[Q] GameCIH - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, even though my phone is rooted with Omar's ROM, whenever i open any game tool (ex. GameKiller, GameGuardian, GameCIH...) it says my system is not rooted or "root privilege is needed".
Any ideas on how to get it to work would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So nobody has this problem with the Razr i?

I have this problem too and think it's because of the x86 processor that GameCih developers do not support

I cant root on ics

I cant post in the dev forum cause im new so i thought id post it here. When i try the motifail root i get the error that it doesnt know what the adb drivers are. I followed the instructions to a T and it said it was completed but when i installed root checker it said i wasnt rooted. ( just asking when rooting are you supposed to turn off the phone or do you leave i on because i just left it on. I installed the drivers but idk what is wrong.) I am trying to root so i can get jb. Thanks for a help. And if im posting thus in the wrong place please tell me so everyone doesnt hate me. Thanks

so you installed motorola device manager to get the correct drivers right? if so just wipe caches on your phone from within recovery (power + vol-up simultaneously with power off) and try motofail2go again. make sure you are doing the bug report button combo correctly. just keep trying
When im doing motofail do i turn off my phone?

Homescreen is where you start the process.
Make sure you have unknown sources checked in settings and usb debugging turned on.
And when the process is successful will something
Happen? Like will the phone reboot or something?

Use the utility in this thread. If you can't get it rooted with this, maybe you should reconsider (no offense intended)

Can anyone help me root?

I've been a heavy user of Android for a few years, and flashed several roms, mods and kernels on my LG P500 and my friend's phones. But this phone is a bit different from the other ones i've used, and my budget is a bit low, so i'm afraid of screwing up. What i need is to somebody to help me, with the requirements i need and the process of rooting this phone. Any help of someone who is already rooted would be appreciated. Regards, AnonymRocker.
Just unlock the bootloader and use this tool
http://www.batakang.com/ftp/RAZRi/RootUtility/RAZRi_Root_Windows.zip
Hi TheAnonymRocker
For this phone I tried several rooters but the one that worked was the TATAZEUS mentioned.
Install Drivers and simply execute Root.bat into the zip. Tested on 871.111.20003.XT890.Brasil.en.BR. But Works on 871.111.20003.XT890.Brasil.en.BR too.
To unlock this phone visit Motorola website to request unlock key. Lost Warranty but not the updates for phone.
I'm going to try this method once i get home. Thanks for your help!
Do i need the drivers to use the root tool? And if i screw up, can i possibly brick it?

Yes you've obviously got the root access but you've gained it from the previous version of ics. The last version wouldn't allow rooting without unlocked bootloader as it could be assumed from the experience of those who tried to root upgraded razri.
Ok, i got hone and tried to unlock the bootloader, but when i tried to enter the fastboot command, i got this:
"$" is not a valid command
Can anyone help me?

Nope, rooting is necesary to give some apps elevated permissions. If you want to change your firmware, you must unlock the bootloader, and the use a tool like RSD Lite to flash a new firm over the actual one.

Hmmm, I'm not too sure what the issue could be then. Let me find the forum thread for xposed q&a and I'll link you to it. They'll be better help than I am.

Did you gave root access to xposed? Do you even rooted your device?
Grab a logcat, it'll show the actual reason why it's failing.
You can also install it through ADB (or `pm` from a terminal emulator), that'll directly give you the exact error.

I've normally only seen that error when the file is already in the system somewhere. I don't know the file structure of an LG phone and I'm sure it's completely different than a Samsung. Check also in data/app

I'll just say this again because it's all guesswork unless you do so:

Root AT&T 4.1.1 98.5.38!

I just found a tool that allow me to root the atrix HD, even with the last OTA update.
All credits go to a Chinese team..
As i see, this tool was not created to unlock the Atrix HD... but it works flawlessly :victory:
You can download the tool from their webpage..

Yes. Why are you using safestrap when that is a discontinued method and has been for quite some time with all threads pointing to mythools on the current way to do things?

That tells us nothing. 'A lot of errors' is not a problem that i or anyone else can fix. We need details, error codes/msgs, what the device does, etc.
Lets start there and we'll see what we can do to get you up and running.

Custom recoveries can be used to backup/restore stock roms. However, bootstrap/safestrap was discontinued in apr-may 2013 when our bootloader became unlockable. No clue of any safestrap compatibilities. What does mythtools say when you run through the bootloader unlock script?
