[Q] 64gb sd card on Xperia Z?

Will a 64gb class 10 sd card work on my Xperia Z? because it says it will only support up to 32gb tried a 64gb on my Xperia V it works well even if it only supports up to 32gb but not mine still planning to buy if it works... anyone tried a 64gb yet? :/

Mine is 64 gb class10 SanDisk and out works fine.

When I inserted my 64GB microSD (Sandisk) that was in my S3 4G into my XZ it didn't see it as being formatted. The XZ prompted me to format it, so I did.
Total space is 59.45GB
Available space is 54.75GB

They are quite cheap, you can get them for like 50$ or something, though I wouldn't advice on buying from ebay.

64GB SD cards will work on any Android phone as long as it is in the FAT32 format.

there is a way to convert them to exFat

64 th works on xperia z if it is in fat32

I have a SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC 64GB installed to my new smartphone Sony XperiaZ. The problem is while I want to see the files (videos and photos) of my Xperia Z via my PC (USB connection) some files are not appear. On the contrary, the files are visible when the micro SD in on the phone and also visible to the PC when I insert the card to my PC with an adapter. Do you have any idea why I have partial access to the files of the micro SD when is on the phone?

I also bought a sandisk micro SDXC 64 GB. a notification of memory card "SD card unexpectedly removed" several time. and the device just freeze when accessing files on sd. card. I'm using now 8 GB till I find how to solve the problem. I already format the sd card to fat 32. and doing it several times. if you find any thing regarding this subject please let me know.

Why dont u try and change it to exFAT instead of FAT 32? Check the method posted in GENEREAL section.

I spoke with Sandisk explaining the issue and they told me to send it back and they will send me a new mini sd because this issue should not happen...I will let you know what will happen with the new but is highly unlikely that I will solve my problem...

Hi Guys,
Do you guys able to write to exFat formatted 64GB MicroSD card from Windows7/8? I mounted the card from XZ as a storage and I can see the content of the card but not able to perform any write operations.
Any advise?

I have a rather funny problem tho is that when I copy videos on the card, it wont play on my XZ the first time I insert the card, so I put it back in the card reader in the laptop, played every videos from start, and skip to the last minute, still plays, so no problem with sdcard, that 8gb videos, put back in to phone, and the videos now all plays perfect, wonder why that is.... this is with the 64gb sdxc
also when it doesnt play the video the phone loses the card then mount it back on again, gonna try exFat and see how that goes
result: no problem so far... copied all the backed up from old sdcard on t it, have album on screen while copying and everything pops up very quickly, all videos play perfect, all images perfect, 8gb on it so far, would take a while to fill the card

i bought a samsung 64gb with 70mbps read speed. The newest apparently... not sure if i feel for some marketing trick but whenever i read from sdcard i have never had any lag...
i recommend if you can afford the $70 - $90 price tag

[Q] What SD card you use? ZR destroys cards

Hey everyone. I started my ZR with an older (don't remember the brand) 8G class 6 memory card. All was fine for 2 weeks.
Then I bought a Kingstone 16G class 10. After 2 days, error message "SD Card unexpectedly removed". The card was dead, no computer could read it anymore.
I went back to the store and changed my card. Another Kingstone 16G class 10. After exactly 2 days, the same error. Card is completely dead. I cannot go back to the store, because they checked the second one and it was working fine.
I am sure the phone somehow destroys the cards. But the first one I used seems to be fine.
My question is: What memory cards do you use? Should I try a card with a different brand, a different capacity or a different class?

I'm now also using SanDisk 32GB UHS-I. Speed is very good and stable. I have 2 dead Kingston SD already so I would avoid them.

I did have a SD has been removed failure once but that i think i restarted and it was ok.

Using a SanDisk Mobile Ultra MicroSD Card 64GB Class 10 UHS 1 (not plugging SanDisk or anything. I just copy pasted from the email confirmation after I ordered it). Been over a month and no issues so far.
I think Kingston has issues. Bought a 16 gb one from them and it packed up in a week. My dealer replaced it and cautioned me never to buy them as though cheap, they're prone to failure. I then bought a SanDisk and have been using them ever since

I use a Samsung 32GB Class 10.
It's great, fast and didn't cost that much at the time. I think it cost me € 31,- at the time.
That was 1,5 years back or so and now there are really cheap.:highfive:
Big capacity and high speed, so you can watch series/movies on your ZR!

I use a Transcend 32GB class 4 and it's working fine without any problems.

Got a SanDisk 64Gb Class 10 UHS. Works extremely well with the ZR. Never had a problem with any SD cards that I've owned till now.

What sdcard are you using now?
Previously I said my Sandisk 32GB class 10 card is fine. But after upgrading to 4.2.2, I was having similar issue as yours. First there was "SD Card removed unexpectedly" message appear. Today my card is not recognized by the phone anymore. Though it's still working fine in PC and other phone.
Similar issues have been reported by users of other Xperia phones as well. Some Xperia L users said the problem is fixed after upgrading their firmware which was released a few days ago.

Using Sandisk 16gb class 10 Ultra HC - 0 problems,fast and stable

Last night I switched to my old Kingston 32GB class 10 because my Sandisk 32GB UHS-I can no longer be recognized by the phone, thought it still works fine in my PC and old phone. So far zero "unexpected removal" has been detected. Interestingly, I bought this Sandisk sdcard a few months back because the Kingston was not working properly in my previous phone (HTC Incredible S).
So this post starts to make sense. Maybe class 10 cards doesn't play well with smartphones after all.

I have a SANDISK Ultra microSDHC Card UHS-I, Class 10, 32GB for Android.
So far I have no problems with it, so I don't know if it's the same SD like you were using @itandy.

I have the same one too man but no problems here I've even been flashing back and forth between firmwares testing out different regions. If you still have the warranty you should try get a replacement.

I doubt it's the problem of my Sandisk card since it's working great in PC and in my old phone. In fact, when I first saw this post my reaction is the same. It must be your sdcard. But now I'm not so sure. I'm very surprised when I Googled about the issue and found many people are having similar issue with different Xperia phones. Specifically the latest Xperia L firmware fixed issue with class 10 sdcard too.

I am planning to buy a Strontium Nitro 566X 64GB MicroSDXC UHS-1 for my Sony xperia sp. However, I have heard that exfat32 might not work with xperia sp. If this is true, can anyone please suggest the exact details of the 64 gb card( like the one stated above) that will work? KINDLY SUGGEST.

Yes, officially it supports 32 GB, but I read it in a number of threads at xda that if bought and Installed correctly, 64 GB also works. I hope anyone who posted one of those threads can help me out on this?

Kingston 64GB Class 10 exFat
Works perfectly fine.

There is no difference between microSDHC and XC cards apart from the capacity, as the pins and interfaces are the same. The key problem is paying the licencing fees and thus some manufacturers can't officially put labels in tech info. You can put 128GB card in the phone and use it the same as would a 16GB one.
Official 4.1.2 and 4.3 firmwares handle exFAT formatted external cards natively and without hickups.

HC (High capacity) - 4-32GB can be formated to exFat.
XC (Extendet high capacity) - 64GB-2TB comes pre-formated to exFat.
Same speed, same card. The only difference is the capacity as UWT said.

Sandisk Class 10, let the phone format it, works a treat.. Got almost 400 albums on mine! Can't work out why they state it only supports 32gb.. 64gb works just fine.

I also need 64gb Memcard just for my MultiRom's... was thinking of getting one but was not sure that whether it works or not. will check on it that if it surely works with XSP then that will be the first thing ill do. of ordering 64gb Mem card

I got the 32 gb samsung sd hc I class 10 and it rocks. Thanks guys for your suggestions.

I use a SanDisk Ultra MicroSDXC 64 Go Class 10, it work PERFECTLY in my SP even if normally it "support only" 32GB .
I just format it in FAT32, because some of root-app (i.e. FolderMount) don't like very much exFAT x)

I'm currently using a 32GB C10 UHS-1 card, basically same spec as the one you mentioned, so it should work.
btw, it's "whether" not "weather" lel

Sandisk Extreme Plus microSDHC 32GB U1 ,thats the perfect for me and i use it for 2 years now in a row.
