It’s unofficial but it’s working. This CWM Recovery was posted by NormanD in the forum. And I give the credits to him and thanks to the effort for finally making CWM Recovery possible on LG Optimus L7. And now, the long wait is over. Here it is!
Download the tool
Instructions for installing CWM custom recovery on LG Optimus L7:
Download the attachment and unpack it in the root of your C: drive. It will create a folder C:\L7CWM.
Make you have ‘USB Debugging’ enabled. Phone should be in “Charge only” mode.
Plug your LG Optimus L7 to PC via USB cable.
Open the folder c:\L7CWM and run the file Flash_Bootloader.bat – this will unlock the bootloader and the phone should restart
Open again the same folder and run Flash_Recovery.bat – this will flash the new custom touch controlled recovery and phone should restart again.
If you want to use the recovery the simplest way – attached the phone via USB again and this time run Reboot2Recovery.bat file – the phone will restart, the LG logo will be displayed for a few seconds and the the phone will enter Recovery Mode.:laugh:

you must first remove the USB cable and then select USB Debugging, then after you select it,tick USB debugging, it will work that way

Yeah, It's the way to install the recovery on your LG L7. (P700/P705)...
Here is the link to get the zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38231332
1. Download the attachment l7cwm.zip and unpack it in the root of your C: drive. It will create a folder C:\L7CWM.
2. Attach your L7 P700/P705 phone via USB cable. 'USB Debugging' option has to be active. Phone should be in "Charge only" mode.
3. Open the folder c:\L7CWM and run the file Flash_Bootloader.bat - this will unlock the bootloader and the phone should restart
4. Open again the same folder and run Flash_Recovery.bat - this will flash the new custom touch controlled recovery and phone should restart again.
5. If you want to use the recovery the simplest way - attache the phone via USB again and this time run Reboot2Recovery.bat file - the phone will restart, the LG logo will be displayed for a few seconds and the the phone will enter Recovery Mode.
P.S. : Extract all the files in C:\ drive only and run the script otherwise it will simply not work.
Not the best but it is a helpfull thread

Here is a very simple instruction on rooting LG GT540 when Universal Androot doesn't work:
1. Download and extract the attached package.
2. Connect the phone in "USB Debbuging Mode"
3. Doubleclick "root.bat" (extracted from the package)
4. Wait for the console to shut down and the phone to reboot.
The credit for this method goes probably to people from Modaco.
Since this is my first post and i am still not allowed to post links from external servers i won't give any mirrors for unregistered users. Sorry.
Any confirmation that this works?
It sounds just too easy!
Bakuj, you can PM me with link to the modaco forum, I cant find topic with this root method!
Cheers!
Rooted yesturdamy with this, works fine
I rooted my phone yesterday using that method.
I ran each line of code separately though as i had issues running the .bat file
Thanks a lot
Froyo?
I have a TMO Optimus T w/ FROYO. Will this work on it?
You can give it a try. But first look at the name of this forum section. It is for GT540.
I have made a new version which includes both root and app2sd.Named 1 click autorootapp2sd .
You can access the guide at modaco . The file is attached.Turn on usb debugging mode and run autorootapp2sd.bat.
Nice and handy ^^ thanks
ROOT for recovery:
1. Grab this file mediafire.com/?rc8g496og3482dx
2. Update.zip copy directly to an SD card
3. Reset the phone and start the recovery mode
4. Select the option to apply sdcard: update.zip
5. Root been made
Application was added to the package:
root explorer, superuser and busybox
Thanks a lot arekl1988r
but how can i unroot it?
flash the original GT540 ROM with lg software?
Yeah it should work. Also you can try a factory reset (never tested).
Hi Rooting will void my warrenty??
Im trying to root my phone.
I have USB debugging mode on the phone, and i tried running root.bat both as an administrator and a user.
I get stuck here (see attachement)
What have i done wrong?
I can see: device not found, try Turn USB Debugging ON
It is on, i also rebooted the phone.
Ok, so try this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

Hello guys,
I have a big problem!
which is that my power button not work...
and I don't have any problem with it because I use trackball to unlock my phone .. and using (quick boot) for rebooting...
BUT,,, Yesterday I have change my ROM to (ICS) which is sdk version, and I know that...
the ICS url:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314781&page=7
whatever,,,, the wifi is not work ! the data(3G) is not work ! the Bluetooth is not work ! so how to enter the recovery mode to return my previous ROM ?!
Help me please!
Any help plzzzzz
just use quick boot but select either recovery or bootloader depending on which option you need
ICS is new enough that I don't know if this will work, but in Gingerbread and lower, you can use adb to do it.
Make sure Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging Mode is enabled. Then go to the computer type
Code:
adb reboot recovery

This is a long and hard procedure, but should work if you are not able to use adb or if you don't find a better solution. You will have to power on your device using the battery trick one time or two:
Pull out the battery.
Copy the passimg.zip to the root of your sdcard.
Power on the n1 with the battery trick. You have to keep the vol- button pressed while booting.
Install the passimg file
Root your phone (oneclickroot is fine).
Reboot with adb or with battery trick.
Install quickboot and rommanager
Install recovery.
Use quickboot to enter in recovery and restore your backup.
Hope this helps

-Upgrade to 2.2 Froyo
-look for a Z4Root QR Code
-Scan the Z4Root QR code using Google Goggles or w/e
-Install it using astro or a file manager app
-look for Z4root tutorials on youtube
-????
-Profit
You don't need the computer at all but for looking up tutorials IF you are confused that is.
You need to install the phone drivers on your PC, than you can use oneclickroot. Reboot, install quickboot, recovery and you are done ;-)

Hi all
I did not receive the OTA so I decided to manually update my nexus s (I9020XXK1)
Unfortunately the navigation works only on wi-fi. Although the data navigation is turned on the mobile does not download email etc.
I thought it was a problem with widgetsoid and I disinstalled it but the problem is still there.
I also tried to update the APN via "APN Italiani" but the programs shows the generic message that "he encountered an error"
My question: do you have any idea how to work it out? and also: is there a program similar to widgetsoid for a dummy (me)?
thanks a lot

just flash a customer rom like aosp + (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397358) -> all works
it would be even worst! I already tried but I'm a dummy and couldn't do it
at home I have a mac and could not get a propor procedure. now (at work) I have a pc but no administrator rights.
if there is an easy way to do it then I will give it a try but I would need a "guide for dummies"

View attachment 1784756
Start the upgrade clicking in the yellow arrow on the top/left of the program window.
Three (3) ports will look like comunicating (in the next image you'll see only two cause I'm not really flashing), but
only one is the right one. Two of them will stay stucked in x% and a third port will go higher. Memorize the one that goes higher cause is that one.
In my case, this time was the nr. 3.

Close the program and re-start it. This time, go to "port settings" and select only the port that you memorized,
start the upgrade and you just need to wait for the phone to reboot.
In case of that port fails, choose one of the other two untill you hit the good one.
If you don't see 3 ports, its something wrong and probably this won't work...
Easy
To set manually the port to "1", connect the phone in S/W Mode, open windows "Device Manager",
select “LGE CDMA USB Serial Port”, right click in "properties", connection settings advanced and set it to “com41″

I don't know if it works in Win8 but, you can try it...
that doesn't work either, since it wont do anything after i try to check what ports are working, all are just grayed out

You install the drivers?
Phone was connected in S/W mode?
Be sure that you follow every step on the tutorial, sometimes with the rush we jump some...
God luck :fingers-crossed:
silly me... had to run lgflashtool as admin
did not work either, only got 1 port active, and it failed to download the file to my phone
I cannot get ADB to work with the instructions provided here:

You need to enable developer options & USB debugging.

Does 'adb devices' report your device as offline? If so, you need newer adb binaries. I've created a zip with the newest adb binaries and am hosting it. I'll post a link if you'd like.

In the PC connection settings theres goto connection type and in the top left corner there is a little button that looks like a download button. Hit that and it will open up on your PC as an install disc that will install the adb drivers and lg mobile support program that'll keep the drivers up to date. Then. Open the android SDK manager and make sure your platform tools are fully updated

For CM:
Go to Settings->About Phone and tap on the Build Number 7 - 8 times. You should see a Toast message popup that says "You're now a developer". Back out of About Phone to Settings. You should see a entry "Developer Options" just above "About Phone".
I haven't been on stock for many many months. If you're running stock it may be different. I honestly don't remember.
