Earlier today I changed my s-on to s-off, ever since this moment I have not been able to call people properly. Everything else on my phone works fine can receive and send SMS, data through apps and on browsers works. But my contact are saying that at times my line is very crackely, and always quiet, sometimes it does not work at all but for the most part is very very quiet, even when I am carrying 3G signal.
I have rooted my HTC One and am using CyanogenMod 10.1, have not had Any problems with calls and the is before.
Does this sound like a problem with the software or the hardware to you guys??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
That's hardware my friend. I have the same problem. I'm sending my phone back to T-Mobile for a new one free of charge.

Do you expect there to be any problems with regards to phone having been rooted and s-off'd??
It's possible. Run an RUU that's for your carrier and s-on again. Just to be on the safe side.

Sorry to be a noob, but where would i get the RUU for my phone HTC One (M7) and carrier O2?

Thats weird... I got the same problem as you... I did the s-off, flashed latest firmware for 4.2.2, then flashed 13.3 arhd rom and still no mic. I have to put my calls on speakers.
Will try to flash a new rom and firmware... Its probably a problem with the firmware.

Any luck here?
Im completely stuck, trying to unroot, but cant due to my device not installing correctly. Have tried four different computers running win7 and Vista. HTC One stock phone installs perfectly but my rooted device wont. Have tried unistalling all htc products/drivers, rebooting, installing the driver 4.2.00.1 or whatever it is, then rebooting and plugging phone in and still not working.
Is there any way that i can unroot without having to connect to computer?
Hi guys,
I have the same problem which I posted about here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2426212.
I also saw this problem mentioned on other forums. Did any of you find this roughly coincided with the 4.2.2 update?
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am on stock 4.2.2 3 UK ROM.

You said you had the same problem, I have just downloaded CyanogenMod 10.2 for android 4.3. I flashed cm 10.2 along with gapps, setup the phone, made my first call and poff the handset caller mic works.
So it was a firmware problem, not sure why it stopped working after 5 months but hey ho, operating One again.

So this is the first I have heard that reflashing can solve the problem of the bottom mic quietness/distortion.
Would love to hear if other people found that reflashing helps.
Given that many people are using the stock firmware without issue, it leads me to believe it might be some configuration error that gets wiped on reflash and there is potentially a fix without reflashing. Maybe?
Same issue for me - ARHD 4.2.2 and S-Off.
Managed to get into a world of problems trying to return the phone to stock so I could return it to the store. Will try 4.3 and hope things resolve themselves.
Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, upgrading to 4.3 has not resolved the mic issue.
iTroll :
Maybe you can try to flash the new firmware 4.3, full format /sdcard, when its done, reboot to recovery mode and adb push rom.zip /sdcard ... Personally it's what I did...
gavjs :
Have you tried the diag test *#*#3424#*#* then audio test... Theres a mic test there (thanks iTroll for the hint)

Thanks for the tip. The audio test passed which leaves me confused as the mic is definitely not working well at all when I test it in call. I wonder if there's a different ROM or version that I should install...any ideas?

This is *exactly* the same symptoms I have then. My mic test passes too.
I wonder could it be over zealous noise cancellation? Does anyone know if it can be disabled for testing purposes?

I just tried installing ARHD Google Edition and no change. Dont know if it's worth playing about more with any other ROMs / Kernels etc, or just to try and get this back to stock to return it (as I'm sure they'll blame me for messing around with root / CID / s-off / rom - and they may be right!)

If it is any consolation, I am on stock, never rooted or unlocked and have the same issue.
Anyone know how to disable active noise cancellation?

Hello,
I've installed the ics update of htc. Since then my phone is crazy laggy and slow. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'll probably do a factory reset, and if nothing works I ll go for custom roms. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can try before these.
Thanks!

It's best if you flash custom roms. It really unleashes the true power of the Incredible S. You see stock software from HTC isn't optimized. And when xda gods like mike1983 (i think) create roms like arhd, you will experience true power

Thanks for the answer! I'm interested in doing that, but I use only linux and I see most of root s-off stuff needs a Windows PC, and for hboot 2.02, there is no straightforward guide yet. If I find a nice guide JUST for linux (and for hboot2.02), I'll sure do it.

Flash the RUU for your phone, and then Reset it.
I did it that way and it was fast.
I ve read a bit about ruu, but it still seems to need windows machine. I would install a custom rom if I had windows. By the way, how do you find the ruu? Do you get it from HTC?

I flashed RUU but did not reset it. Most of the time phone is slow. Does factory reset after RUU really does the trick?
I am kind a sick of reinstalling my apps, because I allready did 2 resets after first OTA, downgrade to 2.3.5 and new OTA (before RUU become availible) and after that - 4.0.4 RUU. Perfomance stays the same - slow.
Disable that weird office app that came with this update, I think that may solve your problem. At least it worked for me!! I'm using Documents to go anyway so I didn't need it

Hey Guys,
I had updated my HTC Incredible S recently and found ICS was great but had major problems as phone became "laggy" and took more than 16 seconds to get back to Home Screen after hitting the Home Icon.
I did search for the solution on google and found the trick mentioned by Luckyone199 in the link as mentioned below:-
androidforums.com/htc-incredible-s/580085-all-about-ics-htc-incredible-s-ice-cream-sandwich-update-rolling-out-now.html#post4751371
And guess what.... it worked wonders!!
Just go to DEVELOPER OPTIONS under Settings and UNCHECK ''DON'T KEEP ACTIVITIES'' on bottom of the menu.
It just worked great and now my phones is ultra-fast and I able to make the best of what ICS had to offer.
It should work for other phones too. Thanks to Luckyone199. Please do try it and post back so it will be helpful for others too. Thanks Guys

Try to keep the "Background process limit" to Standard Limit and Uncheck "DONT KEEP ACTIVITIES" and then restart your phone. Please do reply if this worked. Thanks
It's strange that some get laggy experience and some get much better performance after the ICS upgrade... My phone is blazing fast compared to gingerbread. Don't forget that Sense 3.6 is heavier... Browsing, running apps and even 3D performance have improved! In Modern Combat 3 there's a huge difference!!1
Have they improved the qualcomm drivers or is just ICS more tweaked for games & hardware acceleration???

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S GT-i9000 on Orange, UK. I've only had it a week because I bought it off my brother. I upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 and although it seems fine, there is no signal at all, EVER. Although it get's wireless Internet! And the SIM isn't damaged in any way, so it is definitely a software issue. The Internet is a bit strange, because it is coming from my network, not Wi-Fi (it's off, as is bluetooth).
I'm liking ICS, but obviously I need a signal. It was easy to upgrade, I just booted from the zip I placed in the bootloader. But I can't downgrade the same way. I've tried looking for old Gingerbread files, but can't find any! All the Depositfiles.com links are dead. So, ideally I would like to stick to ICS and find a signal fix, failing that I guess it's a downgrade that I need?
Or should I upgrade to Jellybean?
I couldn't find anything on people having similar problems with network loss, but I'm 99.99% certain it is the software causing the issue.
Thanks for reading.

I'm downloading DarkyROM now, but it's going to take 2 hours! Is this the right way to flash a modem? I've not done it before.
Hi
I had a similar problem on my old SGSI. I flashed an ics rom (don't remeber the name) and everything worked apart from the network so no phone calls and no internet apart from with Wifi. Anyway i googled the problem and tried loads of different solutions. After flashing more roms i ended up with the DarkyROM_v11.0_black_edition with the 3.0.17-semaphore_ics_1.2.5s kernel.
This didn't help either. In a last minute test at the end of what felt like the longest day in my life i checked to find that i had damaged one of the contact pins that read the sim card. I bent it back and everything has worked since then. And it's worked well!
Thanks, it was the modem needed flashing! Very simple too I also downgraded to Gingerbread which is faster.
Thanks everyone :cyclops:

Help! Having installed {ROM}[T][STOCK][JB 4.3][UB&LB][9.2.A.0.295] Official Firmware - Rooted&Deodexed 25/02 by DaRk-L0rD on my XperiaT, my problem is that bluetooth will only pair and work with a device once. If I then turn bluetooth off on my phone and turn it back on again, it tries to connect again to the same device but fails. Not even manually trying will work, I have to unpair and repair all over again. I've tried everything and have now flashed stock 4.3 ROM where this issue disappears.
If anyone has any ideas I would really like to hear them. Thanks!
(I previously posted this question in the forums general Q&A but have had no response. In the hope that it's a Xperia issue, hopefully someone here can help. Please feel free to delete my previous post if that's part of the rules.)
Update:
It seems that the cause of this is that my bluetooth mac address keeps changing every time it tries to connect to something (windows showed as much when pairing with my phone). If anyone knows why that happens on a rooted stock rom and how to fix it then I'd love to hear any suggestions.

Mate if you're using dark lord's original 4.3 rom like I was there's now a fix for this issue somewhere in his thread. However, the new 4.3 rom (.199) posted by dark lord has the fix integrated, I'm using it now and it's working great.

because if you are I will flash it immediately
Yes mate that's the rom I was using. The fix you refer to is not what I was talking about, the fix is actually somewhere in the rom thread.
However, yeah I'm now using the. 199 rom you linked to at the end of your post and there are no more bluetooth problems, or any problems for that matter!

Don't flash ROMs not meant for your phone. You could bork it. To my knowledge, the mount points are not the same and it's a risk flashing. Without an RUU yet, you could potentially be in some trouble if things don't go well

Thank you! I did tweet with Mike1986 when I first had trouble, I did say I was trying on Sprint since it said '" All M8 Models in his post and he did not say it was not Sprint Compatible so I assumed it was. All he asked was if I had Sprint boot.img on my phone. I am not sure what that meant and after searching the net and XDA, still don't know and said I would try other sources for help.
It does seem not seem to work on Sprint, I am almost positive I followed all of the steps, unless there is something completely different from M7 Flashing that I am not aware of. Rooting worked like a charm but as I said before, and thank fully so, after flashing, the phone reboots right back to the fastboot.
It does give you a scare at first as it goes completely dead for a few minutes but then finally shows up in Fastboot and can be wiped and the backup can be applied.
I'll keep looking around for info!

It does give you a scare at first as it goes completely dead for a few minutes but then finally shows up in Fastboot and can be wiped and the backup can be applied.
I'll keep looking around for info!
Well, enough said for sure.
Thanks all for your input!

I completely understand, although I read thru that Rom page at least 4 times before flashing and found no indication it was an International Version or as mike1986 usually says, " apart from Sprint" . Even after I spoke with mike1986, still no indication this would not work on Sprint. Hopefully others will find this thread before trying although I had really no trouble recovering from it. Lucky for that I guess. Anyway, thank you for your input as well. Have a great rest of your day!
hi,
i also tried flashing ARHD with my sprint m8. both v22 and 22.1, i also get a black screen, if i reboot, it goes straight to the bootloader.
i too, thought it would work since it says all variants, and was not specified that SPRINT is not supported. i even asked, and somebody answered that it is.
even anybody had success installing ARHD on a sprint m8, please share what you did to make it work
thanks
Compatibility is only available through 4.4.3 base or 11.X. 4.4.4 hasn't been built for Verizon or sprint yet, it's possible to boot at 4.4.4 but you'll get no signal
