on the Volume button with Wanam as well. Great experience on my end, fast, responsive - allows a timeout to auto turn off if you'd like.

Kernel that just enables logo as a button?

I am running stock GPE android 5.1 (though my phone came with Sense). I want to change the capacitive buttons to match the normal google layout i.e. I want to enable the htc logo as the home button and change the home button to display recent apps. Is there a simple kernel that will just do this and nothing else? If not is there a simple kernel that will just enable the htc logo as a button and not give me options to overclock or change a bunch of other stuff? Thanks for your help.

I don't know exactly if you can do that specific option with this kernel, but ElementalX has the aroma installer so you can leave everything stock without having to overclock and you enable just the features you want. I'm running it with Logo2Menu, so maybe there is an option to change the button arrangement. Doesn't hurt to give it a try.

You don't want that feature trust me. It doesnt turn the logo as a button, but puts the sensor a little bit above it, so when you are typing you accidentally open the stupid menu and hit something random, and next thing you know, you are in a video call with someone from madagascar. Trust me dude, you dont want this stupid feature on the htc one m7.
You can also just enable soft keys too instead of using the physical buttons.
There is an app somewhere that actually uses the space above the logo, but this is different then the kernel. I just used the elementalx kernel (which was my backup plan if I didn't find something better). I can't do logo2home and home2recents like I wanted to, but I don't have any problem with accidentally hitting the logo button instead of space. I guess this could be because I usually swipe to type, but I'm testing it now and I have to be off the screen before it hits the button (though just barely). Overall I'd say definitely worth it for me.
