Hi all!
A friend of mine has an Optimus 2X that she got from her university. She has to develop an unity app which works with 2.3 APIs so she needs a Ginger Bread ROM to use these APIs. Since she has a Nexus 4, she already has the newest JB version to test the app on newer devices. This is why she explicitly wants a Gingerbread ROM, and nothing newer. Could anyone give a guide on how to install a Gingerbread ROM and which of them is the best for this purpose?
Information about the current installed version:
Model number: LG-P990
Android version: 2.2.2
Baseband version: 1035.21_20110218
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-dirty
Build number: FRG83G
LGE Version LGP990-V10b
Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated!
Smirny
EDIT:
Since the phone belongs to the university, she cannot unlock the bootloader. Also, the software update within Android itself says that there is no new version available. Is it still possible for her to upgrade to a GB ROM, maybe even a stock one?
Search for Homero2 thread and download on phone SD card his nvflash 20S rom.
Download on PC the All In One Tool 5.6 in Dev section and follow the guide of the operation requested before nvflashing the 20S rom.
Edit: you can update to GB stock LG without unlocking the phone.
Link to LG 2x support site, download and install drivers, connect 2x to pc, start the LG Update on PC and follow the instructions.

Greetings from Germany. Phone runs on 2.2 Android with Kernel 2.6.32.9 root @ SE-S608#1
The Samsung Kies says
PDA:JPH
PHONE:JPP
CSC:JPA (ORS)
I wanted to upgrade to Gingerbread, but Kies says its already running on the newest available (Froyo). Im using the english version of Kies, think it doesn't matter?
1. Im using the german O2 Network, and I think the phone is not branded or rooted cause its new. Is the Gingerbread not out yet for my phone version ?
2. Can I flash the newest firmware like 2.3.4 by using Odin - WITHOUT rooting the phone - (rooting voids the warranty) ?
3. Is there currently any good custom ROM which is perfectly stable and has none bugs or lacking functions of official Gingerbread 2.3 ?
Heres a great 2.3.3 rom (Darkys)
Very stable and very fast, give it a go, you have to flash the JVH base rom first.
have a read....

Please help me..
same here..... used stock FW with smartflash, restored - problem still exists..
With so poor details how can we help you?
Rooted?
LG PC suite still installed on your phone?
Custom or stock ROM?
Which version of ROM?
Are you sure to have latest lg drivers installed on your computer?
We are not magicians, we need precise and detailed facts, more than 'it doesn't work'

Hello, I hope you guys will be able to guide me step by step in upgrading my phone's software!
I haven't updated my phone's ROM/firmware/kernel for over a year, and it started lagging + I'd like to have the new features of current custom ROM's, like the MIUI v4 for I9000 based on ICS. Now, I'm no noob when it comes to flashing/rooting/installing custom ROM's, firmware and/or kernels, but I haven't done it in over a year so I'm rusty.
The current software my i9000 is running is:
Firmware version: 2.2.1
Baseband version: I9000XXJPY
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #Voodo_stable_5.4.1
Build number: Darky's v9.3.XWJS5
Could someone please explain the shortest/simplest way of upgrading it so I can enjoy the new ROMs? Thank you!

1-just make full wipe (3 wipe)
2-root your device with CF root or by semaphore kernel 2.5 not 2.7.4
3-download cm9 to your sd card
4-flash it through cwm
5-then flash your favour ics rom

Hi there
cousin of mine is unsure how to proceed from a rooted 2.2 Frojo to Jelly Bean, here are his questions:
Hello,
I need your help because I don´t know the next steps to flash
my Android.
I rooted my international Galaxy S I9000 with vodafone branding.
(I flashed the "CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPO-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1" kernel)
Then I installed the ROM Manager app to install CWM 2.5.
I have still e2 Recovery but I can load the zip in this mode
every time.
All data is already backed up and saved (IMEI/EFS Backup is done).
I used the Root Explorer for this step.
Now I´m not sure which steps are needed to install either
Gingerbread, ICS or Jelly Bean. Which roms/kernels are compatible?
My final version should be Cyanogenmod Mackay Jelly Bean.
Now I have Froyo 2.2
Does anyone have appropriate info or links that may help me
because the forum search didn´t serve the right infos for me.

Hey
You first need to have official gingerbread (provided by samsung) bootloaders as some roms need these..
You can follow the update and root guide below..(Works for the Internation Version Only!! Model No: GT-I9000)
After succesfull booting flash the macky rom with the given instructions in his thread..
Done..
