You can try BusyBox Installer by the developer JRummy Apps Inc, This one worked for me! Just press install and thats it.
I can't post the link but you can find it on the play store, just search for busybox and its usually the second one.

For those who have the same problem is becose the htc one has no permission for rw in to the system so if u wanna keep the stock kernel u can use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.timos.htconerw
To gain the rw permission and after u can use the busybox installer app in Google play

Thank you so much!
This worked for me on 4.2.2 (Australian phone - Telstra)

Sorry for reviving such an old thread. The above link is for an outdated app (I didn't bother trying it). It could still work.
This was the way I installed to my HTC One M7 International version.
However, here's another option for those of you wanting a fix. Use the "recovery" option in the installer; It'll reboot itself to recovery and flash a .zip of BusyBox. Worked for me. The app is called Busybox On Rails and can be found in the App Store.
I can't post a link, maybe a mod can add one or something...
Cheers

Android market on I9023

Hi all,
About a month ago i bought my nexus s and i am very happy with it.
But i do have a problem. It seems to be stuck on market version 2.3.6 while a new version is available for weeks now.
I want to update it and i have tried everything google advices on their site but with no luck. Since i am not a fan of rooting and installing non official stuff i am kind of stuck.
Does anyone know a way to get the latest version without rooting?
Thnx,
Pele

You don't need to remove the old market, just download the apk and run/install it. Simple.
Thanx everyone, i found and installed the new market app.
But still i am wondering why google didnt push it to my nexus. They are trying to stop fragmentation but arent even distributing their own software properly.

Ad Away not blocking ads on HTC One

Obviously most are aware Google Play have blocked any ad blocking apps but i had an apk. of AdAway from my Galaxy S3 so i installed it on my One but it does not appear to block all ads like it used to even when i manually update it and reboot there's always ads in certain apps, am i using an older version of this apk. or does anyone else have an alternative apk'. of any ad blocking app i could use, or is it something to do with the phone itself?
Cheers
unless you're running a modified kernel with the protection of /system partitions disabled, your host file gets replaced by default every time you reboot.
I've adblock 2.3 and it works fine, i don't have ads in apps
Which version do you have?
And see if you aren't running a custom kernel with /system partition protection disabled.
Have Trickdroid on my phone so I choose stock kernel as it's the most stable i believe, not ready to flash custom kernel yet as development is still in the early stages, running same version as above stated and not sure it blocks any ads, any other way around this without flashing a custom kernel?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
There's a mod that removes the protection from the stock kernel. It's in the development section.

But only on full boot, no problem if you have fast boot enabled... Works fine for me without kernel mod in that basis
Only problem was I needed to install Ad away with titanium backup as it did not show up in the market for some reason

As i mentioned in the OP Google play no longer allow apps like ad away and similar ad blocking apps, ridiculous but what can you do.
I actually don't have fastboot enabled, I'll do that now and try again and report back.

Ok enabling fastboot hasn't made any difference, rebooted and ads are still showing in apps.

Had better luck with adblock plus than adaway, might want to try that instead.
This was one of the first things I installed (all of yesterday, when I got it).
First thing to note is that you don't have to reboot the phone, despite what the app says. Just activate it and go back to Home screen. In fact, a reboot, as noted above, will undo the effects of Ad-away.
I did notice that it seemed to disable itself at one point today, unless my phone rebooted at some point in my pocket without my knowledge, which would be disconcerting.

Do you have an up to date apk. for that mate?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I just checked the "help" information in my AdAway app, it sets out instructions for a workaround for HTC S-on devices i.e. how to move the hosts file to data and put a symlink in system...
Think this answers the question in the OP
Per post 12 you can currently get AdAway here either directly or by installing F-Droid market (alternative to Play store)

Aye you can grab it here:
https://adblockplus.org/downloads/adblockplusandroid-1.1.2.apk
If you're on stock ROM and don't want to use any kernel patch to make your /system partition writable, you can flash this little zip through recovery (e.g. CWM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327934. Does exactly the same as the app (blocking hosts through system's hosts file) but applied via recovery

[Q] supersu and superuser on the same phone

I unlocked my bootloader and installed a custom recovery. Then i intalled the supersu zip file and a custom rom. after that i found supersu and super user on my phone. Is it safe to uninstall one of them?
Yes it's safe to uninstall one of them but if you're not bothered which one you keep then I suggest uninstalling SuperSU.
I say that because I flashed back to a stock ROM a while ago and also flashed the provided rooting tools so that I could keep root access. Once I rebooted to stock, I installed SuperSU from the Play Store and decided to uninstall Superuser as I didn't need both of them on there.
Later that day I found out that I only had partial root access. I could use root apps like ROM Toolbox but I couldn't make any changes to /system.
In the end I reflashed the rooting tools so I could get Superuser back and everything worked perfectly again.
I'm not sure whether it was just a temporary problem with SuperSU or not but as long as you don't mind which you keep, that would be my advice

This happened because you flashed a stock ROM, with a stock kernel, which has write protection enabled.

Haha nor me. See I knew about the write protection on stock kernel right away which is why I figured I'd be fine with faux but it still didn't want to work.
Luckily it all sorted itself out in the end so I'm back using SuperSU again

Folder Mount HTC Butterfly S

Is there anyone who can successfully use Folder Mount on HTC Butterfly S stock ROM version 2.21.708.1 CL288207 (901S)?
I was not able to patch the ext-SD write permission since updating my phone to Android 4.3.
I wonder if it is related to the system write protection on HTC devices. But flashing the Root WP mod doesn't help.
Anyone here got any advice?
Thanks in advance!

I did the same. Even after I mounted read write to system, when I tried to mount folder with folder mount, it kept showing problem fixing external sdcard ownership and the patch simply didn't stay after reboot.
Have u encountered the same thing? It only occurred after I updated to Android 4.3

The problem is that you don't have /system write permissions when applying the patch. Usually, wp_mod, supersu(chainfire) and busybox (from koniik message) should fix the issue. If it doesn't help, I can send you patched file from my phone, so you'll try to replace it manually and see if it solves the extsd permissions. There were such problems with old FolderMount versions.I had spoken with madmack (creator of FolderMount) when the first rom based on android 4.3 was released and he fixed that stuff. As soon as S-Off was available, I applied it not to have such access problems.
I have flashed chainfire supersu and busybox already. I tried the wp mod but nothing happened. I used the same wp mod in Android 4.2.2 before and it worked perfectly in 4.2.2 But not so in 4.3.
May i know what versions of supersu, busybox and wp mod you are using? Thank you ever so much!

I'm not on stock 4.3, so I can't advise you anything. I use maximus11 with busybox flashed from recovery (link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483869 ) and I have an S-Off.
Thanks so much. At last I flashed the Maximus ROM, used koniik busybox, S-off and then mount RW to system using ES Explorer.
Finally able to patch the extsd permission and use folder mount!
Thank you very much indeed!
