[Q] Files dissapear from internat SD card after reboot - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I'm trying to replace the stock ROM on a i9000T variant, specifically tried to install CM10.1
It doesn't work, and I have 2 weird symptoms:
1. I can't really clear data\factory reset. For some reason some of the information on the device (several apps) stay installed even after clearing everything several times, and flashing a stock ROM using Heimdall.
2. Whenever a copy a ROM ZIP file on the internal SD card, whether using normal USB copy or ADB push - the file disappears after a reboot.
Do someone know these problems?
Thanks

It seems I am unable to uninstall user apps as well. The seem to uninstall, but come back after restarting the phone...

This would indicate your Internal SD card is failing , you may need to use External SD card, to act as the Internal Sd card for phone to function. Look at My Android Solutions, link below for
[ 13 & 14] Problem:-Getting this when you try to Boot...

need help with linux swap issues !!!!!

i did the partition, and for some reasons, i exchanged my phone for a new one but after i rooted my phone and flash the cyan rom, and when the phone starts up, the error messages pop up, i think its about the weather widget and calendar widget, saying it's not responding whether to force close or wait. But this is the new phone and fresh new rom i just installed. So I think those programs were still in my sd second partition. My question is, how do i format the 2nd partition or uninstall the apps ? i tried to master reset, but didnt work, and if i plug the usb cord into the computer, i can only see the primary partition but not the secondary one. So now, i cant remove the apps that i installed before, and those error messages pop out everytime when i turn on my phone.
Hope someone here can help me with this
its not ur linux swap part., ur apps are at ext
to clean up ur ext2/3/4
recovery -> alt+x
# mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
# rm -rf /system/sd/*

oh...but i deleted the partitions and formatted the sd in my computer by right clicking my computer/manage/disk management, then choose the sd card, and i can see it is devided into 3 partitions 1 is 500mb, and one is 373mb and one is 91mb, i deleted one of the partition then 3 partitions merged into one, then i formatted it. But in my phone, it still has the "SD card secondary" section. So should i re partition my sd again like b4 ? and if i dont want to, how do i make the "SD card secondary" go away ?
is this a troll or is he serious?
how do i make the "SD card secondary" go away ?

Do you have access to a SD Card data reader? It might help to remove your phone from the equation. Also, Linux has far better support for file systems than windows. I have formatted drives that Windows couldn't see, using Linux. Do you have access to a unix box?

[Q] Help! Can't mount sd-ext

Hi, I'm actually new to an Android device, but the HTC vivid I got from AT&T just behaved horrendously (battery dies in less than 2 hours, input method constantly stops working, any of the touches on the screen are frequently recognized as dragging down the status bar, can't pick-up or make phone calls very often, changes the screen brightness by itself like crazy if set auto-brightness, etc) so I decide to make some change.
The ROM I am currently using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420985
The problem that I have now is that in system settings->storage, I can see my ~30GB external SD card. The SD card works fine if you plug it to a PC. But no apps on the phone can access this SD card. I was using a CWM recovery, and now a TWRP recovery, both give me an error message saying something like "unable to mount sd-ext".
These are what I see in system settings.

I will explain what I did with my phone during the past 3 days to give you an idea of what may go wrong.
First I tried to root the device with some "one-key rooting" software I found online, but it failed. Then I learned that I have to unlock the bootloader of the phone. So I went to htcdev.com and followed the instructions, but my Win8.1 computer could not recognized the phone when the phone was in fastboot mode (although I could see "FASTBOOT USB" on the phone, the computer just said "unrecognized device" or something). So I borrowed my roommate's Macbook Pro, and successfully unlocked the bootloader. Then the "one-key rooting" software worked, and my deviced was rooted. By that time the storage worked without any problem.
Then I tried to install a ROM made by "Team Hydra" on my phone (I can't find the original post now but I noticed a new thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524934, which I suppose is an update of the ROM), but I didn't know about the "S-ON" status of my phone, so apparently I can't boot my phone to system. At this time I had CWM recovery on my phone. So I took out the battery, thought it was the ROM's issue.
I found that I could flash a ROM by copying the ROM zip files into my external SD card, and use CWM recovery. So I tried this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026675 which is an official Cyanogenmod nightly version. Still no luck because I didn't flash boot.img. Then I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036710 and understood the boot.img issue. I successfully installed the ROM, but found that the phone did not recognize either my internal SD or my external SD, so most of the apps couldn't run, even the camera.
Then I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420985 and noticed in the changelog there was a "Fixed SD Card" update. So I installed this newer version of ROM (also using the external SD). I felt very strange that the recovery could install the ROM with the external SD, but the operating system can't use the SD card (same as the snapshots shown above, except that the sdcard(FAT) was also "Unavailable").
Then I found another post online, and tried the method: I flashed TWRP recovery on my phone, and tapped "mount". Then I plugged the phone to my PC, and format the 8GB partition which seemed to be somehow corrupted. After that the internal SD card worked fine, and it is what I have now. The external SD can't be used by any of the apps, and if I reboot to recovery, and try to mount sd-ext, I can get a message saying "unable to mount sd-ext".
Ok now I got really confused, and the posts and threads I found online are not quite the same as the problem I am having. I wish to get help here. Thank you.

Also I find my bluetooth can't be turned on...

[Help] Need To Format my phone

The thing is that my friend took some of my personal photos from my phone while i was away. And now he is trying to bully me through those photos. I want to format his internal SD Card.He is on Stock Lollipop and i know for sure that the photos are kept in the internal memory. I can perform a hard reset but that will not wipe out the entire internal memory . He is keeping those photos via galley vault app. He Also has A Lock on his phone always so i cant unlock his phone and manually delete it.
Please Is there anyway to wipe his data of internal memory.I will be grateful to you all.
P.S He owns Moto G(2nd Gen) Running Lollipop
WTF
You should name your post:Need to format his phone
Sent from my XT1068 using XDA Free mobile app
Go into Settings - Storage - scroll down to "erase SD card". Or just pop off the back and take the SD card out. Both of these assume you have his phone.
I hope you learned the most important lesson here, not to take compromising pictures. *facepalm*
I Don't Know His Phone's Password And Removing The SD Card Wont do any good as the data is stored in the internal SD Card.....
A hammer would do it. Nice friends you got.
do you have his phone? can you turn it off by holding the power button the phone must turn off.
But it will instantly reboot, dont know if phone with password will ask the password just after it reboot, but may be not but you must be quick and not let it lock, then erase the file.
Or
same thing hold the power button the screen will turn off when it does hold immediately the power and down volume key for 5 seconds release, the phone will not boot and will open the bootloader screen.

i never try that option just use the volume down to move, and volume up key to click in that factory, and try to factory his phone...
Dont know if password protection will protect that.
After that must be erased everything on the OS, and it will boot and open use a file manager app to see if it deleted everything...
