What happen to Melvin and the Beastmod thread

Is there no more beastmod support. If not what happen?

I spoke with Mel and he said he's gonna continue on droid-tech.com. From what I was told it was a misunderstanding of some sort. Just follow him on droid-tech. He'll definitely be missed by me and many others. Luckily I have the privilege of contacting him via gtalk.

Looks like it got locked because he got banned from xda. Don't know why. If you want to follow his ROM, like I do, I think you can find his thread on Droid tech. It's a much smaller forum but I think he's there.

What's the actual URL of that site please? Can't seem to Google it. I've tried a number of combinations. Droidtech.com gets: NOTICE: This domain name expired on 11/09/2011 and is pending renewal or deletion. NOTICE: This domain name expired on 11/09/2011 and is pending renewal or deletion. And droid-tech.com gets nothing.

UPDATE: Mel said follow his twitter. He's about to post a letter on twitter about what happen I guess. @bosina_dev is his name. He also said look out for him on droid-tech.com

S-off discussion: Can we look to Rezound for help on root?

Hey guys, it looks like the HTC Rezound is close to getting S-Off by Evil. If you didn't know, the Rezound has had a locked bootloader all this time just like us. Can we look to how they got root to help with our own efforts. The method of getting S-Off between these two phones can't be that different, can it?

I'm pretty sure the internals are very very alike too. The only difference I've read is the screen size. They both came out around the same time, so I'd think they'd be locked in a very similar fashion.

If they are very close then you can take their way and use to the Vivid bootloader

I hope so... That seems to be a pretty good option right now. I posted this same thing in the "think tank" thread in the dev section, so hopefully a skilled dev can take it into consideration.

So would we use his exact method? Or would we have to tweak a few little things? I know for many Samsung phones, you can use the universal SuperOneClick root. Would it work kind of like that?

Apparently he is very very close. The link said days, if not hours away. Would he be the one to tweak it for us or would one of us have to? I'm not even sure if we could post our version on here though, XDA is pretty ant-anything that involves him. Maybe he could post our version on his site.

For the record, evil is not wanting it released here without his permission as well. You can link his twitter, but you can't link his site, due to him charging for a root exploit for the shift.

Changed the title, looks good to me now . The general section usually gets a little more action than the Q and A section. My intention was for any possible devs to help us out with this. My apologies for trying to help us all find root lol.

Look, I don't like the guy and I think his attitude is terrible and he deserved the ban he got. But can we refrain from saying stuff that isn't true? It does nothing for guiding people to an eventual unlocked rezound (or vivid in this case). Open is supposed to be was android is about... not squelching possible advancements based off a personal problem.

As I appreciate your enthusiasm for moderating me. The statement was made intentionally. As I have had this thread topic in multiple forums and the dev in question prompts flaming from discussion as to why we can't link his site. Most people on here either love or hate the guy, I am cool with him. My statement is made because that's the reasoning behind not linking his site. I can post it when I did or we could wait until it was asked, I chose the pre emptive approach to avoid someone literally saying something negative about the dev and xda. If you have an issue with my statement please address a senior mod or admin.

Einsteins account Was NEVER hacked, when It happened, a lot of people mainly me got abused by einsteins rage. Hence why his account is banned.

No problem just found it lying round on my hard drive you know as you do. But what happened then and why did his Nameless rom thread disappear?

I think it's better to not discuss about what happened and just be happy we still have a solid rom to fall back on.
I think I still have v7.0.0 lying around somewhere but thanks for the link OP! Now the new people will see what the Desire C users were using before the influx of devs came around!

Agreed. Nameless Rom was the first rom I flashed and then after Expls!on rom and then the rest is just a blur. I just havent settled for one rom.

Since the update, this icon is bugging me, but dont know whats this icon for.

I saw it as N, but never use nfc, so didn't realize. There was no way i could search it.
Plus, the other guy already helped me out, so this answer wasn't necessary.
This thread is meant to ask questions, it is for those who dont know the stuff.
I appreciate a senior member like you, help people, but you if you are to answer, then you should think about what you are posting.

Seeing as rule number one here is to search you could've found the answer as since 4.3 came out it has been asked numerous times so, really, this entire thread shouldn't exist
Might be worth adding '[SOLVED - NFC ICON] to the thread title so people searching can find it in future
