Help with server costs
:cal SetSyn("html")
FAQRead ALL of this before posting in this thread! Thanks.
Q: I don't use the on-screen softkeys. How do I remove the navigation bar?
A: Go into Hybrid Properties --> Interface, under Workspace drag the slider for "Navigation Bar Size" to 0%.
Q: How do I disable the dual-pane layout that is preset in some apps (Settings, Gmail, etc.)?
A:Go into Hybrid Properties --> Apps and choose the app that you want to change. In the top right hand corner, click "Reset" and it will change the DPI and the layout of that app to the Workspace default that you have set. If your default Workspace is phablet / tablet UI but you want a specific app to not have the dual-pane layout, then go into Hybrid Properties --> Apps and set the specific app to phone UI.
Q: Some ROM Control options do not work?
A: ROM Control is still a WIP as of right now. The frameworks part of ROM Control has yet to be merged, so that's why some settings are blank. Please give some time, and it will be fixed in the near future.
ROMControl is now fixed and mostly working.
Q: Why did some of Hybrid Properties options disappear in the new update?
A: Go into Hybrid Properties --> Tools, and check Expert Mode and more settings will appear.
Q: How to I disable the PIE controls?
A: Go to Toolbars --> PIE Trigger Size and set that to none.
Awesome!
But...the links don't work, and I see quincyatt in your device list but no quincytmo...
But I will continue to be hopeful!

It should be arriving soon. I just submitted the changes for for this device to the build farm. It'll take 'em a bit to catch up.
Awesome ROM so far only trouble I have is sometimes does not wake back up very easily

The 9-04 build zip is up and available, running it now.
Thanks for building for us tmo folks...both of us!

Haha. Really? Just 2 of you? Surely there's a few more LOL. Enjoy. I run the AT&T Note myself so testing anything may be - ummm - a bit odd if there are problems. Fortunately the devices are so similar that there should be little to no difference between them. I think the only difference is the radio/modem.
After a few hours, so far, so good. No reboots or anything.
I have usually just injected files into the ATT roms to have some choice but this is definitely a welcome sight to see a new rom here on the T-Mobile side of the house.
Thanks!

On the AT&T phones there are sometimes lock screen issues. These are being worked on. If you have one set you might want to set it to "none" if you intend to run the rom. Lots of things being fixed. It will only get better!!
Tyvm much for all your hard work really love this phone not ready to give up on her..

So you probably have adb installed or you should. If not, here is a thread.
It is explained in that thread better, but basically, once adb is running and you can access your phone, plug it in and type:
"adb logcat > wifi-not-working-9-06.txt"
Then, after wifi drops once or twice, close the command window. You now have a log file in that directory, wherever you did it. You can attach that log here I guess if AD5GB wants to look at it.
Wifi was OK for me as I recall on this rom.
Too bad looks like the builds are not completing lately.

WiFi is working on AT&T. Since I don't have the T-Mobile version of the phone it might be a bit but yes a logcat will definitely help speed things up. I understood this to be working on the tmo.
If you don't have the ADK, adb or don't wish to fool with it, there's an app called CatLog that works pretty well on rooted phones.
Builds for all phones are struggling lately due to the huge number of changes and fixes being comitted. The code repository is very often in such an inconsistent state that parts of the ROM just won't compile thus borking the builds. If you are curious you can check the logs to see just where it failed, though sometimes the reason isn't always quite clear to someone unfamiliar with development. It will get better. This I promise!!!!

Flashing this now... Not bad! A little jumpy in the beginning after first boot, ui glitching kinda like an old tv. Runs smooth, quick, everything I need (wifi, data, phone calls, web browsing, etc) works. Definitely could be used as my daily driver I think. After the first boot, no glitches that I have seen as of yet.
Since this is based off of CM does it still need to be flashed in Slot-1?
EDIT: Stupid question, of course it's Slot-1!
Just. Wow. My S3 has been sporting this for a while, but I didn't expect the love for the D4.
Using the acceleration options under Development Settings (to use the GPU) caused flickering, jiggling and color shifts; I do have a few overlay apps in addition to PIE, though, like the under appreciated Swipe Pad).
I still notice the whole system intermittently stuttering and freezing for a few seconds, so I'm working on stripping down my installed apps to see if it's any particular app, or maybe just too much going on. Otherwise absolutely no problems or errors.
Works great with latest pa full gapps as well as TS crack flasher 5 inverts.
Thank you for such a solid job !

It looks like AOSP on boot but it has theme chooser.
It has app color change issue in paranoid settings. You can't see the colors you want to chose.. It's because of the resolution.

Mobile phone standard used across almost the entire world except by a couple of American carriers such as Verizon.
The stock Droid 4 supports both, most of the custom ROMs don't seem to be so good at it unless they're stock-based.

It's the 3g technology that you see AT&T and T-Mobile tout as "4g" in their commercials.
does the new update reduce all the glitching?

I ran it all day yesterday and didn't notice any glitches. Real smooth. Only thing I didn't like about it was how small the a lot of the text is. Particularly in the settings menu. Maybe I just need so new glasses. LOL But the customization options are phenomenal.

It won't DL for me on my phone. It just sits at "downloading" but never makes any progress.
I'll try on the computer.

Did the same thing for me when using chrome. Tried it in native browser which worked fine.

Installs okay
Swipe on AOSP keyboard creates a FC
Also, cannot root.
Tried a couple methods.
I'm with you on the root thing. Must have tried 5 different ways lol.

Just checked with Firefox in Linux and it sent me to the main 4.3 folder. Weird. Link is set to what it should be.

Just did some swyping on AOSP and it worked just fine for me.
I linked the CMW Superuser 4.3 Rooting zip in the OP. Its what I used and I have working root.
For Gapps, I used the link in the OP, downloaded both the full and minimal zips (full is older). I then flashed Full for all the standard Market Gapps then MInimal for all the updated Core Gapps.

I've noticed that too. I think that's kernel/device error. Dev Team is pushing commits that might be related to that right now, gonna give a few hours to see if more is committed and compile. Also gonna submit us and the other Moto Phones to PAC 4.3 today or tomorrow -- I was honestly expecting this to run like crap the first few builds -- very glad I was wrong and very happy I have a new daily to run. I'll be on 4.3 for now on.
My install goes as follows
Full Backup Cycle (Hybrid Settings, Nandroid, Titanium, Launchers, Anything that has a backup feature that I use regularly)
Full Wiping -- Data, Dalvik, Cache, System
Flash PAC 4.3
Flash Gapps Full
Flash Gapps Minimal
Flash CWM Root Zip
Boot System
Cancel Google Play Updates
Restore TB, Hybrid, Launcher, Anything Else (do it in that order, yes there is a reason)
Let Google Play Update if necessary
Reboot and Enjoy

Its either that or dirty flash and complain about "bugs" on XDA. I usually wait till Adult Swim is on and do my rom flashing then. And yes, way too much time :silly:
Has anyone else besides Skeevy been able to obtain root?
I've been trying all morning
I never dirty flash and I know how to follow instructions. Still, I cannot get get root access

Also have been trying with SU beta 2 and 4 from Koush and still nothing. Also clean flash and followed directions
EDIT: Just tried with Chainfires' SuperSU and still nothing. This is bothering me.

The only other things I've done were enabling developer settings by tapping the build version over and over again and giving root permission for apps and adb in developer settings.
On my first 4.3 install I installed SuperSu from the market (the su binary was installed on the phone, just not an Su app). That didn't work so I flashed a SuperSu root zip. That didn't work so I flashed the CWM zip. That didn't work, caught fire, burned down, and sunk into the swamp. So I started over using the instructions I posted earlier and my only real issues is the battery drains a bit more than usual (kinda expected that), some minor screen tearing, some minor lag, and that's about it. While I haven't done everything, everything I have done has worked.

Hmm I don't see su in /bin
Does it go somewhere else in 4.3?
Has nobody had any luck with the zip I posted in this thread for root? It worked for me on cm10.2 . I take no credit for the zip just passing it along cause it worked

PACman FAQ
PIE FAQ
Q. What is PIE?
A. PIE is a new way to interact with your notifications. It provides easy gesture based interaction with all your system information without taking up valuable screen space.
Q. How do I access Pie?
A. Swipe your finger from the pie gravity edge (default is the bottom) toward the center of your screen. While keeping your finger on the screen, drag your finger to the desired button and release to click.
Q. My PIE doesn't look like the ones in the screenshots. I don't see the Clock or notifications.
A. Notifications work either through the status bar or PIE. If the status bar is enabled, PIE reverts to just the softkeys. To enable the full PIE experience, enable Expanded Desktop by going to Settings -> System -> Power Menu -> Expanded Desktop (Status bar hidden). Access the power menu and turn Expanded Desktop on.
Q. How do I change PIE colors?
A. Go to Settings -> Hybrid Properties -> Interface and change the Navigation bar color.
Q. Buttons or keyboard rows near the edge of my screen are nonresponsive.
A. PIE's trigger area overlay is covering the edge of your screen. Change either the Trigger Area or Pie Gravity in Settings -> System -> PIE Settings.
Q. I don't like PIE, how do I turn it off?
A. To disable PIE set Trigger Area to None in Settings -> System -> Pie Settings. Remember to disable Expanded Desktop to turn status bar on again.
ROM FAQ
Q.Do I need to do a full wipe before installing this ROM?
A. Unless coming from a previous version of PACman it is highly recommended to do a full wipe before installing. This includes coming from ParanoidAndroid ROMs.
Q.What do the settings in Hybrid Properties do?
A. ParanoidAndroid has an extensive guide to the settings at this thread: [GUIDE][PARANOIDANDROID] A Complete Compendium on ParanoidPreferences [PA-Settings] Please do not post questions related to PA Settings in this thread, they are not ROM specific and all we'll do is point you to that thread.
Q.How do I turn on the Navigation Bar??
A.To enable the NavBar open Hybrid Properties, swipe the screen to the right to peek through to the menu.
Select Interface, now set your desired NavBar size with the slider.
Q.Something isn't working. What do I do?
A. First, make sure you are running the latest stable version. Try a backup data using Titanium and do a full wipe reinstall. If the problem persists, report what it is and what triggers it so the dev can duplicate it.
Q.What is a Experimental Build?
A. Experimental Builds are Linaro builds including O3 strict-aliasing optimizations with highly optimized TWRP recovery and a Over and Under clocked Recovery. They may get updated every week or so. These Builds can be potentially harmful to your device and are not supported by the dev by any means
Q.Can we flash this on Locked Bootloader?
A. No, This requires custom kernel and can never be flashed on locked bootloaders

The alpha phase of the release life cycle is the first phase to begin software testing. Alpha quality software has undergone only the most superficial of testing. It may contain known bugs, and almost certainly contains unknown bugs.
Installed this rom with gapps from slim and temasek kernel. Good impression. :good: Thanks.

No.
You can turn off dual panel. Go to Settings-Hybrid properties-Apps, choose Settings, and set Size to 320, and Layout to 360p.
Sorry guys I was in a rush doing the thread before work. I'll update the FAQ and parts of the thread tonight or over the next couple of days.
Until we start rolling out nighlies I'll be posting builds every second day or so depending on the amount of changes. Most patches from our gerrit from today have been included in this release.

Have installed ROM. Full wipe but on boot I have no keyboard and therefore can't do anything.

Is it possible to install over pacman 4.2.2 RC1 like you would normally install nightlies?
I'm getting 'Stopped working errors' for:
- dialer (the phone app)
- android.process.acore
Did anyone manage it?
I think its too much work to wipe everything and go through the process of setting up everything for 4.3 android that doesn't bring anything new.

Also I recommend blocking the wakelock for Audio in, it's draining the battery and disabling it didn't make any difference for me. If you however encounter any issues unblock the wakelock

I think it is a kernel problem. Device gets hot in cwm recovery while restore/make a backup . You can test it if you use boot.img from cm10.2 = normal temp.

Logcats
@Abhinav2
I am posting here bunch of logcats. Thay all end by system crash and they are named accordingly.
I also took cat of /proc/kmsg and name it next to the according logcat.
I hope that it can help heat and stability issue.
Logs
Changing the governors does help with the heating issue. Battery life is still pretty bad, and in fact it's on all kit kat roms for V.

But not when charging. The stability is the biggest problem, when I run Ingress I have system crash guaranteed.

wakelocks are related to the permission of keep awake the phone, so you will see that there are some apps that keep your phone awake especially in the "position" tab, i remeber that google service is one of these apps, disabling all apps that use position and keep awake your phone you can gain 2 or 3 hours of battery...
Thanks alot.
Now my phone doesent start Plus i cant flash the phone to another rom.
Real great work !

Activate Mobile Data
Flashed, it's not making it past the activate mobile data service screen. I can skip that part of the setup, but then I have no data service. Any idea?
Tried to run GPS Status and got this...
???
After everything is set up I cannot access settings and the keyboard stopped working.

Alright guys, sorry for these issues. I have a gsm model but these builds were supposed to be unified. I'll see what I can't figure out and let y'all know.

No worries.

Copy that about fixing.
I don't think GPS works at all. Tried some other apps and GPS tools, and got nothing.
Switched to sense ROM to get lock, then restored this backup, and still a no go.
Yeah, the GPS is a bit wonky. I was able to get it to tell me where I was with Google Maps by clicking the little circular icon in the lower right corner of Google Maps and it could then show me the route step-by-step to get to my destination but each time I had to refocus on the Google Maps application i received a message that "Turn by turn navigation is not supported on devices with no GPS hardware." Or something very close to that message.....flashed over to CM 11 for the m8 and google maps works just fine. I see you've already said you're working on it so good luck, not trying to pester, just trying to help with some additional user experience. I like this ROM a lot so I hope you get it working soon! =)
P.S. Where did you see they were unified? I'm curious if they are going to unify all these M8 carrier variants like they did with the moto_msm8960 unified build?
Would be great if so, the international M8 device thread is overflowing with custom ROMs.....we have 2. lol. =)
Does anyone know how easy or difficult it would be to get the double-tap wake feature? For a phone like this it's rather necessary. The damn button is just too high.
Incidentally I was able to easily use some apps and/or shortcuts to enable a double tap feature to close the screen. But I can't find any apps that would allow for waking the phone.
Other than that little thing I'm really liking this ROM. I used it with my SGS3 and I don't plan on leaving it. Pacman Rocks!
Just wanted to see where this stands guys, used to do some testing with Jamie on jewel. Is the cm theme chooser being used?
Sent from my Sprint M8 Running the latest Viper
Hopefully we can get this working!!

Yeah there is almost always a current nightly for the M8 and if you view in the Pac Console within the ROM it will show you all the new commits and what's not in your ROM already that was added. There is not always something updated specifically for the M8 as far as i can tell....but the ROM continues to evolve and remain compatible with the M8whl. ^^
