[Q] please suggest a ICS rom for P990, thanks - LG Optimus 2x

I tried CM7.1, so many bugs that it seems no hope for P990.
I tried OpGaNex, but no sure if baseband problem or the rom problem, it is lag when opening new app.
Can anyone suggest me a rom that you tried and found so far so good for general use.
My requirement is simple, no need for special effect or lot of tools, but is STABLE and NO obvious problem. (stock rom is really the last resort..i hope i have better choice..)
Particularly, I would like to select one of below, please let me know if you have tried any of below and found obvious problem, like camera wont work, very lag, etc.
(i know i should not ask this, but i really find it great effort to backup and restore for trying so many roms..)
Stock Roms ICS
LG Official ICS V30A/V30B (01-JAN-13)
AOSP EaglesBlood [BETA?] (15-JAN-13)
CivZ Multi Flex Rev 1.1 (13-APR-13)

Thread like this are forbidden bro, if you don't want try them all, just read feedbacks and flash the rom which seems good from feedbacks
Anyway, Dmx 1.6.5, i think that version it's not on the first page you have to search in the thread for it, the best ics rom I ever used, super smooth, no bugs, stable, incredible multitasking, great battery life (use it with the latest kob kernel, that's the configuration I had time ago. Just to inform you bro, the baseband doesn't influences in any way to the performance of the device, it just change your signal stuff and telephony, maybe it reduce/increase your battery life, depends of the baseband and where you are situated.

[Q] Best rom for optimus 2x

Hello guys
I got an optimus 2x, and was planning to root it, or whatever you call it From day one, I was really dissapointed with the LG stuff, it got better with launcherPro, which made my homescreen much much faster and smoother. I think this phone has enormous potensial, but bad software. Therefore, since I am new to this forum, I am looking for the "best" root or rom thing for it. Maybe there is many different versions, but I like things clean, simple, fast and smooth. thats what she said.
Anyway, I've seen a friends rootet xperia, and he said he got some new UI with folders and stuff. I dont mind this, only it is good, and maybe it will be customisable still?
Problems Ive had with the phone: Random shuttdown, ugly apps like facebook for LG and antivirus etc. Buggy lockscreen. Battery goes to 0% when it randomly shuts down.
Is it wise to get 2.3 on the optimus 2x? I would love some inputs from you guys also, what you like the best and some general experience. Will I be able to update my phone when im rooted, like from the settings options from the phone? dno if this is important or not.
Anyway, links would be appriciated to official threads or direct links to your recomended roots/roms. Thanks
I have no experience with this, so a HOWTO guide or a youtube vid would be nice. Ive only done jailbreaking on 3.1.2 on 3gs
Cm7 is still in a nightly on the o2x but it has alot of bugs, i think. Mdc fr17 is very stable and fast, it's 2.2.2 though

If you want a clean, simple, fast and smooth ROM like you said ide go for the Modaco Fr17 Vanilla version -
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...om-rom-for-the-lg-optimus-2x-vanilla-edition/
This is also extremely stable as its based on the stock ROM but with all bloatware removed, also read some of the pinned topics on the links below, this will show you all you need to do.
http://android.modaco.com/category/506/lg-optimus-2x-2x-modaco-com/
For bleeding edge stuff, hope on the CM7 nightly train, but don't complain if it crashes.
If you want stability, then try the MoDaCo stock based ones.
You don't need much of a tutorial to do it, use SuperOneClick to gain root, grab ROM Manager from the Market and use that to install ClockworkMod Recovery... download the ROM you want, wipe & install (also via CWM if you don't want to fiddle)
Hi
If you don't want to install a custom ROM:
have a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037751
-Install latest firmware and baseband for your region (or another region if you prefer)
-root your phone
-Install ROM Manager from Market and install ClockWorkMod Recovery from there
-Install dexopt fix
Now that you have a good base, look in market for an app to uninstall system apps (I have used Root Uninstaller). To completely remove system apps I think you need to remount /system rw, else you can freeze apps for easy restoring if you mess up.
I would also recommend installing launcherpro from market (replace home screen and app drawer) and google stock lockscreen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033776&highlight=aosp+lockscreen
Thanks for the help guys. Im gonna try the Modaco Fr17 Vanilla version. I have an exam tmrow and will therefore not try it out until the afternoon. I also have to read some, and learn the difference between root and boot, and some of ur advance words havent found a real guide yet, but have the iso and all those other folders that was in the Modaco Fr17 Vanilla version.
great fun
I think the phone drain battery too fast in 2.2 (official rom)
I loose 40% of battery within 6 hours without using anything (when I'm sleeping during a night)
That's why I change to use 2.3 and I found that the battery problem is gone
I loose 1% in 12 hours.
I'm also new to the fun world of android. I've learned alot by simply reading threads and using google to explain som of the terms Read the roll up thread very thorougly, explains alot.
I'm now using CM nightly #31 and it's been very stable for me.
Just do some backups and start toying around with your phone, it's fun!
..but I like things clean, simple, fast and smooth = cyanogenmod!
So far, from temasek is the best.. he got a custom kernel too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421425
My Opinion,
Android 2.3 from teamsek. It is just brilliant.
Android 4.0 from xxMrHyde + Nova Kernel is quite good keeping in mind the state of ICS on the 2X.

then when they want to go further flash a Custom Kernel (for CM7 i think the best one is Etana)

[Q] Dead Slow Stock ROM. Pls suggest ultra fast custom ROM.

I am on stock rom and I cant explain how slow it is. I dont know what has happened to this phone but earlier it was just fine. Now it responds too slow. I did a factory reset and took it to Service center. They re-installed the ROM and gave it to me. 2 days the phone was ok but now again it is dead slow.
The phone doesnt have more than 15 apps installed. Since i got the new SGS II this is my secondary phone. Earlier this phone used to be fully loaded and never got such problem. Pls help me to install a fast custom ROM in this phone.

U can try my ROM . See my signature.
How good is MIUI? Is there any official guide to flash that ROM since i dont know much about this stuff..
Well I'm on gingerreal 1.1.9 JVT and have to say its a very very strong ROM - I've added thunderbolts tweaks 2.2 and Semaphore kernel 2.1.1 JVZ - and the ROM is very smooth and quick. It is also quite stable with no reboots, FCs or applications/functions not working. The latest one based on JVZ is out but I haven't tried that. I also use GO Launcher EX instead of TW and the response feels quicker and smoother. Overall I'm pretty happy with it instead of stock - I get about 1 day battery life with heavy usage and up to 2 days with moderate to light usage.
you have to try them all to see whitch one really fits your needs... =)
start at least with the three most popular, the most active and the most up to date xda samsung custom ROMs:
- Jetpack Mod
- Symplicity
- S.U.R.F.A.C.E.
some (relative) new ones that may be interesting (diferent category):
- DoctorZ ROM

- ...
but there are even more custom ROMs...
certainly try CM7, Insanity, MIUI and ICS

Thanks Sam. Yesterday I flashed MIUI 1.12.23 and till now i see a lot improvement. Response is good. No FC or Reboots so far. Nice and clean UI with useful options. Kinda looks like iPhone. LoL..
I had 2 ROMs in mind. The most popular, CM7 and MIUI. I saw a problem with CM7 that it doesnt have native gmail and other google app support. So immediately shifted to MIUI.
I believe, just like ROM, a fast kernel is also important for overall snappy experience. Which one do you suggest? Is semaphore 2.2.0 is really good?
I know all custom kernels/roms are good but just asking for the fast and stable one.

Great spirit bro!! Keep it up ! their is no best ROM as said by hundreds of people , try any ROM that looks good to you and stick to it if its good and until the chef f**** his own ROM.

HAPPINESS!! What MOD makes you device happy, Post Here!

Since I got my o2x i have been customing and upgrading trying to find its happiness and i can honestly say I have!!! My o2x is currently whizzing around like its on an overdoze of speed. I am a heavy user, I use my o2x for everything and I sometimes feel sorry for the poor thing. I have tried lots of customs roms and kernels but this worked so well for me I have to talk about it so here it goes.
If you are still reading I assume you have already rooted your device and currently have a stock rom on it, if not please don't ask me as I am not a developer and I am sure you know how the internet (google search) works. This is what worked for me and if it doesnt for you I am really sorry but find your own happiness.
Right to business:
1. Get on CM7 latest nightly
2. Follow Temasek http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421425 and get kanged
3. Swiftextreme kernel (wish that developer comes back to xda ) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325183
3. Match RIL with get RIL (725 v10d, Europe) worked for me
Voila your o2x is now a superphone on speed, if it works for you, you will feel the difference.
Keep your tweaks (kangs and kernels) in a folder where you can easily update and recover. You will have to repeat the steps when updating kang.....no wipe necessary.
FYI: please note that I am a user and not a developer and I cannot be held responsible for your device....READ INSTRUCTIONS properly and always BACKUP before flashing (cos it makes people get a better view lol....sorry had to).
Does it work for you? Dont thank me thanks to all the great developers of the android community who are priceless and make priceless contributions.
Post your device's happiness. What is working for you?
Congrats! Our phone is really great when rooted and flashed a custom rom and kernel on it...
One thing is... SwiftExtreme is really outdated and you should try another kernel like:
Ironkernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359307
Vadonkas KANG kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427646
These kernels are I think better than swiftextreme
Enjoy in your new phone. You wont regret that

i know swiftextreme is outdated and thats what shocked me....i have tried ironkernel and it constantly crashes and for some reason Vadonkas kernel not working for me, phone doesnt boot nothing. I am on swiftextreme now and it is extremely stable quickly switching between apps. I can be gaming, tethering and replying to my messages everything, which with ironkernel it would start lagging and rebooting but this is really stable. Vandonkas look good and I might give it a go
Hmm these kernels should work with the latest kangs
what about camera? is it good? did you compared it with one on stock rom? IMHO low quality camera is the only, but huge disadvantage of custom roms that are not based on stock.
Yeah I know but for some reason just not working for my o2x. Wud be great to have a more up to date kernel but swiftextreme works really well. I'll keep following updates see if I get lucky

even though swiftkernel is outdated I think it is the most stable, using with latest wajkiui (2.1.20) vadonka looked interesting but my phone is constantly crashing with it :S, anyone else have the same with lastest wajkiui?
I totally agree with you, I've never had my phone this stable I don't close apps no more just switch between them. I hope it manages with the newest kangs.

- some other mods like Supercharger etc.
cant agree with you.
i have tried cm7 and miui. both were wonderful, no complains. works perfect, looks great. except camera. maybe i need some camera mod or something else?
i'm attaching two photos. one with miui rom other with this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410662. can't you see difference? both made in same conditions with same battery cover.

[Q] what is the best version of rom CM7 now for now?

I have not followed to update rom for my device for a half year
So I don't know what is the best rom for Optimus 2X now
I am using CM7 and I feel like I like it, I get used to it.
So that's why I am looking for only CM7 rom.
However, if you have any other rom that you think it's better. Please suggest me, and please tell me why is it better.
Thank you.
this is my device information
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: 1035.21_20110405
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.41-vorkKernel
Mod version: CyanogenMod-7-06212011-NIGHTLY-Optimus2X
Any of them I need to change for a better performance, please tell me.
ps. I suffer the freeze problem sometimes. For now, I use it only for game and chat. When I play a game, I usually suffer that the game hangs, and popup "Force Close"
And sometimes phone automatically shut off.
I was bored, until I feel nothing about it...... (too often until I buy new phone to use as phone, and use 2X as a video game device)
Look for temasek's Kang rom in the Development forum. It's quite stable, has a great performance and battery life is good too.

You might also want to change your kernel. Vorkkernel is outdated, try either ETaNa Kernel or Ironkernel. You should be able to find them in the dev section.
yeah, I know that my rom and anything of that is really old because of I play lots of game and don't want anything to be erased. Also, that time the new rom update too fast. I was bored of changing rom every 3 days. So I stopped following all of these and keep using it.
And now, I think the time has come to modify everything.
Can you guys tell me the best version of everything for me to upgrade it.
e.g. Firmware (my 2x is still V10B)
Baseband
Kernel
and Rom
if you specify version for me, it would be much faster for me to find it
thank you
Allright,
Firmware: Either Android 2.3.X or 4.0 (your choice, however 4.0 is still in alpha phase, so not everything is working perfectly)
Baseband: Different for each and every phone. Do you have good signal and call quality right now? Then there is no need to change your baseband. Make sure to have a matching RIL file with your BB. Download one from the GetRIL app.
Rom: For Android 2.3.X (a.k.a Gingerbread) I would recommend temasek's latest CM7 KANG, or the latest CM7 nightlies, because they are the best and most recent. Temasek can't continue his CM7 work anymore unfortunately, but his Kangs are rock-solid. (Link in signature)
For Android 4.0 (a.k.a Ice Cream Sandwich) you can choose between the latest RC'S CM9 SelfKANG (link in signature) or Owain's CM9 KANG. (dev section) They're both pretty new and are quite stable despite being in an alpha stage. However, not everything is working perfectly, but I can tell you once everything works, CM9 will be much better than CM7.
Kernel: If you use CM7, you can choose between many kernels. The best ones I would recommend are the ETaNa Kernel (link in signature) and Ironkernel. These kernels are the most recent and have the best performance. Unfortunately the dev from Ironkernel, SetIron, left XDA so you cant follow the development over here.
For CM9 there is only one custom kernel available, which is also Ironkernel from SetIron. (link in signature) Although I must say that it's not fully stable because CM9 being in an alpha stage.
Hope this helped
For me, temasek's latest CM7 KANG is the best ROM so far.
However, seeing you havent change ur ROM for the last 6 months and familiar with nightlies, I would recommend you to update to the latest CM7 nightlies.
Just as simple as that. no need to think and you will find your O2X in its best performance.
I recommend Temasek's Kang. I started using is a few weeks ago and it's the best GB rom I've used. I'd still be on it, if I hadn't tried CM9.
thank you all you guys, I will try it soon.

[Q] Best ICS ROM so far

Hi,
i'd like to know what is the best ICS Rom so far for LG O2x...
Last time i installed O2x ROM from NOVA kernel but still having some issues with:
1. Receptions / Signals (Specifically 3G/HSDPA)
2. Still get forced closed on some of the apps..
I am thinking about changing the kernel as well, but not too sure which kernel to use and how to install it (Presumably just download the *.zip and flash it through recovery).
Any suggestion?
p.s Since i am new here, i am unable to reply/post thread on development forum
i'm running novahd and no force closes so far. signal strength is ok even in bad signal areas. everything runs pretty much stable, except noticeable lag in comparison to cm7 or gingerbread whatsoever.
i'm keeping an eye on eaglesblood as it's not cm based (pure aosp) and looks like V20 basebands & rils are working, but didn't tried it yet.
yes, kernel installation goes thru cwm recovery. just choose install zip from sdcard and run it. jarvis kernel seems less stable than novahd kernel; didn't tried harsh and hp kernels yet but will in next few days.
Also running nova HD for me it works very good! Since v1.1 no random shutdowns anymore with nova kernel. Best battery runtime since ever!
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
I'm trying out the eaglesblood rom and so far i'm finding it good, better reception than I was getting on CM7 and it seems like fewer bugs too. Really enjoying having ICS on my phone at last though
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
I'm on tamasek's CM7 and I+m loving it, its very stable and quick, no problems whatsoever.
I never tried one of the ICS roms because TBH I never found ICS that appealing, never thought it was anything special so I dont want to change from CM7 until CM9 gets as good as it can. JB, however, I cant wait to try.

IMO, the current best build
is the Hellfire sandwich port from the SU660
solely based on some of the software tweaks to add speed, its probably the most stable ICS rom you can find for our phone.
best to keep with a good all round stable fast rom like DjangoManouche
but if you like trying out new things work away. ^.^

The good thing about Android is that you can try every ROM whenever you want. It just takes a few minutes. Install those ROMs and see which one best fits on your device.
Remember that every ICS ROM (CM9 and unofficial releases) don't work perfectly. For instance, hardware acceleration does not work on those ROMs.
If you want a more stable ROM you can try the unofficial release from temasek here. It is based on CM 7.2.
Just give each n every one a try and see which one best suits you....never hurts does it?
You should test each rom, so you can find out which fits to your needs.. don't be afraid to test a new rom, just do an nandroid backup and everything will be fine

Looking For Better UI and Apps ROM
I am searching for rom which has complete Look & Feel of Samsung Galaxy S3 & LG Optimus 4x HD.
It should be two different roms. Which has similar Launcher,User Interface, Stock Apps , Similar Calling Messaging features etc.
In short a complete Look & Feel of these type of hugely running phones. Till now all the ICS roms made by devs are based on Stock ICS Roms. It will be better to switch it to these types of modifications also.
Thank You

I wanted a ROM like this which is used in Samsung Galaxy S

I flashed NOVA HD, but after some days of regular usage it started lagging. Apps took too long to open.
Later I flashed Indroid Remics, the ROM settings on this ROM is very comprehensive and there are many tweaks included which can be customized. (sticking to it, till I find some thing better)
I like the NOVA HD and XXMrHyde, but stock browser and Dolphin HD crash a lot.
I am using Owain94 Domination 79, browser not crash.
Hellfire runs well. NoHW Acceleration, no HD Record, a no Go for me. Im back on Official cm7.
All runs how it should. On Nova, i had massive lags, especially by heavily multitasking.
Wait for Official ics. Then Ics Based Customs made Sense
