[Q] SD Card issues in Cyanogenmod 10.2 on i9305 - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Apologies if this sounds similar to other issues that have been previously posted but I have not yet been able to solve this issue.
Basically, rooted and flashed cyanogen 10.2 - 26/8/2013 version which is android 4.3 (nightly) and cannot access my SD Card (from reading up on the issue I know that this is caused by android 4.2 onwards i.e. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218 )
I can see the SD card in storage settings and I can access the SD card through the root, I can see all of my music files and I can see images I have stored on it. I cannot access this music from either Apollo or Google Play Music. I can however see my images in my gallery app.
I tried following the directions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218 this thread which require moving everything from the 'sd card' into its actual directory but my file paths do not match up with those in the description.
I have also tried unmounting and remounting the card, also reformatted the card, no dice.
Any help would be appreciated, please answer in retard terms because I am very very new to all of this.
**EDIT** Managed to get the SD card working again, I am able to play .mp3 files but not WMA files. Is there a way around this? I understand that this function was removed in CM V7?

[Q] Internal SD card not being recognized by Gmail

I've had my Captivate for a week now, rooted, tweaked and have it generally where I want it.
I'm having a problem that I discovered this evening. I went to preview a WMV file which I had sent to me this morning. I watched the video without problem this morning. When I went to preview the file again this evening, I click on the preview button on the gmail, and a pop up came up saying, "Fetching Attachment" which is the norm. Then the popup now says, "An SD card is required to download attachments"
I went in and started trying other attachments which I need for work and I get nothing but what I put above. Looks like the internal SD card is not being recognized. I went in and changed the internal from a hidden file to allow the Gmail program to "see" the SD card, ... No go... Still doesn't work.
It seems that there are a couple of people posting the same problem... Any ideas or suggestions???
I now have another app not working because it doesn't see the internal SD Card on my Captivate. Beautiful Widgets cannot funtion because it also needs an SD card............
I can see everything via Droid Explorer and when the phone is mounted as well.........
I need some help here to figure out what's up...........

[Q] Mounting SC Card

Hello all,
I'm new to this forum
I had Darky Rom (android 3.2) and just went to Slim ICS (android 4.0.4), after installing CM 9 nightly build.
But on both ROMs I can't seem to mount the sd card. Sorry if this has been asked before. Am I doing something wrong?
File manager says "this folder is empty" and camera says "mount usb storage before using this camera." but when going to the settings and mounting it. It says "Preparing SD card", but then nothing happens and everything stays gray.
So basically my external sd doesn't get mounted and I can't access it. (also I can't view the files of my internal sd if I'm not wrong?)
In ICS roms EMMC is your external SD card.
Thanks! Found it
Another question:
So this sd card is in another folder now. But what about the apps that access it? They say I have no sd storage now. Like the contacts app of Google, when I want to import my contacts. Or the camera app.. Read somewhere this was a general problem. But how is everyone using this mod then if this doesnt work?
Well a lot of apps have updated so it does work definetly not all though. In some ICS roms like ics333 I can pick where my camera saves to within the camera app (it calls it sd card still but saves to emmc. I would just search with google if you are looking at a fix for it. I know there was some sort of fix for Game Loft apps that I read. I also read there was a mount SD as internal storage type fix. I just haven't needed it. There has to be other fixes but might be rom specific. I haven't used any of these fixes so can't help further with that
Thanks Shooper! I think the issue is different here. For more info I made a new topic about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657623

[Q] tonyp_4 ROM SD card "dissapearing"

So.
I'm currently running tonyps 4. build of cyanogenmod 10.1, with the may 26. nightly of kowalski kernel.
I have all my music stored on my external SD card, appart from one track (My ringtone) that's on the internal SD.
Sometimes apollo won't find any music other than the single track on my internal SD card, and when I open the file browser app, it won't find my external SD card at all.
To find my music again I have to remove my SD card and reinsert it, and sometimes that doesn't work either, and I have to do it several times.
Rebooting the phone doesn't solve the problem.
When this happens, the playlist I've made suddenly become empty, wich is VERY annoying, since it means I have to recreate my playlist every time I go jogging.
Can anyone suggest any way to fix this?
I tried googling the issue, but I can't really find any solutions.
Try out your external SD card on another phone, and if possible, another SD card on this phone to make sure that both your card and card slot are working fine, to eliminate hardware related issue. Or, you could also check in another ROM if you want to confirm that the problem is ROM-related.

4.1.1 does not show pics and music files all of a sudden

Any suggestions... (I've eliminated any problems with FireKat and PopRocks. They are solid)
Running FireKat V20 (4.1.1.) SD card tested and is readable/writeable (128Gb). Pics are in proper DCIM\Camera folder on SD. Music is in Music\ folder on SD. (some players find music but "PlayerPro" and "Sound Picker" do not find music. Cannot change ringtone with Sound Picker or other programs (says unable to change ringtone). The pics will only show in Gallery by displaying through Picasa. These problems also occur even on stock rom before flashing custom rom. Oh, also tried "fix permissions".
I've tried everything I could think of including Odin back to beginning several times. Tried PopRocks rom, no joy. Believe my I've tested and experimented with a lot of stuff but cannot solve the problem.
Any suggestions to help correct finding my pics and music on SDCard would be appreciated.......
Update Pics & Music only on Internal storage
I've determined that pics and music do show up if stored in "Internal" storage.
If I copied all pics & Music to internal storage I can see all.
Is there a way to "move" those files from internal to external storage other than just moving in root explorer??

Click to collapse
are you doing a factory reset/clean flash after odin, if not make sure you do so, and also format your sd card using your device instead of your computer
Yes, factory reset/clean flash wiping everything except SD Card many times to try and find the problem. I'll try wiping and formatting the sd card, I have not done that yet.
Thanks!

[Q] Android 6.0 SD Card Permissions

Hello,
currently I have CM 13 - Android 6.0 on my Phone.
I am using my SD Card apart from my Internal Storage(because the SD Card is slow and I don't want to connect the Card with my internal storage for this reason the apps are lagging like hell if I do this and I buy in the next time maybe a new one but not now)
So far so good, I copied music on my SD Card, but I cannot play it, because of the bad permissions since Lollipop
I flashed an extra ZIP in the Recovery for fixing the permissions, but it helps not if I copy new music to the card, I have to flash the ZIP again if I move new Music for example.
So, what should I do in this situation?
All answers are welcome
Regards.
