Evenin' xda!
I'm the proud owner of a non-rooted SGSA and I am having a couple issues I couldn't get my head around so I was hoping that you guys could give me a hand.
My phone's csc was MTL (not my country's csc) and since I couldn't find any JB version made especially for this csc I flashed one released for my country (COA). It ran really smooth for a couple of weeks but every once in a while my systemUI keeps freezing ,or I get some really annoying lag spikes while performing easy tasks like messaging through the stock app or browsing my contact list.
Now, should I flash some other version of JB , a more stable one, if there is such thing, or should I go ahead and root my device?
Would rooting help me out, and by that I'm asking you to tell me whether there are any stable custom ROMs and/or kernels that I could use? (this is where my inner noob kicks in, I'm pretty helpless )
Thanks a bunch !
P.S. I did try to search for answers but I couldn't find anything useful.
Root I would say is a much better answer to your problem.
Root your phone, flash cocore kernel and debloat your system ie remove unwanted files. This will definetely boost up your phones speed and your phone won't freeze.
If you want to.. you can also try CynogenMod 10.1

I tried this combination a few days ago and, lags was like hell!!
mannulko, I recommend cm10.1, cause aside from some annoying things such as low volume in call, it's very stable, but you could try some custom roms out there, you could try first version of harsh jelly with any of the cocore kernel, just try different versions and see which one suits you!!!

CRT.
You don't have to. Many people said v6.2 is the best now. I'm just too lazy to flash Crt off is the animation when you turn your screen off.

Were you able to update the kernel?
After updating kernel is the phone working fast and normal? Is the dialer lag gone?
What is your current kernel then?
and

You also have to disable signature verification in recovery mode, That should do the trick.

It lags a lot especially the dialer.
also, while playing long video the device goes into coma - I mean it becomes non-responsive.
If I flash CoCore 7.2 kernel should I get rid of the lags?

If you flashed the kernel, the lags won't magically disappear but it is considerably reduced because the lags in dialer/camera/contacts are samsung's fault.

I attached one from XXLQB, I have that FW on my PC. You will need to unzip it.
P.S. People from general threads do not know specific devices kernels. I saw you question here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48476107#post48476107
I suggest you to use CoCore-E 8.2. And install No Frill CPU app from play store, then change Governor to PegasusQ and Sceduler to SIO. You will notice difference then.
Then I suggest you to debloat your ROM, search for debloating. Remove not used system apps. Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200954

1. You can't be on stock recovery and on CoCore. With CoCore you only can have CWM or TWRP.
2. Why did you use old CoCore 2.8? I think there was a problem with it, and installing some zips. Use latest 8.2.
Now to avoid all those problems - flash stock JB again and do whole process again. I do not know how to do it now, maybe to use temp CWM and try from there... Search for link on our section. But again, much less painfull proces would be to go back to stock completly, root, install CoCore E-8.2.
Why did you complicated so much?

I think you can (I am not 100% sure because I never tried it, but I do not see why you can't).

you can flash stock kernel with universal kernel flasher
just you need kernel.bin and no need kernel2.bin
i flashed only kernel.bin and only it contains both boot and recovery files i dont know why kernel2.bin is included in stock rom
you have any idea why it is included?
Hi all, i am going on holidays in a week and i need my phone. I want to return to 4.1.2 jelly bean but i am afraid that it freezes when i need it the most. I am currently on t4n017 latest build but there is this annoying bug of screen flashing all the time.
1.Which cocafe's kernel should i use to have a stable and bug free rom?
2. If u suggest a custom rom, which one and y?
Thanks a lot

One tip, put max background apps to 1 or 2. Try SamiOS for example. For kernel, I used latest CoCore - it was ok.

Chirag's latest PA build, even though is not up to date with the official verison, works very well, especially when paired with apps like myandroidtools( link)
or greenify.

I plan to install it, too. Can I simply apply zip from twrp? I'm currently on vanir kitkat.

Probably yes. If you fail you can always flash stock JB and then install CM10.1.
Remember that you need to do factory reset after install of another ROM, to avoid getting into a bootloop.
