[Q] Kernel compatibility

Hey all!
I've jsut want to ask you, that how depends on the compatibility of a rom on a kernel? so what need to modify in a rom for being compatible with the specific kernel(nAa for exemple).
I've got no idea But if your point is to create a rom, I think you should start by working with the stock kernel for now

i've just want to make compatibile a rom with nAa11
From my experience the correct Kernel to use is always suggested by the developers of the ROM. For example the Minicm7-2.1.9 is built around the nAa Kernel and as far as I'm aware the ROM will only work with that Kernel.
CM7 suggests a FreeXperia Kernel which comes with the ROM (e.g. FX043) - I've not had any luck with this kernel and ROM myself. I did get the CM7 ROM installed with the nAa kernel but it kept freezing up.
Always try the suggested kernel or search for compatable kernel for the ROM you want to use. Of course you can always try to load any rom to any kernel and experiment / hope for the best as I have....
Hope this helped.

{Q} how to SAFELY change my kernel ?

Hello every one
Question is ..... about the safest method to flash a Kernel and Chang the ROM
am running ICS 4.0.3 KingDroid NoteMania V3
with franco kernel 3.0.15
am reading a lot about EMMC bug ... but i cant decide if my kernel have this bug or not
>>> how can i know if this kernel have this bug ?
>>> what is the best way to move to a safe kernel ? "and feel free :crying:"
Don't worry. Just use this application to check if you have brick bug. Franco's kernel is safe from the brick bug. You can use the jBroid cleaning script before changing kernels for a clean install. Be safe. you can also choose between Speedmod , GL note core and Franco's kernels, all of them having the emmc bug disabled.

If not you can also flash abyss kernel (wich is GB) or revert to GB firmaware, make a full wipe and then reflash ICS....always make sure that u check first to be in a safe kernel....:good:

flash abyss 4.2 touchrecovery, reboot recovery
install jbrid kernel cleaning script and flash your choosen kernel.

Can I flash this directly to this?

I wanna install Kingdroid 3.0
Currently on rooted Kernel Version [email protected] #2
Can i just download the whole packaged which contained fransco's kernel v3.0 and flash it straight via CWM recovery?
Then after that install the rom?
current kernel > fransco's kernel > install ICS rom???

What u can do is flash abyss kernel (which is GB) and then reboot recovery from advance options. Then full wipe and just then u can flash ICS rom.
I guess that Franco's kernel is safe but not sure and it is not worth the risk....
Any GB firmware or kernel is safe to wipe. Also all the roms that are built from source such as CM9 are also safe....

Ahh if you are already in GB then, there's no need to flash another GB kernel or firmware Sorry, I am new to the Note and I am not used to the names yet.
If you are rooted already you can flash an overclocked kernel or install SetCPU or other daemon controlloer that allows you to overclock the CPU, there's no need to use a custom rom for it...

best kernel

Hey guys im a newbie to captivate and its developments and i need your help..............
i came from the htc g2 where there is no needed for flashing kernels for backing up roms/restoring or for wifi issues, everything was pretty much straight forward after root , but with the captivate you need a specific kernel for somethings to work...i need to backup roms and restore it......so my question which kernel comes alreaady rooted/hack to flash with odin and support wifi, clockwork, backup with clockwork recovery and everything ?
plus after flashing the kernel can i flash a recovery via rom manager?
i want a kernel that supports must miui roms and asop roms (ex: ics, jellybean)
and flashing kernels dosent break/erase root right?
PS: does a rom come with its own kernel?
Devil3 kernel 1.4.1 work just great for my JB MIUI 2.9.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847668 - this rom has both latest MIUI and latest devil3 kernel

do i lose root or have to root everytime i flash a new kernel
or when i flash a rom
Devil Kernel is best on JB ROMs. Corn Kernel on GB. Every ROM comes with a kernel in it. It depends on the ROM. Reading is important.
Ok...so I rooted with corn kernel and flashed xm7...but asphalt 7 is too slow...can I flash a kernel to make the game faster ex: devil kernel and keep the Tom with root

[Q] Flashin kernels on I9000B

I have a I9000B with the oficial cm10 stable(Android 4.1.2), and I want to flash a kernel for it. I'm new to this kernel thing.
Do I need a custom kernel? If so, which one? Also, flashing the kernel will make me lose something, like apps or user data?
