[Q] volume low earpiece - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the earpiece of the phone that I find very low yet set fully
I wonder if there was an internal possibilitée modified file to increase the factory settings?
Or any other solution will be good to take.
I'm on the stock rom JB EU.
PS: I have not found the link to my presentation you can provide me?
sorry for my bad english I'm french and google translate is my friend!
thank you
apparently just a hardware's problem

As far as I know, JB does not allow these changes.
I'm not pleased with my volume as well. Almost buying a headphone amp do help it.

thank you for your response
but my problem is not vients helmet but the small internal speaker when I phone

I am pretty sure it's related to the cellphone's hardware, it's low simply because it is. Nowadays every smartphone is like this, a friend of mine got an iPhone 3GS and I find its internal speaker incredibly low.

So nothing to do then?
sniff :crying:

hi everyone
I have solved my problem was that the iron filings in the ear speaker!
I don not get found this room that is out of stock on many website!
Someone recommended me a website?
thank you and see you soon

audio quality

I've tried to find something in forum but with no luck.
After some weeks of use, my Kaisers started to have a bad audio quality with external speaker, even with ringtones.
I had the original Italian Rom but, also with Dutty's 06, it's the same.
Always distorted audio.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!
Have you been your device with the volume controls maxed out?
If so, it may be a bad sign. Kaiser's speaker is cheap, and maybe it tears out easily. From the moment I tried to listen to music with it, I could notice lots of cracks and buzz.
But it may be only a defective speaker of yours. Lowing the volume helps ?
ARGH!
mmm
maybe yes
but I've never used the device like an ipod
just only as a phone with the ringtones...
if the speaker is dead, where can I get one new?
:'(
thx in advance

low mic voice while on loudspeaker

i am facing an issue with my tytn II. When ever i shift to the loudspeaker, it seems the quality of the mic degrades. Keeping the phone at a distance of 1 feet, i have to shout so the other person can listen to me. And even normally if i compare my mic with other phones people says its difficult ti understand me when i am on this phone. is this a problem only with my phone or some one else is also facing the same?
PS :I can hear them very well though.

same here hope we all find an answer!
I know on the wizard, there was a registry tweak to fix this issue.
\\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\AUDIOGAIN(x)\
I don't see this on the kaiser/tilt. There's probably some key out there...gotta find it.
there is an application in settings Microphone AGC (audio gain control) but it doesnt help much either.....its just an enable and disable...may be there is some registry tweak to make it more effective
i joined this forum because of this problem as there were a lot posts in a different thread about it; however, it appears no one has found a resolution to the problem.
Some say it is a design flaw while others have been thinking (including myself) that there might be some type of registry fix for this. The agc in the htc menu being disabled does nothing to resolve the problem; but there could still be something in the registry that relates specifically to when the speaker phone is being used (the agc in the htc menu mentions it is for recording; there might be another setting in the registry for when the "speaker phone" is being used that overides the htc agc menu setting).
I did see a post where somebody said they had found the gain/volume through some sort of hack and it left there phone with a reverb and backfeed(he did not say how he did it though) ; dont know what the poster really did or if there might some other alternative.
At any rate, I am hoping that a fix can be found especially one where i can hack the registry to experiment or change the gain/volume microphone settings.
Yea, me and my girl damn near argue every time I use the speaker phone. It's pretty inconvenient not being able to use it.
I know that I was also having an issue with my Bluetooth volume and I fixed that in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359098&page=4
I'm not sure if there's any registry settings in the same general area as the Bluetooth that would control the speaker volume. I'm surprised the super-sleuths here at XDA haven't figured out a way around this yet.
Get crackin' fellas!!!
i guess that nobody has done or either can do anything for that shame on htc once more

bro u have the argument only when u use speaker phone....i have this argument whenever i talk to her even normally.....using the mic.....she says my earlier phone was 100 times better than this....whats the fun of buy so expensive one if we cant even talk.... i just hope i get some fix before i have a break-up ....)
i have tried almost all the radios available in the sticky......but nothing helped...(only made it worst sometimes)
You all need to change your Radio, I have had that with my tilt but after flashing and experimenting with a couple of radios it is OK now, not great but the other party can hear much better now and I did test it with my land line good quality.
i have tried all the radios but to no avail......anyother clue??????
just to get this on the top
seems like no one has a working solution for this issue??? or is it just no one cares ???

Changing the radio does not resolve the problem; the following link/thread shows various radios were tried and never resulted in resolution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337931&page=5
You also use the phrase :"it is ok now; not great" which leaves one to wonder if you really fixed as there have been "few" times that my speaker will operate "ok;but not great" but the caller still complains about me cutting in/out or has trouble understanding - most of the time the other caller cannot hear me or say i am garbled.
Also, the above thread also shows the problem was not resolved for users who sent there phone in for repair under warranty even when the phone was "replaced".
As one user said in the above thread:
"Hi:
I have a Tilt, and while I have not tried sending my phone in to the factory, I have done 3 warranty exchanges for this problem. All 3 had the SAME problem, so it seems that this problem is not isolated, and it is widespread "
Some have claimed this might be due to the non duplex design of the speaker meaning a hardware design flaw while others think there might some sort of software problem; but i really dont know; but do know that the problem exists and that a solution to the problem remains elusive and unresolved.
This is a problem with the HTC Hermes too.
1. The speakerphone volume is waaay too loud (even at softest setting).
2. The other party cannot hear you when you use the speakerphone.

Internal Speaker Not Working!!!! :(

Can anyone help me my internal speaker doesn't work and when I make a call i can't hear anything but I have to put it on loudspeaker in order hear the other person anyone faced any problems as such...
I also have this problem.
Device: MDA Compact IV
ROM: Duttys Diam V4 WWE
Radio: 1.09.25.23
I get it occasionally, when i recieve or when i dial. It usually sorts out by ringing 150, then switching between speaker and internal rapidly a few times.
I tried switching between Internal Speaker and External Speaker rapidly but it didn't work... Does anyone else hve any other solutions
Does it not work occasionally or always?
If it always doesnt work maybe its defected and needs replacement.. Its no big deal
Yea I know but the problem is when I give it to the service center I am sure I'll get it back after a month oh boy I guess I'll hve to give it to service center then I don't c any other options.....
lol yeah I understand your pain.. If its still under warranty its the best thing to do. If not, try to see some tutorials of how to replace it yourself. If its simple enough, I'd say buy a new speaker yourself and replace it.
hi guy,
i have problem with speaker of my o2 ignito ... where i can buy a new internal speaker ? ...there are a tutorial to ripair it?
thanks
l.
yea theres a pdf on how to replace it just google it.. if u find a speaker for sale let me know because i need one for my cell its shorts out during a call

i have the same problem! i need to increase and decrease the volume with the button to hear something from the internal speaker!! i don' known if is an hardware problem because the speaker seems to work,i also tried several rom but with the same result! now i have "Gen.Y D2 R5.2" .
Any ideas are welcome!!
Hi this happened to me exactly. The earpiece speaker just would not work, so I couldnt listen to calls and had to use loud speaker (annoying). This is a hardware issue as the speaker is crappy. You will need to buy a new earpiece speaker. This is the one you need (damn cand post the link) its from gsm4world.us and then search htc diamond earpiece speaker at 7.99 dollars pretty cheap and they ship to UK.
The fitting is quite difficult but check google and youtube for instructions on dis assembly and you should cope. hope it works for you guys.

TKS for the info! I'll check to do it by my self!
did it
i have solved my problem with the internal speaker!!
Was an hardware problem (Thanks oneshot12), i replace by myself the earpiece speaker follow the videos on youtube, (just some problem with the power button, didn't make the contact) and now everythings works!!
My Topaz has just started giving me the exact same problem. I either have to use the speaker phone or the headphones to be able to make calls. Very frustrasting!
I'm sure the phone is still in its warranty period, but I bought it second hand and so don't have the exact date of when it was bought.
I guess I'll be trying those youtube videos. Can anyone suggest a link?

[Q] galaxy s mic problem

hi:
besides the galaxy s I have a nokia 72e and I want to ask if anyone has a problem with microphone (with Galaxy s)? maybe is not something serious but when i`m talking from the e72 the people hear me more clearly than i talk from Galaxy s;they complain that my voice is muffed.
i don`t know what to do .... if i go to warranty and stand in lines and let the phone for almost a week in their custody, and find out after that the phone was alright...?!
i discovered the difference by chance, when I called the same person from both phones shortly.
if anyone knows this kind of problem please let me know......
First of all, this doesn't belong in development.
Secondly, yes there is a known issue with the mic on the SGS, or rather the mic drivers and settings. I don't think there is a community fix for this, and Samsung has not acknowledged it publicly, so I don't think it will be fixed any time soon.
jap, I just finished my mic mod there. I looked the youtube video
how to disassemble the phone and bettered the mic part.
The mic is situated 90 degree and little rubber channel is used
to direct the sound to mic. This tiny rubber channel was incorrectly
pressed in so half of the input was covered. So a I widened the channel input
and also drilled the hole in case little bigger (do not do that! it may ruin the
case chrome). Sounds little bit better.
Now, is this normal, to make a mod to better mic sound for a elite phone ?
yes, there absolutely a known issue. I purchased two of these phones, and both had the exact same thing you describe. It was absolutely horrible!! I received two replacements, and the sound quality is MUCH MUCH better... BUT, it is still no where near where i think it should be. all my previous HTC devices had far superior sound quality than the Samsung GS. The Galaxy picks up voices 100 feet away... and noises from other crap that none of my other phones ever did... I'm hoping that it is in fact a software thing, and once 2.2 is released, it has better canceling technology built in. Will see..
Construction of built-in microphone is not a problem... The problem lies in software. If you connect external mic (fe. headset) sound is still disorted. There's no way 2 microphones will be broken. This is the same headset which is shipped with Samsung Wave and that phone has no problems with build in and headsets microphone.

Good point !
But in my case there was 50% better quality with headset ..
Now that I have some of yours attention - why don't I see more post
of video jerkiness, stuttering problems ?
In my phone After every 1 sec. the video recording stutters slightly.
I saw this we saw this all ready in first galaxy test video.
My main problem with the mic is the distortion... It's so bad you can't even record a clip in the car with the radio on. It already gets distorted, something to be ashamed of samsung.
Nice to have HD recording, too bad the only thing worthwhile is the picture since the audio is utter crap.
(Yes, a bit frustrated )
Is it still this bad with the JPK Froyo firmware?
Moved thread to Q&A section
Never noticed this before. I hope this is software related. More and more bugs keep on appearing, almost wishing I picked another phone. The Galaxy S has downright amazing hardware, yet Samsung choose to let it down with all the bugs

I've just bought the Galaxy S for my other half and have noticed exactly the same problem . Went back to the shop and tried the test phone they have in the shop. I only noticed a very marginal improvement (guy in the shop didn't notice any difference).
Anyway I would be interested to know if anyone has swapped the phone since noticing this problem and had an improvement - i.e. is it just a dodgy batch of microphones from Samsung?
Thanks all!
Is there still no fix for the microphon problem? 5 million items sold and each owner of it cannot take a proper video from a concert or on a fair or even on a birthday party, where there are louder surroundings. Annoying.
Please, devolopers, have an eye, ups, ear on that!
I've been complaining about this since July... no response

Most smartphone will get crappy sound when using built in microphone on High volume environements. Basically, it's hardware limitation with the built in microphone.
I've done some test (see in the accesorie sections for result with video) and you can use an external microphone with an adapter for theses type of recording.
So, the delivered headset does nothing better than the onboard mic.
It is definitely a matter of the hardware?
Asap I'll give an external mic a try....(using the Nokia-made TV-cable...)

Pls reply to other forum messages showing that u also have the same problem after replacing the phone (it only solve part of your problem), because I see your msg from another post that u were saying that u have no problem after replacing the phone. And that is not totally correct, u still encounter some problems
My problem is slightly different
Hi,
I got a sgs early 2011 and I quickly noticed that the voice recorder gives a very bad sound when listening back. I started to be afraid I would be as bad when calling someone. The problem I have is a horribly distorted sound with a terrible noise in the background. The recorded sound is simply useless.
later I was very happy when I did the call test as the use of the embedded microphone to call is alright. I even rang a friend beside asking what he thought about the sound qualify and he said it was ok. Then we swapped phones and I too thought the sound was fine.
But we tested again a recorded sound & video with my friend and it was awful.
After finding this thread I decided to try again and to compare with the head set microphone. For me it makes a huge difference ! The noise disappears and the distortion too.
first I thought the problem came from the compression rather than the microphone and now I don't know what to think...
My phone is on Froyo 2.2.1 (thanks to this website).

I have the same issue.
Check the comments, there is a guy who says how to fix it, but he is not very precise, so i asked for more info.
We'll see
Πάνος
Try out Speedmod by Hardcore in the dev section. Includes fixes for the mic and headphone output.
No need for Audio boost or any hacks. Sound is the way it should be now
A lot less background noise on mic now and no more EU regulations degrading the audio quality anymore.

[Q] .757 Speaker issues, what do I do?

Hello, yesterday I updated and re-updated the latest (at least for Argentina) KitKat firmware.
The problem is that I'm still getting the speaker issues, where the sound swaps from the speakers to the earphone and I can't really hear my
ringtone when someone is calling or the volume on different apps is just too low.
I'm quite new to Android and I've been lurking around the internet for hours but it seems the update did fix the speaker issue for every user. I feel like an alien and I do not know what to do.
Shall I re-install the update until it fixes or should I just go to the closest Sony Support in my city? Thank you very much sorry for being this rookie.
Also, I have my BootLoader Locked.
