For Xperia Z JB 4.2.2
Mods have been updated to replace only the png files of the signal status and battery in your systemui.apk instead of replacing the whole file. This will prevent any incompatibility problems that a few experienced before due to the different framework between stock and custom roms.
Would like to give credit to Drummerjed for kindly offering his help in fixing the files. You can check out his boot animation here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391604&nocache=1.
3 Different mods:
One with IOS7 Signal status and BLUE Honami battery, GREEN Honami battery and WHITE Honami Battery.
As always, please make a backup of your rom before flashing zips.
Based on post by LitoNi (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2409210) but has 3 soft-key buttons instead of 5.

For those of you who want 3 soft-keys.
* IOS style signal status
* Blue battery (Green when charging)
* Soft-keys same as on Honami rom (3 standard buttons, Slightly smaller than stock.... I think it's either 32ppi or 36ppi).
Sorry, but don't have extra time for requests. Just thought others might be interested so posting.

Try wiping dalvik cache. It will reset your wallpaper but you can always change it back.
If all else fails you can extract systemui.apk and copy it manually via root explorer or something and change permissions. If your phone resets automatically make sure you fix permissions in recovery before it reboots.

I did it (moved to system, added permissions, moved to system/app), them I wiped cache and dalvic. When phone turned on, there were no statusbar or navbar. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Or maybe it's only for Honami framework?

Just confirming t's not a typo but it should be under /system/app/
If doing manually, permissions to be changed after it's been copied to directory by file manager or recovery.
Also, I assume that your on JB 4.2.2?
Should work for both the latest updates .423 & .244. Honami is based on stock so shouldn't be an issue if your not using the Honami rom.
I'm guessing you need to correctly set permissions if copying manually. It should be: -rw -r -r (just check other apps in /system/app folder).

Thanks for correcting me.
No way of doing so: if you move directly to system/app, phone will shut down immediately. After changing permissions in system folder it will stay if you move it to subfolder. I was doing so with every manually installing mod.
And yes, I'm on latest firmware by RomAur (based on 244)
I'm pretty sure that I gave rw r r permissions (644), but I'll try again.

Tried modding the png files. Problem is that once you increase the size there are overlaps with the other graphics so it will look like there is something wrong.

Hmmm, that's wierd. I tested it on Honami rom and backup of latest stock firmware and works fine.
Not sure if it would make a difference but you could try fix permissions and wipe dalvik cache in recovery?
Alright I do not have odex working according to ArchEnemy', which is where I modded his version.
As of now, I cannot get center clock to work with 3 navi keys, only 5 keys. Ive tried editing the basic status bar file but I might be editing the wrong one, therefore im waiting for his reply to and hopefully to get it working with 3 navi keys.
If anyone who cant wait and doesnt mind the 5 navi keys (ive made the power key and the menu key invisible, it is still there, you just cant see it), you can try flashing the file below. Remember to back up your rom fully, just in case anything happens.

Restore the backup you made before flashing it.
You did make a backup didnt you.
If not try finding the small apps in another thread and flashing them, I am sure I have seen a thread with them in before. Or extract them from a stock based rom and manually put them in system/app
ok i solved it already. Just put the smallapps to system/aps like you said

Hey Guys DJ here! I thought to make this guide for all people who want smaller onscreen keys/softkeys/navigation bar [the home, back and recent apps keys] on their Xperia Z. People would say that you could've provided some framework-res.apks with different sizes of softkeys! But they would be size specific and people have their own choices hence I am telling you guys how to make them yourselves! By the way this works on all android 4.+ devices!
What's the advantage of doing this? You get a bigger screen as your apps get rescaled automatically!
First of all Your Xperia Z should be rooted ,DEODEXED and unlocked! You can refer to DoomLord's tutorial for that!
You should have the knowledge on how to use flashtool or how to create nandroid backups in clockworkmod recovery incase something goes wrong!
Disclaimer:
You are doing this on your own risk , blah blahblahblahblahblah!
By the way cmd means command prompt window!
Let's Begin:
First of all make a backup of your rom by going into the recovery ! Its good to have one incase something goes wrong!
To DO on your XZ-
1) Install root explorer
2) Navigate to system/framework/
3) Copy 'framework-res.apk' and 'SemcGenericUxpRes.apk' from that location to your SDcard.
4) Now connect your XZ to your PC.
To DO on your PC-
1) Install apktool v3 [you can find it easily on google! ]
2) After you are done with installing apktool open a cmd window in that location [ you can do that by right clicking in that window while keeping the shift key pressed, then click on the open command window here option from the drop down menu which appers].
3) Copy framework-res.apk and SemcGenericUxpRes.apk from your SDcard to your PC to the location where your apktool files are present.
4) Now in the cmd window which you opened earlier you need to type some commands -
apktool if framework-res.apk
now press 'enter key'
then
apktool if SemcGenericUxpRes.apk
press enter
The above 2 lines have installed the framework-res.apk and SemcGenericUxpRes.apk to your system which the apktool will later use as resources to decompile the framework-res.apk
now we need to decompile the framework-res.apk, for this type
apktool d framework-res.apk framework-res
it will perform a series of functions just wait for it till its finished!
when its done you will see that there is a new folder 'framework-res' in the window[location] where you have installed the apktool!
navigate to framework-res/res/values/
open dimens.xml using noteped++[yeah forgot to say that you need to install this too! ]
look for the lines 'navigationbar height' and navigationbar width'
the default size would be 48! just reduce it to what ever you want! 28 is recommended by me ! height = 28 and width= 24
Save the changes.
Now switch to the cmd window again
We are going to re-compile the framework-res.apk-
type-
apktool b framework-res framework-res-new.apk
when its done then you will have the new framework-res-new.apk with smaller softkeys!
5) Now copy it to your SDcard
6) Disconnect your XZ
7) Open root explorer in your XZ.
8) Copy the 'framework-res-new.apk' to your system/
9) Long press it and click on permissions
10) set it to rw-r--r--[1st row + + - ; 2nd row + - - ; 3rd row + - -][+ means ticked and - means unticked]
11) once done , rename the 'framework-res-new.apk' to 'framework-res.apk'.
12) Copy it to system/framework/
13) Press Yes when it asks to replace the original.
14) Then reboot your XZ [it might force reboot itself].
15) Done! now you have smaller softkeys! Enjoy!
Please report the results as I don't have an Xperia Z but this method has been tried and tested on my Xperia Neo V by me!
Press the thanks button below if you found this helpful!

Well that doesn't work much well!
You see I had once done it on stock and almost all the apps of playstore became incompatible with my neo v!
As when we decrease the dpi we are decreasing the resolution too! I changed mine from 240 to 160 and xperia home stopped working along with many other apps!
Its safe to change dpi on roms like paranoid android! But its not recommended on stock!

Semi Transparent COLORED backpanel with invisible music and camera buttons and more
The buttons are still there (invisible), which means you are still able to swipe right for music and left for camera, just that the backpanel (which originally supposed to be solid grey) is now semi colored transparent (roughly 10%). The COLOR of the semi transparent bar changes depending on the most dominant color of the wallpaper. Along with other mods available, such as, removed clock, everything removed...

Its not that hard to move the apk into system/app and change the permission to rw-r-r and reboot.
i think thats faster than booting in recovery and flashing it.
if you have a rom to flash, you can just put the apk under system/app and flash it.
or try zipping it with other flashable zip contents and flash from there.

Since KITKAT is released everyone want to install it
But due to some reasons we dont have CM11

This mod can be used on other devices also...
Just push the system ui in system and add the following lines in build.prop
"##Navbar
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0"
Remove that "
If you are using the device having similar size to L3 then u have to resize navbar
So follow the given steps
Step1: Take framework-res.apk from the rom on which u are going to use this mod
Step2: Decompile it.
Step3: Navigate to res>values>dimens
Step4: Find navbar height & change the value from 48 to 36
Step5:Save,recompile & push in system.............

Will it work on any ICS?
Will this mod work on any ICS ROM Like This ROM? Also where exactly in the system folder we have to put this file in I guess its should go inside /system/framework. Correct me if I'm wrong

I think it wont work for the rom which you specified..[i am not sure]..
yea directly if you paste it in framework folder...previous framework of rom will be replaced which makes phone not to boot[reason:as permissions are not set correctly]..
so first paste it in System folder, change permissions and then move apk to framework folder.. reboot enjoy..
Press Thanks if i helped you..

It'll work..but it'll contain tw files in it...it is a bad idea to paste directly....create a flashable package, nd flash it via recovery. naresh why don't you create flashable zip for it? Btw i am using 18dip...it is good too.
