yes.

the easiest way to fix this is set back your nandroid backup up (if you made it...).

Wipe cache and dalvik cache then reinstall kernel
..make sure u downloaded stock version
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app

okay,i panicked and i think i made a bigger mistake. in an attempt(that i didn't think would work) i flashed the cyanogenmod 10.1.2 the stable version(jellybean 4.2.2) and it worked. but i don't like it. i wanna go back to the original rom but with a different kernel. any ideas?

There's a few stock based ROMs in the dev section, they should suit your needs without the headache of using a PC when you have CWM. I recommend the one with qslide

[Q] why is cwm recovery not working?

I have installed cwm on my friends phone (galaxy mini) via odin. When i booted into recovery it said he couldn't mount /cache/recovery. So i installed root explorer on his phone and i saw there are no files in that folder! In my phone there is a file... so i was wondering if someone has installed cwm (i believe it was 5.2.7) and knows how to solve this. Maybe i could try using this file of someone else with same recovery.
Long story short: does anybody know a solution or does anybody wants to upload this file?
Sorry for bad english if i made any mistakes

simple way is to download file and usb to phone, the zip file. Do Not unzip it.

Well... first i had tried installed cwm using a normal .zip file. Same problem. Then was when i actually installed via odin. After that i gave up and asked for help here. So i think it isnt the fould of the recovery. So could anyone upload the file in the next location, just to try : /cache/recovery
So i can put the file inside this folder and maybe it will work again.

don't worry error in mounting cache is normal, you can use it safely for installing and wiping
However also in the my stock recovery give a error in the cache partition but to me give the error of unmounting, says unmount(/cache); attempt 1 unknow error=0 rc=0, and later i must and will inform about this error.

Need help with getting ICS on my Black.

Hey. I've been trying to root my Black, running 2.2.2, for the past few days and couldn't get it done. Tried Superoneclick and UnlockRoot, both of them didn't help me. The thing is, I don't really need the root, only ICS. I've heard there's a beta version of 4.0 for Black. Is there any way to flash the ICS stock rom, if there is one, without rooting, and in a successful and safe way?
For rooting 2.2.2, try with Blackjack (google for it or find it here)
For flash ICS ROM
1. Download the kdz file from http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP970/AFRAKW/V30b_00/V30B_00.kdz
2. convert it to .bin and .fls http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692191 (don't patch it with CWM!!!)
3. Flash using Smart Flash Tools http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448803
4. Done
Do with your own risk.
note :
Flashing using SMT will erase all of your data.
If application data on your phone now are important, I suggest you to root your device, then backup your data (I'm using Titanium Backup). You can restore later on ICS.

2. wipe data/factory reset
3. wipe cache
4. advanced >> wipe dalvik cache

What about your CWM version? The latest is 6.0.3.1. Incorrect version results in disasters
Sent from my Optimusx4 using Tapatalk 2
@tomkasz forgot to say i do a complete data wipe before flashing! Didn't clear my dalvik before (thanks for pointing that out mate!) @hernest my current version is 6.0.2.8, so im guessing i need to update my recovery? If so can i just use the clockworkMod app from google play and do it that way?
Am i right in thinking that because im on v20a at the moment that i need to flash a JB ROM? Or can i flash an ICS without having to downgrade via KDZ first?

@tomkasz forgot to say i do a complete data wipe before flashing! Didn't clear my dalvik before (thanks for pointing that out mate!) @hernest my current version is 6.0.2.8, so im guessing i need to update my recovery? If so can i just use the clockworkMod app from google play and do it that way?
Am i right in thinking that because im on v20a at the moment that i need to flash a JB ROM? Or can i flash an ICS without having to downgrade via KDZ first?
Thanks for your help guys!

Your Recovery version is the culprit, then. Just install ROM Manager via Play Store and update your recovery to the latest version. Your life will be much easier in terms of flashing ROM.
To roll back to stock ICS from JB is quite a task and can't be done by simply flashing ICS based ROM. There's a thread on general section dedicated to this topic, you might want to do some research before doing so. Like the previous post said, there are no fully compatible ICS based custom ROM. Anyway, I think this device is much better in JB. Why would you revert back?

How to update ClockworkMod Recovery ?

Dear All,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) device rooted via ODIN as shown here. I am currently on Abyss Kernel and have Ginger Bread v2.3.6. A yellow triangle also pops when the phone is booting up
I have ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.1.5 installed on my phone, but when I got to the recovery mode, volume buttons DOES NOT let me choose anything other than to reboot the phone (which is the first option).
I have downloaded latest ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.1.2, but not sure how to update it.
I have tried updating through ROM Manager, but sadly it does not lists my device out there.
You will need to upgrade to a newer version of Android first. Then you can get a custom kernel which will have newest version of clockworkmod

Thanks for the suggestion. I had earlier tried upgrading from Samsung updates, but I guess it is not possible after rooting the phone. I am looking for other options now.
Please suggest me some, any links will help me out.

Many Thanks again. I really appreciate all your help.
Just a last question before I begin downloading the ROM. My device has below baseband version and build number.
Code:
[B]Baseband version[/B] : N7000DDLC1
[B]Build number [/B]: GINGERBREAD.DDLC1
Can I download below Stock JB ROM ? I guess this will unroot my phone (not bothered, just asking).
N7000DDLSC N7000ODDLSC - India
I hope the yellow triangle which I get while booting up (after rooting) will not matter. Right ?
Thanks a million in advance. It is because of people like you, that we get our life back.
You can install any version of jb you like, but it's worth sticking to your region. You will lose root, but can flash phillz kernel through stock recovery to regain, very simply. yellow triangle doesn't matter until you need to claim warranty. To remove, run triangleaway app from play store.

Hello,
This post says that if I am using Gingerbread ROM, I need to "First wipe cache and data", but my volume buttons DOES NOT (my buttons are working well otherwise) let me choose anything other than to reboot the phone (which is the first option). I was trying to follow this video.
Alternatively, can I do a factory reset as below, also shown here as Method 1.
Code:
[LIST=1]
[*]From the homescreen press the 'Menu' button.
[*]Press 'Settings'.
[*]Scroll down and tap 'Privacy'.
[*]Press 'Factory Data Reset'.
[/LIST]

you can use ADB for wiping data.
There is no need to wipe data now. Just go ahead and update.
