Feel free to talk about whatever in here. I'll typically share my music, or music I like, or just anything random! And other users can share whatever they'd like as well, as long as discuss just about anything! Usually there is more development-related talk, versus off-topic stuff, so it isn't anything a mod will need to intervene with.
Anyways.. Enjoy!

Yeah. As soon as I get home from lunch with my friend (not important but oh well), I'll upload to something more reliable.
Because I obsess about download count, I will typically advise against mirrors, but for now... I'll allow them.
When I get home, I'll most likely redirect downloads to like, mbqonxda.net/hlcm or something. That way, no more problems will be experienced.
Sorry about that fellas!

[MOD]viperMOD for Nexus S and Nexus S 4G - v3 beta RC2.4 |Updated 6.14.11|

Hey everyone, welcome to viperMOD for the EVO, Incredible, Nexus One, Desire GSM, Thunderbolt, Nexus S, Nexus S 4G, Desire HD, and Inspire 4G. Many people are having great success with this mod and I hope you enjoy my work
I would like to turn this into an app! If someone would like to help out that has Java knowledge, please contact me!
What does this do?
Kernel developers make their kernels to be "universal". By universal, they want the kernel to work on as many phones as possible so they may only mildly undervolt. However, some phones can handle a more aggressive undervolt. Some can't. viperMOD allows you to undervolt to your choosing for better battery life or allow you to overvolt to make your phone more stable.
How do I run this?
Once you flash the .zip go into your Terminal app (I use Android Terminal Emulator set to 10pt font) and type:
su
vipermod
I really only use Terminal for my mod and there is something really cool you can do with Android Terminal Emulator (and maybe others). Menu > Preferences > Initial Command > Press Enter and type su > Press Enter again and type vipermod
Every time you start Terminal now, it will open right into viperMOD. You can quickly exit by pressing Enter if you need to use Terminal for something else

It should be pretty easy. We don't have havs so you only need to echo one value for each clock speed and the voltages should be in sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/UV_mV_table

Yeah, I read that in netarchy's thread. It's neat how you guys can go in increments of 5mv, usually it's 25mv. I'm going to try to get 2 ways of undervolting done tonight. I will definitly be able to code in lowering by increments, but it might take a little bit longer before I can code it to allow users to input the values they want. It's also a little bit more challenging when you don't have the device
This looks very very interesting, looking forward to see where this goes
Ok guys, quick update. I'm still finishing up some things. With some MAJOR help from Netarchy, I redesigned this script. I'll post more details when I release. I hope to get this out in the next hour or so, but if not, should be out by tomorrow. Sorry for the delay!

Well, they are. However, some phones can run lower voltages than what is in the kernels. This is to make it easier for the user to do so without having to compile their own kernel.
OP updated! This has not been tested on an NS or an NS4G but it should work. Please post your feedback in here!
Also, as I stated on my site, right now you cannot save the voltages to an init.d file. This is due to a change in the sysfs syntax used in this kernel. I will have this fixed in the next build or two. For now, you will need to adjust your voltages after a reboot.
Enjoy
Sorry for my ignorance.
I can't get an idea that how is this different from Netarchy kernel UV function?

Long story short - undervolting is built into the kernel. viperMOD allows you to adjust voltages (undervolt or overvolt) to your liking. Normally, you'd have to compile your own kernel to do that, but with the vdd interface in Netarchy's kernel, the user can change these settings on the fly.

[ROM][BETA][3G ONLY] Magnolia Tab 1.1 BETA [Rooted Stock w/ Tweaks]

This Beta is CLOSED. I have a tweaked stock rom up in this forum, so please see that if you want to try it out. I will be releasing an RC 1 of this ROM, with theming and more mods within a week or so. Thanks.
Steve
Hello all. I'm back, and together with Task 650, have created a nice little ROM that I would like to ask up to 10 people to beta test for me over the next few days or however long it takes to make it as solid as can be. In the interests of full disclosure, yes, I am the guy who made his first Samsung ROM and bricked a few users' devices...please see that thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22760426&postcount=115) for an explanation of what went wrong, and why it won't happen again.
Here is a screenshot of the new, non-bricking, beta ROM running on my Galaxy Tab 7.7:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Anyway, right now, this is basically a stock ROM that I put together based on P6800ZSLA2 TGY (Hong Kong), along with Task 650's help/advice/tweaks, with these features:
1. Deodexed,
2. Zipaligned,
3. Stock kernel,
4. Init.d support (ALL CREDIT to TASK 650 for his scripts, this is some bad-ass work);
5. Zipalign, sqlite optimization scripts (thanks to Task for suggesting these as good scripts for the tab, and to their authors for the scripts themselves. I will be adding some scripts I like as I test them out and see how they translate to this device),
6. Busybox run parts (thanks to Task 650 for providing these),
6. build.prop tweaks for improved wifi, screen responsiveness, keeping home app in memory, higher camera/video quality, etc. (credit to Task 650 for these),
7. stock theme/minimal recoding extended powermenu (thanks eznow for the example),
8. Optimized pngs and smali-based tweaks for a smoother stock launcher experience (more to come...),
8. I think that's it...
[Coming Soon
1. Hidden screenshot/quicklaunch button (optional);
2. Theming for samsung widgets;
3. More (hopefully including working hidebar app)...
I plan to use this ROM as the base for future ROMS, and after beta testing, anyone can use it as a base for their own ROMs, provided they give me credit and ask Task to use his tweaks and give him credit for them (or remove the tweaks altogether). My future ROMs will have lots of customizations that I am already itching for, from smali-based tweaks, like getting rid of the screenshot button (why the hell is it right there? ) multi-tweak apps like they have for HTC devices, and hiding the taskbar (the hidebar app doesn't work on this tablet) to theming, which, if you google my HTC ROMs (esp. Incredible 1 & 2 Magnolia ROMs) on XDA, I am heavily into...
Anyway, I am glad to have a new start, and hope to be a major contributor over here in Sammy land...
If you wish to become a beta tester, please PM me, and I will provide you with a link. Clearly this testing is not for the faint of heart or people with no knowledge or experience with flashing and using custom ROMs...while I am extremely confident that the ROM is safe as hell, I just want potential testers to be aware that there is always some risk involved in flshing any ROM, and especially a beta like this
Thanks, and I hope this works out for all...
Steve

Oh, and there is french on this, as I said above, it has all major languages (dont Francaise), you select whatever you want at the first screen of setup...it's just set to english by default.

Steve, are we going to have more fee ram at all from this new custom ROM you are doing for us? I ask because I can't really have multitasking with this 7.7 unlike my Note which is running so much better than this HC stuff. My dolphin browser half the time will have to reload if I went back to home and accessed another app. Will wait for your kind answers and I'm not smart enough to be any beta tester.

Yes. I plan to have scripts in place that will increase available ram. Right now, i just want to get to the point where we know the build is stable, through testing, then I'll start to tweak more.
I will say that I experience no lag on the current. Build, running my usual email, browser, music, market, etc. I generally use ADW EX, but am using stock home while testing., and it is smooth...

Q: I've always been a fan of removing the notification bars in any OS, so that
animated, or static backgrounds would fill the whole scree to the last pixel.
On the 3,7" HTC HD1 it was such a major improvement that people would

Just hoping more people than just me like transparency themes and hiding notification bar to "enlarge" screen.

This rom is a very interesting option, you can "set" any app to have an individual appearance tablet / smartphone, this is phenomenal (I love it!).
Of course, I included my installation aroma, with applications black and some other options (the same as AOKP).
Personal, remembering that my focus is the segment AOKP original, then things can go wrong, I have not tested for a long time, and will not give much support to this, but I'm sure the majority is working perfectly
I can not stop thanking these guys:
Spleef;
T3bill;
ATRIXXIRTA;
D4rKn3sSyS;
Paranoid Team;
hear everything these guys say, are behind all this too, always helping me with what I need!
I am grateful to all of them, are always where you need them ....

ps: USB icon is faulty, (talk), no big deal, only a visual error
PS: that was authorized by dev "D4rKn3sSyS", congratulations to him, and the whole team paranoid, did a great job in search of the perfect appearance of the apps.

That's a SII rom, why posting it here ? If it's not ported, it's not development.
looks very useful, can you add (or port) this feature to your AOKP?
Nice, will test this out!

Spleef i have been a huge fan of your builds can you still make a separate release of yours and/or merge some code with leo instead of forsaking it all together?
That was quick!!
Sleef and Leo much thanks!! That was some rather prompt work. Will give a whirl and provide feedback
spleef, how are you friend?
how do I know you know well about the store, you can fix it for me? and also the ADB does not work yet ... lol, this is reminding me of my first AOKP ...
I'm running out of upload if you can help me with this, save me a great time ...

I flashed Spleef's version last night and most things seemd to work great.
I have my sim card in another phone so I cant test cell, and data connectivity, but wifi and UI are good.
I noticed that the rom was never going into deep sleep.
I tried flashed the bluesleepfix.zip that usually seems to help with this, and I kept getting System UI force closes.
Im gonna flash leo's and see if there is any noticeable change, mainly with the ability for the rom to "Deep Sleep"
But awesome work guys!
Make me love my atrix more and more!!

---------- Post added at 02:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------
Here are some tips and tricks ive figure out on this rom.
1: Stay away from "Global Density" "Default SystemUI DPI" and "Default SystemUI DPI" settings in "paranoid settings"
Messing with these settings caused some systemUI force closes that caused my notification bar to disappear and the only way to get it back was to do a full wipe and re-install. Now to be fair this only happened to me with Spleef's build, and I have yet to test these settings in Leo's build, but I find them pointless, as I will explain.
2: Any change to the UI you want to make can be made easily through the "list apps" setting. Just navigate to the "settings" apk and make the LAYOUT "Tablet." Set the Dpi to 190, and it fits perfect. Any app the you want to be "tablet" moded can done this way as well.
3: Enable "tablet" LAYOUT for nova launcher. Set the DPI to 220. Navigate to "Nova Settins." Go to Destop/Width Margin and set to none. Same with Height Margin. Now go to "Dock" and change the "Width Margin" to none as well.
Now we are able to use all the space on the screen instead of it all being squished together, and you will get the neat tablet "3d blue cube" effect when changing home screens.
Hope this helps, and anything else I figure out ill post.
Good job guys!

New Command decision
I have locked the current zip in our beta... it's still in testing right now. Command decision - when 10.0 (or whatever the next version is) comes out I'll put it public.
All beta testers on the list and those who already have flashed this zip - I will be sending OTA updates of the new betas until the official release.
(Coming Soon!) *Truly Stable, Fast & Buttery Smooth*
Not yet released, but stable fast and smooth?
I am going to remain skeptical until it is released. The beta versions sound just like every other 4.2.2 rom available.

So far the ROM is pretty smooth and data is pretty nice no data drops .the only bug I found was that the music player works but it doesn't continues playing the the album it says that its playing but no sound .I have to manually select and play the song to play...oh and I am using headphones. But overall its pretty good so as battery

Good job guys! I really much like the smoothness and stability. But I realized two things that are in my interest.
I own the XT925.
1.) I noticed that with every slim build my phone never connects to 4G network. This was available with the vendor rom. I checked the settings and they are correct (network mode: LTE/GSM/WCDMA and Only 2G is diabled).
2.) The rom isn't build with bluetooth LE (low evergy). Is there reason for this?
thanks in advance.
I found another bug, auto rotate doesn't work . not even on nova laucher or apps

So I take it that the Stable Preview 1 release is not ready yet? WIP means work in progress? I'm glad they're fixing the volume issues, it's been driving me crazy. I'm excited that this build is going final so quickly. Great job devs!
just for the record due that darkspadez is currently moving

Yes, i can confirm this bug.
Edit. Already tried to enable and disable Airplane Mode, and reboot, but doesn't work.
Edit. Today, out from nowhere, the signal bars it's strangely working. But seems i can't connect to Play Store. I guess it's going on a problem actually in failed connections to Google Services, because i can't neither login to my account in browser as well.
Try to remove Google account and add again... Or maybe reflash gapps. Which gapps did you flash?
I have been on the latest slimrom official release for 1 day now.
So far no problems what so ever. Best rom i have tried so far! Much better than stock and (at least so far) just as stabile.

I'm using the gapps from SlimRom site, the AIO version. Is this one that you flashed?
Now, actually, i guess the problem disappeared. I connected to Google Play this morning and everything looks normal, but i feel something is wrong with the signal, idk.
I just tried loading YouTube and it force closed. After that the play store did the same thing and I had to reset the phone. After a reboot it is working fine again.

Yup, I also use AIO. I don't it matter but I have only installed a few apps via AIO because I prefer to have them from playstore (non-system apps). As non-system apps I can easier greenify them.
If something seems wrong with the signal maybe you can try to play with *#*#4636#*#* in phoneapp. Here you can try different network settings (e.g. mine is set at WCDMA only). This should not be necessary though but cannot hurt and easy to change back.
I an stille very impressed by the SLimROM build 1! I was also impressed by the betas but they sometimes stuttered for 1-2 sek this problem is gone now rendering slimrom pretty much the perfect ROM for my use.
