Now we know that we cannot put our names on the back of the phone; nor can we upload the images we want and have it color our MOTO X (though the latter part was never the original concept...but should be . What makes you still want to buy MOTO X?
I just got mine this afternoon. After playing with it only for a couple of hours, I can say that once I get used to the touchless control, I will not be able to live without it. Just now I pick up my Nexus 4 and start talking to her with "Ok google now" and saw no response and getting frustrated
Active Notifications.
That is all.
everything about this phone other than its price and camera quality (which hopefully is resolved with an update much like the htc one)
Touchless Controls hands down.

I went to the store to play with the X and I was really impressed by the twisting the wrist motion to launch the camera. It was super easy and I have no idea why the reviewers found it so hard to launch it. I'd say I had a 100% success rate.
The problem, for me at least, is not how to launch the camera...but after launching the camera the quality of the photo is not good.
Personally I the touchless control is the winner for me, but active notifications comes in a very close second.
All are pretty ones!
Can we see it in Europe soon...
1 active notifications, 2 Motorola Connect, 3 touches, 4 fast camera launch, 5 battery

Everything.
other than all tech details, I really like the idea of customizing the phone and making it truely unique
After actually using the phone, active notifications and the battery are great for usage. The motomaker is great when it comes to selling the phone.

The Design. Always liked android but hated these oversized form factors with no regard for one handed usability. Big screen without big phone, finally a decent design!

One of the main reasons I'm detracting from the iPhone universe is that I've had two iPhones whose home button stopped working (both times out of warranty). I will never buy another phone with a hardware home button.
The loose buttons concern me. I wonder if this is a feature of the phone or if reviews just received a bad phone?

I'm a new user so I can't post links, but the following is from Engadget's Moto X review on August 5th.
"The volume rocker and power button, both slivers of painted plastic on the device's right edge, are loosely secured and flimsy. They actually make a slight noise when you jiggle them in their sockets. "
ALSO "Moto X first impressions: priced too high, buttons rattle, exclusives suck" is the title of today's moto x "review" from ZD Net.. I use quotes for the word review, because it's a bunch of tripe really. But, like mediocre quality of the camera, people are noticing the loose buttons..
Is the phone like the new droids? The volume buttons pull out and you input the Sim card there... Don't know if that's how the motoX works... Though I plan to get one when its available on Verizon.

My buttons seem rock solid, I think it may be over exaggerated or an early build. My SIM tray broke however, Motorola sent me a new one overnight today.

Well i went to check out the Moto X at my local AT&T store and the buttons seemed really flimsy. It has just been put out for display because i still reciveed the Android screen welcome screen that tells how you to use. Hope that's not the case, just first batch.
Power button solid but volume button a bit flimsy. Honestly, I didn't notice until I played with both buttons.

Wireless Charging sucks. Its slow. I love how fast the Moto X charges. But seriously, the only bonus is that the Nexus is on 4.4.1 now instead of 4.4 to improve camera which is something Moto X has been dealing.

Really curious on how your moto x gets better battery life. I've got a stock Moto x and it barely makes it through the day. My N5 battery easily lasts me into the wee hours
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I had both, and I sold my Nexus 5 to keep the Moto X. For me, one I couldn't deal with not having active notifications and the flip to camera gesture because I'm a big car guy and snap pics on the road a lot. Also, Verizon is by far the best coverage here. Also I found the Nexus 5 to be too big and awkward in my hand, and its the same software, and I don't find any reason to go CM anymore. Also I find the Nexus screen to look a little faded/washed vs the Moto X. I agree with the other guy that I also get better battery life from my Moto X. For me, the Nexus 5 is only better if you want CM, and prefer the bigger screen.
I currently have an S4. I have the Cyber Monday code but I'm torn between the Moto X and Nexus 5. One one hand, the Moto X brings innovation with customization and active notifications. However, i'm concerned about the smaller screen and even less of a usuable area with the on screen buttons. I love my S4's 5 inch 1080p screen.
What has me leaning towards Nexus 5 is the fact that i'm in the last few months of my Sprint contract. Where I live, the service is pretty damn good but i've been wanting to go back to T-Mobile to be on a GSM carrier and can use unlocked devices when I want. I could use the Nexus 5 on Sprint and just carry it over to T-Mo when my contract is up.
I don't have large hands and the ergonomics of the Moto X is another pro.
For me, it comes down to innovaton, customization, and an all-around solid phone vs Stock Android, fast updates, 1080p display and the ability to take it to my next carrier when i'm done with sprint. Hard to choose. My coupon expires on the 11th.

True. 4.4 killed my battery life. Moto needs to update their WiFi drivers.

Motorola is a much better manufacturer than LG. My nexus 5 had terrible battery life, a terrible speaker with terrible placement, and the design's just not that great. Sold it for my Moto X.
I use my phones regularly and most of the time use Bluetooth streaming while I'm driving in the field. For some reason the nexus 5 drains fast while I'm streaming Bluetooth.

I had the n5 and it had terrible battery life and build quality. Couldnt deal with the battery life, speaker and vibration(couldnt feel it in my pocket or hear it on my desk). However, I do miss the unlocked bootloader, larger screen and wireless charging but realized i need to be more worried about functionality when dropping $350.
I have the att x and purchased the tmobile version to unlock the bootloader. I can deal with the smaller screen and hopefully the qi receiver i purchased works.. so for me, its the moto x all the way.
How important is battery life to you? That was the major deciding factor for me.

My opinion.... I've played with them all, and the Moto x is the most refined phone I've used. Yes, the camera isn't the best out there, but I'm of the opinion that it is a phone, not a camera. Its fine for capturing moments spur of the moment.... But if I know I'm going somewhere and want lots of nice pics..... I use my camera.
Opinions will vary. Greatly. Lol

Battery life is good, unrooted with location services, voice controls all etc turned on I get 1 day+ with 3-4 hours of screen time. I also typically do an hour or two of music or bluetooth too.
Compared to Note3 the camera is not as good in many situations but its good enough to be happy with the pics I take of my kids and whatnot. I have a better digital camera but prefer the phone for convenience. The double wrist flick to launch the camera is genius and I use it often.

No. The S5 still has Samsung's Touchwiz monstrosity and it still looks a bit cheap. The camera does look amazing, I'll give it that. But after having the Moto X running (mostly) stock Android, I can't imagine going back to a skin like Touchwiz.

Are you kidding? It's bigger and uglier than the s4, the stock ROM is supposedly 8gb, there's no innovation, the fingerprint scanner is basically unusable with one handed usage, still uses a pentile screen, new touchwiz looks as bad if not worse than the old one etc.

I would be more tempted to check out a new iPhone than anything Samsung is putting out these days. I just can't stand the look of their phones anymore. I had an S3 and the S5 looks pretty much the same in terms of design. same dumb home button, same obnoxious backlit buttons, same clusterfudge of features that do nothing for me and never will.
Its gonna take a really really great phone to get me to throw away my custom made, beautiful piece of technology.

I've had every Galaxy since the very first one to the GS4 and I wanted to try something different and I am GLAD I did!! Even little things like just holding the phone in your hand it is so well made, and it is FAST!! As far as the camera complaints I DO NOT see what these people are talking about because I think the camera is GREAT!!! Unless you plan on using the camera as a wedding photographer then maybe not, lol. But I highly recommend this phone.

Since the original EVO I have had nothing but the Galaxy line till now. The main thing holding me back from the M7 was the lack of a SD card but the M8 has one so I decided to try it out. First thing I have noticed is the build quality. The M8 feels like a work of art and my S4 (after a few months) was developing bubbles under the glass and the battery case was scratched and worn away in some place. I don't see that happening here but time will tell. The boom sound speakers are also a huge plus. I used to have to cup my hand around the rear speaker on the S4 when showing someone a video. No longer. These speakers sound great and are loud. The camera has also been really fun. I'm not sure what the complaints are all about but the picture quality has been great and dual lens make for some really cool effects. I'm sure down the line there will be some cool camera apps on the market that will even add to the dual lens. The battery life has been great too. Unplug in the morning and plug in at night with plenty of battery life left. I wasn't too impressed with the launcher or Blinkfeed so I just switched to the Google now launcher and it works fine. I'm also looking forward to try out new Roms and the future of development for this phone. As of now I am very happy with the change.

I always thought touchwiz was designed by children. I mean, what company uses those colors and a 'water drop' sound for touch sounds? There are a few features I miss though, like swipe to call/text in contacts and led notification while charging. I'm pretty happy with the m8 though.

Coming from an s3. The s5 was an aesthetic let down, looks like a band-aid. The M8 was a clear choice minutes after their unpacked event.
I had a note 3 which I sold and got the M8. I got a little tired of the huge screen, and could not justify purchasing a smaller version of the same phone. Only thing is I am having a real hard time getting used to the on screen buttons leading to a huge bottom bezel. I am working on getting pie controls and removing the soft keys to see how it works out.
However, having a metal phone is WORLDS better than plastic. I dont use cases on my devices and I just like to pick up the phone to feel it sometimes. Pie controls - soft keys will make this the best phone ever made.

Pretty much this. Had the OG Epic and the GS3. Wanted something different, plus the front speakers and having the charging and headphone jacks on the same end were huge selling points for me. Was leary off the camera, but so far it's great. 4mp is plenty for regular 4x6 prints. Those high mega pixels are really only better if you plan on blowing up pictures to poster size. And I would imagine, that if you were in need of pictures for something like that, you'd want to use an actual camera and not a phone camera of any type....lol
Only complaint I really have are the amount of useless icons in the status bar. What a mess! Hopefully that is something that can be fixed with future software updates. I couldn't care less about the spark icon, and do we really need a constant GPS icon whether it's on or off? Dumb...
