[Q] No sound on either end of calls after rooting and unlocking - Motorola Atrix HD

Okay, so, I rooted and unlocked my Atrix HD yesterday. I used the tools by Dan Rosenburg to do both. Everything was easy, quick and nothing went wrong. I have not flashed a ROM or anything. It's still stock. Everything is working as usual on the phone. I played with it all night last night. However, when making and receiving calls today, there is no sound on either end. Now, these are all WiFi calls using Google Voice, etc. because there is no SIM in this phone. The only other thing I could mention is after installing ROM Manager, I installed the CWM for the Motorola Photon after seeing a thread on here that it would work with the Atrix HD, and I was too scared to try to do it manually for fear of a brick. But, when I tried to do a backup, I just got the little android with a red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle coming out of his tummy. Has anyone ever heard of this happening or have any suggestions/solutions? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Please go easy on me! Thank you very much in advance!

That recovery hasn't worked well in quite some time. Use the new touch version located in development.

Thanks. I saw that. I was just iffy about trying to install it as I am not well versed in the ways of Android. But I tried to do a backup of my stock again, and I waited for 2 freaking hours and when it finally finished, it said error! So, I'm going to have to install the one for our phone. I'm afraid to try to flash a rom with it,and I don't want to until I get a back up anyway, so, we'll see.

Okay fellas, this is resolved. Whomever has the great authority can delete this thread. I was at work when I made this post after my boyfriend called me from the landline, after many unsuccessful calls to my work from the atrix hd, to tell me the phone had no sound on calls. Before you shake your head at me, shake it at him because as soon as I got home, I rebooted it and it worked fine. I honestly did not think I had to ask someone if they had restarted a phone if it was messing up. Is that not the first thing anybody would do? Anyway, just delete the thread because it is null. Thanks anyway!

Odd Problems after flash of Cyanogen

Hey guys, I've got an odd problem and am hoping somebody out there can help me out.
I bought a nexus one a while ago and promptly rooted it and installed cyanogen's 5.0.6 mod. I followed the guide on XDA to the letter and had no problems at all. Cyanogen's mod was great and the trackball alert pro was amazing.
My brother saw my phone and after his jailbroken iPhone called it quits he bought one offline from www.google.com/phone. He asked me to unlock it and put cyanogen's mod on there.
I used the same files, that I did for my phone, and followed the same steps listed on the guide to the letter, just as I did for my own phone. I didn't change one thing in the process.
However, after booting past that lovely cyan colored x and getting into the phone, it would randomly reboot, and then get stuck at the solid X logo, forcing me to take out the battery. I would take it out, wait 30 seconds, put it back in, only to have it happen again.
I thought it was a wiping issue, so I redid everything to no avail. I even put everything back to stock, and tried once again doing everything I had done for my phone to no avail. I can't figure it out and it's frustrating me. All the files are the same that I used on my phone, nothing is different except the phone, yet whenever I install the Rom, it randomly reboots and gets stuck on the solid X logo.
So, as you can see I'm at a loss. I'm not sure why my phone works and his doesn't. FWIW his phone DOES NOT reboot when on stock everything, only when a custom ROM is on it. Also, I set my phone back to stock everything and re-rooted/flashed and have had no problem, yet when I do the same steps on his phone, random reboot/frozen.
Can anyone out there help?

Will rooting the Nexus one/Froyo cause problems?

Guys, I had someone here talk me through rooting my nexus one with froyo and I'm running into some problems but I didn't know if it had something to do with rooting it or not and the reason is, I got it rooted the same day I received it so I hadn't tried those functions before I got it rooted.
I got it rooted so I could buy this program that makes the fonts larger and it required a rooted phone.
Well, today I was going to try to use it as a hot spot or wifi router and when I tried to enable it, it just says error.
Also, when trying to call and talk to people today, they could barely hear me and I had a hard time hearing them (not sure if this was temporary or not because later, although in a different area, it sounded fine).
When trying to reply to some e mail (online email/godaddy) when I clicked where the text/body goes, I could not type anything 'cause the keyboard wouldn't come up. If I clicked in the email or subject areas, the keyboard came up but not in the body text area.
Any ideas?
I guess I could reset it to default settings to see what happens but it took almost two hours to get it rooted so I really would like to avoid that.
Thanks
George
This should be in Q&A!
Not dev related.
To solve your problem:
looks like a bad boot.img for me.
I always had "Activiating Wifi"... "Error" with bad boot.img.
MOD: move to Q&A
Thanks. I wasn't sure about where to put it and thought there was possibly bigger chance of a reply here. Thanks for moving it.
So, considering I have NO idea what I'm doing and someone else helped me, is the answer to my next question short and simple or not?
What do I do about it?
No, I have no idea what a boot image is.
Should I try to get hold of the guy who helped me root it or see if someone else can talk me though how to fix it?
Thanks
George

Im not a Mod, I did not move your thread.
The boot.img is part of a ROM.
But I don't know what ROM you're using, what build (FRF50/72/85B/91) nor the kernel etc.
I cannot tell you more right now.
Just try a new rooter update.zip because yours might have broke your WiFi.
See Cyanogen's or re-flash a pre-rooted rom.
Actually, I noticed it wasn't moved yet but anyway, I think I have the 72 but still, not sure, I'll have to investigate 'cause I like this phone and I would LIKE it to work for me. Especially since I can apparently use it on tmobile and att.
THanks
The hunt continues
George
no rooting in general does not harm your phone or cause problems in any way. however it is possible to mess something up, maybe install something or screw up settings or similar that could cause problems. you can always flash back to factory ROM, or hard reset, to get your phone working again.
even better, since you are rooted, you should be creating nand backups. and anytime something goes wrong, you restore to a working nand backup to a state that you know your phone was working good.
Yeah, now I have to figure out how to do this but thanks for the replies

[Q] Please HELP 911

Hello All,
I'm new here, posted last week a couple times with an intro and some questions about Rooting and getting rid of bloatware.
Anyway, I rooted mt HTC Hero with Universal Androot. Went fine, no problems, installed a couple programs that needed root to test it out.
This morning I was trying to figure out how to do a nandroid backup so I could delete some of the bloatware. Most of the answers started you back at rooting manually, so when I ran across an app called ROM Manager (ClockWorkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1).
I read a bunch of reviews that gave high ratings. Went to the Market and in there as well, it was mostly great reviews (4 star).
Anyway, I downloaded and installed the app. Went to "Backup Current Rom". It rebooted the phone and the messages appeared to be normal (backing up *).
When it was done, my phone rebooted once more. Now nothing I do that requires web access works (dolphin, opera, market, etc.). Keep getting connection errors.
I CAN make and receive text and phone calls.
PLEASE help me. I LOVE this phone, PLEASE tell me that I haven't messed it up. I'm afraid to go back into ROM Manager and do a recovery. I went to their website and sent them an email but no response yet.
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric

Some of the 2.1 roms have issues with internet. Simply turning off mobile network and turning back on fixes it or turning airplane mode on and off fixes it also
Thank you

It worked. Man, I just got so nervous. Like I said, I LOVE this phone, the best phone I've ever had and I've been bragging about it to everyone I know for the last two weeks.
I guess I should have figured with the amount of postings on nandroid that it should be the only way to go. That's what I get for trying to take the easy way out.
Thanks again Papa Smurf

Most likely a Software Problem [help]

hi,
For starters I've had my G1 since it came out, been rooted for a while so i know what I've been doing.
Anyways.. I've checked the forums and I've seen similar problems like mine but not exactly the answers I need.
Basically my Digitizer is being unresponsive randomly and when this happens my entire phone just FC's everything. The first time i noticed this was when I would Charge my G1 using a Blackberry Charger when id text, the Screen would be unresponsive to touch on all of the screen and just lag on everything. So I would have to unplug it and re-plug it continually. Recently I switched to the new Cyan Rom (i forgot the number) and now it will just randomly be unresponsive with the touchscreen id go on apps and it will FC. Ive wiped and rebooted many times, ive switched roms multiple times as well. So I'm on my last resort and asking for help.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Try to upgrade to the 27.08 Radio/SPL combo. Follow all of the instructions contained within that post. It will suggest you also re-install your recovery. Do it. Once all of this is said and done, if its a software issue, it should be solved.
I had this same issue prior to the upgrade, and all is fine now. Mine didn't FC tho. If I touched the bottom of the screen, it would select something at the top. any questions or a perfect walkthrough, my direct email to my cell is in my info on the left.
<<<<<<<<<< Over there.
ah! thanks! Im actually going to try this now, and hopefully i don't fail and mess up my phone even more than what it already is. and yeah the FCs are really annoying i cant really do anything like make calls, which is ridiculous. Im also having problems with the camera as well i got those really funky colours in it. and then my regular speaker for calls isnt working unless i put it on speaker, i think my G1 is telling me it wants to die. lmfao.

Oh crap. You have the funky color camera?! That might actually be a hardware issue. But we can certainly try this out. I have the gTalk PC app, and it's up and running now if you wanna run through this.

First of all running stock Droid 3 Rooted Flashed to cricket

I noticed after taking my phone out of my pocket while trying to turn it on from normal off screen while on that it wouldn't show up the light still indicated it was working I can even turn off the phone.
Taking the battery out and back in semi fixed this but only to the extent where when the phone is turned on the moto logo doesn't appear but the droid eye does.
whence at the booted screen if I were to let it go black it has a chance to not stay on unless I RIGHT after it boots unlock it and keep it lit,
(but)
the main problem I noticed was it really only did this after lets say I was typing or doing anything with the qwerty board open and perhaps I let the screen turn off after a minute,
when I try to wake it up it stays black. EVERY TIME like most of the time,
it has to do with the keyboard being open when the screen goes to sleep.
WHAT IS WRONG *pulls hair out*

I can't say when but I've looked everywhere
tried uninstalling every app but the essentials,
then restoring to my first restore which was after my first initial root.
Tried factory reset,
Tried flashing back to stock,
yeah I think this counts for as much as I've gone insane looking for an answer for.
I have been told this sounded like a software issue so all I'd need to do is re install like I did when flashing back to stock THIS MORNING.
____________________________________________________
I need help to identify somehow if this IS or IS NOT a software/hardware problem.
and an answer to help me fix this would be nice as well thank you.
I know I am supposed to be brief but putting in all that into google and into every forum I have delved just isn't going to put it the way it needs to be said.
______________________________________________________
______________________________________________________
Edit:
Ok so far since no one has said anything I have also reinstalled my old newest state, still giving me crap.
Then just did the newest update 5.7 blah and still it's happening.
I hypothesize it might be the flex ribbon cable maybe (but it really might not) I read from another phone it might be a capacitor but it might not.
Whatever is wrong the phone still is able to at times now 40/60% of the time work properly and wake normal but then again not.
__________________________________________
Right as of now I have put isc to see if this helps .......... .... to be continued or helped.
I'm back, well ics installed fine after the second time made it boot loop over and over.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can receive calls now
but
no sms, mms, or internet.
(even though the network status settings are blank it's weird I can still receive calls, and send calls.)
since you can't restore the apn's with 3rd party I now have this NEW issue.
the phone goes unresponsive within cdma workshop and ##Program does not work.
I'd like some help in finding out now how to if it is possible yet to properly flash to cricket and or just change my apns and get into cdma as well as QPST.

Yeah, it does sound like a hardware problem. If nobody else can help you fix it, you'll need to reflash the latest OTA update (or revert to your safestrap nandroid), unroot it and restore all the system apps that you may have frozen/deleted, and hope that Verizon will replace it.
Thanks

Thanks for your input.
(verizon wouldn't replace it since I baught it from someone else (legit) and I don't have verizon.
UNLESS you think if I had the previous owner take it into the store could they replace it? what steps would they take to see if it was rooted?

I never unrooted it when I did allll of this
Do you think rerooting is soumething that I should have done before doing this?
Or most likely is this a flex ribbon cable thing ....
I just tried the diagnostic (leave keyboard open then turn the screen off and on thing)
it came on at least 3 times normal then it didn't either right after the 3rd try or upon closing the qwerty board ...
also do you have an answer at all for the ics portion of my problem?
THANK YOU

so all things aside yehs I also did that any other solutions inquiries ...

I believe there is another apn type tool that the Cricket Android tools are using for their specific settings. You may have to search XDA a bit to see if anything shows up for othere phones on Cricket.
