Hi everyone! It's time to some updates in my phone, so I have many questions...
1. My phone got "crash-tested" this summer and the screen is broken:

Only glass damaged, touchscreen and display are fine. I want to repair it by my own, a new component already bought . But the vendor's fault - it's from GT-i9003 model:
What are the differences between Super CleanLCD and Super AMOLED? Can I change this screen easily with my i9000 or I have to exchange the component/use new touchscreen only?
2. I want to make all internal memory as a system partition and then mount my SD Card as external_sd (not emmc). Is it possible? I know I can't mount it to Windows lately, but there's no problem for me. I want upgrade to Paranoid Android but I heared this ROM make it's own re-partion

i9000 and i9003 ROMs are not compatible with each other, so it may or may not work, even though the fittings may be identical. so its trial and error as not many would have had this scenario.you can compare phone specs here take note of the CPU difference
I would say, you best get the correct part.

hmm, you may need to develop your own ROM, to achieve this. and your starting point would be by reading all this

In theory, may I replace touchscreen only from my 9003 detail to current Galaxy S? I mean just repair my broken glass with a new touchscreen :good:

Firstly touch screen replacement is not an easy task, look here , its a similar process
second taking it a part here and here
you only need to change your front glass, as your i9000 digitizer is working and need not be changed, when touch is still functioning
yes, insha Allah it should be possible, but I believe its comes as an assembly, not just screen and the damage to other parts, is high, when trying to strip it down

Good Luck :fingers-crossed:
It's a long story, but my phone have a priceble appearance now
If you wan't to repair screen by your own, be patient and careful. There's a lot of glue here, as @xsenman said, you can easily damage some components, even a new detail. Do this only if you are pro in it (I'm not, - 267$). At least, there will be a useful video
Please, close this thread

It is so nice to know I'm not alone who thinks that light broken things can be repaired. So many people would throw it away and i9000 is so fantastic phone. No need for new one since pawitp brought us CM10.2

I know there is a few bitorrent apps, but I am looking for a lime wire app. I found Pocket G2 Pro but it is def dead as I think the last update was made in 05 or 06. I just think the phones are getting fast enough to really start using software like this.
P.S.
I searched
dude thats nuts...think about what ur askin here..limewire on a ppc?
i think ur better off just draggin and dropping from ur home setup to ur device.

wmTorrent may be the answer. I tried "cracked" version which was buggy. Maybe more luck with official one..

I agree with JstarLuvsTina. Personally I am shocked this thread is still up. First off most of the big cellular providers are monitoring usage of this sort and will not hesitate to cancel your phone plan if they find you using such software. AT&T is a big one, they have even put out press releases about this on their site. I wouldn't be suprised if you will eventually see such applications blocked from being used on devices and data cards.
blocked? that's nonsense... p2p is legal the only thing that's not is the things the people choose to share... but you don't have to try it. Im just tryin' to help people that are asking for something.

I would because of the legal ramifications as well as the impossibility. How do you "block" an application from being on a data card? You don't block applications from being on a hdd. You aren't blocking it from being on a flash drive either. Now blocking ports an app uses is another thing, but even then, it's as simple as using another port.
Its ridiculous to say that this thread should not be posted... If it’s not illegal it’s a valid topic and a question.
And besides why would someone care about one wanting to run any software on his ppc if its not against the law… (and frankly I wouldn’t care if it was against some law I dont work for the police, but that’s just me and a totally other matter)

Please link to this Press Release. That would be unreal. I pay for a teathering plan and if they started terminating people for using legal software I would imagine it would be a law suite. I use Torrent software on my phone racking up Gigs of downloads and never heard a peep out of ATT. I don't see why this is such an out there request. I want to make this phone like a full PC, with TV out, then a wireless keyboard and mouse.

i have the same problem i havent tried it yet but i think that if you install it to the memory card you can download the files there and save space and keep them there
I also would welcome such an app......
Me too, would be nice to, upon a peer asking about a track etc, to be able to download it in a few seconds or minutes.
Lime/frostwire is open source and Java based, shouldn't be too hard to port it to wm java.
Welcome to my latest port:

Please note: I ported this ROM in just under 2 hours today. The process went smooth and flawless. I know this is basically the same as our Gin Leak with the exception of the directional keyboard and maybe a couple of other tiny little things, but to port this is kinda like a show of force for me. I just did it for fun and I don't know... maybe somebody will like and use this ROM. I don't really plan on moving forward with development on this ROM unless people really, really, really want me too. You decide.

Well, if you are completely technologically illiterate, then paying $35 dollars is nothing compared to paying $500 to replace your device if you ruin it. Don't you agree?

There is alot of reasons people would want their phone rooted even if they didn't know how to do it. Remove bloatware, speed up the UI, use incompatible apps...and alot more.
I do agree that you should do it yourself to know how to fix it if something goes wrong, but when it comes down to it, it is their phone and they can do with it as they please.
The same could be said for basically anything though. If you can't change your own oil, should you be driving a car?

I agree with this. I cant root my phone (on my own). But I followed someone elses guide & was succesful. My GF has a wildfire S, & has constant problems with lack of memory. She cant root, or even follow a guide, but it needs doing to make the phone usable.
Guess it's a service they are providing but consumers might as well go on YouTube or Google and save yourselves $30. God knows how their software works. Good luck to them trying to explain to someone on how to unlock the HTC One X for example with their software.

Lol you should explain to them that that's not how It works!
Rooting a phone Is a joke IMO, Who would pay $35? I mean If It were flashing ROM's and what not then I somewhat understand that as that's where the brick can happen but can you really brick doing a simple root that takes less then 5 minutes?

Umm no. You have far more of a chance bricking your phone during the root process than flashing a ROM. Rooting can involve unlocking bootloaders, changing bootloaders, using unsecure boot images, flashing unsecure kernels...all of which can brick a phone...even if doen correctly. Flashing a ROM, 99.99999% of the time will not brick your phone.
I think this is only for very noobs

Hello,
My friend and I bought 2 XPERIA TX, I noticed that his screen looks better than mine, it's very clear that his viewing angles is also better than mine.
When I looked into the software info for both phones, I found one difference.
It's the Touch Firmware Version, mine is c while his is b.
Both phones are HK version, but my phone is ZH/EN and his phone is HK/CH
This is really makes me so angry
Here are two screen shots for software info from our phones.
I don't think that alone proves it's a completely difference screen. I think the touch screen digitizer is different compared to the screen itself. How did you get to the software info screen? I want to know what my version is as well.

Better means better, specially in viewing angles, the phone with b firmware has much better viewing angles than c.
Defected phones are not my concern here, if I got a defected phone I'll go to SONY Service Center, that's easy.
BTW I'm a SONY fan, and I love my TX, it's really a great phone, and in general it 's better than One X and SGS III.
But if SONY is releasing the handset with different hardware, they should state it and discriminate between them.
The difference between touch firmware versions means that we have 2 different touch panels ( digitizers ).
I hope you got it now.
Mine is C, and overall the screen it's ok, but yes, the viewing angles are very poor.

Yesterday my phone got soaked with salt water from canoeing. I had to take it apart and clean off all the salt and corrosion with methylated spirits and cotton buds before it would boot up again. Everything seems to be functioning perfectly except the microphone and vibrate. I noticed that they are along the same circuit board and think there may be a failing connection.
Is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks

May take longer to dry out, so best to place it in silica gel or uncooked rice for moisture absorption at least 48 hours but salts if any may not be removed unless cleaned out, just another another opinion as salts and water would not break circuit boards.

I found the culprit. A ribbon appears to be torn on the bottom part of the phone. Any way I can fix it? It'd be a shame to let the phone go to waste.

Yeah. You are exactly right. I did some research and found out it is the flex cable. Roughly $4 for a replacement but I wouldn't feel confident doing it myself. Should I take it to a phone repairer with the replacement part or something and hope they can do it?

yup, that an excellent idea, but do inquire about costs and also a good one as they need to strip the phone down, so can cause more damage, if they have not done it before
