Phone is AT&T htc one that has not been updated yet and is un-rooted. Ok so i know there was a thread before about this, but there was no real solution. The phone home screens are fine but every app i open even ones that do not normally do so open in landscape mode. Yes i have turned on/off auto rotation, yes i have re-calibrated the g-sensor, have reset it, and lastly tried uninstalling several apps just in case.
*** also now it will not charges and says to use the supported charger when i am using the exact same charger that came with the box. i have had this phone for several months and do not know why this is occurring.
So if anyone could please help me fix it without Factory resetting it i would be very grateful

Hi I tried using the search function but I think it's disabled at the moment. The screen on my friends droid always stops responding. And since it's locked theres no way to use the phone. Restarting the phone / a battery pull doesn't solve it. It just stays non responsive. The screen is still working sort of, I can see the battery charge moving and when texts are received they display at the top. But when I call her phone from mine the screen stays at the lock screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My friend is stressing over this so I'm trying to help her out.
Hi, I am having the same problem. I tried uninstalling some applications from a custom recovery, and even doing a factory reset didn't solve anything. I also tried booting without the SD card, without any luck. Actually I'm thinking about taking it to Motorola to have it repaired or replaced, cause I have no idea left about anything possible to try.
Hello,
have a problem. Since 2 days ago, my Galaxy S works only in landscape mode. The auto rotate button doesn't help.
I have done a factory reset, turn on the phone and it was OK, then I turned my phone off and on again, and the problem was back. I did that a couple of times.
Only phone (dialer) works in portraite mode. Even the home screen is in landscpape (otherwise I think that's not possible).
My phone is not rooted.
Does anyone have any idea?
Have you heard of the free Smart Rotater app in the Play Store?
Might help you out, till you figure the root of your problem.
Just tried it. Didn't help.
I had this problem and couldn't fix. The phone went back in warranty and some hardware has been replaced.
For me the problem started after trying to plug in an USB charger (disconnected from power).
The same here. After USB plug-in.
So, back to the service? Nothing else to do?
Back from service... Works great

I can't figure out what's causing it. I don't have very many apps installed that didn't come with the phone, and any I did install were from the Play Store. I haven't done any modifications such as root to the device.
In order to bring it back to life, I have to either hold the power button down for 30 seconds to shut it down (or take out the battery) and power it back on.
Interestingly, if I have notifications waiting and the LED is flashing, that continues to flash even if the phone won't wake up.
I did 'disable' several of the bloatware apps in the app management area in Settings. I'm starting to think that must be what's causing it. Is there a particular bloatware app that should never be disabled? One that would cause this issue?
Other apps I've installed are things like Netflix, eBay, the app for my bank, and a TV-listings app. Pretty basic stuff. I don't think any of those would be the problem, would they?
Remaining battery doesn't appear to have an effect. It's happened with full battery and somewhat low battery.
'Services' that I use are Exchange push email and Gmail. I also have it Bluetooth synched to my car's hands-free thing.
Any help would be appreciated. Taking my phone out of my pocket to use it just to find that it's not responsive is very troublesome.
Thanks.
EDIT: For clarification, this is an AT&T version of the S4A.

maybe u can enable back all the apps that u have disabled and see if it happens anymore.
u mentioned "the phone won't wake up" and "not responsive". do u mean that the screen stayed off and u are unable to get the screen to be on?

That's right. None of the buttons wake the phone up or turn on the screen. I can tell the phone is still 'on' though. It's not like it got powered off in my pocket.
The advice you've got is sound - if you think it might be because of disabled apps, re-enable them all and see if it keeps happening. If it doesn't... well then you disable them one at a time until it starts happening again.
Then you come back to the forum again and let everyone know which app never to disable.
If it doesn't stop happening after re-enabling all the apps... well then my guess would be a faulty device. Can't think of any other logical reason for it to behave like that. So try the apps first, if that doesn't help, "return to sender".

if enabling back all system apps do not resolve the problem, try disabling all user apps to test. one of your downloaded app may be the cause.
Alright, over the past month I've done a bunch of testing. Here are my results.
1. Re-enabling all the system apps didn't help.
2. I uninstalled all my user apps. Didn't help.
3. I completely reset the phone to stock settings and formatted all storage. That didn't help.
4. I figured maybe it was something with bluetooth since it seemed to happen after I used bluetooth devices. I disabled bluetooth completely. It didn't help.
I'm out of ideas for the moment. Could the phone just be bad? I would wonder why the issue only happens occasionally.
Thanks.

Solved, rom change and ready, do not turn off more
I have the same problem in i9500. I now live in China and have purchased an s2, s3 and now the s4 from China Unicom. I have successfully rooted and flashed new ROMS (latest HK stock firmware) on the S2 and S3. When I bought the s4, it worked fine. I immediately flashed the latest stock HK ROM using Odin 3.07, After flashing, the phone is unresponsive after going into deep sleep meaning that nothing happens when I press the power button. After a long press of the power button, the phone will re-boot. Sometimes I have to pull the battery. Again, this phone is totally stock. I haven't added any applications. I re-flashed the stock China Unicom formware and I took the phone to the Samsung Service facility and they did a new flash. Phone worked great. I take it home, flash the HK ROM with Odin...same results; phone is unresponsive after going into deep sleep. I return to the Samsung service store and they again flash the phone. Phone works fine. What are they doing that I'm not doing? Could the partition table get corrupted during my flash processes. Should I try another version of Odin? Should I try a PIT file and try that? I'm downloading the ROM's from SamMobile. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Edit: I fixed this problem by upgrading to 4.3 which brought it's own set of problems.
Hello,
I recently rooted my Verizon gs6 edge with pingpong and have been noticing a few major issues.
Not sure what to do or if anyone is encountering the same problems but I will list them below:
1) my battery icon will randomly show that it can not charge and an error message will say that I am using am incompatible charger?
Please note that the phone charges ok with the wireless and regular plug in and this message is random. To fix it I just try to do a hard reset or just plug in a charger then sometimes it will get back to normal.
2) randomly the Samsung virtual reality app will force it's self to install. An audio indicating themail install message will get turned on and the worst part is that the screen will go black with the exepcion of a small "x" on the bottom edge of the screen will apear but will not do anything. None of the buttons are responsive, the screen is on but just blacked out. Thus has been occurring quite a few times and occasionally if I wait for a while and keep hitting the home button it will brake free and allow me to go back in to the phone, shortly after the phone will flicker and crash.
Note: I deleted the file and thus far has not happend but that was only 24 hrs ago. Now I am encountering new issue that I will mention below.
3) home screen will freeze. To be more specific the part where you use your thumb to open the phone (if applicable ) will apear, no icons no fonts or messages just the backround home picture. Stuck on that mode. I rebooted and still the same.
I fixed it by plug-in my phone and it imidiatly went away.
I am not an expert on rooting and was wondering if anyone has the same issue. I believe that it is all tied to the battery some how.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

If you boot into safe mode you would quickly find out of an app is causing the issues. If so, use titanium backup to freeze the app. Sounds like you have many strange issues going on.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Free mobile app
The charging issue happens to me every day and I'm stock non rooted. it started happening after about a month of use so I doubt that's a problem from rooting... Number 2 I have no clue and number 3 it happened to me when I tried using a cheap Chinese knock off off of ebay of the clear S view flip cover I had to reset my S6 when it stop bugging out after a few minutes... Hasn't happened since but I have tried using that case either haha
After the update a few issues have risen. I've attempted to search for solutions for each one, with no avail.
These are issues that never happened before the update, and started right on the next day.
1. Audio apps close when locking the screen.
When I have a podcast running (on beyondpod) and I lock the screen from the off button, the app will either keep running, or close.
I have found a few questions like this on here and other forums, but none with a definative answer.
I've done a few of the suggestion, like cleared the cache. But is there an actual solution to this?
2. Bluetooth turns off/loses connection to my pebble 2. I think these might be connected.
While using a bluetooth headset, there are no issues. However I constantly (should) have my pebble connected to my phone. However, very quickly it loses the connection. It randomly finds the connection again randomly, but it wont stay connected for very long. Sometimes I catch my phone with the bluetooth turned off, however turning it back on wont neccessarily connect it to the pebble. I also tested out with IFTT, and everytime the phone cut the bluetooth connection it woul send me a notification. And it happened multipe times within the hour. Sometimes taking tens of minutes to reconnect, sometimes not reconnecting it at all.
3. Google Timeline (the thing that draws a map of where you've been and how you've traveled)
I used this to follow my cycling and walking, since step counters dont recongnize cycling very well or at all. However since the update the pages are all empty. It just wont recognize my movement at all. I later noticed that the location gathering accesses had been reset, but even after giving them access again there is absolutely nothing saved onto my timelines.
Please, if you have any ideas what is doing this, or any ideas how to fix one, or each of these, leave a reply...
If nothing else I'll have to rollback to Marshmallow... And I've really grown to like the split screen!
hi, having same problem as #3 on my brand new Huawei Mate 10 pro. did you ever solve the issue? thanks
