I'm pretty sure most of the mods work for i8190T as well, as long as you dont mess with your modem or efs.
Have you tried any of the roms, like CM10.1, AOKP?
Just make a nandroid in recovery before you ,and if it doesn't work just restore your backup.

Even though it stats its for i8190 or other, it works in the N & L variant, you'll lose NFC though if you are on the N variant, but you still keep your baseband from the L variant
So the roms will pretty much work as long you dont tamper with your efs/modem folders
Have they made a way to back those up other then me finding and making copys of them elsewhere, that sgs2mini toolkit is even limited to what can be done with the i8190T

EFS is most important to backup. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37310230&postcount=21
"/modemfs" is mmcblk0p12. Use this to backup whole partition to external sd:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 of=/extSdCard/modemfs.img
Baseband can be found in official firmware from sammobile.
Did you have any luck? I also got the GT-I8190T model (from NZ too).
Is there an alternative to the magic rooter? I really don't have the money to buy the "auto update" feature to root the T model (it's like $30-40NZD).
Simply install N version ROM. There is no technical difference between them except the device name.
Alot of L variant users uses 8190 version for daily use with no bugs
So, who is going to go first??!!
I also am a kiwi with the TDCAMA3 on the XT network. I have two wifi tablets with CM ROMS but I am chary of phones with their frequ band requirements. Would like to start with rooting and cwm recovery, though.
Would also not like losing NFC just in case I find a use for it!
Look I8190T is just a model with 16GB of internal storage and NFC nothing else.

Mines 8 gig apparently on XT network
Random fact my 8gig model GT-I8190T after I rooted the device with the Odin flashed recovery and installed superuser which allowed me to uninstall alot of the bloat ware and still retain it if needed via '' rom customiser '' app my phone doesn't lag out and freeze any more.
Also did I get ripped or what No external SD included I used a 16 gig from my old I9000

For all you GT-i8190T XT owners I have made a public folder in my drop box with all required files to root your phone reliably
http://db.tt/O7Gn5gHb
1 Unzip odin
2 Use three button combo to put your phone into download mode, (turn off completely , hold home, volume down, and power - for those that don't know) press up I think it is to confirm download mode.
3 with device connected to Odin flash the. MD5 file in the PDA section (do not tick repartition)
4 after reboot connect phone to pc and move the update superuser to your external SD can be done before to save time.
5 turn phone off again. And then go into recovery, home+volume up+ power hold until the first screen comes up.
6 flash the update super user from your external SD.... Important it's external SD..
7 reboot phone enjoy you rooted stock GT-i8190T
Just use rom customiser from the market to remove all your bloat ware

Hey, thanks for the files.
I used the root toolkit for the s3 mini. Chose option 22 (install for 8190N)
Installed just CWM, restarted the device to recovery and just installed CM10.1 from here:
http--->maclaw.pl/2013/09/19/release-cm10-1-s3-mini-10 (I need 10 posts post a link, so just copy/paste that)
Everything seems to run fine. The phone runs 10 times smoother than it did before. Stock android is the tits and the quick setting bar is nice.
overall, no regrets. Interface is 200% better than it was on touchwiz
Now that I run custom roms on my i8190T the Samsung splashscreen displays "I1890N". That's all well and good but my question is whether the "T" is essentially the same as the "N" model and whether I would be safe to flash the latest i1890N modem? Thanks for any help.

Nightly builds for the Thrill (P925) has stopped, P920 builds will work on Thrill P925.
Builds can be found here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=p920
Changelog can be found here:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p920
There should be NO problems at all to upgrade from the latest SelfKang to the lastest Nightly Build.
INSTRUCTIONS:
* Create a nandroid backup in CWM.
* Install the latest Nightly.
* Reboot.
If you're currently using a stock rom or a custom rom that is not based on CM then you must make a factory reset/format data in CWM after installing the latest nightly.
Else you'll get stuck in a bootloop.
NOTICE:
* Please note that this rom will replace your old one if you have a stock rom (Froyo or Gingerbread).
Everything on your current rom will be useless, so backup everything!
If you're currently using Froyo, then you need to flash the latest Baseband;
Use the "LG Updater tool" to update to the latest Stock version so you'll get the latest Baseband, re-root your phone and download Rom Manager from the market.
Install CWM, do a Nandroid backup and install the latest nightly build of CM7.
WHY YOU SHOULDN'T USE CM:
If you're using the 3D functions of your phone as well as the HDMI then you shouldn't change to CM at the moment.
3D and HDMI is broken.
And yes, these releases are newer than the SelfKang4.
This is Not my mod and try asking in this thread before posting me a PM, you'll get a faster reply here.
I've never understood Nightly builds.
What's most of the difference you'll see?

I think 3D and HDMI aren't working. Radio, GPS, and wifi were all working before the nightly. I can confirm that wifi is working great. I haven't used GPS so not sure how well it works or not.
It is running 2.3.7 . No you don't need to do anything with the baseband.
The only complaint I have is that the person i call using this rom hears a really bad echo

How about make it mount internal and external SD card?
Is there a way to get headset recognition as well? I pressed mine a couple time while playing music, wouldn't pause or skip tracks like normal CM7 would. I've had atleast 2 reboots now but everything else seems great
Alright, time to start building some nightlies.........Ill be on my own in a few weeks....
Yup, but we need something other than this trashy 'CyanogenMod'.
I personally hate CM in general, it's not n00b friendly and it just looks plain dumb.
But if anyone could rocket a GB ROM without having to install a GB break, then count me in.
I hope to see a Froyo ROM soon.
Love you guys but the Thrill is trash and the mods here suck.

Eh, I agree to a certain extent. However, I wouldn't count noobs as those rooting, flashing ROMs, etc etc. So if they can't be bothered to google some CM info, welll, then...
As far as dumb, most of the time, our phones look dumb out of the box. The CM ROM is just as customizable as any other ROM. I got rid of the skateboard alien ASAP. What is kinda cool is the theme chooser so that you make a bunch of the stuff like battery stat, various widgets, dialer, etc all look different in one click.
I think most of us are just kinda waiting until the new cool phones come out in 2012 and move on.
are there any kernels for this with OC? im coming from foryo and my benchmark would hit up to 3300. now i cant even reach 3k.

I think a lot of people are having the issue with the call echo. Seems to be a problem with the ambient/noise cancellation microphone. Not a big deal if you turn down the call volume.
I am having other issues with the first nightly; can't select items in the notification bar, misaligned keyboard, etc. so will be sticking with SK4 for the time being. That being said, however; it is nice that the Thrill is getting a little love. I'll still be checking the dailies and looking out for a stable build.

If you want to go back to froyo, use the LG updater tool to go back to stock, there is a few threads that describes how. After that, you can just root your device and go back to the old backup.

Had the weirdest bug ever on the 2nd nightly last night. I was at the mall playing cards when my phone suddenly made this alarm-esque noise. No matter what I did, i couldn't get it to stop. I had to restart my phone which finally put an end to it. Hopefully i don't experience that again lol.
Nightly 2 still has the echo thing going on. I'll try the new ones as they come out.
I have a question : Before on froyo, my SD had a partition that i could put various things into. After flashing CM7, this partition seems to be invisible from my phone (root explorer). For some reason, my computer at home cannot access this partition, but my computer at work can. I have filled my internal sd card from restoring apps. How can I access this partition, or repartition so the internal SD has more space?
Any help with this would be appreciated.

I completely know what you mean by SD card.
If you goto CM7 settings> Application, there should be an option named "Use internal storage". If you check that box and reboot, it just flip flops the SD cards. You can access the other, but can't the other. Kinda annoying, wish I had a 32GB MicroSD right about now
i tried going back to froyo from this and it was stuck on LG too. i had many backups. i was able to go back to froyo by flashing doomed again. idk what it is about that one but it took it back to froyo just fine. and from there you can flash ur recovery and ull b fine
I had the crazy-alarm-type bug happen again just now. I believe it was caused by a notification sound that is supposed to play, but instead, starts clipping at an alarming rate at full volume. I tried just about everything you can think of to stop this cacophonous noise, but had to ultimately shut down the phone.
As far as the "SD thing", I did find out that the other portion of the card is actually listed under "mnt" and then "emmc" for anyone that was wondering. I can access this from the phone as well.
So far the nightly builds are great, thanks for the hard work!

The easiest way :
- install ROM manager
- flash CWM from it
- put your rom (zip) in your sd card
- reboot to recovery from ROM manager
- flash it from CWM
or

Thanks for. There is no WRONG CM. Go to http://get.cm/?device=p970 and choose the one you like. Mostly the new ones are better, but not always, since they sometimes produce unknown errors. I wouldnt flash CM anyway, if your new to flashing and stuff. Better try v3 of huexxx's Zeus ROM. Find it in DEV Section.
PM me, if you still have your old bricked phone. And give me your Facebookname, cause maybe we can unbrick it
I tried zeus v3.2, there are bugs that needs to be fix. I encountered the need to re-enter my google account password every restart. The call function seems to lag and sometimes FC.
This is my experience and thus sharing it here will give the DEV to fix it for us.
Then you definitly either chose the wrong version, or made a fault during installation. I am using it since the beginning and never had any bug with it. And trust me, cm still has faaaaaaar more bugs ;-)

sorry if my post does not be in the correct section... but my device really dissapointed me.... there is no problem before! why now? (not even a change in the rom or anything with that)... i really want to know what is the issue of this problem!
thnx for reading and hope an answer

It could be many things bud, need more info. How old is your phone? What kernal are you using? When did you last update your phone? What radio are you using? Have you dropped your phone? Did your phone get wet? Also your phone company may be doing work on cell towers have you tried calling them about the issue? Things like that, we need to know if we are going to be able to help?

I am going to answer you step by step: I bought my phone half use (4 or 5 months ago), Kernel version is: 3.0.16-g271fd09 [email protected]#1 PREEMPT, The last update i did was about 1 months or 2 (i downloaded the rom from htcdev.com), I do not know what is the radio exactly so i am going to type every information i found: Base band version: 20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.19_M, Build Number: 40.14.405.2 CL408426 release-keys, Bowser version: WebKit/534.30... No, i did not drop it never, Does not get wet neither... My phone company not even know i have an Android!
The radio is: 3831.19.00.19_M and HBOOT is: 2.03.0000. VIVO PVT SHIP S-OFF RH
If need more information just Let me know and i will provide you with it.
And i have another question: If i want to wipe the dalvik cache... all my apps will uninstall or delete? what happened if i wipe the dalvik cache?... It is just i want to run the games quickly (without freeze or not so much) and i was reading if i do a wipe dalvik cahche the smartphone entire should go faster...
waiting for an answer yet.... D; i really need help.
Sorry mate been a little busy, try calling HTC and asking them what their current radio is for your phone type and country. Otherwise I suggest getting your phone rooted and changing the kernal and if that fails try changing your Rom to a stable Rom. Withou root on your phone there is not much you can change. Only HTC can alter it.

---------- Post added at 10:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:30 AM ----------
Also it is safe to wipe dalvik cache your apps will not uninstall, only the crap they put on your phone will be erased. After a delvic/cache wipe reboot your phone, and it will come up with android upgrading. Another question when you downloaded the Rom did you do a clean or dirty install. If it was dirty (did not format phone) it may explain your WiFi issues. What Rom version are you running anyway?

I see... i am runing the rom i wrote above: vivo version 4.0.4 which was installed with RUU asistant from my PC 5 months ago (more or less).... and has been installed cleanly too (formating the phone entire but not the dalvic cache) And i got this problem recently (before, about 3 weeks i did not have any problem with wifi)... why now?
My phone is rooted already (i wrote it above too: S-Off) but i do not like the customs roms... i like the "original" or not personilized roms to my device... there are many custom roms right here (xda developers page) but i do not know if that roms get me more troubles that i have already... so i trust more in my stocks roms than customs for that...
Custom roms can be soooooo much better than stock, for one they get rid of bloatware which can slow your phone, and drain battery, and consume data. There is an abundance of info on these Rom pages, which can guide you on how to remedy any issues you may have, including hotspot issues. I think I read something on the net today about HTC having hotspot issues from their latest update. I use second sun Rom, with redux .6 kernal, radio is 28m, didn't like the 19m version. Hboot is blackrose. Second sun has everything working, no issues at all, its smoother, faster than stock and it is based on the 4.0.4 Rom, also has a jellybean switch. Try this combination. It may help.

hmmmm i am thinking about to change my rom.. but need more information for example, my htc incredible s (vivo) it is completely compatible with that rom?, how many available storage space i need? (whats the size of the rom file), i have never installed a custom rom before, so how could i install it sucesfully? it is with RUU? (Assistant/wizard for pc?).... though i think that all information i could find right here but i do not like the matter of wasting time so much (;
And... i will completely decide to change to a custom rom when the problem i have becomes a fu**ing curse to my life (lol, wich it is almost here)
Mine is the same type inc s vivo. 4ext or clockwork mod are best for flashing. I use 4ext touch for recovery/management. All you have to do is save zip file on sd card, not under any folders just on main file. About 400mb is needed for file. Then perform the format all partitions except sd card. Then choose install zip from sd card and select your zip.

i see... so every custom roms comes in zip format? it seems to be easier than i expected (; but before all, i need to choose the perfect rom i want, i would like to prove the JellyBean sense 4 in my device... but it can be unsuportted at all for the poor cpu incredible s has O; and u said me u have a good rom running in ur device... i want to know where i could find it? what sense it is? u told me about could "switch" to jellybean, i do not understand that...
could u reccommend me a rom that it is nearest to "perfect"? if u know what i mean.... i say, almost perfect or perfect to me! (smooth, fast, without freeze, insane browser, tha games i install run perfectly, the apps without freeze, you know what i am talking about) i say "insane browser" cause the browser ics comes crash and close every second and it freeze very much when playing streaming videos (at least to me) and of course a stable ROM in general, without bugs, with no erros at all!
I would check your router, maybe test on another wireless device if you have not done so already. If your using encryption try a quick test with it disabled or try using another network.

i don't think so, I was reading the comments of the post of the Sabsa prime and some users having issues with the ROM, and the second sun I think have some bugs too... I am using second sun and I have not found any bugs, everything is working just fine. The first posts are there from when it first came out, before any fixes. If you would like to try to change the radio, the latest one is 19m. Can't suggest a kernal as they all react differently to different rims, its a matter of trial and error. Also if you would like to try a diferent rom, just perform a nandroid backup first, then change Rom. If you don't like the Rom all you have to do is go to recovery and recover the previous Rom. It would be like you never changed a thing. The backup is always there so you can try as many roms as you like, risk free.

exactly, that is it cause I have some games that doesn't work on gingerbread... I will do the back up of everything first (Nanandr... however Lol) how many free storage space I need in my SD card to do that? I will need to buy another Sd, the mine it is almost full of games and apps (every time I install an app, I transfer it to sd card) and it is full of files and crap.
first I will prove the second sun Rom, if that don't like me, then I will flash sabsa prime and will tell you how goods it is for me in both.
Someone could paste me the download link of the ultimate radio (.19M) and tells me what I have to know or how could I install it successfully without risk? (for example: what radio I need to have installed first?, the process is the same of flashing a Rom?) though I think that information provide me in the download link (the radio thread)...
You can find most of it here. Radios and kernals.

Hi, I have a question about the S3 Toolkit. I have a International S3 LTE, GT-I9305. I am on stock ROM, and on Android 4.1.2, build no. JZO54K.I9305XXBMB4, baseband version I9305XXBMA2. I am trying to root my phone through the toolkit, but there is a problem I encountered. There are two versions I see under International LTE that are similar to the above version numbers. The first one is 15. Android 4.1.2 [Build JZO54K BLL3] and the other is 16. Android 4.1.2 [Build JZO54K BLL5]. As you have read, i'm trying to root my phone, but if I select the wrong device version and build, it might brick my phone, so how do I find out which number is it behind BLL? Like BLL3 or BLL5?
AW: [Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit Build Versions
Try framaroot to root your phone(frodo exploit), worked great for my s3lte:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37508806
If i understand it rightly the toolkit contains kind of prerooted images which must correspond to your actual rom and will be flashed to your phone. Both versions you mentioned don't match your actual rom. Btw framaroot is an app and nothing gets flashed so imho much saver and no risk of flashing the wrong image.

Ok, actually I did try Framaroot once, but all the exploits didn't work. I'm going to try it again, I'll edit this post once I'm done.
Edit: I tried Framaroot again, and both exploits didn't work. I tried the options for installing SuperSU and Superuser, both also didn't work. (funny that the Settings button doesn't do anything.)
So, how do I root my phone?

Go to the dev section for the gs3 lte and look for Odin flashable pre root. Its awesome and it make your life a lot easier rather than having to fiddle with this and that

Thanks, but I found this app called Samsung Quick Root, and it says it can be used for all Samsung phones. Can I use this instead?
Edit : BTW, is there a way I can retain the original kernel (the one i'm using now; stock) so I can flash it back after installing the insecure kernel? (I can use any insecure kernel right?)
You could try but rooting doesn't give you a different kernel. It usually involves getting a custom recovery and flashing super user
There are some apps the use the exploit on the soc but I don't use them

OK, thanks for the advice given. For the method you have given me, I can't seem to find the correct one which matches my PDA, CSC and product code for the (modified) stock packages category down the post. So am I supposed to use anyone of the packages given? If something wrong happens, can I just flash back my package that I can get from sammobile.com?

Yes you can flash them as long as you can or you can Google framaroot and it will root your device without flashing anything

Ok, thanks. Is there any specific reason why Framaroot doesn't work on my phone? All exploits and root methods don't work on my phone. Why?
Edit: Another different question, is there any way I can do a screenshot using the stock method (I believe it's Vol Down+Home?) on the S3? Without the motion (slide palm over screen) screenshot thing option turned on, I tried different combinations of hardware buttons, but none worked. How?

Random bump, but just curious (I didn't want to flood that previous post. ). Will Samsung make a 4.2.1 update for the I9305? Or will they just wait until 5.0 is out, then make a 5.0 update (if Samsung does update the original S3 to 5.0 when its out, they probably should make one for the I9305 right?)?

Hi! I'm trying to root my i9305 and we have the same case. So what did you chose within the two? Or you just came with different rooting procedure?
Thanks!
I assume your phone build is not under the toolkit? I did not root my phone using that method. This is how I rooted my phone:
1. Using Odin, I flashed the CWM recovery.
2. Went into recovery, flashed the root zip I got from one of the threads here.
3. Rooted!

Yep I downloaded the v7.0 toolkit and my phone is not into it. Yet on the latest version of the toolkit which is v7.40 my phone is already listed there. Maybe I could just wait for the developer to upload the latest version.
Hi Guys,
I am a Galaxy S user. My Galaxy S was bought in Finland and still running (basically stuck with) Ginerbread 2.3.6 (I9000xxJVU). The phone's hardware is just fine (except slow GPS) but it has become paninfully slow and sometime shutting down/restarting on it's own.
Is it a good idea to reset the existing GingerBread 2.3.6 or get a different ROM?
I am a total novice and have not tried any other ROMs on it. I did some research about the alternative ROMs but there are so many options it made me really confused.
Could you guys suggest any stable and fast option for my Galaxy S i9000?
Also, if you could guide how I could migrate to that particular ROM from present Gingerbread, it would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance for your support and for this great forum.
Cheers

Btw I used Odin 3.1 and clockwork to root and Flashed ROM with Cm 10.1 stable.

if you want to stay to 2.3.6 you can just factory reset your phone
Try this
Shut your Android Galaxy S down (Power off) or remove Battery.
Now press Volume up, Home and Power together.
If the Samsung Symbol is coming up leave the Home Button.
Then there is a boot Menu
Volume Up and Down to Navigate , Home to select the chosen option. ( factory reset )
---------------
if you want to upgrade to ICS or JB rom
root your firmware , choose the right cf-root from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
download ICS rom ( i suggest this one )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687727
install it via recovery
if you want to upgrade to JB
go to development section , chose any custom rom you want
and install via recovery

Thank you mistrp74 and The Tox for the help.
I am still a bit confused, I cant seem to locate the right cf-root [Ginerbread 2.3.6 (I9000xxJVU)] from the thread you mentioned.
One more thing, how is your experience of running the Custom Roms, is it much better than the Samsung Firmware? Does all the function work fine?
I will need a bit of spoon feeding in the beginning for the update... as I have never tried it before and I am scared of bricking my phone.
So, please don't give up on me

The right CF-Root is in the seond to last post on the first page I believe- if you can fnd the one for XXJW4, the one you need is right above it
Custom ICS/JB roms are definitely smoother in many ways, although bear in mind because stock Jelly Bean don't include them, both FM Radio and 3G video calling won't work by default (two features of stock roms, I guess AllShare is another if you use it like me). Otherwise every other function is stable and rock solid. Except for the CM10.2 builds, which are still in an initial stage, the JB roms here should have everything working fine.

Thanks a lot guys!
I finally managed to do it.
I installed the CF-Root without any problem but RemICS-UX v1.3.1 (Team Remics) didn't load. It was stuck at the boot screen.
I thought I bricked my phone... but then I installed Ginerbread 2.3.6 (I9000xxJVU) using Odin and then installed plain vanilla ICS 4.0.3
Coming from Ginerbread 2.3.6 I find a lot of new things and the phone is also snappy and responsive... my old Galaxy S is acting almost like a new phone! So I am really happy.
Now that I am familiar with the process I am confident to tryout other ROMs...
I would like something simple, lightweight and fully-functional/bug-free.
So please let me know if there is any other better ROM I should try.
Thanks again guys!

Just one more question, what's your backup strategy that you guys use?
Or else it a lot of work to update each and every app... one by one... also what about the SMS, call log etc?

Because I'm a person who 1.) doesn't use too many apps and 2.) tries to be as economical as possible, I don't have a large amount to backup. My contacts and calendar are always through Google, and for SMS I use SMS Backup and Restore on Play Store. Call log I don't keep, because I'm not a person who really cares for call logs. I only have one other app, Colornote, and that's cloud-synced as well.
Everything else I need is in internal storage :3

More or less similar situation as TS
Hey guys,
Im in a more or less similar situation as the topic starter. My Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 has gotten slow and unresponsive with time.
I would like to update to a custom ROM, and got a little curious about the Slim Bean. But I feel a little unsure about how to proceed.
I'm currently running a custom Gingerbread 2.3.3 ROM, my device is rooted. I flashed this ROM from the Froyo that came with the phone about 2 years ago. It's been so long since I flashed this, I need some directions, as Im afraid I will brick my device.
When I go to recovery mode I see it runs ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.3 - Voodoo lagfix.
Can I just put a Slim Bean 4.2 android version on my internal sd card and run "install zip from sdcard" in ClockwordMod? I would prefer to flash the latest stable version of Slim Bean, which would that be 4.2.2.build7-OFFICIAL?'
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Bootism
Best way to update from gb or even older to jb is imo the way over cyanogenmod.
Follow this tutorial for 10.1: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_galaxysmtd
And then you can upgrade via cwm to the very good slim bean.

Thanks for the answer!
I recall reading about lots of issues with the lagfix and flashing ROMs. My file storage system is in ext4 instead of standard rfs, I think I should somehow undo this if I recall correct. Is this true?
Do you have an option to unlagfix in recovery?
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I can choose "voodoo lagfix" in recovery.
It has the following options:
- disable lagfix
- enable lagfix (default)
- /system lagfix on (default)
- /system lagfix off
- debug off (default)
- debug on
Enter disable lagfix and reboot

Yeah, it's a whole new world opening up. Old phone runs relatively smooth, at least way better than before thanks for helping. I will stay on this Cyanogenmod for a bit and explore.
