[Q] [HELP] Touch frooze after i've tried to root it (i9000) - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546
And everything seemed OK, but after i've installed the JW4_JW4_JW4.tar and the CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS.tar
i'm able to boot my phone and it comes to the keyboard configuration, but my touch screen doesn't work at all.
Are there any precendents or solutions that i could follow.
Did anyone got this problem before?
Please, i'm kinda desperated, it's my boss phone *
Thanks in advance, Jorge.
----------------------------------------------
Edit:
It's not like i'm lazy, i've tried to flash it with a lot of other ROM's, none of then worked, the touch just seen to be dead, in there something i can do?
Thanks again, Jorge Ferrari.

It is best if you flash unrooted stock ROM and go step by step, first root, then install custom recovery (CWM) and after that your desired ROM.
Look at this guide, I've sent it to several people who even soft-bricked their SGSs and they were successful in reviving them:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44710247#post44710247
Let know if it worked. Good luck!

This would normally happen when you are flashing wrong ROM , meaning, IF phone is i9000B, and you flashed i9000 ROM or phone is i9003 and you flashed i9000, so verify what is your phone model first.

Hey, man- be careful! Can you not make sure which phone model do you have before you flash? Odin is heart surgeon for your phone, you ceirtanly don't want to implement buffalo's heart for an human or so. Flashing wrong ROM can brick your device for good.
Did you not check before starting all this what does it say in "settings" on the bottom end "about device"? Otherwise google about it, some countries have different model variantes of the same phone, also SGS+ is not the same like SGS i9000
Please describe more precisely:
did you do exactly all steps like in the step-by-step guide? It should definitely work then. Maybe you have downloaded Froyo ROM for wrong region, check again.

edit: sorry this may not work as i9001 uses 32 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255T + Qualcomm Adreno 205 and i9000 uses 32 bit Samsung-Intrinsity S5PC110 + PowerVR SGX540
and this method was meant for S5PC110, suggest you download i9001 tech manual to see if mother boards are identical for it to work

well, its a lot better/cheaper than you trying to solve it yourself, the reason for this to happen would be you lost power when flashing or your phone got disconnected when flashing causing bootloader to fail so when you use JTAG, meaning the mother board is connected to JTAG you can fix the bootloader and flash new ROM

If indeed its a hardware problem, than it needs a hardware solution, from what i gather from the above link, he removed the display and it worked, rather strange but indicating it could be due to some display settings that is out of range for the phone to boot.
Most likely only a hardware technician would be able to solve this as it might involve a riffbox and jtag solution.

[Q] Attempting to install ROM from CWM: the progress bar is not progressing

Hi,
I have I9000 device with the stock Anroid 2.2.
I've installed there CWM 2.5.1.0 by fllashing in some SpeedMod kernel which had the CWM built-in.
When trying to install the Supernexus 3.0 ZIP, it reaches to line "Installing update..." and the progress bar is showed but it doesn't progress at all forever.
What can I do? new CWM? how - it was difficult to find a kernel wtih built-in CWM.

First are you sure Supernexus 3.0 is compatible with i9000?
Officially Supported Devices:
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II (i777)
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (jflteatt)
Samsung Galaxy S II (i9100)
Samsung Galaxy S IIG (i9100g)
Samsung Galaxy S III (i9300)
Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9500)
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE (jfltexx)
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 (jfltetmo)
Samsung Galaxy Note (n7000)
Not advisable to jump from 2.2 to 4.3 (you will have efs /IMEI problems with most ROMs) always upgrade progressively so follow this method
after that follow the developers guide of the ROM (meant for i9000) you wish to flash

Yes. I've taken it from here:

I understand from you two that I should do a preogressive update, though I'm not sure which versions to follow. I guess that could be 2.3.6 like in XSENMAN guide, then ICS then the SuperNexus 3.0.
I want to try XSENMAN guide but it is for I9000.
I wasn't accurate enough in my 1st message - I have I9000T.
BTW the 1st link in your guide is refered to the PIT file d/l rather than to Odin SW (but it's easy to find the Odin SW anyway).

First and foremost, the moment you want to Flash, the rule of the thump is you should have a EFS folder backed-up somewhere else ( external SD card or PC or cloud)
The latest ROM for i9000 T is here, choose the one for your region
BUT
if you want to go/upgrade to CM the only way would be to use i9000 ROM with root and CWM as I had given in my earlier post and changing/swap the i9000T modem for your region ,
if your phone is under contract and locked to Network, you may need to unlock before proceeding.

Thanks for mentioning the EFS backup! I'm studying it and will backup it.
Considering my final target is to have SN 3.0 on the phone, I understand the Samsung update ROMs are of no use for me. I have to go through your guide.
As for changing/swap modem and unlocking - is it something I have to do before all the intermediate ROM's I'll install? Or it is better done when I finally have phone installed with the targrt ROM SN 3.0 ?

Modems can be changed at any time, there are ICS and Nexus modems available at My Android Collections, link below but you should note down the current modem details, such that you can return to it, if others don't work too well. Unlocking is more for the SIM card, that you are using , if locked to a particular phone company but you had already rooted it and had no problem, so just go ahead and use the JVU ROM to upgrade and use the CWM to reach your final goal.

most likely you have wrong CWM, look here about it .
i9000 has many versions, so you need to specify which version you have since you used a 2.3.5 ROM, look here for basic guide and here for a rescue kit or the link above for solutions.

most likely you have wrong CWM, look here about it .
i9000 has many versions, so you need to specify which version you have since you used a 2.3.5 ROM, look here for basic guide and here for a rescue kit or the link above for solutions.

as long as you can enter download mode, just flash a rescue kit or the JVU ROM, you will be able to recover, using Odin3 or heimdal

simply means you need to flash it with a kernel or a ROM, depending on what your friend did to it. As is, it will connect to Odin 3, I cannot advise you further as you have not indicated what Model it is, what ROM you used before etc.
Flashing wrong ROM'S and kernels can lead to this, so make sure you get the correct firmware for flashing it.

My samsung is a Galaxy S i9000, and at the moment i'm still searching for a suitable rom for my phone as i use CyanogenMod 10.2 and the home, menu and back button and also the line is not functioning yet.
