If I recall correctly, isnt there like a playstore app mod that makes your phone seem like your phone is in another country so you can have access to that country's specific apps?
It's not looking for your country, it's a device block. The app you're thinking of is Market Enabler, but you still need a Moto X to download the apk

I don't have a Moto X but I tried several apps you talk about before and it never worked quiet right. Even changing my build.prop didn't allow me to download.

Isn't Skip just a Moto-branded NFC tag? If so theoretically any NFC reader would work with it, no? You could use Tasker to do x task when the Skip is read, I would think.
Or try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qnsolv.tag

Tasker lacks any and all NFC handling/interaction.
The NFC App you posted, lacks the ability to effect the lock screen.

I've actually got it to work. Although I'd love to still try the skip app.
I use tasker, NFC task launcher and secure settings. My razr HD is rooted and unlocked and the screen unlock only works reliably with the pattern lock (the pin lock got me unreliable unlocks). I use a Samsung tectile which I stickied to a duck tape loop which fits over my belt.

I want the skip app, too. Just to try it out
Although, from what I've seen in a review video, the app didn't seem to work as reliably as the tasker setup. Even if the screen was supposed to turn on once a tag was tapped, it mostly required you to turn on the screen and then tap the tag.
And honestly, I doubt that the skip app will just work on my razr HD without tweaking the app. I run stock Motorola Android 4.1.2, and for the phones settings I need secure settings app to change the system settings as the regular OS doesn't allow external apps to change the settings. But still, once the app becomes available, I'll give it a shot. Just like you said, it's just one app.

Well, considering how often I unlock my phone over the course of a day, it may not be exciting to just unlock, but it definitevely is convenient. Although I'd love Motorola to support other NFC enabled devices, too.
I can understand that they have this thingy for the Moto X exclusively (I mean it's one of their selling points), but if older phones can do, too, why not support it?

Wanna turn your Screen off while watching videos over HDMI?
Or need a watchful Xoom but don´t want the screen to be on all the time?
Here´s the app you need!
Description:
The App adds the posibility to turn off the lcd backlight to your xoom. Its nothing less then a shutdown-button for your display backlight.
The app toggles your lcd backlight to zero and back, said doesn´t just overlay your screen with black, like the other apps inside the market.
it turns off your screen light completly , but the screen stays responsible and the devices stays awake.
Use it instead of locking your xoom, if you need your device itself to be active but dont need the display to be on, e.g. while you´re watching videos over hdmi, use your xoom as a vnc server or something like that.

Use this awesome little App with some "starter app" of your choice.
For example, use the Shaking Shortcurt App, register ToggleScreenXoom.apk and you could turn your screen on/off with just shaking your device.
(tested on xoom [email protected] but should work on every rooted xoom)
Thanks to [email protected] for his work on this.

Does it work on xoom2? with 3.2.2 rooted?

"Basically" the same as the old method, right. Just in one app without the need of configuration and with more flexibility to be launched by other apps.
Maybe you´ll try "Shaking Shortcurt". A nice app that lets you launch two other apps by shaking your xoom.
Yeah, think I'll try that instead of SwipePad. Since Swipepad rely's on the borders of the screen and Cornerstone alters the borders, I'm guessing that's the issue. Maybe the Shaking app won't have that issue.
Thanks again for the clarification, and the thread. I really can't believe this thread hasn't blown up!

First post is edited to get it straight.
Does this only work on the xoom? I have an acer 510 and I want something like this. It sounds like this gets launched in conjunction with whatever app you launch. I'd rather that while on hdmi the tablet display is off entirely. Or maybe this does that as well.
So is this specific to the xoom?

According to the readme provided in the zip file this application seems to be specific for the Xoom, or at least a few tegra 2 tablets.
That's disappointing. Why would manufacturer's assume that a user wants the display to stay on while using hdmi?! How about a sane default like leave hdmi output on and turn off tablet display after the normal inactivity duration. But allow a keyboard/mouse not to be recognized as tablet activity.
Could this be modified to work with more devices? Or say newer tegra 3 devices if it's chipset specific. But really, ics should have some application layer to control things like hdmi res, screen active etc...
Nice! Works in AOKP
First of all, this is a great app, and it works well in AOKP (build 37).
To trigger the app, I set my "home" softkey on my xoom (in Rom Control) to trigger the app when the key is held. Even though you can't see the softkeys when on hdmi, after a while, its exact location is easy to recall.
It is really convenient. Thanks for the much needed addition to a great device.
Does anyone know the name of the process that monitors acoustic levels and pops up when you turn the volume to max on headphones? On my Razr Maxx it was it's own app and I used Disable Service to stop it from warning me EVERY time.
I use a Tasker app to set volume to max in my car when streaming to bluetooth and on KitKat it only goes to about 75% volume, and I have to manually slide it up to max and press OK for it to actually change.
I can see it on my Droid Razr Maxx on JB 4.1.2 as a standalone app (can't disable from regular settings menu) but I could disable the service that monitored it. I'm guessing it's integrated into Android System or System UI now and I haven't taken the time to look at every single service in there to see which it is. Just curious if anyone else has found it yet, or another way to stop it from interfering with my desire to listen to satanic music at obscene volumes.
Thanks!
Do you reboot frequently? Because I only get that prompt once, and then it never comes up again until I reboot the phone.

I use one profile to detect if I'm in the car or not. It checks if I'm connected to my bluetooth device in the car and sets a variable %INTHECAR to yes.
The actual Pandora task runs if %INTHECAR is yes and the time is between 9am and 6am (I listen to a local morning radio show on my drive to work instead of Pandora, so don't launch if it the morning show is on).
The actions for the Pandora task are:
Load App - Pandora
Wait - 5 seconds (this accounts for Android trying to reset Pandora to the previous volume you listened at)
Media Volume - 15
When bluetooth disconnects, %INTHECAR is set to no, and there is an exit task that will kill Pandora and revert some settings:
Media Volume - 0
Taskkill - Method: Extreme - Pandora
Go Home - Page 0 -- IF %SCREEN ~ off
I use the Taskkill app which adds kill support to Tasker. The built in option doesn't work anymore since like Android 4.1 or 4.2.
I have other profiles that run off of the %INTHECAR variable (auto SMS reply is one), which is why I have it set out on two different profiles.
I'd be happy to answer any questions that anyone has.

I rooted with SlapMyMoto 0.5c and have 4.4, with Xposed and Gravity Box and it works fine. You do need to disable write protection for Xposed to work properly, though.
Another question about Gravity Box.. How does it impact battery life? It seems like the stuff it does (battery look/feel, additional context in menus, etc) are stuff that's already there, but "hidden". With it, I've already been able to remove two existing apps from my phone, one I used for torch and another I used for a reboot button. I also turned on the network traffic monitor in the statusbar.
I assume since so many people use it that it must not take too much battery, but who knows.

I've noticed no increased battery use. But then I'm also not turning on features that require additional power. When KitKat was introduced someone at Google was quoted in a press release who said the network activity indicators in the status bar consumed a "surprising" amount of resources. If that's true, then I should think turning them back on would entail a bit of a battery hit.

My bad, correction it should work without google now activated. I just tested it out. 3 words of advice:
1. Launcher has nothing to do with that bro lol
2. [[USING VOICE COMMANDS]] when voice training, your room needs to be like dead silent, enunciate but talk normally.
3. When voice training comes up, do 2 from arms length and one up close. That gets it for me every time.
***EDIT
just realized you said homescreen was grayed out, you should be using the homescreen button. moto voiceless controls should work with the phone completely locked and asleep.
Let me know how that goes.

Stock Music app sometimes comes up when I connect my phone to the car via Bluetooth, and there wasn't any easy way to disable it
I also recommend going to Filter, typing ATT, and disabled all that crap too - I've done everything except Knox, Remote Support, and Usage manager.... someone needs to come up with a safe list of apps to disable to debloat this device, it would be very helpful!

Honestly, and I appreciate you looking to me for advice, I don't think I'm the best one to go off of, I know that nothing I've disabled was going to crash my phone, but it's all that TW / Samsung / ATT features like I was saying - the program allows you to filter by text used, even if in the middle of a package name, and that helped a few times tracking down some odd APKs
I read on Forbes that the S6 has 56 apps of bloatware on it, and I'm at 55 disabled apps, with a lot of TW / Samsung / ATT features still running, so most likely that was a list of what they could see from the app drawer or something....
Nothing from me. Just wanted to see if people actually tried it. If it worked then go thank the dev or programmer of that debloating app.

Request: Would be nice to have a widget or option to enable or disable the app lock feature. When im home i dont want it on. When im at work i do. Right now i have to uncheck all the boxes one at a time. A toggle to turn on and off the ability without losing ur app selections would be nice.

@mianharisali
Might I suggest an alternative suggestion? Whitelist WiFi BSSIDs, so app knows when it's at home, therefore doing things automatically.
Does the pro version only included no ads??
App is really good! Just gotten the paid version to support you! Prevent friends and family from assessing my data!
Request: would be nice to be able to lock apps without having to have a security feature enabled on the device. I just like swipe to unlock but would like to protect some apps
Same here, I don't use a lock screen but would like to lock apps.
Thank you for your efforts, but may we find a way to lock app by fingerprint without passing lock screen fingerprint register?

fingerprint api does not work if you have not registered the fingerprint in nexus imprint , so at this time it is not possible.
but if google allow this in future , i'll definitely implement this feature.

No. Because that takes away options. What if I'm having a party at home and give my phone to a friend to check out a funny pic or leave it on and open with Spotify playing to my audio system and people can chose a song. I'd rather then turn the feature on at home so people don't snoop.
It shouldnt be location based... It should require positive user intervention for the sake of most flexibility.
And to make sure someone else doesn't turn off the feature themselves, when the widget is pressed to turn app lock on or off, it asks for finger print as verification to make sure it's you that tapped it.
I have some Google Rewards credits, I will use them to purchase as well.
Some feedback. It should be "No Peeking" not "No Peaking".
And after install, the "App Locker: Need Permissions"
"Locker" is spelled as "Locer"
Unless that was intentional for some reason.
I'll give you some more feedback as well.
Sorry to be a "Grammar Nazi", but people don't trust apps if they have spelling mistakes etc.

i am really happy that you found these mistakes. today i'll be fixing that , and some more optimization.
Here is the future plan.
update 1= some performance optimizations. (today or max tomorrow)
update 2=UI improvement + option to add interval between next lock. (and some custom features depending on your feedback ) (this weekend)
update 3=password + pattern locking. (next weekend)
I think what we're missing here, is a false screen of some sort. My girlfriend absolutely hates that I'm friends with some people, and likes to snoop. Instead of blatantly requesting a finger print, maybe add a plain black screen that has a "unfortunately this application has stopped unexpectedly" or what ever the default force close message is, with no visible request for a Finger Print, but the scanner is ready and waiting. There's an app on the market that does this, but I'd feel better paying a developer on xda than a company thats probably data mining my "hidden" apps. Cheers!

Maybe the thing that is missing is a girlfriend that doesn't snoop.
