[Q] Cyanogen 10.1.2 Multi Window Issue - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm at a loss of how to describe this annoying feature, but I believe it's multi-window.
Today is my 2nd day with my Nook HD+, I had no problem putting on CM 10.1.2, Thanks leapinlar, bokbokan, and everyone else!
I received a notification of an update (CM 10.1.3), without thinking I installed that. After rebooting, everything was fine, until I explored the features TOO MUCH. In the notification pull down, I saw a speech bubble icon for a feature so I clicked it. Now I have a light blue "bubble" or dot that stays on top of all other apps. The dot shows everything from the notification area, and if selected will open a scaled down version of the app that "floats" on top of whatever other app is open. I can't find out how to deactivate this feature, nor do I know what it might be called. I've had to do a re-install of CM 10.1.2, but this feature stayed activated.

[Q] Help, SMS Delivery Notification

Hello...
There is one thing that bothers me...
Is there any way to enable SMS Delivery report to show in the notification bar and for it to stay there until manually dismissed??
In most cases (roms i tried), and now, after I send an SMS, after a second or two i just get small popup on the bottom of the screen saying it was delivered to 'xy'..and it dissapears instantly..
it's not a big thing, but i'd really like to have it in notif. bar, and also to play a sound when delivered..
and the point is that i use stock messaging app, NOT 3rd party..
and i know it's possible on stock, because i already had that experience on some CM7 roms i tried...
most precise i can be is to say that on some Temasek CM7 builds i tried ( they were 130+ i think) was one way, and i remember on the next build, BAM, another way..
now i'm on CM10 nightly, and still getting only small popups in the bottom...and in settings i have enabled delivery reports and also i have option 'Display message notifications in status bar' enabled, but still a no go.
do i need modified mms.akp?
anyone?

[Q] Grey Navigation Bar on Nook HD

I have had a savage hatred for Google's idea of softkeys (while loving Button Saviour's) ever since HC dropped on us with the Xoom. Is this method of getting rid of the navigation bar viable on the Nook HD? I read from the guides that the Nook was "sensitive" but am too dumb to know what this means.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985592
Currently on 2.0.5 rooted with GApps but no location.
Do not try. Will do 8 boot, restore. Seems most anything related to /system will cause this.
Despite this limitation I still hate the Nexus 7 enough to stick with the NookHD
I have the same/similar problem with the grey toolbar. I have used LeapinLar's excellent guide for getting CWM on the nook and it works very well indeed. The only problem is that when running BSplayer/Moboplayer/Mxplayer etc the nook home grey bar doesn't disappear when playing a video.
The grey bar does go black but the screen doesn't expand to make use of the extra space that the stock nook video player uses. Is there a setting that makes the grey bar slide away like on the stock video player? If one player can do it hopefully the other player can be made to do the same, but I can't find a setting that allow this?
Cheers

There is no setting to do what you want. And the bar turning black with tiny white dots is called "lights out" mode. It is to fool you into thinking it is gone. It is a "feature".
They only way to get the bar to disappear is with third party software like "GMD gesture control". That particular one is a paid software.

You can try a free application called "full!screen" to hide the gray toolbar.
This should work with any CM10. I wrote it for my TouchPad and it also works on my HD2
ToggleBarCM10.apk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1555097&d=1355245239
full!screen needs access to system tools. Will this result in me never being able to let the tablet die for want of battery or rebooting? GMD GestureControl also requests the access to "modify system settings".
I'm fine with never turning it off but I am wondering if there are other ways that the 8loop bootloop can occur. I mostly use the Nook for satisfying an 18 year old habit of reading TIME magazine so I would prefer to be on stock rather than switch back and forth.
It really is weird...I can't eat cereal without reading last week's news on TIME
Man, I messed up that edit!
I will repeat.
It is ok to change system settings, just not /system. System settings is in /data.
Neither GMD or full!screen change /system.
Earlier I found full!screen did not work, but now it does.
Oh, it is a new version, that's is why it works now... and I just rebooted and no issues. It is awesome.

CM10 already contains the code to switch the bar on and off, it is call expanded desktop.
It is usually accessed through the power menu but some builds don't have that option enabled, still the "logic" (finishAnimationLw()) inside the android.policy.jar is always there and can be "activated" using a simple setting on the system database.
Not sure about the "new" fullscreen app, but the way GMD used to hide the bar was killing the systemui service.
"ToggleBarCM10.apk" just updates the setting db switching the value on and off, it doesn't do anything else. It's not going to affect /system.
I've been doing that for quite a long time on the TouchPad and other devices with CM9 and CM10.
Search for "No way to hide the bottom bar in CM9" and you will would find the thread in Rootzwiki with a lot of more info about it

[Q] How to disable ribbons

Hi,
I've just installed PAC-MAN's 4.2.2. Really good ROM and I spotted a little third icon in the notification center.
Then I tapped on that, suddenly a little circle popped up on my screen and just sticked to the left. Then things becomes really annoying, because this little thing just does not go away. I went into the settings - ROM Control - Ribbons, and tried menu - reset ribbons again and again. Still can't get rid of this. Can somebody please tell me how to make this little circle thing disappear?
This little circle thing is really annoying. I'm not sure if this is the official feature of Android, or is it just the dev team's work? It takes the job of Notification center and pops out every single time I get new push notifications. I already see what the notification is from the status bar, and can easily deal with it in the dropdown notification center, so I do not need this thing to tell me again! What's worse, this thing takes up screen space, considering Galaxy Exhibit's screen is already a tiny one. And now I just don't know how to deal with it, letting it sitting there popping up randomly and I just can't turn the thing off.
Then I see that maybe the dev team has brought the idea of Ubuntu's idea. The point is, Ubuntu's idea is just a vertical dock, and the dock idea is not only Mac OS X's, but also Android's - look at the "phone" "contact" and "app drawer" icons at the bottom of the screen! I can't say this is a bad idea, but, please, give me the option to disable it.
Double tap and drag to the x. I think.
OMG it magically worked...
Thanks a lot!!!

[Q] Notfications - Screen turns on

Hi,
I'm mainly following the
[ROM][M7UL][JB][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies
thread, as I'm currently running the latest CM 10.1 nightly. The LED on the HTC one is very limited and only has two colors (red and green) as per HTC website. So I was wondering if there's the possibility for a different kind of notification? Examples could be:
- Screen turns on and shows a message about the app that caused a notification.
- Screen turns on in a rhythm to only display the status bar and the symbols of the notifications.
- The buttons (back and home button) blink.
I tried to search if a similar discussion has already taken place, but the search didn't work and I gave up after manually looking through 5 or so pages of open threads.
thanks,
aspast.
Are there no possibilities for this?
If a notification pops up while the screen is locked and the whole screen remains black except for the little notification icon or the whole notification bar. This could be an optional notification feature for CM or similar.

There are lockscreen alternatives in the play store that allow this, Holo Locker for one. That allows the screen to turn on and show banners, similar to iOS but I know the stock Android lockscreen doesn't show anything other than in the status bar ... Even more frustrating is the fact I have to unlock my device to answer a call. There are so many good features in Android but the way notifications are handled is terrible IMO.
there already are some kernels that have the back and the home buttons flash glow when a notification comes up.

Android 11 issues

Thought I'd start this up for anyone having issues. So far:
I've had the UI hang while trying to swipe up to go home.
I had the navigation bar become stuck in the middle of the screen.
The screen recorder doesn't work properly. Records audio but video only shows a background image that not on the screen. After I drop recording the status bar on top disappears in the home screen.
Anyone else having this issues or other issues?
Keyboard won't open using chat bubble on messages app
My only issue had been trying to trigger the back gesture or menu from the left side which could be a result of the new screen protector I put on, or just Google's garbage gesture implementation.

interesting... I'm having issues with Gboard not opening up at all most of the time with chat bubbles disabled. only sure way for me to get the keyboard back is to lock the device, bring up the keyboard trying to unlock and then the keyboard will show up in the current app.
I tried rooting using the latest magisk and phone does not boot past the bootloader. using 7.5.1 of Magisk.
The screenshot button is greyed out when using 3-button navigation. Works with gesture navigation.
This is all that records. *Edit*Nevermind doesn't upload

UI is not hanging for me but it keeps forgetting that I have Action Launcher as my default and kicking me back to Pixel Launcher when I swipe up to go home. It remembers after a reboot.

I did but had to remove the old ver before I installed the new to show correctly. Was odd but I am not rooted. Thanks
I don't have the option to bubble chat( don't see the icon on the notification bar) is activated for all chats but is not working for me.
Bubbles open for me, but 1) the nav bar for some reason shows up at the bottom of the pop up, and 2) it hangs, and doesn't allow interaction. As well, if auto-rotate is off, the nav bar will not always follow rotation, at times getting stuck on the bottom of the device, as well as constantly being visible, even on the always on display.
When I restart the phone I get a new voicemail notification every time even though I don't have any. This has happened on the BETA too
Google message bubble is working fine w/o issues but I'm stock and unrooted!

Anyone have problem with forcing 90Hz refresh ? Even enabled at developer option (now its call smooth display and i think this is same trigger like in display settings), phone sometimes goes to 60Hz for i think 30s-1m and after that i got 90Hz back.

Yeah my bubbles pop up but I can't get gboard to open. It either tells me gboard stopped working out nothing happens at all.
I performed a clean install from August Android 10 to September Android 11 update and I have not been able to get my face unlock to work. Anyone else having this issue. If so have you been able to find a fix for it.
