"Skyfire is a free, downloadable mobile browser that delivers rich web media, real fast."
You cant use it without an account, as far as I know.
No u cant. it wont let u access much of anything
I can confirm that it doesn't work either unless you're already registered and accepted into the beta team of skyfire. It's pretty much a waste of space too bad, i would have really liked to see this puppy in action.
I have been using it and I really like it. It is very fast, even for me in a non 3G environment. The user interface is simple. the only real issue I have is the book marks. I cannot figure out how to delete bookmarks you don't want any more! there is very little in the way of tweaks. I wrote a review with a ton of screen shots here: http://tiltsite.com/2008/03/skyfire-my-initial-impression/

No, it's not Java based.
It is pretty quick and looks great, but seems kind of sluggish on my device when viewing videos, which makes it in my opinion no better then opera mini if not able to watch videos smoothly. Anyone else had this problem? Damn HTC, they really need to get their act together and fix graphics acceleration on these devices!
Is there no way to activate this?
I tried the cab but it doesn't work.
Must say Skyfire looks for very promising.
what is its benefits??
It's looking good, only check this
Only available in the US.
Hi Ron,
Thank you for your interest in Skyfire, we do have plans to introduce our product internationally. It’s just going to take us a little time to get there and we ask for your patience.
Here's an update on where we are with the beta:
On February 8th, we began to release the Skyfire beta 0.5 on Windows Mobile phones in the U.S. To give you a sense of our product roadmap, after Windows Mobile, we will support the Symbian platform in the U.S. – starting with Nokia N-Series and E-series phones. It will take us several months before we support both Windows and Symbian phones in the U.S. In that same timeframe, we will be rolling out support for Skyfire in Europe and Asia.
As soon as we support your phone in your region, we will notify you by email. In the meantime, to stay up to date about what’s happening here, you can read our blog. You can also refer to our FAQ.
The Skyfire Team
I signed up on the Skyfire website back in January and haven't received an email.
I forgot when I signed up for the beta but i finally got the email last week. Skyfire is still missing a lot of features. True it does load a lot faster than anthing else I've had on Edge Network.
Some of the most obvious feature missing is the Tabbed Browsing capability. You can only be at one website at a time and although it streams mp3s off the website almost flawlessly, Videos play almost as if it were just GIF images (sometimes & depending on the speed it will play a little bit better) well I do have to take into consideration that I have a tilt
Even though it has its advantages I still find that Opera Browser is still better than skyfire so far. Maybe in their official releases they will include a lot more features
Still waiting for my invite...
I emailed Skyfire to check on the status of my invite and got this :
Thanks for your enthusiasm and interest in Skyfire. We cannot specifically tell you when you will be receiving your beta invitation. You are registered in phase 1 of the beta and we will notify you by email and by SMS as soon as there is room for you in the beta program. Please ensure that when you signed up for the beta you entered the mobile phone number you want to download Skyfire on. We need that mobile phone number to notify you when it’s your turn to download. Rest assured, no one in beta 2 will receive their invitation to download until all beta 1 users have been invited into the program.
As reminder, first we are supporting Windows Mobile phones in the U.S. After Windows Mobile, we will support the Symbian platform in the U.S. – starting with Nokia N-Series and E-series phones. This could take a couple of months as we continue development and testing. For all you Blackberry, Palm and Linux users, we hear you, but know the wait will be longer. For our friends in Europe, Asia and around the world, we are working as hard as we can to roll out the service internationally. We ask for just a little patience. We are a small team after all.
To stay up to date about what’s happening here, you can read our blog. You can also refer to our FAQ.
Thanks,
The Skyfire Team
So I'm verified by them to be in 'Beta 1' ...but still no luck yet....
I also signed up but have not recieved an email. I tried logging into the skyfire website and it says that my email isn't even in there? WTF skyfire?
I have been using sky fire for s few weeks now. it is very nice. my favorite part is i can stream audio and video over the media net and not have to use the ATT isp (where i cant get MMS and email) so i am very happy with it. it is ok fast and easy to use.

I had this same e-mail, but finally got my text last week. I will agree that it definitely loads up very quick over wifi, haven't tried it on edge because I cancelled my unlimited plan b/c ATT charges an arm and a leg. Like others I have no problem streaming mp3's or videos, but it just isn't smooth when watching videos, someone was exactly right a couple posts up when they said it was like watching a gif. It only runs a few frames a second for me, on youtube, nhl.com, gametrailers.com, etc. Imo, opera mini still takes the cake. I think once (if) the video driver business gets straightened out and v1.0 is released from skyfire, this will be a great browser.
my understanding is that Skyfire renders the page on the server and streams that to the client in a compressed format. It's the same as Opera and that is how they circumvent Flash video issues.
Honestly, I'm not that impressed with Skyfire, but I don't live on my phone. I usually am just checking the weather and email.

Depends on your opinion of "slightly." If you get a high number of unknown calls its geared towards you. If it's not for you, by no means are you forced to buy. If you want to give it a try, please do. Simply uninstall at the end of your trial if you are not happy with it.
hmm

How is this program useful it displays the caller name after the call is picked up or missed. It would be alot better to me if the caller name was available to me sooner... Just my opinion
Lol. Got Em!!

LOL exactly what I was thinking. Wouldn't you need the caller name to appear when they're calling you? What's the point if not lol.
Kraize
My guess is that it wouldn't be able to give that information as it probably searches an internet database and it can't get a data connection while the voice connection is going through. I guess it would work if the user was using a 3G phone on a 3G network where they could access voice and data simulatenously.
actually if you read it DOES do it at the time the phone rings. It's only certain devices that it is not able to do such. Kaiser is one of the devices that CAN
I hope everyone had a great weekend. The Kaiser is one of the devices that does realtime calling name delivery. As stated on our site, Windows Mobile 3g devices are able to do realtime delivery. Blackberry and non-3g devices will receive the data post-call.
I relize just today, without warning, no email, nothing at allo from skype, that i can't buy itailan skype in on line number.
Microsoft Really Sucks, i will put out my ass from them asap.
Business is not possible anymore.
Just a suggestion: if u use a skype manager for your business...delete it, change platform, microsoft will riun everithink whitin only a year
Regards
Did it work before the company was bought by Microsoft?
I love the hacked version with video call
Everything is region locked with MS. You can't use Mexican XBox live point cards in the US either. PBX + SIP + Google Voice is awesome though.
Well, Viber is great for Android or iOS
skype has sucked for a long time. i think they have an issue attracting good talent. their customer service is nonexistent. just look at their official android forum - it's filled with people complaining about the crappy app.
now its gonna really suck with Microsoft owning it
Does the hacked skype work with Atrix 4G?
on win 7 ulti or android skype suckz.
Skype was the redheaded step child when I worked at eBay. Everyone hated them because we were forced to use their program and buying them out cost the company a lot of money. That said, I thought they got a lot better once they got out from eBay's management.

Hi guys,
Opera representatives have got in touch with us and offered to distribute our apps through the Opera Store. They told that they have lots of traffic in India and Brazil, and we don't have too many Google Play downloads there. Besides, they have these contracts with cell network carriers so users can pay with SMS or something instead of using a credit card. So maybe it's a whole new market for our apps.
However, no one is sure that it is worth the effort. We will have to localize the apps and all of the assets. Maybe tons of new users will make our servers crash and will not bring any money to increase the capacity in return.
So has anyone had any experience with Opera Store? You could help us a ton!
Hello guys,
I am really interested to know your concern using website chat app. Which chat app do you use usually? I know ChatWing is good so far. Is this really? Do you have any other options if yes, which?
Please let me know. Thanks!
Yeah, I mean chat support.
hey guys i will give a quick update about my experience using Chatwing so far.
1. most important, my users are very satisifed with it.
2. it has been working really smooth and feels great to have a cloud chat and not rely on servers and hosting anymore.
3. the Chatwing android and iOS app have been a greta way for myself and moderators to keep control of the chat and get alerts when their is new activity.
4. my users also use the chatwing apps so they can stay connected to my website chats.
5. the chat has helped increase the number of visitors and also the amount of time they spend on my website.
6. as far as pricing chatwing is by far the best value on the web, i pay $11.20 per month for unlimited usage in my chat, on other chat services they limit usage for say 250 users will cost you $50 per month. Chatwing also has a free version that let's you have unlimited usage too which is really nice just lacks a couple features i wanted like uploading my logo and hiding the chatwing name.
conclusion, give Chatwing a try if your looking for a chat room to put on your website it's perfect.
