Hello everyone!
I've tried to find the Sony Xperia Z (ZR, etc.) default icons anywhere, but theres only few of them. I've managed to find Phone, Messages, Browser - but it's a fact that there is WAY more than only these. I even downloaded Xperia Z ROM and tried to find them from there, but it was hopeless. So, all application icons (xhdpi) and of course those colorful "ball sized" media icons.
If someone could help me with this, it would be more than awsome. THANK YOU! :fingers-crossed:
Problem solved
OK, so I discovered the problem myself:
1. Download Xperia Z ROM
2. Look for "app" folder under "system" folder
3. If you are looking for example Browser icon, search the Browsers .apk-file and rename .apk to .zip
4. Extract the .zip file
5. Now there should be folder named "res" - open it and you will find loads of "drawable" folders
6 . Most high resolution images and icons are in drawable-xhdpi or drawable-xxhdpi folder

Well I never thought I would find myself contributing anything to XDA-Dev but I liked these icons so much I decided to share!
These icons are either hand made by myself, or edited from various sources. They feature a transparent background, so they should work well with most statusbar's out there. I am currently working on finishing the blue style icons across the board, and perhaps the purple as well (like the battery).
I have tested these on VanillaEclaire 4 and FroydVillan 1.1, and these work without MetaMorph etc etc.
These are fairly simple to install:
- Pull your framework-res.apk (should be in /system/framework) to the folder of your choice.
- Open framework-res.apk with WinRAR or 7zip and navigate to res\drawable-mdpi (some may be called drawable-hdpi). Just find the .png files that match the ones in my zip files.
- Drag your favourite .png files into the WinRAR/7zip window and click OK to save
- Push updated framework-res.apk to your device and reboot. (adb remount, then, adb push ..., adb reboot)
- If you wish to include the gmail, email, or sms icons like in the screenshot, please also update gmail.apk, email.apk, mms.apk as appropriate!
Update: Pictures! Tons more icons!
Update 2: Vending.apk icons (Market download notifications) See post
Mass spam of the icons, pick and choose!
Disclaimer:
Please update the filenames of the .png's as appropriate. I have created/included several copies that can be used as you please, so the names don't always match the .apk files.
Please make backups before pushing to /system
I have read posts on this forum regarding editing .apk files and the need to re-sign them, or issues with endless reboots after editing .apk files. I used WinRAR and did not create a new framework file, only edited it. I have had 0 issues.
Mega pack attachment below contains all icons from the other 3 zip files!
Update: Pink/Purple pack!
Reserved.
Hopefully I can upload pictures now.

Hi Jen, sorry was this when you were pushing or pulling the file? Rebooting?
I use a vanilla rom, and the location of framework-res.apk is exactly where you mentioned. I use a program called "ADB File Explorer" to find things on my device.

When I was pushing in files..
I haven't tried it since I last posted, just don't have the time at the momment i'll give it another try tomorrow..But im really excited on getting this to work <3 i've been looking for something like this for the longest.
Ok sounds good! If it keeps failing to push, try ADB file explorer:

Jen, you're not repacking the apk are you? Just need to update, If you look at my sig i've made a video on how to update images on the phone, might help =o)
SpeeDemon, I really like your battery icons, would it be ok to use them on my next video? I'm making a video on how to change the look of the battery status bar icon and rather than making crappy images myself would like to use your ones, I would of course give credit to you for the icons.

How did you update your .apk files and push them back to your device?
Thanks for your interest in the icons!

Hi Dennis. These icons should work with most ROM's out there available for your device, rooted or otherwise. You will need to familiarise yourself with any of the various methods of pulling framework-res.apk from your phone, and placing the .png files into their correct folder (as outlined in my first post). Then you will need to update the file on the phone with your modified .apk (Google/Android call this "push").

If root explorer can pull a copy to your SD card, you may be able to pull it and just do a normal file copy to your PC. You would then need to push it back from SD > /system using root explorer. I have never used the app before, but I just googled it now and some screenshots hint at this possibility.
I would still suggest trying to get ADB working - it is worth the hassle and much quicker than mounting/unmounting an SD card all the time!
i made it with root explorer. I made a copy from the system folder to SD card. then i sent the file via bluetooth to my pc. then i replaced some pictures and clicked OK. after this i sent the framework-res.apk back to my device. then i copied this and pasted it in System/framework and replaced the old one.
and now i cant boot anymore.
it just shows the startupshow (modified) and then there is a black screen which is illuminated a little bit..
so what can I do?
hope for a quick answer.
kind regards from sad DauL

try the framework-res.apk in system\framework
NOT sure it gets unpacked anywhere
The default wallpaper for themes, are stored in the framework-res.apk as silashack mentioned. You can open this file with 7z or something similar and the wallpaper is located in res/drawable/default_wallpaper and res/drawable-hdpi/default_wallpaper or res/drawable-hdpi-v4/default_wallpaper

Does anyone have the 2 blue wallpaper images that come with launcher pro? I can't find them anywhere and only managed to get it while on the lite bluesky theme. I don't want to add them theme again as I'm running darkys rom and it is super quick. If anyone could post the files I would be most grateful!
System/Wallpaper on some .

I've seen different threads about Viewing/using emoji on android devices however I haven't found a solution or final conclusion if this is possible. I don't like the android emojis that gets displayed on my phone when on Facebook etc. Is it possible to have IOS emoji icons on android fully functioning and viewable?
My phone is rooted if that helps

Hello u may extract files and replace emoji icons in APK framework. The app whether is Conversation.APK or Messaging.APK...once done replacing,
u may rebuild it back into systems/apps folder in phone. Hope helps.

You could replace the Android images for the iPhone ones with a bit of apk modding.

See whitefang3456s comment about which apk it is, then simply extract it to your computer then browse the drawables folders and it will become apparent which images you need to change, and you don't need to decompile either so the task is quite simple.

+1. Thanks for helping @XperienceD
@dreamville, U may need:
1. 7zip filemanager to extract, zip to archive APK
2. Adobe PS or Paint.net to edit PNG image for emoji icons
3. Formatter link here to format. zip extension file into. APK extension.
And yes. No need decompile or mess with Binary scripts
Hope helps

Not sure why you need to use that as, just right click and "open with" should be enough.

Some APK files aren't allowed to replace without being extracted or used by APK Manager. In the sametime, changing format of zipped files usually saved more spaces compared to original files

I browsed around the drawables folder, and didn't find any of the emoji. Can anyone shed some light on what folder they might be in, thanks.
I was looking in framework-res.apk btw.
Can someone do this for the Xperia Z? Where are the emoji?
I've searched but I can't find an answer to this one, is there a mod to add say a close all button to the task manager on an Xperia t?
I know there is apps that will add a widget to a home screen, but I'm looking for something a little more integrated.
Thank you
Install Niaboc79's Honami Home & Widgets and you'll get it (I think, not sure, install it anyway this home is much better than the stock one)

Thanks that does appear to have the close all button I am after, just not sure how to extract and only install just that part?
I notice it comes alongside a notification toggle, but I really dont want to change the one I have as nreuge very kindly adapted a lidroid v2 notification toggle to have sony style found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2304996&d=1381018726
Could you possibly point me in the right direction on how to attach that close all part to my current task manager? Without changing my lidroid v2 notification toggles.
Thank You
Not to worry think I sorted it, just opened the zip with winrar and deleted the systemui.apk leaving just the taskswitcher.apk and then installed the zip with cwm
Seems to have left me with my lidroid toggles but added a nice close all button to my taskbar.
Thank You
Systemui is the notification bar dude...im saying task only

Well your previous explanation might have been a little brief for him.
- get the file as mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206308
- extract the zip file
- copy taskswitcher.apk to your mobile
- go to system/app on your mobile
- find taskswitcher.apk and copy it to a separate safe place
- copy the modified taskswitscher.apk into your system/app
- set correct permissions
- reboot
- enjoy
It works like a charm. Closing all tasks should be a factory item. Thanks for the hint, Steven!
Yeah cheers guys, I wasn't meaning I deleted systemui from my phone, I just deleted it from the zip so when I used cwm to install the zip it only installed the task apk, either way it's working perfectly with no glitches and I still have my nice notification toggles
Xposed framework puts a close all button in recent apps as well. I cant remember which module it is but I think it is xblast

I will upload a decompiled systemui and you can browse through it and see where everything is but most will be in res\drawable-xxxhdpi-v4 on a stock Note 4 rom and the icons in the status bar start with "stat_sys"
here is the file its in zip format but is not usable so just unzip its from 5.1.1-N910W8VLU1COK3 but all are pretty much the same, also if you want to change colours and position of icons you will need to decompile the apk easiest program I have ever used is Tickle My Android which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633333
systemui zip is here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24415232478675087
Hi...understood, thanks for the answers.
I also digged my hands in apkstudio, apk signing and zipaliging processes and managed to achieve thos and even tweak some aps
